Stan's Donuts & Coffee

Originally we were going to order from Dunkin Donuts, but my fiancé thought about Stan's because we had a great breakfast meal there a few times. She remembered how delicious their breakfast sandwiches were. It was double the cost of DD, but we thought for quality food it would cost more. Which at DD we could have bought 2 sandwiches, 2 hash brown and 2 coffee for half the cost at Stan's. We picked up our order and went back home to enjoy our Sunday morning breakfast. Once we settled in and opened our sandwiches we were both very disappointed with what we received. The sandwiches were tiny and looked no where near what it should have looked like in their photos. The sandwich is almost $8.00! We put an eyebrow next to the sandwich for size comparison. The hash brown was soggy and had no flavor. Overall you are not getting what you think you're paying for. I hope Stan's will improve on their breakfast sandwiches.

Mel is always so lovely and helpful, and the staff overall is amazing. Also has one of my favorite apple fritters around!

Staff doesn't greet or ask if I was picking when I was clearly at the pick up counter for a reason. Barista did not look from what she was doing and was just pacing back and after. She proceeded to help someone else that came in after me giving them an attitude as well. When she finally asked me if I was there to pick something up, she gave me an attitude about it. This could be an easy issue resolved if they just placed the orders in the pick up counter so I don't have to speak to them or they actually use customer service in the store to interact with people instead they choose to be condescending and rude.

I just moved to Chicago with my family, and we're still in the exploration stage of finding all the best places to eat. We'd walked past Stan's about a dozen times, but were always too late. I finally made it in last week, and they've made a customer for life. There is such a wide variety of donuts, and they're all pretty wonderful. The staff could not have been nicer, and "Panic" did a great job of recommending his favorites. We were not disappointed! We've been back at least three times since, and have been taken care of by the staff every time.

Honored to visit as a tourist on the opening day. Energetic and friendly staff, cute interior, topped with a really delicious chocolate Nutella donut - fluffy, flavorful, bites of happiness. What's not to love? Highly recommended!

The donut looks like someone already took a bit out of it (was not me). Next to me I will check before I leave. Service was friendly and fast.

Good chain donuts. Clean store. Friendly and efficient staff. Street parking. In my opinion, better than Dunkin, not as good as Voodoo. The entrance, seating area and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. The bummer is, an employee informed me that they get their donuts delivered at 6 AM. As far as I know, they're not doing the baking on-site.

As Stan's Donuts expands and keep giving franchises the quality just decreases. Wow, I am never going back to Stan's. I was big fan of their airy extremely soft melt in the mouth donuts. Man! What happened to you guys, how did you ruin your quality so bad? Stan's donuts are dead. I was so pissed I even wanted to go back there and ask for a refund. Anyway, back to south side again, D&D's Place located at south Kedzie Ave. This is the only place left is Chicago that still serves airy melt in the mouth donuts.

Honestly I have a love hate relationship Stan's in general. The prices are crazy but I can't lie, the quality is good. And despite the prices, I seem to keep finding my way back there as my Yelp profile shows three check-ins at this location. This location is pretty cute and clean. There is a lot of natural light coming in through the ceiling to floor windows. The space isn't too large, but there are tables for you to sit at, if you wish. There always seems to be a selection of pastries to select from, which is nice. I love the apple fritters and the glazed cinnamon twists. Not a plan of their cream/jelly filled items, but to fair, I don't do anyone's cream/jelly filled items, just not my thing. The savory pastries are pretty good as well: really like the Spinach/Feta and Le Stanwich. Both make for a nice quick snack. The staff has always been pretty on top of things and very bubbly and pleasant to deal with it as far as taking orders. And just as a fair warning, this is a cashless location, which is not an issue for me as I never have any money on me. But if you are going to stop at this location, bring your card or Google/Samsung/Apple wallet.

In the words of Zoidberg: "What have I done?!" (Alas, Yelp does not have the capability to adjust fonts to convey his flair.) - I had a choice between Dunkin and Stan's, and went with Stan's! I suppose my Massachusetts card will soon be revoked (really though, I *do* need to switch over my license.) I ordered a coffee, a Churro donut, and a Boston Cream donut The coffee was nothing to write home about. An A-OK heat and caffeine delivery system (I'm willing to be you've never heard of coffee described this way) The Churro donut was an unexpected scrumptious treat! It had very light crispness, was unbelievably light and airy, and sprinkled with the perfect amount of cinnamon sugar. It wasn't overly sweet, wasn't greasy, and didn't taste like old fat (ie made yesterday). I was even surprised to learn the donuts are not made on site! The Boston Cream (not to be confused with DD's "Boston Kreme") did not blow my mind as much, but this isn't a problem with the donut, more a matter of preference. I will not embarrass myself by trying to guess (invariably incorrectly) which is which, only to say the dough is different. The dough was solid and didn't taste stale. The sweetness came from the chocolate coating and filling. Both were A-OK, except the tissue paper stole most of the chocolate icing! Not many ways around this with fresh frosting, ask me what happened on a hot and humid summer day once! The location is clean, bright, and has ample seating. The service is polite and speedy. Prices are in line with what I would expect. Thus if I find myself in the area, I would 100% stop in again.

Stan's Donuts is a sugary wonderland that'll have you feeling like a kid in a candy store. Each donut is a masterpiece, with flavors ranging from the classic to the wildly inventive. Every bite is an explosion of taste, and the texture is spot on--soft, fresh, and with the perfect amount of chew. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming, capturing that nostalgic donut-shop feel with a modern twist. Whether you're going for a classic glazed or something more adventurous like the Biscoff Pocket, it's hard to go wrong here. This spot is a must-visit for any sweet tooth passing through Chicago. Grab a donut (or three), find a cozy corner, and watch the city buzz by with a coffee in hand--pure bliss! Oh, and their bathrooms are clean and service workers welcoming!

Disney World has nothing on this place. This Stan's location is the happiest place on earth! The coffee is always fresh and the counter is always stocked with a tempting assortment of fresh, scrumptious sweet donuts and savory pastries. And the staff - Happy, efficient and so friendly! I live out of state so I go everyday when I'm in town.

Solid donuts, and a solid staff making my first Stan's experience a great one. Stan's cruffin is a great choice - if not a messy choice to eat. It's so flaky that you can't help getting the sugar and pastry everywhere, but it tastes wonderful. I'll be back!

First time going to this place and it was so cute as soon as I arrived, the customer service was on point. They were so sweet and they greeted me as soon as I came into the building. The place is super clean and the donuts were full. I noticed a lot that reviews online talked about how they didn't have anything, but I got there early both times probably, I don't know between eight and 10 and they had donuts there was no issue there. I got a half a dozen and I got to see what kind of recommendations they had. the best ones were the gluten-free ones oh my gosh they were so soft and they had amazing flavor. They weren't super filling. They were light and fluffy. I can eat 20 of them. They didn't make you feel bloated, but they just were so good that they fulfill that craving up something delicious. I did not like the chocolate covered with sprinkles. It was too thick and dry. your prices were in bed either. I got a bee from there and I got a drink. You can always ask for extra flavoring if it doesn't taste good enough and they are super sweet about giving you more if you want it so don't be afraid to ask. I like this place so much that I went the next day because I enjoyed it versus going to any other local donuts around. I would absolutely go back skip the bad reviews and just try that yourself. I promise won't be disappointed.

Stan's Donuts has been hot this year! This is their second location in the Chicago area & Chicagoland. I had a LeStanwich Apple Pudding Donut, Hash Brown, LeStanwich Croissant & Maple Matcha Latte. The Latte is sweet. The Hash is very good. PS. There Cashless.

Since this Stan's opened in my neighborhood a few months ago, I have been many times simply because it is convenient. It is easy to grab a box of donuts to bring to a family gathering or pick up some for a co-worker's birthday. I much prefer downstate donuts, but they unfortunately aren't open as early and only on Thu-Sunday. I was at the grand opening for this Stan's- lined up at 4:45 AM for a chance to get a golden donut, and I had high hopes and was happy it was so close by with extensive hours. With all that being said, Stan's only gets 2 stars from me because it is MASSIVELY overpriced for the quality (honestly for the taste, these should be half as much as they are), and they are constantly understaffed with grumpy employees. I used to pre-order assorted half or dozen donuts, but I stopped doing that because they always ripped me off on the selections- it is supposed to come with 2x original, 2x specialty, and 2x doughboy and I always ended up getting an assortment of the bottom of the barrel donuts, both times not getting any of the more expensive dough boy's best that were paid for (which is the reason the assortment is like $22 for a HALF DOZEN). When I've gone in to pick instead, they usually only have two people working, and for some reason, THEY OFFER A FULL BREAKFAST MENU THAT IS ENTIRELY MADE IN A TOASTER OVEN. This completely overwhelms the two people working on any given weekend. People are coming into Stan's to order an $8 breakfast sandwich that goes into a Dunkin-like toaster oven and the poor girl making them looks so stressed and frazzled that I feel seriously second hand uncomfortable. They have not implemented any systems to support only two people working. Each persons order is taken and rung up to completion regardless of what you order. If you're just there for some donuts, you're absolutely going to still wait in line behind the brunch crowd inexplicably ordering breakfast and fancy coffee here, and you're going to wait forever to pay for your donuts. To top it all off, I don't think I even like these donuts. Having had them now many times, I just keep thinking its an off day (although take note the donuts are not baked here, they are shipped in on a truck each morning probably from the burbs made the day before), but in reality I just don't think Stan's makes good donuts. They're always a little bit stale and slightly bland. They should really focus on doing one or two things here- they CANNOT handle donuts, breakfast, AND coffee. They don't have the infrastructure, the space, or the staff. Definitely check out the local places instead if you can (no, Stan's is not local it's incredibly corporate) and I think you'll be less disappointed. I'm done giving them any more money, no matter how convenient the location.

Came back home with my cold brew and when I took a sip something came up the straw and it was this squishy texture blob!!! Possibly mold?? It was disgusting! Made me sick to my stomach. Looks like they are not cleaning at this location.

Stans is a very Chicago donut place. I was excited to get one in the neighborhood. The donuts are kind of meh and when you are eating a donut that's is not what you want to think. I like the croissant donut but the filling is too much and their chocolate frosting is just a little lack luster. Service has moved fast being in there and I love the ballon from the new opening. I do feel like being cashless is limiting and pricing out options for unhoused people in the area who might just want a coffee but that is a whole other subject.

Stan's is Stan's. Slightly below-average donuts and coffee, and OK breakfast items, at an above average price. Consistent and reliable, without the wow factor. This place gets an extra star and half for being nice, clean, warm and brightly lit. Great for people watching, and there are a TON of characters to watch on that corner. The staff is generally very helpful and pleasant. Glad to have it in the neighborhood! For better donuts, go a few blocks west to Downstate. Not as fun to hang out at. For much better coffee, go to Everybody's a few blocks east.

Service is terrible! Donuts are great but pick another location where the people aren't dead inside about their jobs.

Good luck getting the right food in your order...check your bag before you leave. Been a few times, $30+ bucks a pop, one thing seems always wrong. Back to Dunkin.

A few things to note is that this specific location is slightly new,but doesn't absolve them of simple due diligence. Last week,running errands made it the 4th time I'd come in and not been served. Kind given this place 3 pther chances before this. There were 6 people sitting in a booth with nothing at their table. The place was pretty empty during the afternoon,and with the exception of one othrr person of color,i was thee only one. There were 4 baristas on duty as i walked up to the counter,and as i stood a few feet away fromnone of the people from the table. Not a single person acknowledged me. So i went back to my headquarters and told each of my colleagues not to support this place. Not a single barista was busy,and i was still standing there. The place was empty with the exception of the 6 people who weren't of color,who had not purchased anything. Won't be back. Can absolutely tell NONE of these people are even from the neighborhood. Get it together, or we can have a sit down with the alderman. The choice is yours.

Been a few times purely out of convenience - Good donuts but they don't seem to be able to keep inventory in stock (missing sandwich items or hasbrowns) and the coffee is so burnt it is borderline undrinkable.

Hire more people. 20 mins wait for a coffee sat morning. The girl is seriously stressed out and keeps moaning: "it's just a job" while providing exceptional service. I feel so sorry for her.

So excited to finally have Stan's in the Uptown neighborhood! It's quality food and delicious coffee, and it will always be my go-to. Can't wait to come here more often, friendly staff and a very convenient location right by the red line station.

Stopped in this morning, iv been anticipating this for months. I love Stan's! I'm not crazy about no cash, tho. You use card you get prompted to add tip, I'm sorry but after spending $8 on 2 donuts, I'm not giving a tip to a person who boxed my donuts .‍. Notice I bring my own box for donuts, if they get put in small bag, the topping gets stuck on bag...ugh. I'll make this my weekly treat.
