Austin Bar Owners Talk About the Path to Reopening Their Bars Or Not - Eater Austin
"Nathan Hill, co-owner of Stay Gold, The White Horse, and Frazier’s, is not planning to reopen any of his bars immediately. He is monitoring the situation closely, considering polls, social media, news, and new case and death statistics before deciding on reopening." - Nadia Chaudhury
"This Cesar Chavez bar excels in everything divey, and is a great spot to end the bar crawl. There are frozen drinks, live music, plenty of patio space, themed trivia nights, tattooed bartenders, and inexpensive booze." - Thea Newell
This place has consistently good bands playing there as a venue. It's got character. Good, simple, east side bar. Bartenders were friendly and prompt. They have an outdoor patio with some modified shipping containers / tables / etc. that makes it a neat place to hang.
Food:
Good food truck, asian style, I got the Poke bowl, $14 but good.
Also, I recently saw a great local band 'Elevaded' there -- photos below.

My favorite bar/music venue in Austin, hands down. A wonderful variety of local and touring bands playing here nightly. They have the best audio mixing and sound quality for a small music venue in Austin in my opinion, the bands sound great night after night. No cover charge most of the time. Six rotating draft beers and a great bar staff. Cool chill outdoor patio to relax along with a food trailer!

Went to Stay Gold to see a band and I very much enjoyed the experience. Great atmosphere inside with a nice little stage. The outdoor patio is huge and was a relaxing place to hang out while waiting for the music.

The band, Slow Cooked, was exactly what I was looking for...local band playing a mix of covers (good covers) and original music. Horn section and guitar on fire...lead vocals gave me chills...they closed out with Shake your Body Down (Jackson 5)...which happens to be my fave. Bartenders were quick and lovely....watched one bartender cut off a drunk patron nicely with a glass of water...when he tried to come back to another bartender, he calmly declined to serve him, and offered water. Professionals.

Pretty much what you would expect from an East Side bar but done extremely well. The retro vibe holds up through and through, as do their cocktails. They've got a few house specialities but if that's not your thing, then their draught selection should sate you.

East side gem. Live tunes, cold beer, and a chill vibe. No frills and it's awesome.
