Robot Servers in Restaurants Are the Latest Technology That’s Tripping Up Restaurant Workers | Eater

"Mobile ordering surged during the pandemic and now makes up a significant portion of transactions; this shift prioritizes speed, produces many special requests that slow baristas down, contributes to burnout, reduces opportunities for the human connection that made cafés a 'third place,' and has helped drive a wave of unionization among store workers." - Caitlin Hart

We came here two days in a row; both times the staff were SO friendly, personable, and professional. Made our orders quickly and perfectly. We dined in, noticing that everyone who came in was greeted and treated with kindness and professionalism. While we were there, a customer came in and verbally harassed and insulted the staff over a very minor issue. Whoever you are, I hope you have the day you deserve! No one deserves to be treated the way you treated the staff over a cup of water. @ Starbucks company, please do better to protect your staff and keep their safety and well-being top priority.

Just here like 35 minutes ago. My brother is a tourist, he doesn’t know Starbucks washroom/purchase policy. He kindly asked this RUDE cashier with TONS of makeup. if he can use the washroom. She literally gave him an eye roll and yelled at him that he needs to purchase first before she can let him in. In a very RUDE way, he also told her he can purchase now so he can use the washroom but was told to lineup. Which he did. Its so uncomfortable to witness this. I look for a supervisor and end up talking to a short caucasian woman with a short hair and told her what happened instead of apologizing she defended her staff right away and told us we should follow the policy. Yes your cashier can inform your customer about this but it a nice way and you are a supervisor you should know better. You should learn how to apologize. You have CCTV cameras there feel free to watch it.. 7:20pm-7:30pm. Both of you shouldn’t be an ambassador of Starbucks.. it’s a letdown.

Asked for a water at 13:30 July 22, 2025. And the only male worker said its for paying customer only??! Is this what Starbucks has come down to? Not even providing the smallest convenience to the customers . I have never had a problem asking for water in other locations. Is that male worker not properly trained?

To the awesome group of baristas working Monday, July 21st around 10:30 AM — thank you for creating such a friendly and kind environment. You greeted me right away and one could tell you all worked smoothly as a team! Thanks for the great cafe misto & perfectly heated egg white bites! Cheers! :-)

While supporting local businesses is always important, I also want to recognize the amazing team at Starbucks Granville & E Pender. The staff here is simply exceptional—always attentive, friendly, and with a great attitude that brightens any day. Every visit is a pleasant experience thanks to their impeccable service and the consistent quality of their drinks and products. This location has definitely earned my preference, and I will continue to support these incredible employees who do an outstanding job. As someone who appreciates both Mexico and Canada, I love seeing great service and hospitality wherever I go. Thank you for your hard work and excellent service

Hoooolly Fck!!! 😱They run this place like a well oiled machinery! I come here every day and been trying to see if it’s same every day. The best experience. The staff here is superb. They are running around with such urgency. I can’t believe I’m writing a review for Starbucks. 🤷‍♂️

I lost an AirPod underneath their refrigerated display. It’s bolted to the floor so we couldn’t simply move it. I had booked an Apple appointment for replacements but received a call not even an hour later from this location. They somehow managed to fish it out — it’s obvious they made it a priority. Thanks guys :)

Yelp
matcha just hits different with flavoured cream foam. i had a grande iced lavender cream oat matcha latte, and the floral notes really elevated the subtle matcha, smooth, creamy, and refreshing. this starbucks location on 720 granville blends modern and natural elements, with warm wood tones, industrial accents, and plenty of natural light. a striking driftwood is on display, sourced from vancouver island, adds an organic touch. the highlight is a mural of a vintage starbucks storefront framed by soft muted florals, making the space feel both nostalgic and inviting. with a mix of comfy lounge chairs and communal tables, it's a great spot to work, relax, or catch up with friends. this used to be a reserve, but even without that designation, it has its own unique vibe and charm.

Yelp
This afternoon around 2:30 pm February 18, 2025 Anne, your 30 something year old server refused to give me a cup of hot water for my disabled senior citizen friend who just purchased a chai tea , Telling me abruptly " we only do that for paying customers" When I showed her the unopened tea , she said, " Well, I'm only doing this this time only " There were no other customers and we shall not return to this location again after spending hundreds of dollars as paying customers.

Yelp
I usually come here before I start my office time. Since this is a busy location, I prefer to place an order to pick up. Their ham & cheese croissant is amazing and their Oag Nog Latte is really good. This location has a great decor, and they change their decor accordingly to the season.

Yelp
One of the craziest and busiest Starbucks in Downtown. There is always a line up. Startbucks is Starbucks. Never been disappointed. Love their drinks. This is one of the Starbucks that getting a seat is quite difficult. Very centralized and busy

Yelp
This is a very busy Starbucks, right in the heart of Granville and West Georgia area. There is a constant stream of customers, people waiting to order and to get their drinks or food. There are tables outside which are great for people watching when the weather is nice. I will basically order to go as it is too crowded to get a table, especially if you are in a big group.

Yelp
Grabbing breakfast at a fast food place is always tricky, -there's never any healthy options. Starbucks is a great place for me to grab some food in under 8 minutes tops. I love their Egg White Spinach Wrap or their Ham and Egg on an English Muffin. Both are heated up for you and you're out the door as quickly as you ordered. Note - Make sure to go before 8:45AM though, it was a mad rush for coffee that at time.

Yelp
Surprisingly there's barely any line and yet the barista screw up on who needs to order next and giving customer's drink in different orders. I was at the front of the line and the barista called next so I went up and she left me to do something else. Came back and asked who's next? Umm... me? I'm standing in front of you. Do you need glasses??? After all the ordering was done, the person's behind me got their orders and just when the barista was about to hand me my order, another customer started asking her something. Instead of handing me my order I stood there for an extra 1 to 2 minutes just to get my drink when it was already done. Oh by the way, the double fudge chocolate bar frappe is pretty good especially if you like chocolate. I got it half sweet 'cause I don't like overly sweet stuff.

Yelp
The usual Starbucks service. Efficient with a smile. Very busy due to the central location.

Yelp
Not a fan of Starbucks, came to this location as construction going on Tim Hortan's Granville station, Starbucks server Jose was rude as hell, he gave me one more reason not to switch from Tim's to Starbucks, not coming again to Starbucks specially this location. Have to give One star only to post this review Bagel I picked up was good Service ZERO

Yelp
It's actually closed right now for 5 weeks apparently. Tried to go there this morning but they aren't open. The staff handing out free coffee said it's a plumbing issue and they're closed for five weeks.

Yelp
What. I don't know that I belong here. Here, one of the most generic chains to ever grace the planet -- I don't know that I belong here. Here, at this partcular location, where every type of person that has ever walked the streets of Vancouver (literally, I mean this not as hyperbole, but quite literally *every* type of person that could or has ever been to this city is in this Starbucks at any given moment) -- I don't know that this is my place. Also, the coffee is cold. When it's meant to be hot, the coffee is cold. Entertaining though. Moreso than any other Starbucks I've been to. So, for that: three stars?

Yelp
My friend and I were exploring around Downtown and decided to grab a quick cup of coffee. As soon as we entered the store, we were surrounded by least forty more people huddled info the store. The lineup was also extremely long, but I didn't mind. After a while, I ordered my coffee, and waited beside the receiving counter to pick it up. I was listening for my name to be called, but nothing had been said so far. After about twenty minutes, I started to notice that people previously behind me in the lineup started get their names called and pick up their coffees, which had me slightly annoyed. I decided to ask the barista if they were still making a Venti Mocha, which I ordered. As I made eye contact with him, he just glanced away and completely ignored my question. And so I sat in silence, still waiting. After everyone that had been in the lineup when I ordered had already left the store, I noticed a white cup sitting on the corner of the barista's counter, away from the receiving counter where I could just pick it up. I wanted to reach over and check if it was mine, but I didn't want to intrude their space as the cup was inside their working area. I asked the same barista if he could read what the name was on the white cup, just in case if it was actually mine. Instead, he just talked at me with an annoyed expression which I couldn't hear the words of because of the crowd around me. At this point I was already frustrated, and I just decided to reach for the cup anyway. That same barista gave me a bad look while I reached for it, but I really couldn't have cared less. I turned it around, and sure enough it was my drink (cold at this point). I was so done with the place that I just left, and decided to never come back.

Yelp
Starbucks is kinda meh, but consistently so! Okay, I like to admit that I like the fancy stuff, but I still secretly think of Starbucks as my comfort junk food cafe...like McDonalds. Really bad, but it makes me all warm inside. I'm here about 3-4 times a week due to working right next to them. The staff is always nice (some of them remember my drinks), and they get through lines pretty quickly, even when the Olympics were on! I love their music too - it's the same in every store, but hey, any place that plays Neil Young consistently is awesome in my books. I love getting half-sweet chai lattes in winter, and coffee frappuccinos and easy-ice black tea lemonades in the summer. I must say though, that I hate the coffee with a passion. There was this one time they had free Pike Place if you brought your own mug, and I had to dump that stuff out, ugggh. I didn't learn my lesson though, and tried the next day...same thing. I'm dumb. Just get any other drink (where the cream and sugar mask the taste)...but no plain coffee!

Yelp
More public bathrooms downtown, lower prices. Shouldn't have to buy a coffee to use a toilet, or 12% GST I waited almost 30 minutes for a one stall filthy toilet with urine on the seat, because there were no public washrooms in downtown vancouver. The Sky train has no public toilets. Vancouver can afford to bring the Winter Olympics, here charge the highest prices in the world for food, housing, and a controlled nanny state with a 300% markup on alcohol sales, but no place to take a piss except some alleyway. Most livable city? not!

Yelp
This location is like many other Starbucks on terms of product offers and coffee. I must say this is a busy location so be prepared to wait and pay attention to your name getting called! Place was very clean considering how many people were passing through.

Yelp
The Starbucks that I normally hit up on my way into the office doesn't redeem rewards because of licensing so I had to come here. Let me just start with the service. There was no service with a smile, no asking my name for my order and no warmth to the whole experience. The experience was so blah that there isn't much more I can say. It's sad really because I want to like them, I really do. I don't do good when I don't like something.

Yelp
One of the better Starbucks in downtown. Very good ambiance, friendly staff and great service. There is always a lineup here, but the staff is able to pick up the pace very nicely and get through everyone's order quickly. Try their Clover machine instead of your regular view if you got the time. Yes it can get rowdy sometimes (there was a fight in here moments ago), and all sorts of ppl make their way here. But this is downtown core, and on Granville no less. If this bothers you, then visit one of the more quiet ones on Robson.

Yelp
Standard Starbucks setting, central and convenient. No armchair area, but plenty of bar-style stools. Chair seating in the window front and outside

Yelp
This one was right off my new bus route. I find the staff to be impolite, service slow and that they are more interested in chatting amongst themselves than helping the customer. Taking my business to the oak and 22nd one or Granville island one. Not my bus stop anymore.

Yelp
One of my favorite Starbucks locations downtown. They've never made any of my weird drink requests wrong, and we went here after the one a block away really messed up a drink for my friend. The girl gladly wrote it down and they made it again for us so we didn't have to walk back. Staff is friendly, and very courteous.

Yelp
Just bought a drink here. Excellent service as usual Would recommend this location as they are really busy but fast and efficient. Perfect for downtown workers on granville like myself.

Yelp
We went in just after 10pm on a Friday night, and managed to score the corner table in the back, which has nice perspective for people-watching. The noise level was pleasant for conversation, and as a total bonus, they still had my fave pumpkin spice - including the sprinkles! - in stock at the beginning of March. I like to have my pumpkin spice lattes as long as it feels cold outside, and since I was born in California, that means way past March ... Like as in June. I also wear long johns every day from September to basically May. Which was probably more info than you bargained for in a Starbucks review ;)

Yelp
I've said it before and I'll say it again, you don't go to Starbucks for the food and drink. You know that's going to be ok because you've already been to dozens of Starbucks. You go there because of the staff, because they're friendly and knowledgable and usually genuinely pleasant people. This Starbucks has all that, plus a decent amount of seating, plus a crazy convenient location. Huzzah!
google avatar

Yelp
My best friend and I love this location. Very friendly and humorous staff. Before a Commodore or Vogue show my best friend and I hit up this joint to shop talk, have a snack and kill time before going into the venue. We find it more amusing to talk to coffee lovers than getting into the venue early to talk to bar stars. They are a smaller location, therefore, their cooler isn't as stalked as the other locations, however, beggers can't be choosers. Because it is so close the venue's we can keep an eye out for when the doors open so that we are not waiting in the cold but rather inside with a nice warm lattee.

Yelp
very convenient meeting place downtown right by the Vancouver City Centre skytrain station. And free wifi too! otherwise it's the standard Starbucks coffee and fare.

Yelp
I told the cashier that I absolutely NEEDED a venti java chip frapp because I had a bad day at work, she was genuinely sympathetic and wished me a better day. Then she added free extra whip. God bless you, Starbucks.

Yelp
I'm going back to Tim Horton's after this morning... don't bother asking my name if your going to give me a completely different name than what i said. I actually spelled it out on 2 occasions and how they got Rachel I'll never know... then pushed the drink at me this is yours after I ask what's going on with my order, i get to walk around morning with a cup with some other chicks name..real great start to my morning. -sigh-
