These Are the Major Food Chains Requiring Masks Right Now | Eater

"Having required employees to wear face masks since April, the coffee chain expanded its policy to require customers at all stores beginning July 15; patrons who refuse can still use drive-thru lanes or order grab-and-go, reflecting an attempt to balance customer service with worker and public health protections across its roughly 9,000 locations." - Elazar Sontag

Starbucks Reverses Earlier Policy and Will Allow Employees to Wear Black Lives Matter Clothing | Eater

"After employee backlash and a #BoycottStarbucks movement, executives reversed an earlier restriction and announced that employees may wear a BLM pin or t-shirt, saying “We see you. We hear you. Black Lives Matter.” The company plans to print 250,000 shirts created with its Black Partner Network that include slogans such as “Black Lives Matter” and “No Justice No Peace.” Critics note that this follows an internal memo that limited employees to company-issued buttons and discouraged items that ‘advocate a political, religious or personal issue,’ instead steering staff toward a pre-approved Black Partner Network shirt that reads “keep it brewing” with a steaming cup overlaid by a map of Africa. Observers and employees argue that branded apparel and a $1 million commitment to racial-equity organizations are insufficient, especially given the company’s prominent and recurring Pride merchandise (rainbow mugs and tote bags) and reports of partners facing harassment for wearing supportive pins. A now-deleted internal video from the VP of inclusion and diversity warning that “agitators” could amplify divisiveness, along with feelings among managers and baristas of being muted or ignored, have intensified criticism and fueled public boycotts despite public statements from leadership about empathy and inclusion." - Elazar Sontag

20250518 Restroom was clean. Cherry Chai Latte with Coconut Milk was as expected, and so was the walnuts banana bread. Service was good, but not welcoming.

I always order on the app and it's always ready when I get there and made just the way I ordered it. Staff have always been friendly. Yesterday I had the strawberry chocolate Frappuccino and let me say it tasted just like a Chocolate covered strawberry. It was so good. I definitely recommend getting this.

Google
Swung by on a road trip and was so impressed with the friendliness of the staff, despite the fact that it was very busy. They were efficient but clearly enjoyed their work, and I was sad to leave! Definitely a great experience.

Google
Absolutely the best Starbucks I’ve ever been to. I am (or was because I sadly moved away from this location) a very frequent customer, nearly daily when I lived here. I always got the same drink, unless I was feeling adventurous some days. The staff knew me to the point where they would say hi as I pulled into the drive through and let me know they already have my order ready for me. I’m in a wheelchair, so drive thru was usually my selection, but occasionally I wanted to go inside. If any of the baristas saw me coming, they would quickly run over to hold the door for me. That type of kindness is what this world needs. My drink is usually the exact same daily and always made with care and accuracy. This location was the only reason I was sad to leave Williamsport area, but if I’m ever in town — I will always stop here! If any of the baristas are reading this review, you all are awesome — keep doing what you’re doing and don’t stop being the sweet souls you are. Sincerely, the Mango Dragonfruit girl.

Google
Excellent service at this location - the staff are STELLAR! The employees staffing the drive-through during the early morning shift at this location are absolutely wonderful. Their friendly and pleasant demeanor - whether I'm dropping by at 5:00 am or 9:00 am - always makes my mornings just a little bit better.

Google
Cute little Starbucks located in an easy to find place. Surrounded by some nice places including a Dayspa, a salon, a ceramics glaze diy store, Chinese and sub shop. Nice outdoor area with chairs and tables with umbrellas. The service was good, the products are always good, the people are always super friendly and the store is always clean. It's a great spot to meet friends or to chill on your own. My only gripe is that the flower beds need some touching up.

Google
Food portions keep getting smaller. Better value is a sit down, locally owned restaurant. Baristas with nose rings are a real turn off.

Google
Super rude and REALLY racist made me wait 20 minutes AND GOT MY DRINK WRONG. Was very rude when he seen my darker skin color. Man was light skin, had a beard and facial piercings FIRE FIRE FIRE

Yelp
This Starbucks was pretty clean, spacious and had quick service. They had a number of online orders ready for pick up, meaning they had them ready before the customers actually thought they were ready. It was a quick stop off of the 180 interstate. Two one-person bathrooms. I had to wait five minutes on our second stop here in two days. I described a drink and the barista was kind enough to make it.

Yelp
Went to the Starbucks in williamsport pa. On academy st. Got charged for the largest strawberry refresher got a grand. Same with the ice coffee I ordered. Ordered same size got a grand.

Yelp
RIDICULOUS!!! What a terrible experience! Usually one goes into the store to make things quicker. Nope. Not even. There were 7 people behind the counter and a huge wait in the store. I placed a mobile order around 11 and never got my drinks till almost 1145. No apologies other than: "sorry for the wait" was yelled over the counter. There was no rhyme or reason for the workers and no urgency from any of the baristas except maybe one. Several were standing at machines doing nothing. I will say despite the long drive thru that line remained moving. Next time I guess that'll be the way to go. If this weren't the only Starbucks in town I would not return.

Yelp
This review is based on the standards they are conducting during Jan 12th, 2022. Yes covid is still happening BUT the masking and social distancing in this location weren't an issue last wk. people were sitting inside, enjoying the atmosphere and today they don't allow indoor seating! I have no clue why, or better yet you even bother being open. The service here sucks so bad. They are rude and slow...

Yelp
Visited this Starbucks on my way home from a backpacking trip North of Williamsport. Since my friend and I had been drinking instant coffee on the trail, a clean bathroom and a strong cuppa was first on our priority list. This place was PACKED, so the slow-moving line was no surprise. There was plenty of seating inside while we waited, and even though it took a while, our drinks were made as requested, cost about $9 for our two Ventis, and neither of us died from the experience. So, success?

Yelp
I love coming in and getting special delicious drinks. I don't mind the wait, and I understand everyone has their own order. I can't customize my drink to my needs on the app, and when I came to order I had asked for blueberries blended in. As one worker said yes, another came on and yelled "NO." So, understanding it can be busy and tedious I ask for them on top. As the same worker says yes the same lady that came on again yelled "NO, sorry no fun today" so I had to spend $8 on a drink I didn't want. Overall love this place and the options. But this experience was rude and and looks bad on your company. So we went to another and got the drink I actually wanted...

Ryan W.

Yelp
10-15-2023 I went here. The baristas at this Starbucks DO NOT know how to make any drinks apparently. Every time I've gone they don't make any drinks right, and they are extremely rude. Whoever was working the drive through at 6 pm had so much attitude over a simple question I asked. This Starbucks needs to be RE-TRAINED ASAP.

Nicholas W.

Yelp
As I haves stated before this is the worst Starbucks in the area 5 miles away in Muncy are way better. Went in and ordered my drink waited ten minutes no one called my name at 15 mins I go up and ask if they still had my order incase my tag got lost. Nope the drink was never called out by name cause the employee put it in the mobile pickup spot when the cup labeled cafe. Got no apology whatsoever my drink now the chocolate cream cold brew the cold foam is broke so there is no layer and the drink was made wrong. The foam was not creamy it was watery and the drink was missing the extra three pumps of vanilla pretty sure it only had three instead cause ordered it 2 days prior and it was good. Was not asked if it needed to be remade since it had sat out. I would just save your money and go to another one this one is not Starbucks it's a sad imitation of what it's supposed to be.

Yelp
Always out of stock of 99% if things. The food is great and the service is great. The cake pop is just great.

Yelp

Yelp
As a former barista who was here when we opened this store, I am appalled at the lack of customer service and the fact that I have now been waiting 20 minutes for my drink with 9 people ahead if me and NO ONE has moved to get a drink except for the drive through line. They do not call out names so that the names can be heard over the music, there is no sense of urgency or order, and no one engages with any of the customers. This used to be a place that was known for accuracy, taste, speed, AND the 3rd space, now it is just a disaster.

Yelp
Pitful. Just pitful. Now there is an "up charge" for cream. I just found out that my special order coffees have been keeping me out of ketosis BECAUSE these morons can't make a cup of coffee. Apparently my plain coffee with sugar free syrup has been being "doctored" by Starbucks preferences not mine. And I'm paying 12.00 for two tall coffees at this place?!?!?!? WTH So be. VERY CAREFUL if your a diabetic. This place will kill you and not blink an eye. They don't care if they feed you the sugar you didn't request. They do it for their jollies I guess. Be very careful. Just ordered a skinny drink and it's not labeled right. I'm tired of this place.

Yelp
Amazing workers, very attentive, quick orders, clean store, amazing service I went to this store the other morning and i ordered a venti machiatto and it was delivered just as i ordered within minutes

Yelp
If I could choose less than 1 star I would. Since the new Manager took over at Williamsport Starbucks a year or two ago, the service has gone downhill fast. In fairness to her, maybe the way they do things now is not dictated by her, but by corporate, i don't know. But, I don't run into these issues in Lewisburg, Selinsgrove or any other Starbucks locations. In Williamsport, the drive thru is everything to them. Customers that come inside, are treated disrespectfully, rudely, and ignored like we are a nuisance. That attitude doesn't come from one specific barista, but almost all of them. This specific locatioin is a revolving door of employees for the last couple of years, and I have been going there since the day they opened that location. There have been numerous times (before covid), that I would come in, be the only person at the counter waiting to be served, and have waited up to 8 minutes for someone to stop filling ice, or checking stock, or filling up empty shelves, or helping the drive thru, or or or or. Name it, it doesn't matter. Then, once the order is placed, its a crap shoot on how long it will take to receive your order, and if your order will be correct. In January of this year (2020) i was the only person in line, one car in the drive thru, and it took 7 minutes to be waited on for a cup of black coffee, and another 7 minutes after ordering it, to receive it. Yes it was ready, and not a pour over. The barista took my order, then started preparing food for the drive thru car, rather than getting my my coffee. Another time, I ordered a simple "Flat White", that with only one order in front of me, took 20 minutes to get my coffee. The service is the worst of any Starbucks I have been to, and I travel all over the country on business. Cleanliness. Again, another weak spot in Williamsport. I have taken pictures of the bathroom trash cans overflowing with garbage in the evenings, and upon returning in the morning, it's the same. I've sent pictures of things like this, or trash on the floor in the dining area, that has been laying there for days, or dust so thick on the window ledges, it looks like it hasn't been dusted in months. It goes on and on. Upon sending these pictures to corporate or e-mailing them to make them aware of service or cleanliness issues, I typically get a return call quickly (to their credit). Their response to me is usually to try to give me free Starbucks cards to use there, of which I always refuse. Like i tell them, I'm not telling you all of this to get free stuff from you, I'd like you to fix the systemic problems of horrible and unfriendly service and bad management here. I have since decided to spend my money at Backhouse Coffee shop on 4th and Maynard, as they are a privately owned company, extremely friendly, fantastic service, food and coffee, always clean and inviting and enjoyable. I highly recommend, if you are seeking out a new spot for coffee. I've been supporting Williamsport Starbucks for many years. I may possibly stop in occasionally in the future for an occasional flat white, but 99.999% of the time, I will be supporting my coffee addiction at Backhouse.

Jon Y.

Yelp
I think this has to be the worst place to get coffee. At any time of day. Open to close. 1. The store inside is horrible. They're rude, inattentive, and careless. Two workers dropped drinks as I was waiting for mine. 2. The wait for your drink in the drive thru, will be around 10-25 minutes. You will be there, keeping people from leaving their parking spots, for quite a bit. 3. If you make a mobile order using the app, you better wait till you're up to the machine to put it through. They will hand you a melted drink if you put it through any time before that. 4. Just look in front of you once or twice, and you'll see the clerk having full on conversations with people, especially after they get their drinks. TL;DR, long waits, unclean store.

Dale D.

Yelp
This place is amazing, friendly, and fast. I always enjoy the drive thru and how positive every employee has been. I tend to go at night, close to closing and they are still 100% all about the customers. They always sound happy to serve you. One employee, who I can't remember the name of, tells me compliments when I'm at the window and it always brightens my day. I just moved here and this is defiantly the best part about the area if you love coffee and Starbucks!

Yelp
The food and service was really good the workers there were so nice and friendly they loved our dancing and the drinks were great but I got a cream frappe when I ask for a coffee frappe so and the cake pops were sooooo good

DeweyCheatam A.

Yelp
WILLIAMSPORT, PA NOT San Francisco. For at least the third time in less than a month, my latte arrives home with my husband with NO FLAVORING OR SWEETENER in it. Kinda sucks paying over $6 a pop to get less than I expected. Now I'll just do the curbside pickup at Sheetz. Their lattes are always perfect, and they're cheaper.
google avatar

Yelp
Customer service is beyond horrible, they will take care of drive threw and online orders before they give 2 shits about someone standing at the register

Yelp
Drinks are always made wrong and sloppy with coffee all over cup. Most of the time I feel like it is a waste of my money.

Freak0Artemisia ..

Yelp
Mary R. seems to have never been to a Starbucks. It almost sounds as if she wrote the review having gotten her hopes up for her something within her comfort zone. I am here to counteract her review. As all grocery stores offer a bit of a different selection, coffee shops, bakeries, cafe's, etc., are all different in their own right. Going to a shop that specializes in coffee; in this case, more just the flavoring; and expecting some ordinary cupp'a joe... hmmm.. The point in going to a coffee shop is to see what its on about, what they specialize in, what they offer, and where created for.. Starbucks was birthed in the 70s, I believe, and it has grown, and become quite commercialized, so it's not so much of a "local business", but it was nonetheless created for it's own reasons. Coffee. shops. specialize. in. different. types. of. coffee. if they have chosen not to serve youre style of coffee, wouldnt it save you some not to get angry about it, but to respect it?... I can back up the other review though.. sometimes they have bad days, but at what time did you go to the location? was it rush hour? The point of putting up a review on yelp is to let people know of your personal experience, relative to what you thought it would be/thought it should be, with the due respect that no one and nothing owes you anything.

Amy B.

Yelp
i am not going to give a bad rating because my drink was made well, but do not be fooled by a short line inside. two lattes took 45 minutes to make. not an exaggeration at all. workers were basically just servicing the drive through which i get because the line was very long. but also i feel like if you are getting in a line of twenty plus cars you should expect a ling wait there. i feel like they should just fulfill orders as they come in. many cars passed through in the time i was waiting.

Dusty S.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst Starbucks. The drive thru is terrible and unsafe due to the parking and tight turning. I went inside waited for 15 mins only to find my drink had been setting unnoticed by the server. Left only to find out it was not the drink I ordered. Went back the next day to give them a second chance only to be yelled at from someone behind the counter that my mask wasn't up under my glasses. Enough is enough I will support the local coffee shops in town like Alabaster Coffee shop around the corner.

Lauren S.

Yelp
I have been to many starbucks in my time, but this one by far is my favorite. The workers NEVER mess up my drinks (except one time when they made my drink hot when I ordered iced, but they happily fixed that) and the workers are all extremely kind. Especially Kelly, who honestly deserves a raise because her customer service skills are phenomenal.

Tara H.

Yelp
Usually have good service however today was a awful. I went inside and waited 20 minutes and the line didn't even budge. Then I went through the drive thru because I noticed it was moving much faster. Got through the drive thru in 8 minutes tops. I saw multiple people I was waiting in line with still waiting. Very very awful service.

Leslie G.

Yelp
I frequent this Starbucks because I have no other options near where I live. Sadly. This particular store goes through employees like water. Which is weird, because the manager is very outgoing, friendly and accommodating. I just made a purchase and I had to be the one to say hello. The employee never smiled and never said thank you. He put my pastry in the bag with his bare hands and it broke in half in the bag and he never said anything. Poor representation for Starbucks. My drink was mediocre, at best. In fact, it's a crap shoot whether or not it will be good. I sure hope Starbucks will stop treating the Williamsport Starbucks like they don't like them or its regulars may find a new place to frequent. Like home.

John S.

Yelp
Absolute worst experience. Asked for Pike Place, Italian then Veranda blend. They did not have any brewing. Never ever experienced anything like that mess.

Carley V.

Yelp
awful starbucks! there was barely anyone in the store, they had 3 people working and it still took 30 minutes to receive just 2 drinks. slow slow service and they dont even care that they are slow. avoid this location.

Kayla K.

Yelp
Over my lifetime experience of going to Starbucks, it's been an overall success. I especially love the Chai Creme Frappuccino, but there have been a couple times within the past few months that have made my customer experience feel uncared for. First off, I know this isn't the local Starbucks' fault, but prices seem to be through the roof. The quality usually matches this price so I don't usually complain, but when ordering breakfast sandwiches that are only as big as my palm (and I have small hands) costs an estimated four or five dollars, you start to feel a little duped. The second experience that happened to me, just this morning about 30 minutes ago, is the poor customer service. My friend and I were very polite with our order, ordering three drinks (for us and her father) and asking for a simple cup of water as well (she always gets a cup of water on the side as well as her drink). Our basic patience was not expected to be met with the snide and snark of the drive-thru worker who neglected to wish us a simple good day (which I know as a drive-thru worker myself to always wish a customer a nice day and to be always be kind, no matter if they were rude to you first or not, which we were not). She was very bland and disdainful in her interactions with us for no apparent reason to any of us in the car, and for that I am dropping your fifth star. Love you, Starbs.
