Farmers Market in Raleigh (2025)
State Farmers Market

Brett Kho

Google
I am blessed to be located so near the state's largest farmers market! I come here at least once a week to say hi and check out the scene. there are tons of not only fresh produce but also house plants, decorations, small restaurants, bakeries, the list goes on. everyone behind the counters is very friendly. as others have said, the prices can be quite ridiculous, with tomatoes sometimes $4/ pound and beef $12/ a pound, but you can also get good deals, especially if you bargain and haggle a bit! as of October, apples and sweet potatoes are quite cheap, right at about $1 / pound

I was able to pick up some really unique items here. The atmosphere is really fun and the amount of produce is amazing. I had never heard of pop snacks nor tried them but they looked really unique and they ended up being such a fun little treat! When I bought them they even gave us a fresh sample from their pop machine.

After living here for 15 years, this is the first time I've been to the State Farmers Market. I loved it!! Lots of fresh, local fruits and vegetables. There were plants, honey , flowers, lots of local vendors and enjoyed it a lot! If you are all for supporting local businesses, this is a must-go! Vendors even had samples and everyone was friendly. I bought some dips, salsa, pies, and donuts. I will definitely be going back here. They are open 7 days a week, year round. A true gem!!!

Google
Absolutely huge and great selection of local producers!! Alot of varieties of vegetables, fruits or meats. We had a great time walking, looking around and browsing through all the locally grown ingredients. However, the price is a little bit pricey, I know that we need to support all local growers. But will definitely come back to produces.

Google
Very atmospheric place. Wonderful selection of products from local farmers. I really love European markets, where farmers bring fresh fruits and vegetables. Finally in the United States I found such a place. How wonderful the peaches smell! how your eyes run from the colorful counters, piled high with amazingly beautiful and magnificently spicy peppers. Peaches, grapes, tomatoes, muscadines, braids woven from garlic, eggplants, roses! How the aromas of all these products intertwine and create an amazing, unique flavor! wonderful market!

Google
this farmers market had the freshest vegetables straight out the ground. I love zucchini and squash mix with onions, and they were delicious. Not only do they have fresh fruit and vegetables, they have beautiful bouquets of flowers for a reasonable price. they have plenty of parking and easy to reach.

Google
I loved this place when we first moved here from California, but then quickly realized how expensive the prices are for produce. You definitely learn which vendors to go to consistently and which to avoid. Love the cinnamon buns and citrus aid from the one market bakery. We stopped there every time for a loaf of bread and a cinnamon roll or jalapeño cheddar roll. It’s a fun place to go during the week, but the weekends are way too busy and chaotic. The flower vendors are extremely expensive. Love the restaurants here too. And the pepper lady!!!

Google
We absolutely love the State Farmers Market! It’s one of our favorite places to visit year-round. The variety is incredible—whether you’re looking for fresh produce, locally raised meats, homemade baked goods, beautiful plants, or seasonal flowers, there’s always something to discover. The vendors are friendly and passionate about what they do, and there’s always a fun new find every time we go. It’s also super convenient that most stands accept card, cash, or tap—whatever works best for you! If you haven’t stopped by yet, you’re truly missing out. Can’t recommend it enough!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday morning about 9 with plenty of parking (we left around 10 and parking was still ok but a bit harder to find). Lots of gorgeous fresh produce and friendly stalls. We grabbed some baked goods from the German bakery and wandered around. There are more stalls than just the first main building - including some spots to grab different food. By the time we wanted to check out the restaurant, the line was out the door so we got some fresh fruit for our ride to go. Great spot with littles - my toddler loved a baked good and cookie for breakfast! Lots to see and try and it's a really beautiful space. Some accept credit card and EBT!

Yelp
I enjoyed perusing through the market. There are several vendors to purchase different veggies and produce from. I was excited to purchase fresh sweet corn and peaches. I also enjoyed learning about new fruit and vegetables that I've never seen before. I saw yellow and orange watermelon for the first time at this location. Check it out!

Yelp
this is a true farmers market. they have a great selection of local produce! had such a great time browsing through and seeing all the locally grown ingredients. there's no "hot and fresh" food stands, at least from what i saw, but they have lots of baked goods as well. will definitely come back.

Yelp
The State Farmers Market in Raleigh is super fun for the whole family and a great way to spend your weekend. I came with here with my husband and we left with pumpkins, local honey, baked goods and more. Bringing your own bag is encouraged although many vendors do provide plastic/paper bags. Some farmers accept SNAP/EBT but lots are cash-only, so it's good to bring some cash if you plan on buying things. Many of the stands were on the pricier side but it's a price I was willing to pay to get locally grown produce. We arrived around 11:30am and the parking was a bit of a nightmare, so I'd recommend coming earlier if you come on a Saturday. Overall I had lots of fun and I'll definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Just in Raleigh visiting for the weekend and we stopped here in a Saturday morning. This farmers market is massive and has a huge selection of items to choose from. There was a massive amount of fresh fruits and vegetables for sale at a decent price, several meat vendors and a lot of baked goods as well. We didn't get to see the garden section but it looked like it had a lot of flowers and plants for sale as well. I liked that this market was more oriented towards actual farm produce than just knick-knacks for sale. We bought some fresh peanuts, muscadine grapes and peaches and they were all great. It's worth a trip if you're in the area.

Dylan P.

Yelp
A great place to get local items at a relatively low cost. It is also a great place to get anything for the garden with a garden shop being right there and local farmers also selling plants. The best place for gardeners and people that just want to buy something local
google avatar

Betsy S.

Yelp
This really is a great farmers market to support the local community. We bought apples, micro greens. onions, bread, turnips, strawberries and more. I love supporting local as these people could use support from all of us! It was a bit chilly but I had my hat so I was good! There is an indoor and outdoor part of the market which is great. I think on sundays it picks up after "church" which is a plus for the farmers! Give them a try- you won't be sorry!
google avatar

Yelp
We came here on a whim. I saw a sign while we were driving and although we've visited my husband's family numerous times, we've never visited this market before. So we decided to stop in to check it out. It was a Sunday at around 3:30. It's a big parking lot, so there are plenty of spots - though I'm sure it's more crowded earlier in the day. The market doesn't close until five, but we were expecting most of the produce to be sold out already but they still had a lot left to choose from. There's one side that sells produce and plants and if you cross over to the other building, they have some baked goods, and souvenirs to take home (i.e. spices, sauces, etc.). Prices seem pretty reasonable. I wish we had a farmer's market like this back at home!

Yelp
What I enjoy most about being a new resident of North Carolina is how much agriculture is at the center of everything. If you have visited the NC State Fair or the Got To Be NC Festival then you'll get a new appreciation for the term " Homegrown ". There is an abundance of local products from jams, fresh flowers and plants, cheeses, fresh baked goods to barbecue sauce, and spices. There is something for everyone to enjoy. What I find unique about the grounds are the NC State Restaurant and Seafood for a nice sit down meal before or after you've shopped. Walk around first before purchasing an item for the best price. I am currently shopping for plants but many were priced $20-$60. We stopped to dine at the NC Farmers Market Restaurant which was a nice treat for an early breakfast. I enjoyed the fresh bologna biscuit and iced coffee. I plan to try the seafood restaurant next visit. Come early, leave happy.

Yelp
Service was great. Food was good but not great. Would visit again but I would try something outside of breakfast.
google avatar

Roberto Y.

Yelp
We enjoyed our time here. Nice market with good variety of vendors and products. Vendors are really passionate about their products. The bakery is really good. Some fruits and products were priced higher than I was expecting. Go spend a couples of hours If you are in the area.

Yelp
I couldn't WAIT, to pay them a visit. There were many vendors to choose from, but it mostly came down the biggest bang for the buck and the crowds. Because I was traveling back to Texas, I wanted something that came in a smaller bundle. The peach vendor was so sweet, she found some of her harder peaches so they would make it back to Texas without getting bruised. They were juicy, my goodness, were they juicy. The strawberries you see in the picture, are the berries I purchased. Again, another great choice and they're so dang fresh. The cherries, believe it or not, only one vendor had. They did so well when traveling, I couldn't wait to eat them when getting home. Lastly, the apple pecan bread. I had a bite, but left it behind to be eaten by a friend. That was the only thing I didn't have a taste for after the first bite, other than that, I LOVED my experience and can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon whilst 70° outside! Hubby and I were walking from vendor to vendor looking at all the gorgeous produce. We saw purple and orange cauliflower. We saw every kind of apple. Local farmers were their meats, homemade sausages such as blueberry maple and holiday blends. Others were showcasing their talents such as birdhouses, trinkets, homemade soaps, spices, jellies, etc. Fresh cakes, breads and pastries were available. This was great! I really enjoyed my time here! If only I had brought a cooler!

C S.

Yelp
Always an interesting adventure and great to purchase from local farmers and artisans.

Yelp
Great place to visit for fresh produce, baked goods, plants, and even wine. There are a plethora of offerings here. The vendors are pleasant and approachable.
google avatar

Kate L.

Yelp
Overwhelming! I've never seen anything like this! It is huge! So many farmers offering a variety of different things. Definitely do a full pass and look at everything first before you start shopping. You'll find a wide variety of quality, items and prices. Bring cash as multiple vendors only take cash. There is an ATM on site but come prepared. It says no dogs allowed, but we saw several while we were there. Not sure why - it is in a covered building but it's open air. Good mix of prepared foods like dips and baked goods, fresh veggies and plants. Open every day too!
google avatar

Katie V.

Yelp
We love Walker Farms. We've been getting our eggs at their stand since 2018. Love Amy too, she's always so friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Yelp
Always a fun trip to explore! Lots of unique finds. Local. Kind. Vendors working hard on their passions.

Yelp
Very nice farmers market. There are two main sections for food and a section for pottery/plants. We went to the food sections. Both sections are covered and one is enclosed. Even though we shopped in the afternoon, there was still a breeze and it was very comfortable. Lots of different vendors, many different fruits and vegetables to choose from. Some of the vendors accept the EBT card. I the enclosed section there are some bakeries and even places where you can get meat, eggs cheese, etc. Great homemade jelly and things as well. Clean, well kept and vendors are friendly and helpful. Prices are generally more than the grocery stores but it's fresh and local so worth the extra expense. We will return.
google avatar

Stacy V.

Yelp
I loved this place! So many fresh fruits and veggies, and plants! The area was clean and the sellers were all very friendly too. We went on a day when a lot of the other things were closed but what was open was outstanding.
google avatar

Vivienne C.

Yelp
I'm a big sucker for farmers markets so I was excited to visit this one that happens every single day of the week? Was a bit worried that since we went in the afternoon, there wouldn't be that many vegetables and fruits left but that was not the case at all. Here are my favorite things in farmers market: - I really appreciate how they have a lot of produce specific to North Carolina. For example, I have never heard or seen a supernog before which is a cross between grapes and lychee so it was interesting to try that. There was also this booth that had a bunch of spicy peppers which are always very fun to see and buy a bit for a spicy pepper challenge. - The farmers market is not limited to produce but also flowers and other trinket and small snacks store which I appreciate. Interesting time coming in October because the back part of the market just seems to be a huge pumpkin patch. - There is plenty of outdoor seating. - I appreciate also how spaced a part all the booths are to one another which gives you some breathing room to appreciate each stall. Overall, fantastic experience at the Farmers Market. Wouldn't say you could spend very long here if you didn't try some of their local foods, but would recommend when in RTP area.

Yelp
We really enjoy our trips to the State Farmers Market anytime of the year. On our last visit we had a lively and educational chat with Eric of Sauer Family Farm from Coats, NC. He had a booth set up outside next to the Seafood Market. We learned that there are many local farmers who grow sustainable, clean foods. Eric offered details on how their animals are raised and the healthy diets they have. We are very interested in staying healthy, supporting our local growers and keeping our NC economy strong.

Yelp
You gotta come here ! Insane varieties of tomatoes, peppers, flowers, jams, bread, baked goods, so forth. I was so impressed. I wish this was closer to my house, I'd come all the time.
google avatar

Natika G.

Yelp
I love coming here! It's a real vibe! This is one of the largest farmers market in Raleigh. They have vendors outside and inside. There are also restaurants! I normally come to get the same thing depending on the season. I love getting honey, strawberries, peaches, quail eggs and the beautiful flowers! There are a lot of vendors here with a variety of options. This year the prices are up but prices are up everywhere.

Olivia F.

Yelp
Humongous variety of produce, plants, baked goods, soaps, confections, flowers, and jarred foods. NC orange watermelon is a must-buy
google avatar

Lilia V.

Yelp
It was our first time to the restaurant! It was a Monday around 11 and we were seated right away. The waiter and hostess were super nice! So they bring biscuits to the table! OMG they were perfect!! Our youngest had from the kids menu, their waffle with egg and sausage, the oldest ordered the pancakes with chocolate chips.. She thought the pancakes had the chips mixed in when making them. So she didn't like them. The husband had the corn-beef hash with fried chicken, I had the eggs with home fries and another biscuit!! Everything was delicious! The plates were hearty and there was no leftovers! The place seems to get busy and it was getting packed as we were leaving! Great for groups and when the weather is nice there seems to be outside seating! There is plenty of parking. We will be back when in the area again!

Yelp
The State Farmer's market was a bit scary to visit during covid, but I will say that they have done a very good job in making it feel safe to visit. The best place is the peanut lady. You will NOT get fresher, more authentic peanuts anywhere. Period. End of Story. They are warm, they are nicely salted. They are everything a southern peanut should be...and more. And I make a bee line for her when I'm there. Last time I went was during the start of pumpkin/squash season. To be honest, I was a little freaked out by the numbers of people, but they have social distancing one way in and out lines and about half the people were honoring that, and mostly everybody 97% compliant with mask wearing. Thank you for keeping us safe.
google avatar

Lexi M.

Yelp
Great place to get your produce, flowers, sweet treats and even cheese! We came during COVID-19 so there weren't many vendors and prices were a tad high.
google avatar

Sky T.

Yelp
The Raleigh Farmer's Market is a wonderful place to not only grab some fresh produce, but also a variety of local goodies (e.g., honey, candy, jarred foods, ice cream, specialty foods, plants, flowers, etc.). It's a lot larger than what I imagined and was pleasantly surprised with the plentiful bounties and selection to choose from. Everyone is very friendly and it's worth just checking out if you want something to do. There are three main areas: the first is the open area that has primarily produce and plants, the second is an indoor area that has vendors selling things such as desserts, decor, jams/jellies, salsa and other things like that, the last is almost like a cart/booth area with food for purchase. Overall, it's a bustling market that is all about the local product. You will have some fun comparing prices and sampling to find the best of that they have. There are some great deals here that are worth discovering. Support local!!
google avatar

Vicky P.

Yelp
Great farmers market that is open 7 days a week with reasonable hours. They have tons and tons of local farmers and produce to choose from. Lots of fruits and vegetables available as well as plants, pet food, seasonings, decorations, honey, cheese, sauces, and so much more. Parking and bathrooms are available onsite. There is also a seafood restaurant here that you can stop at for lunch. If you need a last minute souvenir or drink/snack before heading to the airport this is a great place to stop at as well. The vendors are all so great and friendly.
google avatar

Emma S.

Yelp
I love this place so much!!!!!!! The produce is amazing and the people are so friendly and everything is reasonably priced. 10 out of 10
google avatar

Samantha N.

Yelp
A great way to support local farmers that offer a great selection of produce, eggs, and local honey! Most stands accepted cards but a few took cash only so be prepared with both. There's also NC Seafood restaurant on site that serves delicious fried seafood for reasonable prices and generous portions. We'll definitely be back again.

Leee D.

Yelp
The State Farmer's Market, open 7 days a week year-round in Raleigh, is a must-visit place!!! I cannot begin to describe the size of the Market and the myriad variety of foods and products, from seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables to meats to bakeries to clothing to glass garden sculptures to house plants to hanging plant baskets to fruit trees and water lilies. In terms of fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, the State Farmers Market has everything and anything! For example, they have fresh apples (e.g. fuji, ginger gold, honey crisp, etc.), cider, pecans, sweet corn, Indian corn, ornamental pumpkins, edible pumpkins, green beans, herbs, dark purple and bronze muscadine scuppernong grapes, bell peppers, hot peppers, micro greens, peaches, watermelon, cantaloupe, Asian produce leafy greens and eggplant, and much more. Look out for the booth that sells countless varieties of artisan tomatoes - you can just take an empty carton and fill it up with any mix of the different types, which include Venetian purple, chocolate cherry, Venetian green, sun gold, Venetian beauty, sunrise bumblebee, etc. The State Farmers Market also has countless booths that sells all sorts of house, garden, and water plants, of all shapes sizes and colors! For example, there are many different types of succulents, fruit trees (e.g. blueberry, fig, lemon, etc.), hardy crysanthemums, herbs, hanging plant baskets, Oscar milkweed, even water lilies! There are also booths that specialize in selling flower bouquets! The State Farmers Market covers 75 acres of land and provides multiple facilities for people in NC to buy and sell products all year round. For example, the Market site has 30,000 square foot Farmers Building, Market Shoppes, Truckers Building, Wholesale Terminal, Market Imports, Craft Building, and three Restaurants: State Farmers Market Restaurant, N.C. Seafood Restaurant, and Market Grill. Check out the Market Shoppes for unique retailers and food vendors, as well as Nahunta Pork Outlet, which offers many different types of quality fresh pork products (e.g. pork cracklings, cured ham, raw meats, lard)! Overall, I would definitely recommend spending quality time at the State Farmer's Market in Raleigh - it is an extraordinary place!!!
google avatar

Bruce K.

Yelp
Still early at 8am on a Tuesday but that's when the newest and freshest arrives. My quick walk through the farmer's market today showed fresh produce, fresh baked breads, eggs, fresh meat, local honey, hand-made soaps and more. Very interesting and if I was planning on doing any cooking here in Raleigh instead of being in a hotel room, it would be even more awesome. [Review 11923 overall, 1705 of 2019.]

David G.

Yelp
Ate lunch at the restaurant on site. Great country cooking. Portion size was large. Service was fast and friendly. They have breakfast all day. Really good time. Glad we went
google avatar

Allen W.

Yelp
The best that small businesses and farms can offer can be found at this market. The food products, and the excellent customer service are better than anything that the big chain groceries can hope to provide
google avatar

Mike O.

Yelp
We have been to farmers' markets before, but this was a farmer's market on steroids. There were SO MANY booths with a vast variety of produce and other items. I thought I knew a lot about produce in my years, but I was humbled after seeing the types of things that I had never heard of before. This is a definite place to go if you are looking to find items that you can find in other produce locations. There is also places to eat and grab some jarred items (which we did). A definite five-star experience.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Pretty cool farmers market. Even in winter months they have plenty of produce to choose from. Beets, gators, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, kales... very plentiful.
google avatar

Andreas K.

Yelp
Simply wonderful - and a standing ovation for a standing Raleigh fixture: fresh from the fields, locally grown, colorfully displayed produce, but also baking goods - and fortunately most vendors have gotten away from cash ...
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
After living more than 8 years down in RTP area, I still can't believe I have not yet been to the State Farmers Market yet. That all changed last Sunday. We came around 11am and started exploring the garden section first. I'm amazed by the vast array of plants and flowers. Why pay to go to a botanical garden when you have an amazing garden with free admission here? Next, we moved to the vegetable stands. I said if I lived closer to the area I would drive by every weekend to buy my vegetables here. Everything looked very fresh and vibrant, from tomatoes to many kinds of peppers. From there, we walked over to another building for the cheese, pickled goods, and lots of baked goods! I can't believe all the different types of butter I saw. Of course, apple butter was the most common. For lunch, we walked over to NC Seafood Restaurant. Since it was really hot out, we tried to find a bench under the shade but they were in short supply. Ultimately, we decided to drive to Lake Raleigh by NC State for a nice relaxing lakeside lunch away from the massive crowd.

Angela R.

Yelp
Food was farm to table fresh. The service was excellent. The tea was perfect and the portion sizes were well above average. They have special water and food bowls so that you can bring your pet to lunch! This is truly a family friendly experience. I would eat here every day if I could.
google avatar

Caitlyn L.

Yelp
I am in town from Texas and was looking for a farmers market! This popped up and what caught my eye was the wide assortment of flowers!! I got there is the place was massive!! The people were super friendly and it was not hard to make conversation with the vendors! The area was conveniently located and the atmosphere was lovely! Made friends with some dogs and there owners and talked to a lot of the vendors about themselves and their inspiration! Overall I'd say I'm very happy!! Will be back!

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
We loved the State farmers market. The food was great. The entertainment was awesome. Cool arts and crafts.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
The market here has a substantial infrastructure, though the parking could be better and another entrance is under construction. The vendors I saw weren't quite as numerous as I'd hoped for the amount of buildup, but there was certainly enough choice for me to find some decent vegetables, including niche hot peppers. Indoor vendors housed things like cheese and sweets, and a large section of Christmas fir trees was up as well. Some vendors seemed to take cards, but not all. It is fundamentally an outdoor, open air space, so relatively good for social distancing, and it was not wildly overcrowded when I visited.
google avatar

Ralphia L.

Yelp
The NC State Farmers Market is my favorite place in Raleigh and THE best farmers market I've ever been to in the US or abroad. Wow, I'm constantly blown away at the breadth of seasonal produce offered here. You can buy lovely fresh fruits and vegetables, often cheaper than the grocery store, while supporting local farmers and businesses. In addition to produce, you can find meat, dairy, baked goods, bouquets, potted plants, and other items. Some stores are closed on the weekdays, so weekends are best if you want the full experience. Don't miss this Raleigh gem!!
google avatar

Boon C.

Yelp
It is 3.5 stars for the rating of the place. It is good option for a place to visit in Raleigh. The State Farmer Market provided fresh produce directly from farmer to household. For tourist is a free point of interest. One good thing is that they have drive through service to pickup you veggies and produce. This market is open air with metal roof on top. The market included veggies, fruit, flowers and plants. The AC building has restaurant and some flea market items. This is the first time I see a cone shaped cabbage. It is weir but interesting. The squash is look like flowers or bell peppers. The visit to this place is about one hour if you planned to come.
google avatar

Kierstyn M.

Yelp
I absolutely love the farmers market. This is an absolutely wonderful place to grab fresh products produced by local people. Seafood, meat, cheese, mushrooms, produce, spices and so much more! You meet so many interesting people and a wonderful variety of products to choose from. It's absolutely wonderful to be able to walk around and experience the fresh air, talk to the people and wander through the many different stalls. It's even more magical in the warmer months when the plant vendors are outside selling their wares. If you are a plant parent this is the place to acquire your new plant babies.
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
The state farmers market is my favorite place to come plant shopping. On weekends, they have the best vendors for any kind of plant your heart could desire! I've been coming here during the pandemic, and for the most part people wear masks and try to stay as distant as possible. But I would suggest coming on the earlier side so that you don't have to deal with crowds. Parking can be a little tricky, so I would also recommend parking on the Centennial campus. Then you can enjoy a lovely walk over to the market. Also, while a lot of vendors do credit cards, I would suggest getting some cash for your purchases.
google avatar

Rob P.

Yelp
The State Farmers market is still a great place to shop for all your fresh produce and fruit. The vendors are all amazing and all around the friendliest. I have not had a bad interaction with anyone of them. If you've never been make a point to go. I promise you will not be disappointed.
