Man Spends a Year Eating Expired Food and Lives to Tell About It | Eater

"Recently opened as a lavish 32,000-square-foot flagship and now the company's largest store in the world, this Tokyo roastery is more than a café: it houses a Princi bakery and a cocktail bar and offers theatrical, unconventional beverages — for example, a black tea latte garnished with turmeric cotton candy — positioning it as an experiential destination for coffee lovers and curious visitors alike." - Whitney Filloon

Visited on a Saturday morning in September … no wait to get in. I do not typically drink Starbucks, but I do love quality coffee and read about this place after my last visit to Tokyo, so prioritized for this visit and am so glad I did. The building is amazing and I was fascinated by all the distinctive areas. I sat at the bar on the 3rd floor to enjoy a pistachio croissant and brûlée latte. Both were amazing!!! It was fun watching the baristas create the cocktails in front of me. I will actually return on future trips, the experience was that great.

This is the second Reserve location I have been to, the other one being in Seattle. I thought the selection of food items was pretty good, but the coffee menu seemed more limited. Maybe this is because of the additional tea selection? I liked the multiple floors, but the seating downstairs by the main food and drink area is limited. I tried the tiramisu and it was delicious!! My husband and brother were both less satisfied about the food quality and expected better from a Reserve location

Excellent experience here at one of five Reserve Roastery locations around the world. The whiskey barrel aged cold brew was phenomenal. The sweetness from the oak casks really stood out. Matcha poured over vanilla ice cream was phenomenal. Highly recommend if you haven't tried a Reserve Roastery before. And I don't even like Starbucks coffee.

Google
Really fun visit! Gorgeous facility. I didn’t know before visiting that it’s a legit working factory and you can see beans being packaged and a small assembly line. As soon as you enter there is a line to order food items and seasonal/specialty coffees. Behind it on the main floor is a bakery with bread treats. Above there is a tea floor. And above that is a bar and that level had more dessert treats during my visit. This level also has seating for pour over and drip. If you’re set on ordering sandwich or savory food item, might want to walk in and get right in the line. As after ordering it’s at least a 15 min wait to pick up order. After ordering, explore and look for a seat. The bar was the highlight of my visit. Espresso martini! Gift shop has unique Reserve Tokyo products.

Google
I think this Starbucks Reserve is the biggest Starbucks in Japan 🇯🇵☕✨ I went there last Thursday, and wow — it was super clean, very stylish, and the service was amazing 🙌💫 The food was also really delicious 🍰🥐🍴 I highly recommend you to visit this place! 🌟 When you arrive, you’ll need to make a reservation with a QR code 📱🔗 Don’t worry — the wait isn’t too long ⏳ You can easily check your turn since the staff will call you using the number you receive on your phone 📲🔔 Trust me, it’s worth the visit! 💕👌

We went on Tuesday at noon and we had no wait to get in! We enjoyed the bakery, shopping, and the coffee tasting flight. I liked that you could bring your food and drink to any floor and find seating, including multiple large outdoor terraces that were basically empty! We spent $100 on bakery food & coffees, and another $80 on mugs to bring home.

Google
Interesting experience overall. You have to scan a QR code on the side of the building to join the waitlist — a host was at the front entrance to direct us. We waited about an hour before we could go in. Inside was very crowded, and it took a few minutes to find a table. That said, the interior is impressive — each floor has a unique theme, which adds a cool atmosphere to the place. Pastries and drinks were decent, but definitely on the pricey side. Not sure it’s worth the long wait but certainly a cool place to visit. We still had a good time overall.

FAVEEEEEEE Starbucks in the world!!! Loved loved loved this roastery, it was humongous with 4 floors and each floor had a distinct style and theme; yet the open and busy spaces connected and flowed brightly throughout the roastery. As a steadfast Starbucks fan, I was excited already from the outside and as someone who doesnt even drink coffee, the magnitude of choices available was thrilling! We ordered so many things, including their spring sakura themed cocktails and teas (which was delicious!) and their fresh focaccia and artisanal pizza breads were delicious and perfect!! The many different spaces to sit, outside and inside were beautiful and we eventually settled near the bar 😉. Got a travel tumbler because Im such a tourist and yes i would make the visit 100 times over 😍💯🫶

Yelp
Really fun visit! This is an absolute must-see in Tokyo. The building is massive and absolutely gorgeous! It's spread across 4 floors, each with its own style and vibe, but all super beautiful. The seasonal drinks and food are amazing! We loved the Sakura drink and the Crème Brûlée latte. The pastries were delicious too (perfect for sharing). The upper bar itself is such a fun spot to get a cocktail also! The best part of the whole experience was watching them make the drinks with such a high level of care. You get to see so many different coffee-making techniques up close, and even watch them roast and grind the beans. If you're a coffee lover (or even just looking for a beautiful spot to hang out in Tokyo), this place is an experience in itself. Highly recommend adding it to your list!

Yelp
Starbucks reserve location #3 checked off, first international one on the list & for now my favorite location. There are 4 floors at this location, it was pretty busy here but very well organized. The bar (liquor) here also has beer. The top floor has a seating inside as well as an outside patio with picnic style table and individual seats. The store in general is cool enough to come check out just for the touristy factor.

Yelp
Three floors of Starbucks excitement, very friendly staff, special Starbucks merch for this location only. If you like Starbucks you will enjoy your visit here. Food and drinks were very good prices are average for Starbucks. Recommended.

Yelp
Visiting this Starbucks Reserve was a nice treat while visiting Tokyo. Their food was superb. I especially loved this mango tart from the first floor. I also tried the espresso martini flight. My favorite one was Gift From the Sun! The service was very pleasant. The employees were kind and would strike conversations with us. The design of the interiors was STUNNING! I loved the copper butterflies everywhere. This Starbucks reserve was one of the most picturesque of all the Starbucks Reserves.

Yelp
I visited the Starbucks roastery early morning to grab a coffee as it's one of the only coffee shops open at 7am in Tokyo. They have some speciality drinks specific to Tokyo so I ended up getting an iced kinako latte with jelly and a prosciutto & parm brioche sandwich. Ordering was quick and easy with a pager to let you know when your food/drink is ready for pick up. I loved the kinako latte as the soybean powder added to the creaminess of the coffee and it was the perfect amount of sweetness (not too sweet!). The broiche sandwich however was pretty dry especially with the salty prosciutto and parm inside. Unfortunately the western-style bread in Japan tends to be disappointing so I would skip the baked goods here. The roastery is spacious with a good amount of seating but I can see how it can get busy so come early if you want more of a relaxed environment.

Yelp
Great place to have coffee, pastry or even lunch. Beautiful space, indoors and out. Food was delicious, they serve espresso based cocktails, too. I've been to the Seattle location and had to visit the Tokyo location as I was staying less than a 12 minute walk away. Excellent customer service like the rest of Japan. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Yelp
On a mission to go to all the Starbucks reserve in the world. Only one missing is Italy's. But so far this one is my favorite! The building was really nice and they had unique menu items. Only problem is the wait to get inside. I had to wait over an hour, which to me was extremely long definitely compared to other locations when I essentially just walked right in. But it gave me time to explore the surrounding area. Ig

Yelp
If you're thinking of coming here on a cold, rainy weekend, don't. I did. What a mistake. Didn't read how long it would take until much later. 2-3 hours. You can't just walk in. You have to go to the pop up store that is next door and scan a barcode, where you make a reservation. This is what tells you how many visitors are ahead of you in line. If it says 150, expect a 2-3 hour wait because the tourists just sit there for hours. And you're not allowed to stand and wait around the area. No loitering allowed. Finally, when it is your turn, you show the staff at the front door your barcode. Once I got inside, I went straight to the line and ordered a caprice sandwich, tiramisu, strawberry cheesecake, and chocolate latte. Tokyo roast. It was too late when I noticed they made their own pizzas in house and had a line in the back for those. Luckily, I found a small round table by the door. After I ate my meal, I took a tour of all four levels. Each floor was offering something different. Tea on one of the floors. So many tourists, hogging up all the good tables. You could tell they were going to hang out for a while. Yes, it's a nice Starbucks. They sell some interesting merchandise on the first floor. Because it was raining, none of the seats on the outdoor patio were available. When I left, I noticed it was a staff member manually hand clicking visitors leaving.

Yelp
GENERAL/SERVICE Wow, what an experience! We had a great time at the roastery. The staff are kind and friendly! You can order coffee on the first floor, tea on the second, and seating up thereafter. Different pastries are available on each floor, so make sure to browse before ordering! To gain access, you must visit the merchandise store down the street and scan the QR code. When we arrived, there was around a 2-hour wait, and we were number 800 in line. The time goes by quickly, as there is a Don Quijote nearby as well as other cafes. We also went during cherry blossom season, so walked around the Meguro River while we waited. FOOD/DRINK We ordered the caramel latte, lychee drink, tiramisu, and strawberry cheesecake. The latte was alright, and they do offer different types of beans for the espresso. The lychee drink was light and sweet, and surprisingly the best item we had during our visit. The tiramisu was airy yet creamy, and the strawberry cheesecake wasn't too dense. AMBIANCE The interior is beautiful decorated, and each floor offers a different view of the city. If you can, I would definitely recommend the top floor, as it offers a nice view of the centerpiece, has coffee samples, bathroom access, and access to the deck. We came during cherry blossom season, and the deck was a great place to take pictures of the trees by the Meguro River!

Yelp
This was literally our first stop in Tokyo after dropping off our luggage. We landed early and everything was closed, but we were so eager to get to Starbucks Reserve right when they opened. We tried so many things (some same as last year, some new items), and nothing ever disappoints. We absolutely love their ham and cheese croissant, it was a favorite from last year as well. Drinks here are also always amazing, my personal favorite is the iced matcha latte, there's really nothing I can compare to the quality of the matcha and milk used, so pure and perfection. There is no such thing as going to Tokyo and missing out on the experience of this menu. Must try forsure!!! We have always experienced friendly and nice staff here.

Yelp
Spanning four floors, each level of the Roastery presents a distinct facet of Starbucks' artisanal offerings: 1. First Floor: Features the main coffee bar, showcasing rare Reserve coffees brewed through various methods like pour-over and siphon. 2. Second Floor: Houses the Teavana tea bar, offering an array of teas and tea-based beverages. 3. Third Floor: Home to the Arriviamo Bar, where patrons can enjoy coffee- and tea-infused cocktails. 4. Fourth Floor: Contains the Amu Inspiration Lounge, an event space designed for coffee education and experiences. Central to the Roastery is a striking 56-foot copper cask, adorned with 2,100 hand-hammered copper cherry blossoms, paying homage to the nearby Meguro River's famed cherry blossoms. Culinary Delights Beyond beverages, the Roastery offers a selection of pastries and desserts. We loved items like the Cornetti Sakura (a cherry blossom-themed croissant) for its flakiness and sweet cream filling and Tiramisu Tips for Visiting Best Times: To avoid crowds, consider visiting on weekday mornings when lines are shorter and seating is more readily available. Seating: It's common practice to secure a seat before ordering; leaving personal items to reserve a spot is generally safe and accepted. Location: The Roastery is approximately a 10-minute walk from Nakameguro Station, making it easily accessible for all .

Yelp
You really need to understand what you're getting into before you try to visit this Starbucks location. First of all, it is virtually always crowded. Most commonly, there is a very long waiting list to get inside. The expected waiting time is well posted and it is not unusual that it's up to two to three hours to get inside. Yes, that's a long time to get in here! Is it worth it? If I can start out by addressing that issue, your best bet is to get here very early in the morning or on off days. From this, you may be able to walk through the door fairly quickly. Because soon after that, this place fills up, and the waiting list grows and grows. In terms of the overall experience, this place is highly overrated. It is crowded. It is nearly impossible to find seating. And, the people quite commonly will put their coats, their purses, their backpacks on a seat and take off. Where they go, who knows? But, what happens from this is, that seat and/or table is gone and no one is sitting at them. In terms of the food and a drink, it's all pretty good. Compared to most Starbucks, I would say it's fairly good. But, that's only in comparison. I've had a number of things here. The pastries are all fairly tasty and the sandwiches are pretty good. I do, however, find that the lettuce on their sandwiches is a bit old sometimes. Why they can't provide fresh lettuce? That's beyond me? But again, the food is pretty good. The drinks are also fairly tasty. You should definitely go for one of the more unusual drinks they offer, instead of just the typical Starbucks fare. With this, you will get an overall uniquely, flavored experience, that at least if you had to wait, and are seated at a not very great seat, you will at least enjoy your drink. The other thing about this place that you need to keep in mind is, it has become a tourist haven. Yes, a lot of local people come here too. But most commonly, you'll find a ton of Westerns. If that turns you off, like it does for me, this may not be your spot. The way you get in this place is that you have to go to the building next-door, scan a barcode, and then register and you're given a number. Then, you watch it on your phone. My numbers have been as high as two-hundred. What this number means is that groups of either one to five or so are lumped into that waiting period. So again, you may be waiting for a long-long time to get inside. Overall, this is a very Tokyo experience. Particularly, a modern Tokyo experience. Is it a great fun place? No. But, that's just my opinion. My belief is that this Starbucks is overrated. It's way too crowded. The wait times are way too long. And, the overall atmosphere and the food and all the rest of that stuff it's minimally interesting at best.

Yelp
I visited this Starbucks Reserve during my latest visit to Japan. I was amazed at the size and magnitude of the building. It is 4 stories tall. Each floor is dedicated to a specific theme. The Reserve sells better drinks and food than the regular Starbucks. It even sells liquor drinks. This is definitely worth a stop if you are a Starbucks fan or just want to experience Starbucks in a different way.

Yelp
Five out of five star experience! I really enjoyed the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Tokyo. It was in a calm neighborhood environment and the staff were so friendly. They had multiple floors with different foods and drink options. I really enjoyed my coffee flight and was able to try the coffee in different methods upstairs also had a nice balcony where you can order cocktail drinks, and charcuterie Foods to eat along with it. Typically if it's not busy, you can just walk right in however we went during a busier time and had to get a QR code sign up about half a block away towards the end of the building and waited in queue. The wait was not very long (maybe 20 mins). They have some cute merchandise and I really liked their reserve Tokyo blend.
google avatar

Yelp
Our first time here and we had to wait for 30 mins. We got lucky because I heard it's usually 3 hours or longer, but it was raining so I'm sure that's why it wasn't as busy. I ended up getting a pastry and matcha and it was good! This place was huge - 4 floors! It's Tokyo so it's beautiful! It overlooks the river and it's so pretty during Spring because of all the cherry blossoms.

Yelp
This place is beautiful!!! It was tropical themed when I went and it's four stories high! I was drawn to this place by the bar they have on the third floor. Expect a wait when you come. When you get there (it's a little bit on the outskirts of Tokyo so you need to use the bus to get there, there's no subway exit closeby), you have to scan a QR code to get on the wait-list. The QR code is located about 20 feet from the main entrance. Our wait was only about 30 minutes, so not too bad. The first floor is the shops selling Starbucks roaster Tokyo stuff, as well as tables and where you can order coffee. Second floor has the bakery and some other stuff, third floor has the bar. Many drinks to choose from but don't expect Japan pricing on these, they were more like US pricing. My mini espresso martini flight and one coffee head beer was around $38 USD. You can drink on the patio or inside. We choose to drink it outside. The view is overlooking the river next to the Starbucks. The theme of the decor inside and the signs were tropical. The roastery machines you could see on all the floors since it was so tall. I've only ever been to the Seattle reserve roastery as well as this one and both are beautiful spaces!

Yelp
Love to visit the different Starbucks Reserves when we travel and was extra excited to experience the Tokyo location! Four stories tall, each story has a different Starbucks-theme to explore ranging from an extravagant Starbucks visit to a full Teavana experience to coffee meets mixology. Depending on how much you love Starbucks, it would be easy to spend hours here. Since their specials on their main cafe floor focused on pumpkin and we had already tried them at a different reserve, we decided to venture to their mixology area and try some coffee cocktails. Their seasonal Frozen Espresso Custard was delish - surprisingly light and refreshing. Their menus have little martini glasses next to each item to say how strong they are, so if you're looking for something light on the alcohol, this one is it. Their New Tokyo Fashion is perfect if you're an Old Fashioned lover, but it is definitely on the stronger end. You'll find a nice balcony on the third floor as well. It was cold while we were here, so we just walked out for a quick glance. But it would be beautiful when the weather is nice. If you're a Starbucks fan, they also have great reserve-exclusive and Tokyo-exclusive coffee and merch on the first floor. Quick 10ish minute walk from the subway. Highly recommend if you enjoy your Starbucks.

Yelp
Yelp Review 2024 #192: This Starbucks Reserve Roastery is wild! Four floors of food, tea, and coffee. They open right at 7am. We got here at 6:25am and we had to stand in the rain til they opened. There's not much in the area but I know it's beautiful in the spring during cherry blossom season and you can see them from here. The basement has restrooms. Each floor has tables and chairs. The 1st and 2nd floor has merchandise like cups, mugs, shirts, bags, chocolates, etc. but here's the breakdown of each floor: 1st Floor: Starbucks Reserve Main roaster, main bar, Princi Bakery, retail area, and coffee scooping bar. If you like all things coffee, this is your floor. 2nd Floor; Teavana Teavana bar, tea scooping bar, and retail area. If you like matcha and different teas, this is your floor. 3rd Floor: Arriviamo Bar Arriviamo bar, Starbucks Reserve cold brew bar, micro roaster, terrace, and restroom. 4th Floor: Amu Inspiration Lounge Coffee pack line, terrace, and restroom. In short, it's a huge Starbucks with lots of drink and food options. It's also visually stunning. Chic, clean, modern, spacious, and lots of natural lighting. The service is friendly. After ordering and paying, you'll get a receipt and your buzzer so you know your food/ drink is ready. Of course, I had to get things we don't have in the US. Frozen Matcha Pistachio: With lots of matcha options at this Reserve Roastery, I chose this drink. I like matcha, I like pistachio. Never mind that I'm lactose intolerant and this has vanilla ice cream in it. It's pistachio milk, matcha, and ice cream topped with a whole pistachio. It's like dessert...for breakfast! 5/5 Hot Chocolate Mousse: The cold version of this was fantastic. The hot version was great on a cold rainy day. Rich, creamy, chocolatey goodness! 5/5 Prosciutto Crudo & Parmigiano: Salty parmigiano and prosciutto, fresh basil in a sweet soft brioche. 4/5 Pistachio Cannoncino: Puff pastry shaped like a horn filled with pistachio cream. The softer cousin of a cannoli. 5/5 Fig Tart: A beautiful dessert. I'm not a huge fan of figs so, I can't say much. Cornetto Marrone Cassis: If you like chestnuts and black currant, you should get this. 4/5 Maritozzo Nocciola: Brioche with cream in the middle. It's supposed to be hazelnut but it tasted nothing like hazelnut at all. I ended up throwing this away 1/5 The restroom on the 4th floor was very clean and private. The terraces were vacant since it was raining all morning. We were there for just under an hour and by the time we left, it got busy.

Yelp
We've been to other Starbucks Reserve Roasteries, and this one is probably the best one after Seattle. Located off the beaten path in a quiet residential district but that adds to its charm - especially when you're drinking a coffee on their outdoor patio. You can really appreciate the serenity of the area. They have their own regional drinks, like the other reserves. I, myself, got the New Tokyo Fashion. The drink was tasty, but it was surprisingly strong. Service was efficient, and the food was not half bad. If you're in the area or just like Starbucks and the reserve roasteries in general, highly recommend a quick visit.

Yelp
This Starbucks Reserve is multiple stories and sells bakery, alcohol, and coffee. They also have a specific floor that sells Teavana items, such as tea cups and tea leaves. They do sell specific Starbucks Reserve items on the first floor, such as coffee cups, ornaments, notebooks, candy, etc. They are great gift items to give friends. I had their croissant, Winter Rum Raisin Irish Coffee, and Citrus Coffeemoni (Mocktail). The croissant was delicious and soft. The Winter Rum Raisin Irish Coffee was also good and unique that you can't order it at a regular Starbucks store. The Citrus Coffeemoni was delicious and personally, it tasted better than the Winter Rum Raisin Irish Coffee to me. Everything was honestly great! Recommendation(s): - Citrus Coffemoni - Croissant - Winter Rum Raisin Irish Coffee Service: 5/5 Tip(s): - Plenty of seats available - Restrooms available - Great place to buy and try unique Starbuck items that you can't get at regular Starbucks store

Yelp
Can you imagine waiting two hours to get in here? We found Don Quijote nearby and shopped away. First you go this starbucks store behind it. Get QR code. Sign in. Best to have LINE app. You get to look at the waitlist. When your number is up, you can go in. Nice part, there is a public restroom right in front. The sakura trees are beautiful. We were starving. Everything looks amazing. Read other reviews. The foccacia was amazing. That crust! The matcha cake with strawberries was so good. Got tea and matcha. They offered coffee tasting and tea tasting. I really give kudos to their staff. non-stop for them. They must be so tired by the end of the day, serving people non-stop. Their job looks very exhausting to me.

Yelp
Fascinating! 4 levels of cool things to see! The first floor is the main floor where you can see how the coffee beans are roasted, buy merch, order your coffee and the amazing pastry selection, additionally on the first floor, they have a tiny area similar to a restaurant where they sell foods like pizza and more pastries. The second floor is their Teavana where you can try different teas and they also sell pastries, third floor is their full alcohol bar, and fourth is a cute floor where you can see how the coffee is packaged. I'm not expanding enough on what's to see on each floor because there is so much to see! It's super amazing and one of the best experiences on my trip to Japan. Service can be slow because of the amount of people visiting daily, since it is a tourist attraction, nonetheless amazing customer service. Regrets: I didn't buy the Starbucks merchandise! *crying*. What I've learned going on international trips is if you like something, just buy it, because on the way back you'll just be thinking that you should have bought it.

Yelp
Not your average joe... Omgosh, where to start... 4 beautiful and clean floors of pastries, coffee, tea, alcohol-infused caffeine. I don't remember what we got, but the seasonal drinks were delicious. It was cool seeing the baristas make your drink at the bar. Second floor is tea floor and some more different pastries. You can also scoop your own tea to purchase. There's a cool matcha grinder machine too. First and second floor is where you can buy merch. I wanted to buy everything but had to Marie Kondo myself, because I don't need 10 cups/thermos and JEEZ $35+ for a cup?!

Yelp
This Reserve Roastery is more than just a coffee shop--it's an experience. This flagship store is a four-story space that's a coffee stop, brewery, bakery, and cafe. Plus, the aesthetics are incredible. Parking: If you're in Japan, you probably don't have a car anyways. Pretty difficult to find parking. Your best bet is public transportation. This isn't your typical Starbucks. Each floor offers something unique from crafted coffee options, a Teavana tea bar, artisanal pastries, and even a cocktail bar on the top floor. Having been to many other reserves, this one is on par. The food isn't amazing to go out of your way, but good for Starbucks standards. If you love getting souvenirs, especially ones from Starbucks, this is a must visit. There are tons of unique options for you here. The service here is pretty good, but typical of what you would expect in Japan. Whether you're a coffee enthusiast or just someone who loves unique spaces, the Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo is a must-visit destination if you're in the area.

Yelp
Wow, just wow!!!! Had to sign in and wait for about an hour to get in. My daughter had mentioned about a month before we headed to Japan that she wanted to come here if it was possible. Of course, that meant we HAD to come here. Her brothers were not thrilled about waiting an hour to get into Starbucks.... but at the end of the night I had to force them out so we could get back to our hotel!!!! These are some of the best barista/bar tenders/artists. It was amazing and fun just to sit on the first floor and watch these people making coffee drinks. Then we went up to the third floor and started ordering the cocktails. Then the boys were loving their sister :) The place is just stunning. Every floor. The design, the cleanliness, everything. I could have sat there for hours. Oh wait, we did and just enjoyed ourselves. I am an Old Fashion drinker but my kids were surprised when I didn't order one. I am not a gimmicky Old Fashion guy. I want whiskey, bitters, simple syrup and an orange peel. Put away your smoke BUT always use Luxardo cherries. So when their New Old Fashion mentioned coffee I thought no, I'll try the Black & White Russian. It was very good and then my kids let me taste the Old Fashion. Holy cow, it was sooo good. I mean really good. I started with a Classic Affogato. NO alcohol, just espresso over ice cream. Great treat that was delicious. I then went to the Black & White Russian as I mentioned and it was really cool that they give you the cream in a small container for you to add just prior to drinking it. Of course I was tasting everything the kids were ordering. The Espresso Martini flights, the Old Fashion. I will say I am a huge amber and red ale drinker but thought the Roastery Amber Ale was just OK. We had a tiramisu and some focaccia bread which were good too. It was a really really enjoyable day and a great way to spend with our adult kids. Everybody left happy and rejuvenated (cause it was hot hot hot outside). Thank you Starbucks!!! Now I need to go visit the other Reserve Roasters!

Yelp
a Starbucks Reserve location that i was so excited to visit! we took the train early morning as i had expectations that it would be busy. there are 4 different floors here! the 2nd floor is teavana and the main floor is where you can order pastries and lattes/coffee drinks. there is quite limited seating given the size of the location - i would suggest going earlier if you have a packed day! it was super easy ordering in English and we used suica to pay - they also accept cash. i enjoyed my croissant and my fiancé enjoyed is pastry! would love to come here again!

Yelp
This Starbucks Reserve Roastery is a must visit spot if you are in Tokyo. Inside this location, you'll find Starbucks Reserve merchandise, a coffee bar, gourmet sandwiches, pizzas, pastries, dessert, and a Teavana bar (2nd floor). I would set aside 2.5 hour to check out the 4 different floors, shop, and eat/drink. I came hungry so after picking out a few pieces of merchandise to bring home as souvenirs, I went straight to the coffee bar. The sandwiches all looked delicious but I ended up getting a salami with mozzarella because I like my salty meats. I also got and order of tiramisu and a pistachio cannoli. I ordered one of the seasonal drinks but it was too strong for me. I like my drinks to be sweet and creamy. The staff who took my order could understand English but I just had to speak slow and she re-read my order to make sure I had the correct items. She was very polite and I got excellent customer service. It took about 15 minutes for my drink and to get my food order together. They have seating available on every floor but it gets crowded and you just need to keep an eye out for an open table. One tip is that you clean up your own table when you're done and I don't think some people knew that. This place is not just for tourists, there are locals that hang out, have work meetings, and work remotely in here too. On the 1st floor, in the middle of the store, you'll see the copper cast and on the 4th floor, you'll see the packaged coffee moving down an assembly line. To get here, I took the train to the Shibuya Station from my hotel, got off and hopped on the number 22 bus. Then walked downhill through a residential area, past an elementary school, and started to see the Meguro River and a bridge. This was aligned with the directions I got from Google Maps but there were times where I did think I was lost. Next time, I would just take a taxi from Shibuya Station to here. Overall, this was a very cool experience and I highly recommend coming.

Yelp
With only a few Reserve Roastery locations, a must visit when in Tokyo. It's a bit far but worth it. Four floors specializing in the best coffees and teas. The staff here very pleasant and speaks excellent English. It was a relaxing experience and the highest quality all around.

Yelp
"There are two different categories of love. The first category is called a fairytale. The second category of love is called just another lesson." - Taylor Swift I admit I have lots of friends all over the world. I also admit most are Starbucks regulars, some Starbucks fanatics. そそそ! And like the Taylor Swift song goes... "Starbucks Lovers...". Okay, that's an inside joke. Fun Japan Starbucks Factoids: In Japan Starbucks is known as スターバックス Sutābakkusu, however today, the younger cooler version is スタバ Sutaba! More Fun スタバ Sutaba Factoids: Japan has the best exclusive menu items in the world! The sizes are smaller than American sizes, but it's all about the quality of ingredients here! Japan baristas will not accept tips! Japan baristas are simply next level! So I've been to Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Tokyo several times. And yes, my Starbucks friends get really jealous when I go lol. But hey! This specific location is known as perhaps the most stunning architectural gems of the born in America coffee chain. Yes, it's in the artsy neighborhood of Nakameguro and designed by legendary artist, Kengo Kuma, who used his philosophy as one of connection. Kuma's use of light woods and the four seasons of the Meguro River is no doubt breathtaking. A four storied masterpiece! If I recall, the first level (ground) is where you can order Starbucks Reserve Coffee and exclusive "only in Japan" drinks. Italian Princi Bakery bites can also be found at the far end - get some! On the second level is where you can order Starbucks Reserve Tea Drinks + areas to sit (good luck). On the third level is where you can get skillfully crafted alcoholic Cocktails. More areas to sit and balcony. And on the rooftop there's another miscellaneous bar and where you find the lounge and rooftop balcony. Merch on all floors! On my latest visit it was the start of the Sakura season so I expected it to be crowded, however to my pleasant surprise I walked straight in, like a celebrity walking the Tokyo fashion runway lol. On this visit I wanted something unique here so first I ordered Avocado Toast and Sakura Baby Croissant from Princi. Next, I walked up to the second floor for Sakura Latté (seasonal). Seats were non-existent on the second and third, however the Barista (Arigatō Yuko) told me to hurry up to the rooftop lol. Sure enough I secured a balcony table facing the Meguro River. Be jealous! :D Everything I had was a memorable experience. The Avocado Toast executed perfectly and the Sakura Baby Croissant a treat to my taste buds. The Sakura Latté, in honor of Cherry Blossom season, hit all the right notes. My only regret was not having a bigger glass lol. Sipping, writing my next viral Taylor song in my head, Ahh the beauty of life with rooftop views! In the end, I highly recommend a visit to Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Tokyo. It's a good 10-minute stroll from the train station, but easy to find if you just head towards the Meguro River. In the spirit of Japanese design, each element of the store blends form and function. A visit is not complete without a look up at the Origami ceiling tiles, with its beautiful artistic design and remarkable acoustics. Wa is strong here! This location is by far the most breathtaking Starbucks I've ever encountered. The stunning architecture, the exclusive items, and rooftop experience wowza! じゃ Please follow my adventures on IG: @eric_travel_guru

Yelp
Spent the entire morning here and tried the different types of beverages on each floor. I think only the reserve roastery in Milan is of similar size as this spans four floors; I also read that this the only purposely built reserve Roastery as the others are existing rebuilds. The first floor has your typical reserve menu that's focused on coffee and I got a latte and proceeded to get a croissant from the Paul bakery also on the first floor. The buttery and pistachio filled croissant paired well with the coffee. There is also a retail section on the first floor with only in Tokyo products as well as the Roastery which is very instagramable. The second floor is dedicated to tea drinks through the Teavana branding and I got a sakura tea drink which was very unique and quite fitting for the spring season in Japan. The third floor you can get cocktails and it also has outdoor seating that looks out to the neighborhood and the river/canal out back. It is perfect for sunbathing and people watching. I got an espresso cocktail here as a pick me up. I even used the washroom on this floor which had the typical Japanese toilet with bidet and heated seat and it was very clean. Starbucks Reserve is a great way to spend time in the morning and to catch up; of course it is very touristy as its on the bucket list for many that visit the city. It's about a 20m walk from the nearest metro station. Service here is top notch and we got tastings too of the different coffees. I went mid-week after golden week so there wasn't a line and around 8am so it wasn't that bad but I hear weekends can be busy and you might have to wait (which I suggest going on a different day when you can so that you enjoy the morning).

Yelp
This place is a lot of things, one of them being AMAZING. The drinks that are here exclusively, the food (especially the pizza), all of them are delicious. Not to mention the service and ambiance, the people are SO nice, they do anything to make your experience better, and then the ambiance is a whole other level, it's amazing. So hard to describe, in a good way.

Yelp
If you're a Starbucks, coffee, or tea fan, you have to visit this place! For those that aren't, you're in luck because they offer food and alcohol too! Each floor has a different vibe so make sure to explore each floor. The first floor tends to be way busier than the others so don't be intimidated. Everything we ordered was delicious! Service is very good as well. Starbucks but with Japanese hospitality. It isn't near the train station so from Shibuya Station I usually take a GO or Uber but a friend showed me that we can take one bus back to the station

Yelp
This Four-Story Behemoth Of A Place Is So Cool!!! I was surprised on how nice the location is... I was expecting sky-scraper heaven. But, it's just on the out-skirts of the city. The building is on the corner next to a canal... For how busy this place was, everything was smooth and the experience we had was pleasant. The first floor has the Store with merchandise. The second floor was all Tea. The Third floor had the coffee bar and the alcohol bar. the fourth floor was a bunch of seating. I had the martini sampler and was I lit...!!! LoL. They were super tasty... I classic, one with orange flavors and another that had black pepper but was surprisingly delicious. A really cool spot to check out.. A must if you're looking for something to add to your itinerary.

Yelp
I can't say that I'm part of the cult following, but I'm a fan of Starbucks and any SB Reserve. I fall for the marketing of special coffee roasts or blends and exclusive merchandise. This location was three levels, each being full of people. The store was clean and orderly, there was also a good amount of SB staff to offer any help you might need. The merchandise was plentiful, mugs, keychains coasters, tee shirts, coffee presses and more. In addition to the merch, the first level had a large coffee bean roaster, one counter that offers coffee drinks and some sandwiches/pastries and the counter in the back left that also sells sandwiches/pastries, and other food items. The second floor is mainly tables for dining as well as offering seating outside. I believe the third floor has another counter for buying more savory food items and a bar to order alcoholic drinks. I didn't try the food, as I was only there for merchandise, but this location has a nice environment and is very popular with national/international visitors.

Yelp
I love any Starbucks reserve but the one in Tokyo was amazing! Great coffee and matcha, and even better pastries. Definitely a cool spot to check out if you have the time

Yelp
The most beautiful Starbucks I've ever seen! Staff helped me choose the Lychee Rose tea which so yummy, and so was the sandwich! 10/10 recommend and want to go back soon.

Yelp
Great place to visit if you're a Starbucks lover like me! Delicious pastries and plenty of food options here. Came here for brunch and it didn't disappoint. This place is massive with a cool design. Plenty of seating here. Very clean per usual in Japan. Love it!

Yelp
This is one of the best, if not the best, Starbucks in the world! It's multi-level where each level serves something different (i.e. coffee, tea, pastries, sandwiches) and each level has a different lounge/atmosphere. Also, at different times, you can watch staff roast beans on the first floor. The specialty coffee here is really good. If the line didn't get long, I would've ordered another cup. Lastly, the staff were friendly and patient. They did a great job helping customers and handling the insane crowds. 世界で一番好きなスタバ!特別な豆があって、焙煎を見えます。他には色々なラウンジで座ることができます。いい雰囲気だと思います。

Yelp
This Reserve is amazing. We heard about this place from Tik Tok and had to visit and it did not disappoint! We got there at around 11am on a Wednesday and there was zero wait time. There were plenty of seats so me and the Mrs decided to sit next to the roaster to watch the workers roast the beans. Love how it reminds me of Willie Wonka's factory, but, alas, no orange skinned Oompah Loompas were roasting the beans just regular Japanese folks cheerfully doing their jobs and going about their business. I have to say this place had a great assortment of drinks, food and unique coffee mugs and "stuff" that really sets it apart from the literally hundreds of regular Starbucks in the Tokyo area. There's a huge seating area on floors three and four. Restrooms are clean and a splendid time is guaranteed to be had. I highly recommend visiting this grand Starbucks Reserve in Meguro!

Yelp
The Godzilla of all Starbucks! This is a great destination for both tourists and locals alike. This large 4 story building is the largest Starbucks in the world and located on an unassuming corner in Meguro, just along the riverfront. If you're lucky enough to get a seat on the balcony or by a window, you'll have beautiful views of the blossoming trees in the spring. Taking the trip here from Shinjuku was worth it and such an experience. It's an easy walk from the subway or just a few blocks walk from the bus stop. We underestimated the time we would spend here, thinking it would be just an overrated coffee shop. We were wrong. Give yourself at least 3 hours here and arrive hungry - you'll want to enjoy the view and there are dozens of delectable treats available for purchase, plus different drink menus including cocktails. The first floor boasts a huge coffee cask that rises through all four floors, along with 2 food counters and souvenir displays for their coffee confectionaries and accessories. They currently have sakura limited edition thermoses, mugs, etc. The second story offers another array of pastry and deli selections, along with a coffee bar. Heading to the third floor you'll pass their teacup wall and enter the tea bar. Seating here is minimal. They also have a different selection of pastries that we did not see on the other floors. On the fourth floor you'll find the coffee cocktails and mocktails, along with the renowned espresso cocktail flights. The terrace here is where you want to sit for the stunning outdoor views. If you have the time while you're in the Tokyo area, try to make this a stop.

Yelp
Perfect hanami spot by Meguro River during sakura season. Wait is crazy but you can reserve a booking for 3F terrace seating with additional fee and skip the line (check the sakura forecast and try to book for full bloom days before your visit). Definitely worth it since the waiting queue on full bloom weekends is over 1000 groups! It's a bit complicated because each floor serves slightly different drinks and food. For example, I wanted to order hot cocoa and chai tea from the 3F order counter but was told that's only available from 2F counter. With only 90-min for the reserved terrace seating, it seems a bit rushed to have to go to different floors to check out the menu, place an order and wait for food/drinks. But, again, it's Starbucks during sakura cherry blossom season...so worth the hassle.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Starbucks to visit and its a Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Tokyo. Located in Shibuya, a 20 minute walk from Shibuya Station on the Meguro River is a 4 story Starbucks dedicated to bringing you an excellent Starbucks Experience. Of the two times I've been going early in the morning, it was the best time since we avoided the super long queue as the day went on. We passed by later in the afternoon and saw that the wait time posted was 180-240 minutes. As much as I love this Starbucks, that is 100% not worth it. Floor 1 is dedicated to coffee and pastries, so if you're a coffee lover this is your floor. Since it was springtime they were offering lots of sakura themed drinks and food, so I had to try their Sakura Latte and Strawberry Tiramisu. Floor 2 is dedicated to match and teas, this floor has a much shorter wait than the first floor and they mill their own matcha powder right on the floor. Try out their Matcha Latte which is a little pricey but tastes so good. Floor 3 is dedicated to mixed drinks, so if you love alcohol in your coffee and want to try aged whiskey this is your floor. Floor 4 is dedicated to special events or demonstrations and a lounge. There are lots of seats and tables, but also lots of people so patience and luck is required to getting a table. If you visit the balcony on the third and fourth floor, you get a great view of the city or the cherry blossoms that line the Meguro river. Unfortunately I went during a cold snap and all the cherry blossoms had yet to bloom. Overall awesome place to visit on your next trip to Japan!

Yelp
10 out of 10 you must come here! Even if you aren't a huge coffee fan you will enjoy yourself! Make sure to get a reservation for 30 minute slot. Your drinks and food will not come out in 30 minutes do not be alarmed they do not rush you out. Pro tip: find a place to sit before you order. It's hard to find seats thankfully these lovely ladies flagged me down before they got up. We had a good chat before they got up. This place is magical. The options are endless. Get the link you can see an English menu online. What did we not order, 4 different pizzas, 2 pastries, and 6 drinks. The chocolate cake was delicious, light and creamy, very similar to fudge. Sakura croissant has a sweet custard which is amazing. Our favorite pizza was the white cheese pizza (sorry don't know the name) Costa Rica drip was good. Whiskey cold brew was fire! Rose raspberry & Lychee tea was the best drink I tried hands down! I love anything rose and lychee when you combine them WOW!! You can walk around to smell each loose tea leave they have. I ordered strawberry mint oolong tea for take away. Smart move when you want to try everything in the store. When you sit at the bar, you get to see all the handcrafted drinks as they are made. We were even offered samples of the Tokyo blend which was extremely strong. Bathrooms on the 3, 4, and basement floor. There is an elevator hidden by the bathrooms. If you have the time and love Starbucks you should definitely make a reservation. Either for the main floors or pay for the terrace which has a nice view during cherry blossom season. Absolutely loved this place!!!

Yelp
World's largest Starbucks you say? 4 floors and staircases to explore? If this sounds interesting and you're in Tokyo, then I recommend you go check this out in person. First off, it may surprise you they're in a residential neighborhood, but needless to say, regardless of how you eventually arrive here, you should have some fun drinking, eating and exploring your way around this building. The first floor contains merchandise, and a coffee bar with some pastries. In the back of the 1st floor are more substantial foods, such as pizza like creations. There is a floor that makes alcoholic drinks. I ordered their Espresso Martini Flight and I sure was glad I did. Highly recommended. Service is polite, efficient and as you would expect for Tokyo. Overall, if you like the Starbucks franchise and you're already in Tokyo, you owe yourself to find your way over here.

Yelp
This is my second roastery I have done! I had to go when I found myself in Tokyo and after a subway ride it is a 10-12 minute easy straight up walk I went late into Sunday evening and there was a line to get in. You need to sign up to get into a queue. Once you do it can take minutes to hours depending on the amount of people in front of you We were group 54 and were told it's about 1hr wait so we walked around to the store on the other side to shop in meantime and let me tell you I checked my status and it quickly dropped to group 27 after 15 minutes And before I knew it another 20 minutes later my group was next! It went by faster than I thought Let me tell you I love love to these it's a whole different experience with each other having a different vibe from serving liquor to having unique barista scientific looking made drinks It's just a cool vibe and service is lovely and friendly and great! We all enjoyed I had an oleato and sandwich and pastry No fraps or refreshers btw

Yelp
This is my first Starbucks Reserve Bar experience, and it was an amazing one. This location is a bit far out in the residential Meguro area, about a 15 minute walk from the nearest train station, but it was definitely worth it. There are multiple floors here you can explore, each with unique decor and a different focus (first floor for coffee and baked goods, second floor for tea, etc). The spaces overall were nicely decorated with both indoor and outdoor seating. And although it was pretty busy, we were able to find a table pretty quickly, the lineup for food/drinks wasn't bad. I highly recommend the cinnamon almond milk reserve latte and the tiramisu, both were very well done and super tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful at explaining the different options, and if you order a pourover you get a mini-guided tour of the process. Definitely a fun experience in Tokyo, it's a bit out of the way though and something that can't be rushed so I'd recommend coming if you have a chill and free morning or afternoon.

Yelp
A coffee lover's dream! Exquisite merchandise with the Elite Starbucks Reserve logo. Four floors and coffee roaster. On the first floor coffee, espresso, pastries. To order coffee select your type of coffee beans, French press, chemex, or drip. The second floor has private seating. There is a high end bar Arriviamo on the third floor, which offers coffee with alcohol. Finally, the fourth floor has a private experience, where they provide paid coffee education.
