Ste. Chapelle Winery & Tasting Room

Went there with a couple of friends and the view is spectacular! They were extremely friendly and answered any questions we had about the wines we ordered and what they’re best pair with. We had all the wine flights! It was quite an experience, along side with a charcuterie. Definitely worth the price, which i thought it was quite affordable. I will definitely be going back. Absolutely loved everything about this place and the staff too.

Ste. Chapelle winery is worth walking up hill for a visit. The wine ranges from dry to slushy sweet. Loved the sweet candy’s and the cutest fudge potato. The young ladies working at the winery were so knowledgeable about the wine and helped with our selections.

This is the oldest winery in the treasure valley and their wide array of beers make it our stop when ever we go there. They have small bites to eat and it is all good. The view down the second fool is a stunning view of the hills and grape vines. I have not done a review recently so we won’t right after they opened Friday. I wanted to get pics of the inside before guest started showing up. The wine was so very delicious. Thank you for your service.

My wife and I are spending a few days exploring the Sunnyslope Wine Trail, and one of our first stops was Ste. Chapelle. The views were absolutely beautiful, and the atmosphere was so relaxing. We each had a glass of their Petit Verdot and loved it. Our server was friendly and made the experience even better. It was our first visit, and we’ll definitely be coming back! PS: I almost didn’t give it five stars because of the hike up the steep hill from the lower parking lot. 😅😃

Beautiful views, very comfortable atmosphere, and pleasant staff. Sad to see the limited sweet wine selection, but those we did have had very good flavor (especially the wine slushies!).

This place is gorgeous. We were on a wine bus tour and this was our first stop. Last time I was here (3 years ago), the staff was very unfriendly and treated like we shouldn't have been there. This go around, they were wonderful, especially the gal pouring our wine. I wish I could remember her name, but she was knowledgeable and even offered sweeter wines to a couple of my friends who couldn't handle dry wine. I definitely won't be waiting 3 years to go back!

This place is awesome! My wife and I visited Ste Chapelle with my parents in October 2023 and this hidden gem is an amazing experience. My father and another guy built most of the main building there as part of Madden Construction in the early 80's (see metal plaque near entrance). Such a cool location and venue! Great wines too!

The charcuterie board was delicious and perfect for sharing for 6, pairing wonderfully with Riesling. A flight of fruit wines offered a fun tasting experience. The sunset view was breathtaking, making the visit even more memorable. Highly recommend!

It's always an amazing experience. This time Devin took care of us and kept the positive vibes going! Looking forward to the next girls mimosa meet up!

Wine selections and service were amazing. Such a gorgeous building with a million dollar view. Prices were very reasonable and they let you build your own flight. A beautiful gem in the treasure valley.

My friend and I stopped in because the weather was perfect. We sat on the patio and were able to look down on the property and vineyard. We shared a flight. She likes whites and I prefer reds. So, we each had 2 small glasses. It was perfect and the wine was excellent. The service was perfect and attentive. I can't wait to come back. Hopefully, the weather permits for a couple more weeks at least.

I've come twice now with my partner and each time we've been blown away. Gorgeous wines, especially impressed by the fruit and white selections. The vineyards are beautiful and make for a perfect backdrop to a tasting. The charcuterie board is divine. The service is always awesome, friendly, and knowledgeable.

We had a wonderful experience! We went to Ste. Chapelle twice. To their Wine After Hours event and had a tasting the following day. The after-hours event was held outside, and the area was clean. For the tasting, we reserved a table ahead of time online. Our waiter, Bryan, was amazing! He was very detailed in going over the different flight options. We briefly mentioned we were celebrating a few birthdays and future birthdays, and he sent out some treats for us, which was so nice! I got the slushie flight, a few small plates, and everything was delicious! We had such a great experience here, and hope we can come celebrate our next event here!

First of all, just driving to the winery offers your senses amazing impulses ... it's calm and beautiful. Once you get there, the grounds are well kept and inviting. Now to the good part .... the wines !! I can't say I liked everyone we tasted, because i don't like sweet, but the 7 or 8 different varieties we tried, were awesome. The flavors and notes rivaled the most notable wines across the country, with emphasis on Napa/Sonoma varieties. We were thrilled with the taste of so many ... and the charcuterie board was extremely satisfying. The real rock stars were Kim and Holly, our servers. If I was a business owner and wanted an A Team to be representing my business, this would be the team !!! So friendly, accommodating, customer oriented, and sincere .... rekindles the spark of what service should be in this country. Don't miss it when near Boise, but if you can't go there, definitely order their wines.

This place is breathtaking. Flew into Boise on a Sunday morning and drove out here with my coworkers. This was the first stop of many, and was my personal favorite. Beautiful views, food, and booze. I had the pink tasting and it was one of the best wine tastings I've ever had. The service was great and overall was just a beautiful experience. It's worth the drive from Boise!

Pleasant staff, good recommendations and fine wine! The Caldwell area was new to us and the area has a good variety of good wineries and varied vineyards. They are all a credit to Idaho wine!

A beautiful spot with good service and delicious wine. The picturesque Chapelle is tucked into the hill overlooking the valley. There is another winery just down the slope that we started our afternoon with. Then we walked up to Ste. Chapelle. It was a scenic walk that didn't take too long, although you could also drive up as well. There's an outdoor stage area halfway up that was hosting a private party that afternoon. We were greeted by a sign asking us to be patient due to understaffing. The wait actually wasn't too long. The view from the outdoor patio is likely amazing; we chose to sit indoors. We split the Panoramic Idaho flight which consisted of the Panoramic Chardonnay, Panoramic Savignon Blanc, Panoramic Malbec, and Panoramic Cabernet Franc. Our favorite was the Cabernet Franc as it was very smooth and drinkable. But all of them were good. The Chardonnay was buttery, the Savignon was refreshing and fruity, and the Malbec was full bodied with a subtle flavor that was almost like licorice. The kitchen was closed as we arrived shortly before closing, but they gave us complimentary kettle chips. I would definitely come back to try their other wine.

First of all, ask for Kim. Absolutely outstanding service from her. This is our second time coming and it was even better than the first visit. Her recommendations have been on point. Made us feel like family. Now to the wine...we don't even drink wine and everything we've tasted has been 10/10. Please come out here. Enjoy the views. Enjoy the wines. Enjoy the service.

The food and drinks were delicious and the ambiance was great!!!! The day we went they were short staffed but despite a few of the employees calling in the servers were amazing!!!!!

We did visit this place recently. We had a great visit . We did a wine tasting experience, we got to look at the beautiful vineyard . What a great experience.

This place has some nice aspects but really wish they would clean their grounds up a bit.

I've been to St Chapelle several times over the years and each time year's apart it has been amazing. The wine is always delightful and the service is always friendly and informative. My love for Idaho wines started here.

My friend took us to a couple of wineries and this was the first stop. Was very impressed by our server and her recommendations as well as the wine tasting menu that was 8.00 per person for five flights. Views are beautiful as well (too bad the weather was cold and windy). Don't forget to sample the chocolates from a local vendor on site (forgot her name). Tried the coconut and lemon (to die for)!

Things have changed here since my last review.....We visited here Memorial Day. We had made reservations 4 days before our visit. There were several empty tables upstairs but only one table near the windows with a view. We asked to sit by the window. The guy working up there said he would seat us there but if other customers came when we were there he would have to move us. We ordered 2 flights and chocolates. Our chocolates were Kit Kats and Reese's peanut butter cups....kind of felt after spending 18.00 dollars per tasting flight we maybe could have been treated a little better. So, no surprise we did not purchase anything else.

Beautiful views! Great service! Fantastic wine selection! Just what one needs when wanting to relax and spend some quality time with friends.

So I brought my brother and his wife and they were visiting from the Dominican Republic. The appetizers were amazing. We ordered the pecan crusted Brie. Sabrina was our waitress and she was amazing and the ambience is, well you know you're at a winery so it's just incredible.

A Winery with a view of the valley, Ste. Chapelle is absolutely gorgeous and a favorite stop on the Sunny Slope Wine Trail when I'm in Idaho. What makes Ste. Chapelle stand out(along with quality wines of course) is that most of their labels showcase picturesque Idaho landscapes, and their magnificent view from the tasting room is a stunning example that fits this theme. The last time I was in, the Love Idaho Series bottle labels caught my eye. As far as taste goes, the Rosé and the Red Blend were my favorites of them all. Classic Musts in my little opinion are the: Snake River Valley Cab Snake River Valley Gem State Red Blend Panoramic Idaho Malbec Red Blends here are anything but boring and basic. Theirs are some of my favorites. I love this place. Definitely make it a priority if you're wine tasting in the area, especially if you're an ambiance person like I admittedly am. Notes: *Lots of parking and a wide drop off area...try not to laugh when you pass Chicken Dinner Road. :-P *Lots of room for large parties, inside and outside seating with a view *Long tasting bar that can fit large parties

Very cute winery set up on a hill with beautiful views & great wine. A little pricy though. Charcuterie board was good, but not deserving of the price. Server was attentive.

The tasting room is very upscale. You are offered a variety of different flights to try. We had one that was misting whites and one with reds. The whites were are good. Not great. However is you like sweet wine, the Soft Huckleberry is to die for. It well balanced and would be easy to drink an entire bottle in a hot day. I found all their wines high on the acid side especially their red. They offer some appetizer platters to accompany their wine flights. I would highly recommend a cheese platter to accompany their wine, especially their reds. I think their red would pair nicely with cheese. There wine are reasonably price and some are available in local grocery store. For instance I found their Riesling at WinCo.

The service is horrible and wine is mediocre at best. We have been coming to St. Chapelle for years and it appears that it has only continued to go downhill after being purchased by a large wine conglomerate based out of Washington. The staff is composed of part time teenagers who know nothing about the wine they are serving. Most are on their phones, wearing gym shorts and have no desire to be there. When the most you can tell a customer about a wine is that "it's a red", you know there's a problem. Not only is the service poor, but the quality of wine has also suffered. Most bottles are right around $45 are not worth anywhere near that. It's a shame to see what has happened to Ste. Chapelle, and I would recommend other wineries in the valley!

One thing I love about this winery is the location, as far as winery is Caldwell is has one of the best views. Service was overall good until they forgot to bring us the charcuterie board. At checkout I did mention that they had forgotten and the waiter made it right. She did not question who had done and simply gave us one to go, that alone speaks very highly of this winery. We had the flight of mimosas which was amazing and definitely recommended.

An excellent experience with Snake River Wine tours. Jason and Kathy were so accommodating and the tasting room was phenomenal! Can't wait to come back again!

Amazing views! Service was okay, they are short staffed but we made it work. Brie was delicious with a flight of wine. Highly recommend on your adventures through Idaho Wine Country.

such a beautiful winery and I love the grounds in general. it's kind of a hike to get up the hill to get here, but it works off some of the wine, right? the wine is good here but I would say it's a little pricey considering I usually get the rosè and it's the same kind they sell at the grocery store for $10. you'd think since you're at the winery it would be cheaper but oh well. i'm paying the $9 a glass. the charcuteries here are also really yummy and I recommend them, even though you are allowed to bring your own food. come when the weather is nice and sit on the big wood deck overlooking the beautiful idaho wine country. it doesn't get any better than that, honestly. I don't recommend sitting inside. the tables are small and awkward and it's hard to say anything on them.

My husband and I drove from Boise to try this winery. The scenery was beautiful, the staff was friendly and the red blend wine we purchased was priced quite fair. My husband is a veteran and they gave us a discount on our wine. I appreciate the gesture and am already planning to take family here. Thank you Ste.Chapelle for a great experience! I left one star off because I wish they had a more extensive menu and more seating. (The seating may be different due to Covid-19)

Amazing menu, the fruit flight gave me so many options and usually i'm a huckleberry wine gal so to find out I loved blueberry and strawberry as well was such a nice surprise. service was amazing!!! one of the bussers/cooks asked us what we were doing for the day and we told them it was our 2 year anniversary and not even 10 minutes later he came out with a cute little cake that said happy two years :') it genuinely brought me to tears. I loved going outside but the only thing that I didn't like as much was the flies inside haha, otherwise it was great!!!

We tried 3 different flights, the sweet flight, the red flight and a traditional flight. All were good. The Brie with brown sugar, pecans and sliced apples was amazing! I'd go back for that alone!

Whoa what a beautiful property. The wine is phenomenal. I loved the soft huckleberry and sparkling huckleberry. We indulged on the goat cheese during our 2 sample tasting. It was so delicious.

Another great summer concert. Cold beer on tap. Great wine for the wife. All at a reasonable price. Great event. Ps. Love the frozen adult slashes. So glad they bring a food truck in for each event. Highy recommended.

Our family was extremely dissatisfied with the 2023 Mother's Day event at the winery. So many things were not right. The crowd size, poor parking and lack of direction and signage and where to enter was confusing, direction by rude "security" personnel and a lack of any semblance of concern for our sister-in-law in a wheelchair in this mayhem was shocking. The greed was evident in the number of tickets sold without caring about the conditions as in creating a comfortable distance between guests. Long and slow moving lines further created chaos and confusion by the lack of check in people. Ste. Chapelle is no longer worth the drive or time spent by allowing too many people in too small a space. As many venues decay trying to cash in on our population surge it too is quickly succumbing to our demise of what made Idaho special

Gorgeous setting/views, very interesting architecture, and (of course) great wine and food. We left with several bottles to enjoy at home. I'll definitely be keeping this one on my short list of places to take guests.

Gorgeous location in the foothills with beautiful views of the valley. The wine has a huge variety of styles, something for everyone. Not spectacular quality of wine, but a definite variety and a few price performers. The service is friendly and they were able to take us without a reservation.

Had a wonderful Birthday gathering at the Ste. Chapelle Winery this past week. Had an amazing time, food, service, atmosphere was fantastic. If your in the area, I highly recommend making it a stop. Chad was an outstanding host / server, we enjoyed his expertise and friendly service. Will most definitely go back.

Love, loved this winery! Gorgeous location and excellent deal. For $5, try 5 wines and keep the nice glass as a souvenir. Portions are small, but big enough that you end up drinking 1 glass of wine total (which, for $5, is excellent). Super nice bartenders. Excellent explanation of the wine you are drinking. My friend and I had fun recognizing the different tastes in each wine. Awesome brie appetizer and chocolates in the shop. I loved sitting out on the patio and enjoying the video. Highly recommend!

Great venue on a quiet Friday afternoon. Did two flights and an appetizer. Had a groupon. Solid wifi.

This last visit was disappointing, totally got cheap on the feta dip, service was slow and unimpressive. Hoping it was just an off day but time to move on and try other wineries.

This is an incredible place for a wedding, even when the wind kicked up and threatened to blow the reception away (it died down as quickly as it appeared after about 5 minutes of grabbing everything that might have blown away). The setting is up on a hill overlooking a valley. Not sure if my first cousin, who was the bride's mother, would agree, but it appeared to be an easy set-up for the ceremony and reception. Also, the winery provided some awesome wines. I had a huckleberry wine that was light and refreshing for a hot summer night. Bathroom set-up for wedding guests was also great. If you are looking for a wedding venue in this area, check this place out!

Quelle surprise! Not as bad as I expected the wines to be based on their 'mass market' reputation, Ste. Chapelle makes a couple of decent "schoonight" wines at super reasonable prices. We left the tasting room with our wino, ummm...oneophile, noses lowered from their previous "in the air" position of disdain. We hadn't had Ste. Chapelle wine in probably a decade when a friend poured them at a picnic and remembered them, both red and the white, as one dimensional and leaning to sweet. Not a tasting room where we were eager to go for sampling the wine but we had extra time on in our schedule and Ste. Chapelle was in the area. So in we went with low expectations. Imagine our surprise to find ourselves walking out with purchases. Our advice for serious wine drinkers would be to skip this one. On the other hand, if you're just getting an introduction to the scope of wine being made in the Snake River Valley, this puts a bookmark on the lower end products and the tasting room is in a nice setting often used for weddings and other events. We're glad we went. Once. Not a place we'd choose a second time. TASTING DRILL Tasting fee was $5 and refunded with any wine purchase. We were also given the wine glass in which our tastes were poured. I don't know if that is SOP here or if the free glass was a function of the Sunnyslope Passport Winery Weekend that we just happened to synch up with. We were able to select from our choice of several wines and tasted about six. Again not sure if that is SOP or whether that was a tasting protocol associated with this event. The two tasting room hostesses did a good job of keeping up, even when a big group arrived. Surprisingly, one of the two knew very little about the wine when asked questions. TASTING ROOM A distinctive shape,the tasting room sits on a rise allowing for nice views out the windows. It contains the tasting bar and are wine related gift shop items for sale. There were a couple of comfy looking chairs by one of the windows where folks were sitting sit to recharge. ACCESSIBILITY The walkway to the elevated tasting room is a solid concrete ramp and they have installed an cement apron for accessible parking right alongside. (See photo for sign near same.) Good for them for trying but the slope is too steep to meet ADA law and ID code. Still this tasting room was built in 1979 and the ADA didn't pass until 1990, this is sthe kind of 'readily achievable' access modifications required of all buildings regardless of age to get everyone in the door. If you are using a walker, cane or wheelchair note it can be dicey for safety here but not impossible. THE WINES We were surprised fo find Ste. Chapelle makes a sparkler and in the Charmat style. (Think how Italian Prosecco is made.) A Brut for only $10 / bottle. Drinkable Chardonnay based sparkler. All grapes are sourced within 20 miles of the winery. Bottles sold at the tasting room only I think. We tasted several reds that ranged in price from $12 to $15 a bottle. Also a Moscato for $10. The latter was pleasant enough but lacked finish and didn't make it on our "to buy" list. Of the reds we were most fond of the 2011 Treasure Valley Reserve ($15) that was cherry and dark berries on the palate with soft tannins and the 2012 Gem State ($12) that was newly released and a 50/50 blend of Syrah and Merlot. Ste. Chapelle's best known wines might be their Soft Red and Soft White bottlings. Those are the wines we remember as not so great from our experience in days past with this winery. That they still bottle them suggests there is a market for this style of wine but our recommendation is pass them by. THIS N THAT: 1) OLD TIMER / BIG SIZE: One of the oldest if not the oldest Idaho wineries, Ste. Chapelle produced their first wine in 1976. One of the biggest if not the biggest of all, producing 130,000 cases of wine annually. It was family owned until very recently but in size alone this is no "mom and pop shop". 2) HOURS: Tasting room open 7 days. Mon - Sat /10a - 5p. Sunday noon - 5p. 3) PARKING: Gravel lot downhill from the tasting room. 4) EVENTS: The winery seems to be active in hosting public community events, like occasional music concerts. Also available for private events, like weddings.

We had an amazing time. It can be spendy if you're wanting to get drunk but it you're just enjoying yourself and the view the prices aren't bad at all. It's about $20 per flight and the appetizers are about the same price. Everything in the food menu is super fresh and delicious.

This winery, tucked away under Lizard Rock near Marsing is a delightful oasis of tranquility in an area replete with farms and nearby scrubland that is divided by the mighty Snake River. We were there for an outdoor wedding on a hot, hot day in July when even the snakes were hiding in their holes. Well, maybe not that hot, but I didn't actually see any snakes. The wines they produce here are pleasant tasting and they have a very drinkable huckleberry wine as well. As a venue for a wedding, this place has charm and great views of the valley as you are about 200 feet above the surrounding land. For the mobility challenged there is a definite slope that needs to be negotiated. Overall, if you are in the area, this would be an excellent venue for a celebration.
