"The food and drink menus at Edina’s Starling mirror its namesake migratory bird’s jet-setting tendencies with flavors on the cocktail menu that draw inspiration from Central America, North Africa, Southeast Asia, and beyond. Though there are local and global wine and beer options, the cocktails and sake list are the stars of the show at Starling. The drinks riff on classics with a twist, like the Manhattan that features palm sugar and tingly Sichuan bitters or the Vietnamese coffee martini featuring sweetened condensed milk. The bar features a daily happy hour from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m." - Natalia Mendez

"Jester Concepts — the restaurant group behind P.S. Steak, Borough, and Parlour, among others — has made its suburban debut with Starling. Culinary director Wyatt Evans’s menu has a “cross-continental” bend: Minnesotan walleye is bathed in a rich green curry, fragrant with lemongrass; butter chicken comes served in taco form, on soft flour tortillas. Save room for ube tres leches cake." - Eater Staff

Good new addition to the 50th street corridor in West Edina. Kind of tucked away at the bottom of an apartment complex. The food was very good. The butter chicken tacos were great, and the yakisoba chicken. both a staff and patron favorite. It was excellent. The sweet potato and the special ropa vieja were good, but they would have been GREAT if they were seasoned properly. The purple yam trea leches was delicious. Lighter than some leches, but it worked for that cake! I would definitely go back, but I would have given a 5 star and for food if they had the right seasoning for the few dishes I noted. The Staff was GREAT. Very informative and laid out good food strategy and recommendations. This is a good place to do a few small plates to share then order family style to share the entrees. Best way to get a good sampling of the menu. Drinks were excellent. Flavorful and well balanced. The smokey paloma, the starling, and the harissa margarita were notable. Want to again and see in how it evolves

The interior is very Instagram-worthy. Everything is cohesive and has a modern aesthetic. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon, and there were many parking spaces and tables available. The food is decent compared to typical Western cuisine. The flavors are present, but nothing particularly stands out. The Ube cake was okay; it has a moist chiffon texture, but I prefer a buttercream frosting or icing instead of whipped cream. The food presentation is spot-on. The service was great. Our server was very attentive and polite. The food arrived promptly. We visited during happy hour, but we felt like we missed out on some of the happy hour deals. My husband even asked the server to double-check, and she seemed confused as well. She made some corrections, but we still felt like something wasn’t right. We ended up paying $77, including the tip, for a chicken burger, fries, Ube leche cake, hummus, Coke, and a non-alcoholic Paloma.

Nice place, food was not bad. As in, it's got flavor and all, but it's also lacking real flavor. The menu has variety but no focus on the depth of flavor from the country it comes from.

Delicious food, good service and breathtaking atmosphere. Today for lunch on a whim we decided to stop into Starling. We were seated quickly and given menus. My first impression was awe because of the tremendous amount of greenery here. We ordered the hummus, which was so delicious we asked for extra pita bread to finish. It was warm and the flavors were well balanced. Next, I got the Poke bowl which was pretty delicious too. Decent amount of salmon and the jasmine rice was perfectly cooked. Last but not least the kumquat sour was strong and tart, the lemonade was yummy and the ice was engraved with the business logo, super fancy. Molly was great, there was a large free spacious parking lot out front and the wait was not too long!

Google
Beautiful spot with excellent service! The food was flavorful and fresh although not necessarily my favorite (maybe we ordered the wrong thing) and that’s the into reason I gave it a 4. Drinks were yummy and strong. My friend and I went to the restaurant for happy hour and quickly got a table. There is a very welcoming ambience there in a beautifully decorated venue. Loved the bird music playing in the bathroom, just peaceful!! I ordered the fried chicken sandwich (which had flavors of Indian food, very unique, chicken was very thick). I also ordered the tropical daiquiri and can’t remember what my friend ordered. Would recommend and would like to come back during another time to try more of the menu.

Google
Cute ambiance. 💖 Asked for a liqueur, staff returned to tell us they were out of stock, though didn't offer any alternatives. Drinks served to the table w/o any detail. Happy to spend $100 on 4 tacos and 2 cocktails when the service matches the prices. 💕

Google
We made a reservation for a large group and they accommodated really well. Food and drink was great. Everyone complimented the meal. Service was excellent and if you're in the area you should check them out.

Google
The poke bowl was visually appealing but mediocre in taste. The ingredients were fresh, but each ingredient was separate, so it was hard to eat. Felt too deconstructed and would have layered it. The only flavor was the mayo-like sauce between the salmon and rice. Beyond the sauce, the poke bowl lacked a lot and plain. The dish needs to be revamped. On the other hand, the steam pork buns were executed nicely. Nicely steamed bun with a good piece of pork belly, the freshness of veggies, and the hoisin sauce is like Japanese BBQ. I would order those again, and there are 3 of them.

Yelp
I came here for a date night before a comedy show and YUM! Having been my first time visiting, I didn't want to risk not being able to get in so I made a reservation for 5:30 pm. The restaurant was relatively empty but by the time we left, traffic was picking up. We ordered the Balinese fried rice and the chicken yakisoba. Both were delicious! Flavorful sauces and the chicken thighs had a delicious curry flavor that we were pleasantly surprised by. Overall, the service was great, the atmosphere was romantic and trendy, and we look forward to visiting again!

Yelp
Parking here is interesting. The lot was full. We ended up parking by the police station and walking a bit. The lot isn't big, so I expect it's a regular occurrence. They are named after the bird & draw inspiration from its global migratory nature. The cross-continental menu features dishes influenced by the Americas, Africa, Europe, and Southeast Asia. The drinks match the cuisine. I also had one of the best mocktails I've ever had! The Ted Starling! 10/10 This menu is fun to grab some items and share. What we tried: Vietnamese Coffee Martini - vodka, espresso, and sweetened condensed milk Red Starling (N/A) NA spirit, ube, cranberry, lime Hummus - chili crisp, Za'atar, sesame, crispy garlic paired with flatbread. of the menu. Very good! I loved this French Fries -curry salt w/ sambal aioli. I'd pass but the sauce was solid. Wok Fried Green Beans - garlic, soy, ginger OBSESSED this was my fav! Steamed Pork Buns - hoisin, pickled cucumber, daikon, carrots & herbs - these were a bit overcooked and chewy. Curry Cauliflower - Golden raisin, almond, cilantro. Yum I love this dish Chicken Yakisoba - wok friend noodles, chicken thighs, cobbage, carrots, scallions, crispy garlic, bonito and Japanese mayo. Loved this one: so flavorful. Tacos - Butter Chicken / Skrit Steak/ Braised Port Foster Manhattan - scotch, banana liquer, sweet vermouth, and bitters N/A Shiso Mojito - shiso, lime, soda Ube Tres Leches Cake - condensed milk, purple yam, whipped topping. So soft and tasty. Ice Cream Sandwich - churro, vanilla bean ice cream, cinnamon. I wish the churro was softer but sooo good.

Yelp
I really wanted to love Starling because the ambiance is exactly what I look for but unfortunately they did not hit the mark. The pancakes tasted burnt and were dry, served with very little syrup. The best part of the breakfast tacos was the crema and salsa verde giving them a great flavor but the tacos were served cold. There is parking in front of the restaurant but it is very limited, especially when there is fresh snow, parking gets very tight.

Yelp
I had never heard of this place, was in the area and decided to try it out. Have their own parking lot, so easy parking. Beautiful restaurant on the inside, I really liked the seating options. Can't really explain what I mean, but you'd know if you saw it lol. Got seated and served immediately. The menu was full of interesting flavors and my waiter did his best to help me with recommendations. Tried a few items, everything came out fast and very tasty. They had a few flavors of the wings, I got the dry rub and decided to get the sauce in the side because I couldn't decide. I will say the wings are much better with the sauce, and now that I've tried them both, I will get them cooked in it. Overall great experience and would definitely go back to try other items.

Emilee K.

Yelp
We came here for a double date night with our friends. The space is gorgeous with big tall plants all around - almost felt like we were on a vacation! -The espresso martini was our favorite out of all the cocktails we tried. -We split the wings and fries as an appetizer. Loved the dry rub, so crispy! The fry sauce was delicious as well. -The burger honestly competes with the best of them. My husband claims he thinks it's better than Parlour's burger and I agree! -Chicken yakisoba was my favorite entree. So much flavor! It's huge and filling and easy to share. -Poke bowl was super fresh and perfect if you want a lighter feeling entree that still fills the belly. Anything with jasmine rice and yum yum sauce is worth trying. Parking is difficult but there's valet :)

Amanda N.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and Starling was a fun spot to try. We ordered the fried green beans, mushroom yakisoba, starling wings with fish sauce caramel, fried chicken sandwich, and hamachi crudo. Also got the red starling and the non-alcoholic Paloma drinks. Overall food was good and dishes were shareable. Wished that the table was a little bigger to fit the dishes better on the table. Service was also good and food came out pretty quickly. There is a parking lot but not a lot of space. They do have valet as an option.

Yelp
We ended up at this place after receiving a gift card as a gift! The service was pretty good, some delays inbetween seeing our server and no check-ins on how things were + no refill on the waters. Not a big deal but for paying slightly premium prices I had a little higher expectations. The space is beautiful and decorated well with lots of nature elements brought in. The parking situation is a bit limited so I would plan ahead on busy nights. We were able to be seated immediately and we tried a few of their different appetizers. We thought all of them were pretty average with the Korean pancake being very over salted in our opinion. The cocktails were beautiful though and the restaurant has a very nice vibe to it. We would try this place again and order different things!

Yelp
we stopped by Starling for New Year's Eve lunch. It was not planned and we are happened to be in the area and found this restaurant. Their lunch menu is full of interesting dishes and lots of small bites - mostly Japanese influenced (?) We ordered okonomiyaki, steak tacos and chicken yakisoba. Being obsessed with Okonomiyaki - we have tried many authentic ones and I want to say this one feels much more chewy than the ones I had before. I am more used to the airy fluffy ones. This one feels dense. The yakisoba is a bit too saucy in my liking, but the flavor is nice. We like the steak tacos. The server Amanda was very friendly and fun. She uses the fanciest vocabularies. Haha. We enjoyed our time there.

Nicole C.

Yelp
Cute place- loved the decor and we were seated in one of the fun circle booths. Others have mentioned parking and not much of it. No issues when we arrived finding a spot (11:45 on a Sunday) but no open spots when we left. The 3 stars is highly impacted by the complete lack of feeling welcomed or valued. Person who greeted us (if a gruff "do you have a reservation" is a greeting) barely acknowledged us and was clearly not feeling well. Our actual waiter was fine. Just set the experience off on a negative note. We both had the breakfast burger and it was really tasty and cooked to order. WAY too much mayo or whatever the sauce was (which wasn't listed in the description) making it a very messy burger to eat. The caramelized onions were amazing and the homemade pickles were delicious! Would be interested to try again (non brunch menu) and see if experience is any better.

Stacy A.

Yelp
Beautiful vibe and ambience; I really enjoyed the round booths and the green color story. The bathroom was beautifully decorated with bird wallpaper and had bird chirping playing over a speaker. One thing that I think is missing is a sort of identity. Starling birds live all over the world but I think I assumed it was an American-cuisine when I looked this place up. Studying the menu, it has a lot of Asian flavors from Bali, Philippines and India. I can't say that anything on the menu really jumped out at me but what we got was good. My friend and I split the pork buns and the Balinese fried rice, which had great flavor. The tres leches cake was good but I don't think the Ube added any flavor. The drinks were not good.. I got the Purple starling and my friend got the red starling (same drink just no alcohol). There was an overly sweet weird taste, might be the one syrup, and it wasn't even purple!

Michaela S.

Yelp
Great experience and cute vibes, but nothing super special. I came here after hearing about the ube tres leches. Heard the had a happy hour so I had to come for good deals. 5 sticky wings for $9 is a great price, and the wings were delicious. I would highly recommend as they came out piping hot and crispy with a delicious sauce. We also snacked in fries which were just fries. It came with a curry salt and a spicy aioli but wasn't anything special. Still a decent deal for happy hour. Drinks were $2 off for happy hour which made my Vietnamese Coffee Martini only $13. It was nice and sweet, and was a nice touch on the drink. The ube tres leches was a little bit of a let down. The ube flavor was extremely light and if my eyes were closed, I wouldn't know it was Ube flavored. The cake itself was a little dense in my opinion. I honestly wouldn't recommend it if you're an actual ube fan. Overall the vibes were great and the restaurant is super cute. Food came out quickly and our server was lovely. The drinks are pretty and the happy hour deals were great. It was worth a try but I don't think I'd return.

Yelp
Sterling is a true gem with its aesthetically pleasing ambiance that extends from the exterior to the bar and restaurant even to its bathrooms. The food was nothing short of amazing--every dish we tried was a hit. The steak was perfectly tender, the green curry packed a punch of rich, aromatic flavors, and the chicken yakisoba was simply delicious. Don't skip dessert; it's the perfect sweet ending to a memorable meal. The only reason I'm giving a 4 instead of a 5 is due to the service. While the staff was friendly, we did experience some delays. After our initial check-in, our server didn't return, leaving us unable to order another round of drinks. I also finished my meal without a water refill. Despite this, I'd happily return for the fantastic food and to check out their highly recommended happy hour specials!

Anna T.

Yelp
Starling was perfect for our girls get together! We made reservations ahead of time and were sat right away in a beautiful booth. The ambience is gorgeous with all the greenery and mirrors! It was very warm and inviting. The food and drinks were fantastic. There's a parking lot which was really nice. We'll definitely be back!

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Cute spot with good food! Lots of seating, but minimal parking spots. I recall seeing there are nearby lots that can be used, but double check. Got the a mocktail, Red Starling, which was very tasty. My initial thought was it had a slight nutty taste, but perhaps that's just the Ube I was picking up on. Nevertheless great drink. The Chicken Yakisoba (noodles) were fine. I picked up on something acidic, like lime, which I could have done without. Otherwise good flavor. Yes I would return (and hopefully have an easier time finding if next time).

Yelp
A friend and I checked out Starling a week ago and had some mixed feelings. On the one hand, their Steamed Pork Buns are DELICIOUS. If I'd just ordered those, this would be a 5 star review. On the other hand, we didn't love any of the other dishes we ordered. The butter chicken tacos were particularly underwhelming. It's truly just a tortilla and butter chicken. Maybe it was obvious in the name but we weren't that impressed with it. Turns out naan was the better choice to begin with! The pork belly tacos were much better. I was super excited to try the Ube Tres Leches, but it was just alright -- the Purple Starling cocktail is a better alternative for ube lovers in my opinion. The adobo pork was dry, didn't have anywhere near enough sauce and really didn't taste like adobo. I will say we appreciated when a server (maybe the manager?) stopped by with more sauce, which did help the dish a bit. The interior was gorgeous and the service was great. There's a decent amount of parking outside and the restaurant is located on the main floor of what I believe is an apartment building.

Rachael S.

Yelp
Situated underneath a luxury apartment complex in Edina, Starling represents an easy neighborhood joint that could be considered for date night as much as weekend brunch or casual happy hour. The menu is self proclaimed "globally inspired" and after one browse through the dishes, you can tell the time, effort, and energy that went into its curation. The bar is beautiful, with comfortable seating and a lovely backdrop with mirrored arches. There are plenty of windows offering ample natural light, and with numerous plants and an open floor concept, it's easy to reject the idea that you are sitting on the ground floor of an apartment building. As for the food, I was unfortunately quite mixed. - Curry Cauliflower: skip, especially for $16. Very small portion and I did not taste a hint of curry. The additions of raisins and almonds felt like an afterthought and there wasn't a discernible sauce to me. For only two dollars less than the burger and wings, very disappointing. - Burger: solid, but so so many better options (think GusGus, Parlour, Petite Leon, StepChld). If you are not into the smash patty craze, it may earn a few extra points in your book. But the bun was slightly dry and the onions and mayo did not come through to add much needed flavor. Also, not a big fan of American cheese. I'm being overly critical, it's a fine burger, but hard to compete with some of the better spots in Mpls/St. P. - Sticky Wings: 10/10, first of all, you get ten wings, and even though the drums/flats are on the smaller end, they are so rich and tasty that splitting them with your dining mates will leave you somewhat full. Sometimes wet wings get a little soggy, and although the fish sauce caramel generously coats each wing, their crispiness persists. The fried garlic, cilantro, and shallot combination pairs well with the umami flavor bursting from the fish sauce. A welcome "globally" inspired take on a typically more basic dish. Overall, very reasonably priced, save the silly little cauliflower dish, and their cocktails seem creative, although I opted for red wine on both visits. Hopefully the residents living above can spread the word, as it's somewhat hidden off a roundabout. I think we just missed on a few dishes, otherwise closer to 4.5/5.

Yelp
What a beautiful spot! So glad we finally stopped in after driving by a hundred times (on highway 100). The parking was easy at 2pm on a Saturday and we were pleasantly surprised to be able to sit anywhere at the bar and get in on Happy Hour (2-5PM). Amanda was our fantastic bartender that took great care of us. We ordered a Bloody Mary, Aviation Cocktail, Popcorn, Curry Cauliflower and the Burger. We were happy with the flavors of everything! Our favorite was the unique cauliflower -- presentation was beautiful as well. The searing options here are sooo gorgeous and cozy. I really liked the design of the bar area and how naturally bright the space was even on a cold rainy day. The ambiance is 10/10 in my book. Hope to be back soon!!

Ingi E.

Yelp
I tried Starling for a weekday lunch + happy hour with friends and loved everything about it! The ambiance and decor are gorgeous, it has a parking lot, and our server was awesome. We got a coffee and some dishes to share. - kale salad - wok fried green beans - sweet potato and chickpea curry - fried chicken sandwich - ube tres leches - coconut pudding (with the yummiest mango sauce) Everything was exactly as expected, if not better. Our choices were recommended by our server and they didn't disappoint!

Amy F.

Yelp
Cute atmosphere. Stopped in for a much needed date night. The menu is eclectic and made it hard to determine what to eat because couldn't tell what they did well. We both enjoyed the chicken yakisoba good flavor, large quantity 4/5. The fries were pretty basic lacked salt and seasoning and the steak was just okay 3/5. The tres leeches had a nice twist 3/5. This was a one and done place for my husband and I. Overalls would rate it 3.5/5

Mykenna C.

Yelp
I loved the space itself. It was giving a cross between earthy and country club vibes. The server was good and continued to check on us. We even asked to move tables as the sun was in our eyes and they were able to accommodate us. The food was good but it was nothing special! Drinks were also yummy!

Emily H.

Yelp
The vibes at starling are high! The space is immaculate and decorated to perfection! Love that there is a nice dinner spot in this corner of Edina. The only downside is there is not much parking but they do have valet. Drinks menu was fantastic, I loved their wine list and enjoyed a few glasses. What most people come for are the cocktails, those are fantastic as well, we got their take on the French 75 and mix with a lychee martini and it was amazing. Honestly would come back just for that! Food selection was good, they have something for everyone. We started with the tacos and those were really good! we got the skirt steak and it was cooked to perfection and the sauces on it were top notch! We also got the burger with a side of fries. I went with a big burger fan and he said it was pretty good but we did take home half. We loved their fries and the dipping sauce with them probs one of our favorite things we ate. I got the green walleye curry and I loved the sauce and the rice but the walleye was just too fishy for me, it was pretty undercooked as well which was a bummer. I did dip my fries in the curry sauce which was amazing, maybe should even make that an option with the fries. We had the best server! He ordered everything to come out just right and went through the drink lists with us and menu effectively! Would come back here again to get those fries and drinks! Would happily try other menu items as well!

Nalani T.

Yelp
The wings were the highlight of my happy hour experience. I know other reviews said the wings were pretty salty but I personally think that's just how it goes with fish sauce and Asian food so I thought it was the perfect amount of salty flavor. Also got the fries and they weren't very flavorful despite the curry salt and sambal aoli. I would skip these next time. The drink was good, I like sweet drinks so this is good for people who don't like a super strong alcohol taste. The ube tres leche cake was more dense than I was expecting and I felt that the ube flavor wasn't quite there. Overall, I think the place has great decor and a good vibe but I'm not sure I'd come here again.

Yande M.

Yelp
Service & Ambiance: I'm still trying to figure out what the overall theme of this restaurant is. The menu was diverse, the decor and overall vibe was instagram-worthy, and the bathrooms were covered in bird wallpaper with the sound of bird's chirping coming from every direction. Definitely unique. Food: Tacos: (1) Butter Chicken Taco & (1) Skirt Steak Taco. I'm so glad they let me mix and match because I had to try both! The butter chicken taco was delicious and had every ounce of flavor I needed! I haven't seen butter chicken tacos on a menu before but Starling did it right! The skirt steak taco was okay. I would've rather had two butter chicken tacos, but for people that like a nice kick, it's a great choice!

Yelp
I received a recommendation on Yelp about this new establishment and decided to visit for both lunch and dinner in two different occasions. Overall I think this is a very solid place that has something for pretty much everyone. My favorite item was the Balinese fried rice, which had a fair amount of cucumber and tomato on the side, along with shrimp paste and shallot in the fried rice with varying spice levels. I highly enjoyed consuming each grain and realized that the dish itself could even satisfy two people's hunger. Absolutely great. I also enjoyed the sticky wings which had a certain level of saltiness due to the fish sauce caramel and crispy garlic. I have never had wings like that and thoroughly enjoyed the taste and the size. The grilled sourdough had an innovative idea with anchovies on top of romenesco, almonds, manchego cheese, and of course, the sourdough bread. However, the anchovies, due to the already extremely salty taste, still ended up overpowering, and as a result didn't manage to offer an enjoyable experience. In addition, the Filipino adobo pork had some really tender braised pork shoulder, but had way too much cane vinegar that resulted in the rice extremely salty, to the point that I wasn't able to even eat it. I think maybe having little vinegar in the bowl, or simply having the vinegar in a small bowl on the side would be better for the dish. I have ordered two desserts, and both are solid choices! The ube tres leches cake had the ube taste and had the wetness of a tres leches, containing condensed milk that heightened the sweetness. The chocolate ganache is what one can imagine from a chocolate fudge, except for the fact that it was Mexican chocolate which resulted in a bit of a stimulating taste, if you have had Mexican chocolate before. Overall, a solid place that I would recommend those around the Edina area to visit. They also had good service and atmosphere which actually make this location a fitting place for a date or a friend hangout.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance (5/5)! As I walked in the door, I was blown away by the gorgeous art deco aesthetics featuring both natural and modern vibes. It just opened 6 weeks ago, so the place is spotlessly clean. Service was very friendly. Food was pretty good, I would love to come back to try more items from their menu. However, I do believe we're paying more for the ambiance than the food. Here's what we tried: Furikake Popcorn (2/5) very simple, I wouldn't order again unless I was starving upon arrival. Mediterranean Salad (3/5) citrus vinaigrette was nice, I wished for more feta. Tacos (4/5). Butter chicken taco was not spicy despite the chili pictured on the menu. Delicious but a bit messy from extra liquid. Skirt Steak taco was nicely grilled steak slices with a little spice (maybe in the guac). Pork belly taco had a flavorful pork belly but I was unsure if I liked the pate. Restaurant Week also included a menu with Chocolate Ganache dessert (2/5). I would rather have another taco instead.

Yelp
This restaurant recently opened up in the Edina area and I had to try it while I was in town. The restaurant is so nicely decorated and made you believe you are not in Minnesota. It almost reminds me of a plush lounge in a tropical country. The food was fantastic! I tried the roasted cauliflower (it is slightly spicy even though it's not noted on the menu), the steak taco, the butter chicken taco and the ube tres leches cake. The flavors were all superb and the meats were tender. I only had one small suggestion about the whipped topping on the ube and the wait staff and kitchen staff were very open to feedback and suggestions which was very refreshing. The staff in the restaurant are very friendly and welcoming and have very good recommendations on the food. I would not hesitate to come back here for another meal!

Yelp
Stopped in for Starling for a quick brunch. Such a cute interior and fun menu. We started with an espresso martini and Paloma. The Paloma was perfect for summer and the espresso martini was creamy. We split the bao and avocado toast. Bao was the perfect shareable app and the veggies made it so fresh. The avocado toast had an amazing spicy sauce underneath that we were obsessed with. Perfect combo to the avocado and eggs. Service was great and our waiter helped us pick his favorites. We got our food pretty quickly and would overall come here again!

Kelly M.

Yelp
Wow. The decor, the vibes, the music, everything was on point. Our server was so patient and helpful. We had a group of 5 and ordered a lot of items. The food was delicious! The sticky wings may have been my fave. Everyone at the table loved the butter chicken tacos, pork bun, I mean everything was really great. It's hard to highlight a couple items. The Vietnamese espresso martini was delicious as was the ube cosmo. Highly recommend this place. Note: parking is tough AND tight. Plan for time to find parking as their lot is pretty small.

Yelp
We checked out this cool new resturant on a Saturday brunch. It's situated right off highway 100 under a newer apartment complex. There were plenty of parking in a small lot out front of the entrance. It is so dang cute inside! Super boho mid-centry vibes with the green velvet seating and skylight windows. The menu is a little 'exotic' I'd say. The dinner menu was what drew me in. I didn't realize they have a brunch menu and was very disappointed when I found out they weren't serving the dinner menu. They don't have sticky wings as a lunch option. So heads up guys! They don't serve that dinner menu until twoish. They still have an amazing cocktail menu though. The bloody was a little too thick for me but tasted okay. The Mexican coffee was super good and had a surprisingly sweet taste to it. My partner enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich. The fries were pretty good but the sambal aioli was very spicy for me. That being said, I don't have a great spice tolerance. The fries were a side order but it was more than plenty for two people. I'd say too much for one person. I enjoyed the Balinese fried rice but it really lacked in flavor. The shrimp paste smelled amazing but it was minimal in flavoring. I wanted a little more of the crispy shallot to bring some of the flavors out. Service was normal without issues. Prices seem a little on the high side for the dishes. I would like to come here for the dinner menu and try those stick wings.

Yelp
I reeeaaallyy was super hopeful for this place and I'd give it a 3 1/2 if i could... Let's start with the Yay!! And work it out from there... Inside this place is super cute! Very pretty and the menu has options which I always like too! Our Non Alcoholic Ube Cosmo was good, was kinda a weird start as we requested NA but had two alcoholic drinks show up... lucky for me i was the one to taste test and catch vs my girlfriend. But that was worrying for her... I ordered the fries and the butter chicken tacos and my girl date ordered the hamachi crudo. What we didn't know is that everything comes out a different times so i had gotten my food and then we had to wait for hers... because i wasn't prepared to eat before her nor would i... And for the food.. for the price of two tacos to have almost nothing in them for chicken a bummer moment. Frys were good, be prepared the sauce it comes with is a lil spicy! Just be ready for that! I did ask girly about hers, she liked it had good flavor but it would not be something she would get again. Ube Tres Leche was delicious!! Not crazy sweet like others ive tried at past locations. And another not so super cute part... Parking is kinda a pain point for this location, not a huge lot so be prepared for that if/when you do attempt!

Yelp
Met for a business lunch here. It's kind of tucked away off the road and easy to overlook. So I was delighted when I walked into a really nice classy restaurant. As it was business, no alcohol, but we had a really nice lunch. My friend got the yakisoba and really liked it. I got the chicken tacos, which were suprisingly flavorful and delicious. There were these lovely pickled red onions on top that I could have eaten by the gallon. I did wish the tacos came with SOMETHING... a little salad, fries, something. It's just two tacos on a plate. But the two tacos were really good and a tasty lunch. Service was friendly and efficient.

Yelp
This is going to be the next hotspot! Cool vibe, gorgeous interior, thoughtful seating, and great food! It has it all. For starters the Furikake Popcorn is a fun and tasty change of pace. The curry cauliflower is so delicious! It may be on the spicy side for those with a more delicate palate. For me, it was perfect. We also had the yakisoba, cheeseburger, fries, and Al Carbon tacos. Everything was great! However, it gets better. The desserts are absolutely beautiful perfection. The Ube Tres Leches is yummy. I had to put the camera flashlight on to see how lovely and purple it was. The chocolate ganache tart was so very good with a nice smooth chocolate and a perfect graham crust. Definitely save room for desert. It's worth it. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Ambiance : loving the vibe with lots of greenery and bamboo makes you feel like you're on a tropical vacation. Had the hotel restaurant vibe to it. Service: was attentive and nice the food came out quick. Food: from least favorite to what I would definitely order again. Hamachi crudo: 5 out of 10, was too fishy for me. Sticky wings: 6 out of 10, the crunchy texture was good but way too salty. Over did it with the fish sauce. Japanese noodles: 6 of 10, was expecting sweet , salty, savory umami flavor but it was very sour. Pork belly bao buns:7 out of 10 Pork belly tacos: 7 out 10 Fish curry: 8 out of 10, good flavor very mild from what i'm used to so some chilli oil would be good to add on. Hummus: 8-10, good flavors would definitely order again. Ube tres leches: our table's favorite, not too sweet. Would definitely order again. The drinks were good and strong, my favorite would be the starling drinks which had a hint of ube aftertaste to it. Lovely.

Yelp
The wait staff was very kind. The drinks and food were delish. I had a margarita which was rimmed in black salt and had a dried orange in it. My friend had a Paloma cocktail which she loved. I had the steak tacos comes with two. I found them flavorful and yummy served on corn tortillas. My friend had the boa buns came with three in the order. She loved them and had to take one home. They have a pretty bar that has happy hour starting at 2 which includes $2 off select wine and beer and a $10 cocktail. The restaurant is very tasteful. I felt like each table was private.

Yelp
1) chicken sandwich - great flavor, very spicy - awkward in the presentation and that everything falls out as you're eating it 2) Fries - amazing!!!! 3) Mediterranean salad - pretty boring - simple large lettuce leaves with some toppings - would not recommend

Yelp
Really cute dining area and delicious unique brunch options. My husband had the burger and I had the cilbir. I loved the cilbir and would come back for this dish alone. He didn't let me try his burger so it must have been good! Staff was very friendly and even offered to take a family photo for us.

Yelp
Wow, what a beautiful space! The booths are designed in such a great way for a good conversation over a cocktail. Cozy but not too cozy! Would be such a great spot for a glass of wine with friends. The dish I would 100% come back for was the green curry walleye. Great spice level and flavor, lots of finely shredded cabbage to balance out the flavor punch, and then fried walleye that managed to stay crispy in a coconut curry sauce. Some sort of sorcery. We also enjoyed the steamed bun starter. The Spicy Paloma cocktail was super refreshing. The chicken yakisoba was a little salty to my palate, but we had to have it customized for a food allergy and I think what we asked them to leave out would have pulled it together, so that's on us.

Yelp
Fourth visit since this new, classy restaurant came to Edina! Obviously my guests and I love their global menu. Servers are well prepared to explain the unique options and give guidance. Menu has a Southeast Asian and South African influence. Plan on a different choice each time I go. So far so good.

Yelp
New mix fusion restaurant in Edina. Right off highway 100, used to be a Perkins restaurant. There's limited parking but down the road should be more street parking. Service was great, our server knew of every dish and gave us recommendations. They are 90s music hip hop, I was surprised my favorite songs were playing. I can see myself coming back to chill and drink.

Yelp
I love the decor and everything about this place. Lots of sunlight. We came here for lunch and it was not busy. We had pork bun and poke. Both were delicious. We had an unalcoholic drink and a glass of wine. Service was great! Will definitely come back.

Yelp
I can be won over by a restaurant within my first few steps into the dining room. Starling completely won me over. I place a high value on decor, ambience, lighting, and overall vibe. Starling easily delivers a five Star chill community based environment. Awesome colors and textures create a an exceptional dining experience. When you match that level of ambience with excellent friendly casual yet professional service you have a winner. Our server was knowledgeable, timely, and just such a sweet person. As good as the ambience and service are the Super Power of Starling is the menu. What a pleasant surprise of a mix of unique but recognizable apps and entrees. This is not your same old same old menu. Before you get nervous one of our party ordered a cheeseburger we split for an app then ordered the same thing as his entree because he didn't want to share it. The rest of us enjoyed ordering apps and entrees that we shared and absolutely loved. I highly recommend Starling!!

Yelp
I loved that a lot of their menu is Asian-inspired and I came here just for the Vietnamese coffee martini. Heads - up it is a nitro style martini so be prepared for that! The atmosphere is stunning with the plants and is brand new. Parking is valet or finding nearby street parking. The service was good as our server was so knowledgeable and gave us awesome recommendations. I'd get the bao buns and the sticky wings every time!

Yelp
I think the intention of the restaurant is good. The food was average. The highlight was the hummus appetizer. The poke bowl had salmon that wasn't sushi grade. In other words, it was crunchy. The tacos had no additional ingredients. The music was too loud and parking was very difficult. It's a cute space. Service was excellent and the server really knew the menu items. We did feel a bit hurried to leave in a subtle way. Be careful on the tip. They use a 5% wellness and tax on the total amount to tip so you are tipping on their wellness fee.

Yelp
Came into the Starling and left with positive vibes... Great new space and dinning spot in the Edina area conveniently off Hwy 100th and 50th/Vernon Avenue. Good customer service by Staff as they are to opening this week. Will be back to enjoy!

Yelp
This new restaurant is a 10 in my eyes!! From the moment that you enter this gorgeous restaurant you are just in awe with each and every detail of the space. Not only is the bar adorable, the restrooms are just as beautiful. The amount of detail is stellar thru out the restaurant. The plates and glassware are perfect!!! The food and presentation are just as topnotch as the decor. The colors of the food are vibrant and so delicious.. We had a lot of different dishes to share and 2 desserts to finish with. We had Oscar as our server and he was so friendly and his knowledge and suggestions were right on. When we were leaving we spoke to Phyllis the Manager & she was so nice. All in all we will be back with friends and family. This is truly a wonderful new place!!

Yelp
Enjoyed Brunch at this new Edina spot! Friendly and welcoming staff! Art Deco style decor! Beautiful glass enclosed veranda. Restaurant aesthetic is absolutely beautiful! Baby gem lettuce salad with grilled salmon was a winner! Balinese fried rice not so much was dry and had no accompanying sauce or dimension as was described on the menu. Reminded me of Thai Fried Rice but much drier and not juicy like that aforementioned Thai style. French Toast was also a bummer as it tasted like they used the same spatula they grilled my salmon with to pick up the French Toast. Basic eggs any style (chose scrambled) and sausage were magnificent! Mimosa was meh and Bloody Mary was too heavy on the Worcestershire. Wanted to love it as a friend lives within walking distance! However, other dishes I saw coming out for other tables looked fabulous! Will give them another try again soon and order the Avocado Toast, Eggs Benedict and Hummus which I heard were amazing! Prices are somewhat high!

Yelp
This place is interesting. It is a fusion of menu items from all over - stuff you don't normally see together in the same place. That means variety, but it also felt slightly confusing. But to be clear, that was just my personal feeling, not a critique of the food itself! Speaking of the food, it was delicious! I had the Balinese fried rice, and it was really good. One of my friends had a burger (standard), and the other had yakisoba, both of which were also tasty. This is a new place, and I understand startup costs are high, but I didn't feel the value for the cost matched up - prices were a bit high. The atmosphere was beautiful! It was lush, green, airy, fresh, and had a lovely golden warmth about it. The service was fantastic. Our server, Johnny, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. He took excellent care of us. One thing I'd like to see changed is how The Starling serves their dishes. I prefer the customary approach of having all the dishes served simultaneously, rather than one plate served as it is prepared from the kitchen. Unfortunately, the Starling follows the style of bringing each person's dish as it's ready. I'm not a fan; I believe everyone should be served together as a matter of etiquette. I don't like eating while others are still hungrily waiting for their food--it's so tacky! We will give it another shot and try another dish or two. I hope they adjust how they serve their dishes. Wishing them good luck moving forward!
