Solid lunch option in a convenient, bustling location (the Westgate strip/area). I stopped in here in an attempt to treat myself with a yummy lunch to fuel up for a couple hours of focused work at the nearby AADL Westgate branch.
Walked into Star's Cafe and ordered for dine in - the Chicken Tawook sandwich combo meal, which comes with hummus and tabbouleh. Got a number, sat down at one of many small tables inside (pretty no frills and casual), and waited while my meal was prepared and brought to me (about ~10min later).
The meal was good! Very generous portion for one, and tasty. The chicken in the sandwich (wrap) was flavorful and juicy, with crisp veg and a nice pickle crunch. The garlic sauce was pretty mild (I do usually like a good pungent garlic sauce, even if others around me don't appreciate it). The hummus was decent, with the tahini flavor forward. Tabbouleh was ok, not the best in Ann Arbor. But it was all best combined (ie scooping some hummus and tabbouleh onto the wrap with each bite). The meal came with an extra baggy of pita, which I didn't think was needed. Good value for the price and amount of food.
One thing - it's January and it was really cold inside the cafe. I needed to keep my heavy winter coat on, fully zipped up, to be comfortable dining in. Looking around and it wasn't just me; most everyone else there were also wearing their winter coats.
