Stan's Sports Bar

I cane here after a game to see the legendary Yankees bar, got a very cold Corona for $10 and drank it in a massive crowd. Some guy spanked me as I was leaving. I don't know if it was Stan. Not a casual experience but maybe it's more chill at other times.

Sure, everyone wants to get some brewskies from the infamous Stan's when catching a ballgame, but you really shouldn't miss out on the hot dogs and fries. Look at the picture--and enough said.

The best prequel to attending a Yankee stadium. It's practically an unwritten rule for Yankee fans to at least have one drink at Stan's. Drinks come out quick, servers and bartenders are efficient. A sea of white and navy blue everywhere you look! Memorabilia all over the walls, captain plaques, and everything in between. Truly a Bronx game-day stable.

What a fun place with tons of history and such great energy all around. this bar is located directly across from the "original" house that Ruth built! Across the way is this beautiful field where you see people walking and spectators sitting on the bleachers with a baseball game going on. The bar is simple and serves both food and beverages. They provide fast service and a friendly New York style attitude! A couple of beers and we were off and ready to see the game....

Staple bar for before yankee games. The place gets packed and is extremely overpriced. $12 a high noon. $10 for a Truly seltzer. $12 shots, etc. You are basically paying stadium prices before you get into the stadium. Having said that, it's still an obligatory stop for a drink before the game, but I couldn't imagine coming here otherwise.

The service fucking sucks I didn't get my right drink and then didnt give me the right food I ask for a burger but got a hotdog Never coming again.

Love it. I always come here after a game with my beautiful wife. When she was pregnant, they offered nonalcoholic beer so she doesn't feel left out.

Great beer selection. Bar was super busy and got to meet a lot of firefighters. Good yankee pregame spot for sure

Well worth the pricey drinks. The ticker inside is also electric. Just an absolutely necessary spot pre Yankee games

Opening day at Yankee Stadium against the Red Sox! Packed house with Yankee memorabilia! --loud, good music with happy crowd. Drinks were pricey! Getting drinks could be a challenge if you don't catch bartender's eye! Great way to start game! Go Sox!

Dennise was an excellent server very attentive and kind and cool under pressure !! Best bar to go to before a Yankees game!

Got up to the game early with my gal pals so of course we decided to stop in at no other but Stan's Sports Bar for drinks. We were greeted warmly by Colin, one of the servers, who was quite a gem. He was friendly, and even pretty cute. Service was 10/10, will be back anytime we come to Yankee games.

This is my go to place before a Yankee game. It is what it is No frills. Loud music. And lots of Yankee fans This time I was there with my three girls. We had a blast. Perfect way to start a night in the Bronx. I have eaten here in the past and it has been good. Didn't have time this trip

It's not going to the ballpark without a stop at Stan's. Coors and a Jameson shot with classic rock blasting and fans buzzing before the game. It's crowded and rowdy but it's The Bronx in a nutshell.

This is a must stop before a Yankees game. The food was really good, service was excellent. I got the pulled pork fries and they were amazing!! Thanks guys!

I grew-up a Yankee fan and our group stopped-in here recently on our way to Yankee Stadium, since the Yankees were hosting the Minnesota Twins. I really liked the vibe and it was cool to see all the Yankee fans hanging-out before the game. The bar was crowded, but, hey that's what a sports bar is all about. Even if you're not a Yankee fan, this is what you'd expect from devoted fans, who support their team. I really enjoyed all the Yankee memorabilia throughout the bar. They even have light fixtures of baseball bats and liquor bottles hanging from the bar. Service was really good and our servers were polite. Drinks were served quickly and everyone seemed to be having a good time. It was a good start to our night.

If heaven was on earth .......this is it! You are there to grab one last beer pregame or postgame and discuss the Yankees.

Great atmosphere. Old time baseball feel. Great selection of drinks and service was great.

I was at Stans today 4/5 before going to Yankee game, it was a very good eco. They are following COVID-19 rules, social distance, masks etc, it's table service only but there is plenty of room, they have tables outside and by curb. The service and food were outstanding. I would highly recommend going here before and after game the owners and help are the friendliest bunch you can meet. 5 Stars I'll be back again

Good place to catch a beer and a snack , drinks always are cold and staff and management are always on point . The only zero that I would give is the the jerk off yankee Fan Mike A who is a staple at Stans and in the bleachers lol . But Stans still gets 5 stars

Went to Stan's the other night before the Yankee game. My server colin offered exceptional services, he was was friendly and kind and made sure all our needs were met. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area!

This place can get super packed on a nice game day and it was difficult getting to the bar but the prices are much cheaper than in the stadium and the crowd wasn't rowdy at all. All the doors and windows were open and the excitement of the game brought us in before the 2nd inning. Tip: DON'T come here to use the bathroom, its co-ed and the line is longer than actually ordering a beer. Tip 2: on a busy day, order yourself 2 beers so you don't have to go back and wait for the second one, you'll thank me later.

If your're not agoraphobic, and you happen to be friends with a lot of broad shouldered, cliquey borough-centric people, then you'll fit right in here. Seriously, this place can be cool, but you can't be shy. Me and my buddy went on the 2011 Opening day, and resigned ourselves to being people-locked, and it wasn't really that bad. People are drunk, but friendly. People seem to come with the constant hope that the Yankees will pull out a victory, to slightly bolster their own shortcomings. Sometimes it works. This place is best observed by the casual outsider, during the middle innings of a weekday game when everyone is inside. Or a blowotu, when no one cares. It gives you the opportunity to check out the fun art work, and chat with the workers. Overall a good spot.

If you're going to a game at Yankee stadium. It's def worth stopping in before or after the game. It a huge place. 2 floors. They have an outdoor area too. Decent beer selection. And a lot cheaper than inside the stadium. It might get full on some days. But they have 2 huge bars so grabbing a beer is never a problem. It's only about a 1 minute walk to Yankee stadium. And right off the train stop. A great place to link up with your friends and prepare for the game.

I only give it a 3 because of one person who was miserable the entire time. He told me I ordered too many times. He yelled at me when I gave him one order after the other. Meanwhile we had plenty of money on the bar. He said "I don't want to walk back and forth." You can't walk back and forth through a bar you gotta get a new job.

Stan's is a notch above the other bars in this area for serving Bronx Pale Ale AND Not Your Father's Root Beer, whereas the other place a couple blocks away had a pretty crappy beer lineup. Prices are not outrageous. There'a also food, but we were waiting for overpriced concessions at the NYCFC game. Interestingly, the bar starts to look like a Murray Hill Dive closer to game time (maybe it was the soccer crowd). Lots of Midwestern-looking bros vs. the muscled apes I was expecting to find here. Also deserving note, the dude at the door was kind of a d--k. He thought he was being funny, messing with us in his own "genial" way, but mostly came off like a jerk. I guess he has to deal with a lot of bros with the bro-homie that serves them well.

I think it's funny seeing the odd reviews where people complain about the bar being too crowded on game days but then saying how close it is to Yankee Stadium. LOL what's wrong with you people? The wait staff there is kind and respectful. They go out of their way to server us whether it means getting draft beers for us when we could have just walked to the draft station to get them ourselves or when it comes to the bar food and getting us extra ketchup, spicy sauce etc. All done politely and with a smile in spite of how crazy it can get in there. My wife and I have been there many times. We go to a Yankee game about once a month and it's part of our ritual. It's not a fancy bar, and it's not supposed to be one, moreover, I wouldn't want it to be one. You go to a Yankees game for the spectacle of the crowd and great entertainment. Going to Stan's is the perfect way to start off the experience. We'll be back soon!

Needed another spot after the landlord shut down my favorite. Found it! Best prices and selection on the block. Yankees decor everywhere. Pregame bar food. The bartenders always make you feel welcomed!

Besides Disney World, this is MY happiest place on Earth! lol Stan's is a great place to go to before, after or even to just watch the Yankee game there. It's a great feeling when you walk in the door and get a hug and hello kiss from the bouncers who do a phenomenal job of keeping us safe while we're there! Each bartender is friendlier than the next and always greet us by name with a kiss on the cheek and have our Corona Lights and Fireball shots lined up at the bar before we even ask for it! I absolutely adore the sarcasm and jokes from the bartenders and even Stan himself! Stan's is definitely my happy place one of my favorite places to go to during the summer and I always get sad after the last game of the season. The only comfort is knowing how much more fun is expected for the next Opening Day! I highly recommend Stan's and would definitely rate higher if I could! I love this place!!Cheers Big Ears!

Stan's is the ultimate Yankee bar. We had so much fun here before the series between Boston and the Yankees. Everyone was so incredibly welcoming and friendly. Great drinks and bar food. Lots of tvs and great music. Stan's welcomed my Boston loving husband and embraced me the diehard Yankee fan. We will be back during our next visit.

Interesting. This seems like a dive beach bar, without the beach. Great proximity to Yankee stadium, but not great as a Redsox fan. It's very loud and getting a beer is a chore. It's jam packed on game days.

Opening Day at THE Stadium. If this ambiance was in any other bar, I'd probably never go, but the fact that this IS across from the original site of Yankee Stadium and the place is always full of Yankee fans of all ages, makes it a "must do" every time i go to a game. In fact, all my Met fan friends wish there was a place like this near Citifield. Considering the crowds, service (provided you can get to one of the many bars) is excellent. The food is decent, but I'm trying to limit the amount of fried foods I eat, so it was only 1 very hot and crispy chicken finger for me. I would never go to a pace this crowded at home, but Stan's is the place to be for a Yankee game.

I've been here either before or after Yankee games but never on a day I wasn't going to be attending a game Until last week. I had the day to myself and did not know what to do. So I took the train first to Manhattan then changed my mind before exiting the subway station and took the train towards Yankee Stadium. After walking around the neighborhood I stopped in here. I had a few beers. The place wasn't packed but there were still people there so I didn't feel so bad. Service was good not surprising since it was rather empty.

Went before Yankees vs Sox game. Neat to visit but way over priced. Liked other area bars better with a game day atmosphere.

As far as Yankee Stadium pre and post game dive bars are concerned, Stan's is the only place to go. If you are a Yankee fan (I'm not) then Stan's is probably already part of your stadium vocabulary. Complete dive bar ... but well worth the trip.

Hot, crowded, extremely loud, music blaring, Nu Yawkers blabbing left and right, sticky floor, food (and beer) prices are riDICulous, and there are very few places to sit. Stan's has been around for 196 years, if I recall correctly, and it is THE classic pit stop before a Yankees game. We had an outstanding time.

My buddy and I went to the Yankee game last night. We usually start at the Stadium Bar on 157 for some cheap beer. Went by there and it was closed. So we start walking on River Av. and decided to do a bar crawl to the ballpark. Stan's was the first stop. I have been here before and found their prices the highest among the stadium area bars but what the hell. 12 oz. bottle of Stella for $8. Equivalent to paying the $12 for a 20 oz. Stella inside. Next bar please.

This is based off me spending a few minutes in Stan's while people I know met other people they know and so on and so forth.. Really not my type of bar. I don't enjoy bars that I have to literally shout over the music just to hear every other word in a conversation. Maybe this dies down when the game is, and it's fine to be loud DURING a game, but loud (may I also mention crappy?) music before the game, is just ridiculous. They seem to have plenty of seating, which is appreciated. However, maybe it was just the day I popped in, but there seemed to be a lot of sorority girls and frat boys lingering around. Not my kind of crowd. I'm older than half these "kids" and can hold my liquor way better than most of them. I'll come check out Stan's again one day for a game and see how it is. Luckily, I'm always at Yankee games so I can celebrate inside the stadium.

Mikey and the staff are amazing! made out of towners feel right at home. Went well above and beyond expectations. Couldn't reccomend highly enough...if you visit the Bronx you gotta visit Stans.

I had time to kill before a futbol match at the stadium so I decided to stop in. They weren't nearly as busy as I've seen when the yankees play. The restroom is clean.

Winning! Great for a pre/post ball game beverage with a superb atmosphere and plenty of TV's to soak in some more sport if the Yankee's didn't hit the spot.

This is far and away the best bar by Yankee stadium. The crowd is always a good one, the music they play is good. The bartenders are fun, and even when it's so packed you cannot move they're still fast and courteous.

Had a good time here before the Yankees game, but the prices are definitely inflated. Yeah, the stadium is close and people would be willing to pay a lot for drinks but it's way too pricey! If you're trying to be drunk for the Yankees game just pregame and then get a drink or two here. If they decreased the prices, maybe people would buy more drinks idk

It's my fault for trying this place again after hating it last time but I forgot.  It's just I came from Billy's and wanted to see what was going on.  I signed their book for check in and had a temp check.  I was appreciative owner OKed my entry. They seated me near the door entrance when I was eyeing a bar seat farther in.  I mentioned to the bartender that I can't really view the TV.  He said something like there are TVs all around. So OK fine I guess that I wasn't getting exactly what I wanted.  He said I can take off my mask since I'm vaccinated.  But I wasn't sitting yet and already felt rushed, wasn't left to just settle in like a normal patron.  Bartender had other customers too. Can't he go away for 30 seconds and talk to them? I told him I am not vaccinated.  Well I clarified.  I told him I was vaccinated but have about 10 days left for it to be official and he understood perfectly.  He said I can't stay if I am not fully vaccinated and since I told him.  I am actually upping the rating because I respect this!  I too agree to kick the unvaccinated out!  I just think he and I didn't take an immediate liking to each other and that's the real reason it turned sour.  It's just there is this controlled feeling there every time, and it's not about being 10 days short of vaccination. Besides the inside was socially distanced and they weren't enforcing vaccination requirements (except for me). Oh and they did offer me seating outside which was nice, but it was crammed out there and I don't want to get covid. Anyway, hopefully I will learn to just stay away next time! OMG, just read my previous review! I forgot specifics and it's interesting how I had a similar vibe and rating from a few years ago.

The place gets packed before games, but DEFNITELY rather grab a drink here than at Billy's next door. Music is ridiculously loud. The playlist was from my High School Prom, same DJ perhaps?!, but I was totally into it. I'm thinking about finally asking Stephanie out on a date, I just gotta figure out how to not get beat up by the jocks when I steal the Captain of the football teams girl..... You know why you go here? Because the bartenders are lazer on point. The dude will just keep pointing at people till he locks in on the next thirsty patron. I loved watching his lighting speed service. The other reason you go here is because they offer 24 oz tall boy classic Coors for $8. Let the "Banquet" begin.

This place is terrible. The men that work behind the bar are pathetic, misogynistic, and rude. We ordered a drink and he tried to charge us $50. We politely disagreed and he tried to threaten with a "I'll call the cops." They don't know what they would have gotten themselves into had they done that, but let's just say that we settled the matter. I wish my Yankees Game Night had turned out better.

I was in Stan's last night for the Orioles-Yankees game and I had a nice time in there. Even though I am an Orioles fan, the service was great and didn't get into any altercation with Yankee fans in there. Definitely have to come through there again in September next time I'm in the Bronx for an O's-Yankees game.

Stan's Sports Bar has the most personable bartenders I've ever experienced! Their atmosphere is super inviting, the drinks are great, and you feel like you're at Yankee Stadium before you even get there! I would recommend coming here before any Yankee game to start your experience off right.

First time here and plan to come back all season ! Great atmosphere for a Yankee game. Fast and friendly service. My new favorite Yankee stadium bar.
