Can anyone help me in identifying below posted picture of curry/masala. My friend had ordered this and he liked it very much he forgot what he had ordered. He describes its very sweet and no spciy at all. So i want to know and accordingly i can order but i do not want to order wrong one. So either the resturant team help me or anyone who tried this in the resturant support me. Very important for me to identify this food from this resturant.

We went on a quiet Tuesday evening and was served by KHALID. The food was tasty, service was second to none and it was just a chilled atmosphere. We will definitely be back as we feel this is the best Indian takeaway locally. Thank you guys.

We have had wonderful Star of India meals for both takeaway and dine in. Everything is fresh and well spiced. The saag paneer and chicken saag were especially good! As were the poppadoms and chutnies. The atmosphere in the restaurant was good - cozy and it was busy on a Saturday night. We ordered 3 drinks, 3 starters, 3 mains, a side dish, a naan and rice and it was about £30 pp. I think the starters were just a bit small for the price but they were all delicious, the curry and biryani were both really good too. Not the best I’ve ever had but very good for London!

I hosted a family event on Saturday 27/04/2024 for 30 people. Saturdays is a busy night for all restaurants. Most restaurants were not able to accept my last minute booking but Star of India did and they did an amazing job. All my guests were extremely impressed with the food, service and ambience. They took extra care to ensure my guests were satisfied. Food was mouthwatering and well proportioned. Staff were very attentive. I definitely recommend Star of India to everyone. Hats off to the chef, all the staff and the owner. I was extremely overwhelmed with joy and happiness from the high level of service they provided considering it was very last minute and the fact that all my guests were super impressed. I will definitely be hosting more events there. I would like to sincerely thank everyone at the Star of India for making my event a success. Thank you so much. Hope to see you all soon.

My friend & I were looking for quality cuisine that was also gluten-free due to her being Celiac. She was so excited to see the menu CLEARLY labeled all allergens & made ordering a breeze! We were greeted with smiles & hospitality upon entering the restaurant until we left. I had a lamb dish & she enjoyed the chicken korma. The desserts looked fun, but we were too stuffed! I am excited to try the new Sunday buffet or the Wednesday night special menu. Every dish that left the kitchen smelled delicious & the ambiance was beautiful. Thank you for a lovely evening with an old friend.

The nicest Indian I have found in London!! Can’t recommend this place enough, the food is incredible and the staff are so kind and attentive. Highly recommend giving the Wednesday 5 course banquet a try.

Star of India has firmly secured its place as my go-to Indian restaurant. After several excellent experiences via Deliveroo, I decided to visit in person—and it more than lived up to expectations. The Wednesday five-course deal, priced at a very reasonable £16.95, is both generous and well-executed, offering a feast of flavors. The menu is impressively extensive, balancing classic dishes with lesser-seen regional specialties. The chicken tikka dhansak stands out—a masterful balance of heat, tang, and depth, while the aloo paratha is a delightful accompaniment, rich and perfectly flaky. Service is impeccable: warm, attentive, and efficient without feeling rushed. For those seeking an authentic and satisfying Indian dining experience, Star of India delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended!

Visited this restaurant last weekend with family for my wife’s birthday. Must say the experience was beyond expectations. Excellent customer service, amazing food and a very pleasant environment. Even met the owner Abi, he was a lovely person and must say was running the place in a very professional manner serving excellent service to customers. Keep up the good work. Will surely visit again👍

Yelp
Indian cuisine reaches its best at this place. Not as good as Dishoom, but still on my top 5. I've always used it as a takeaway, since it is in my area and I'm always coming or going somewhere. The staff are fantastic and I don't know how they manage to be so friendly and kind any time. It is a pleasure to be served by them. They have basically everything on the menu. From your favourite meals, to the ones you would try and they'd become your favourites too. Any ingredient has a specific flavour and it is a pleasure to try the combinations they create. The meat is always tender and yet, very crispy. What to try: the chickenMakani, if you like spicy food.

Yelp
First off, I was shocked by the negative reviews and would like to point out that most of them date back to 2011. I'm not sure if the ownership has changed hands, but these reviews no longer reflect the restaurant. We went on a Sunday night with some friends from Leytonstone. Our friends had been there a few times, but this was our first visit. One member of our group is vegan and the restaurant gladly informed her of her options, which were plentiful. I don't normally like Indian food, but my husband loves Indian so I occasionally get grudgingly dragged along. However, I really enjoyed the food here. I had a pepper stuffed with potatoes as an appetiser, which was brilliant and I might attempt to make at home. For my main, I had a prawn dhansak, which I also recommend. Everyone in my party seemed very pleased with the food. Even though it was a Sunday night the restaurant was quite full. The wait staff were very kind. We spent three hours there and were not rushed at all. The food was timed perfectly, which is a hard concept for some UK restaurants. The waitstaff presented us with a small present of chocolates and liquor shots free of charge! There customer service is spot on! We will definitely be returning!

Yelp
It is certainly above average but the owner is very experienced at talking it up on the internet and by any other method he can find. There are a wide range of dishes including many fish recipies. Its totally unlikely when viewed from outside as it looks small and rather pokey. Step inside and its very spacious and nicely decorated. Eat as much on Sunday lunchtimes and currently on Monday and Tuesday evenings but check before going on that as it might change as the recession receeds. They do hold open the door when you leave though. Tony Glazier

Yelp
The manager was very rude and told me he could refuse servicing me because my card wasn't signed so I paid him cash and left but the food was terrible

Yelp
I'd heard good things about this restaurant so thought it was about time I checked it out. I wish I hadn't bothered. I rung ahead of time asking if they could accommodate for gluten free and onion with curries. I was assured that wouldn't be a problem. With this reassurance I was excited. I love curries but with my allergies they're so hard to come by. When I arrived at the restaurant and started going through the menu I was told none of the curries could be done onion free and in fact there were very few meals that I could actually eat. Given I had rung before hand this was incredibly frustrating and it seemed like the staff didn't actually have a clue about the items on their menu. I ended up having a bowl of fried rice but I wasn't impressed in the slightest. I won't be back.

Yelp
A nice friendly restaurant, where the waiters open the door for you! The food is nice too and at reasonable prices. There is a buffet available on a Sunday with a variety of dishes available that should meet everyones tastes.

Yelp
Cold food, only 4 small peices of chicken in my tikka masla, so very pricey for small portions of watery strange coloured dishes, the Saag paneer was disgusting, ordered a take away here before and it was the same, i should have thrown the menu as it was picked up by mistake and ordered from by a friend......YUK

Yelp
One of the worst asian restaurants in UK! OMG! They serve ONIONS instead of curry! I was just shocked when I went there. The food is absolutely TERRIBLE!!!!I have eaten a lot of different asian dishes and believe none of them was consisting of onions! Me and my friend ordered chicken(KORMA) curry and lamb curry. Both of them not only looked the same but tasted same there were literally 4 small pieces of meat in each curry and the rest was just ONIONS in a gravy! Now we are laughing at the experience but then we were really upset. The staff was not very nice as well, especially after I told them that I have eaten much better curry ;-) DO NOT GO THERE! WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY! Recommend it for onion-lovers though ;-) !!!!

Yelp
Went there with a group of friends. Was shocked at the filthy state of the place and gingerly ordered a few things off the menu that I thought had not been handled by too many people. Chcken Tikka main course was a tiny portion of dried chicken which had probably been microwaved too much. dahl was runny and tasteless. All in all a cramped dirty place. Will not be returning.
