"Star Rover Sound isn’t your typical dark, stately steakhouse. It's actually a neon-lit live music venue that happens to serve some great food. But at night, Friday through Sunday, it channels the spirit of Texas Roadhouse with an unfussy and slightly kitschy steak dinner pop-up that’s perfect for a casual date or hanging with friends. Your steak (most of which are under $50) will not only be tender and seared to the slightest crisp, but it’ll come with a dinner salad, buttery rolls from The Optimist, and your choice of onion rings or “thrice-cooked” fries. For dessert, get some soft serve and a slice of apple pie. We’ve yet to try it, but they also have the 76er challenge—a glorious test of will that entails finishing a 76-ounce steak, salad, yeast rolls, and a bowl of fries in under an hour for a comped meal and your picture on the wall." - jackie gutierrez jones 2

It feels like a honky-tonk, but with strong Texas Roadhouse energy, and you can actually have a conversation without screaming while you watch local acts perform every Thursday through Saturday night. "Star Rover Sound is kind of a curve ball in this category — most people know this down-home, country-fried spot from Ford Fry as a live music venue with ice-cold beer. But on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 5 p.m., Star Rover turns into a casual West Texas steakhouse. Checkered tablecloths and plastic red votives set the scene for the house meal: salad, Opti rolls, bottomless fries and onion rings, and your choice of steak (the price of the meal varies by the cut).
