Very rude. I ran into this Starbucks to get a Refresher on my way to an appt. There was no one at the register (only 1 employee on the floor,) so I went back to use the bathroom only to find it locked with a keypad. I asked for the code, and the employee told me I had to order first. I told him/her I needed to use the bathroom asap and would order afterwards (I even had a tampon in hand and told him/her it was urgent,) and the employee still refused citing he/she could lose his job. So I tried to order, but I felt a lot of pressure in my pelvic area and realized this is not how I, a former barista/shift supervisor who used to work drive thru, nor a paying customer, should be treated. So I said 'forget it, I'll go elsewhere,' and I went to the co-op a block away and bought an Izze soda there. No questions asked, no hassle, and they welcomed me.
Starbucks went from allowing people to shoot heroin in the bathroom to not even allowing paying customers use the bathroom without a hassle. There has to be some middle ground here. it would be ridiculous if I had to order, eat, and pay at a restaurant before I could use the bathroom. Either Starbucks policy is ridiculous, or this employee is inconsiderate and rude.
