Yelp
This Starbucks, store #10903, is located at The District at Howell Mill shopping center on Howell Mill Road at I-75. Compared to most other Starbucks locations in Midtown and Westside neighborhoods, it seems to be the most unique for the following few reasons:
1. It's two stories.
2. They have an evening menu of small plates, desserts, wine, and beer.
3. It feels more like an independent coffeehouse than a run-of-the-mill Starbucks store.
This Starbucks is popular and it's not uncommon to have difficulty finding a nearby parking spot. However, the shopping center is plenty big with ample spots further away.
The design and look of this store is cool because of the curvy staircase that hugs the two-story storefront wall of windows to the upper level. The ordering counter is decorated with various bottles of wine and empty wine glasses - you don't see that at every Starbucks. The display case of snacks, pastries, and treats contains a comparatively wider selection of foods to try, several of which look delicate, intricate, and visually appealing.
The special menu is marketed as "Starbucks Evenings" and is available after 4pm. Small plates, around $7 or less each, consist of dishes like blue brie and apricot preserves, grilled vegetables, chicken skewers, bacon-wrapped dates, artichoke & goat cheese flatbread, and truffle mac & cheese and truffle popcorn. Yum. Desserts include double chocolate brownie bites and chocolate truffles in espresso, champagne, and raspberry flavors.
There are about 10 different wines available by the glass or bottle. They include white, red, and sparking wines. Beers cost $4-5 each.
Service is good. The baristas are usually on top of things and the line moves fast. Because this store sees a lot of traffic, it's sometimes not the cleanest, particularly in the restroom and upper level loft area, which is a nice getaway, but not monitored/attended to as frequently. Oh, and there's an outdoor patio too.
