When the city laid down the curb in the middle of Graham to keep people from turning in and out of the side street or parking lot, I was half relieved and half aggravated.
Half relieved because there is some really stupid, wimpy driving going on in this area, and having wimpy people trying to turn into your lane while being indecisive about whether the car two blocks up is going to suddenly accelerate at three billion miles an hour to wipe them out while making that turn, in front of you, can be really damned annoying.
2/3 aggravated because it immediately makes me think of the right-turn navigation you must do in areas like downtown Bellevue due to the plethora of middle-street-curbs.
and 1/3 aggravated because it makes it harder to get into this Starbucks on my way to... wherever i'm on my way to that takes me down Graham.
Fortunately, that little tiny piece of my brain that actually works figured out that if I turn left a few blocks up, take a right on the first street, and pull into the farther Starbucks drive-thru driveway, this will put me out right by the right-turn only small street that gets me onto MLK in a position where I can hit the left lane quickly to get back onto Graham.
That is... if I can make that right turn through the stupid, wimpy drivers who block the intersection and don't look at me. Understandably so, as they'll see me mouthing obscenities at them.
Anyway, this is a Starbucks, and we all know Starbucks. What I particularly like about this Starbucks is how friendly and chatty the barristas are here. I love pulling in and chatting with them as they make my coffee and search for whichever flavored cake-pop or breakfast sandwich I'm having that morning.
So, if you're headed down Graham towards Beacon hill, turn left a block or two early, make a right, and go get yourself some coffee.
And watch out for the stupid wimpy drivers.
