Seattle’s Temple Pastries Is Opening a Pizzeria | Eater Seattle

"Opened in Bellingham by Jordan Koplowitz (a former Blotto co-owner) and Christy Wyble (the former front-of-house lead), the new restaurant drew high praise from Seattle Times food writer Bethany Jean Clement, who said it "is 1,000% worth the road trip — and, somewhat unbelievably, even better than the great Blotto in several ways." The restaurant's website warns it is "currently very busy," a likely effect of that Times story." - Harry Cheadle

fantastic little wine and pizza place. Pizza was exceptional, high quality ingredients cooked perfectly. The wine selection offers exclusively organic wines which is excellent. The staff is friendly and prices reasonable. Do note that the prices you see on the wine bottles are for drinking it there(includes corkage) if you buy the wine to take home it's significantly less money.

Pizza Perfection! Truly amazing pizza - easily among the top 5 I ever had. Perfect crust, great sauce, and delicious combination of toppings. Easily five stars for the food. The atmosphere and the lack of enthusiasm of the staff leaves something to be desired.

We had a great meal at Starla’s. Nice ambiance and good service. Highly recommend all the antipasto and Caesar salad! So delish. Pizza was very good! I very much recommend Starla’s if you’re looking for a good low key but delicious meal. I love Bellingham but its food scene has been lacking for years. I am very glad to see some new good restaurants in town. Hometown change I can get behind. Nice job y’all!

Extremely well curated from the wine selection, to the ambiance, the music and of course the food. We loved it! Exactly the kind of date night or hang with your friends wine spot that Bellingham needs. The staff is friendly but more importantly knowledgeable about wine so feel free to ask if you’re intimidated by the list and need help picking something out to drink. Can’t wait to go back. Starla’s is excellent addition to the Bellingham Restaurant Scene.

This place is amazing. We came here for our anniversary dinner and the vibe was perfect. Cozy, great ambiance, lots of little nooks. It felt very European. They brought out a little candle once the sun set. Pizza was SO good. So was the Caesar salad—it comes with breadcrumb croutons and a cloud of Parmesan. Fun wine selection. Lots of great attention to detail in their decoration and service. My only wish would be to have a little dessert selection! Maybe a cannoli? Tiramisu? Or even just a pairing with a local dessert place?

Starla's is great for pizza and drinks. We came here for early dinner, and the pizza takes a little while but they make it very very well. I highly recommend and I'm glad they're in Bellingham.

Starla’s is of my favorite establishments in Bellingham! Definitely my favorite place to grab a glass of wine and a bite to eat. There’s also always good music (live or not)!

Great little spot in downtown, really busy on a Saturday, no call ins just order in person and wait, 45min for this one but it was worth it, this is the best pizza in Bellingham hands down. Great crunch on this pizza, underside is perfect, did lose some crunch towards center but l'll give it the benefit of the doubt it seemed like it was in the box for a little bit. Cheese is great didn't pick up much of the parm however. But the best part is the sauce, wow is that sauce good, not too sweet and really nice punch of umami in there. Worth the wait and $18 is not bad for a quality pizza in this economy.

Yelp
Cozy, casual wine bar but that dinner mean lack luster or boring. A strong wine line up is available for selecting from the board inside with help from their knowledgeable staff, if needed. Wine pours, or bottles, are served up alongside changing plates of bites that are great for snacking or sharing. This is the perfect spot to sit and share wine, food, and a good time with your friends or family and maybe relive some of Blotto's good ol' times. Like what you drank? They offer a well curated selection of bottles for retail, mostly from Europe. This neighborhood bar hits the spot.

Yelp
It was a decent experience but didn't live up to the hype of the article I read about it. Food, service, and venue all fine for an average meal but no wow factor at all. Not a big fan of restaurants that dont list a phone number on their web site in case you need to reach them. Also not a big fan of restaurants that need tou to take a key to access a shared building bathroom. Pizza dine but underwhelming. Their oven was a big let down as it looks like a giant sheet metal toaster and only seemed to operate at the 600ish degree range. Pizza crust was food but the pizza was over burnt for such a the pizza and very dried out. Ceaser salad tasted good but was a miniscule portion size. Odd didn't see any Pellegrino sparkling water on the beverage list. Went to two Bellingham area pizza restaurants on the same night. The other one outshine this place in every aspect.

Yelp
We celebrated my birthday at Starla's last night. Cozy place, casual, knowledgeable staff! Bellingham is not a "foodie" town, one heads to BC or Seattle for that. But, I have to say, the pizza was over-the-top amazing, probably the best I've ever had. And I highly recommend the hot honey for a topping! The wine was really great also. I just ordered the house red and was happy with that. The wine menu looked interesting - I'll explore more next time. I wish Starla's a great and long-running success. We'll be back.

Yelp
I read about the pizza in the Seattle Times and it lived up to the hype. One of the best in town.

Yelp
A cute new wine bar in downtown Bellingham. A perfect place to meet friends for a nice glass of wine and some small bites. The friendly, knowledgeable owners make for a delightful place.

Yelp
This is the second time I've been at the new Tavern called Starla's in Bellingham, Washington. The ambience is delightful and warm and the owners treat you like you're their next door neighbor. They helped me find a delicious natural red wine by the glass, and my friend had an icy mug of beer. There are several options of menu items to choose from. I got the bread and butter plate like I did last time, but this time I added the peanuts which are served with seasonings plus the olives that are not typical but absolutely flavorful! Everything on the item is delicious... I should know... Because last time I ordered each item to test it out and I loved it all!
