How Starbucks Can Fix Its Racism Problem, According to Consultants | Eater

"After the widely publicized arrest of two Black men, Donte Robinson and Rashon Nelson, at a store in Philadelphia, the world’s largest coffee chain closed most U.S. locations for an afternoon of racial-bias training—an action criticized by some as a performative PR stunt and insufficient to address entrenched systemic racism. The company also announced that anyone may sit in stores and use restrooms without making a purchase, provided employees with new guidelines on when to call police, and committed to ongoing diversity and inclusion training with modules rolling out over 12 months and a planned 2019 conference for 15,000 managers. Independent advisers Heather McGhee (Demos) and Sherrilyn Ifill (NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund) recommended a full-scale racial equity overhaul, including in-store audits for differential customer service or policy enforcement, a comprehensive civil-rights audit of policies and outcomes (including workforce diversity and contractors), reviews of recruitment, hiring, retention, pay, promotion, and grievance procedures, clearer employee manuals that explicitly define and address racial discrimination, a Customer Bill of Rights to be posted in stores with reporting contacts (as proposed by Robinson and Nelson), and steps to mitigate the company’s role in gentrification such as convening housing experts, negotiating Community Benefits Agreements, and using linkage fees to fund affordable housing." - Whitney Filloon

I came here to sit down and enjoy myself. I ordered ahead of time. I got there and there were no tables or chairs. I had to stand and drink my coffee and eat my food. This is a coffee house! Allow people to sit down!

Lousy customer engagement, the team of 4 spent more time gossiping then making drinks. For all the hype of a new Starbucks vibe, this place felt like they didn't give a damn

Thank you to Teddy and Amell for a warm welcome and an easy going atmosphere. Great music. Great drinks. And thank you from everyone at the CVS pharmacy.

I went there this morning to get me breakfast first off my name starts with an A not an H so my breakfast was separated when it was sat on the counter. Number 2 I had to ask for napkins and a straw but yet a lady that came in to pick her stuff that was dressed business casual didn’t have to ask for a thing but her food. My thing is treat all customers the same no matter how they are dressed, race, gender, and etc.

Not a big Starbucks customer, but this is one of the best locations. Great vibes/atmosphere.

I absolutely love this location. I have had 2 experiences where someone came in and took my food/drink. You really should have to show receipt on phone. But whenever I pick up my orders I am greeted by name. When will you reopen?

The new space is way too small. And the employees here are soooo blah they don’t smile they don’t greet you when you walk in look like they hate their job. The place looks a mess behind the counter and in front of the counter. Counters are filthy and the floor is nasty. Girl who made my coffee puts the drink on the counter turns her back and then says “have a good day”🙄 horrible customer service!

AVERY!!!!! The worst Barista I have ever encountered at a Starbucks! I ordered five drinks one of them was not topped with the sweet cream foam as I requested I told her it wasn't she insisted that it melted into the drink as I was standing there I told her it did not because I would have been able to taste it. The person who actually made the drink confirmed that they did not put a sweet cream foam on my drink and Avery wouldn't even apologize after she argued that the service was completed to my specification. SHAME ON YOU AVERY!!!!! She needs an attitude adjustment. Learn to apologize when you are wrong and how dare you argue with a customer and try to justify a mistake that was made on your co-workers behalf
