We walked 3/4 miles from The Village to try this coffee house. Very glad we did. The cashier taking orders greeted everyone like neighbors. I really like Ginger so I immediately gravitated to the Ginger Spiced Chair Tea. Glad I did as it is delicious. My husband orders Matcha wherever he goes. When asked he replied this version was uniquely good. Maybe it was the oat milk. If you’re in the village, take the time to come. You won’t regret it.

Super chill little spot. Probably one of the best dirty matchas I've had. The place is super clean with plenty of parking and plenty of seating. The breakfast sandwich is dank, and the sweets on point. This spot definitely didn't disappoint.

One of the best places to go for coffee, breakfast sandwiches, lunch bowls and more! The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The environment is calm but social.

Steady State is my favorite cafe and roaster by far. I’ve yet to visit another cafe that can consistently serve top quality drinks and offer a healthy variety in their pour over menu. The staff are particularly kind and make the perfect cup every time. I highly recommend any of the pour overs, I’ve yet to be disappointed. And the PSL is a lovely latte, the definition of a sweet treat. For a less sweet option, the regular latte is great. I can’t recommend this place enough!

This morning, I enjoyed a cup of coffee, with my wife, at Steady State Roasting. The first thing I noticed was the open and airy atmosphere. The hanging plants only added to the ambiance. My wife delightfully sipped from a latte, while I had a house coffee. The house coffee was uniquely flavored, a bit bitter. Steady State Roasting has reusable stirring spoons, which is eco-friendly. Finally, they offer indoor and outdoor seating, to optimize the moment. Yes, this experience was worthy of a return visit.

This coffee shop is adorable and had great seating. The bowl I got was so delicious, hearty, and made with such high quality fresh ingredients. I could eat it every day!

Currently sitting in here as I write this… literally the most perfect coffee shop to exist. I’m a big coffee girl and have tried many other places in Carlsbad, San Marcos, Vista, Esco, EVERYWHERE. Nowhere has beat Steady State and I’ve been coming here for about 2 years now. I feel completely comfortable and welcome every time I come in and enjoy the demeanor of the staff. They’re confident in what they do because they’re great at what they do and they’ve never failed to put a smile on my face, give a compliment or learn something new from people who come in when they get the chance. The environment is great, outdoor and indoor seating, great music and right next to the beach. The best thing that you can get on their menu is the PSL (pancake syrup latte). It’s perfect, sweet but not too sweet and a little salty to balance everything out. Absolutely adore this place and have brought many friends and family here and will continue to do so.

Steady State is by far my favorite coffee shop and the best one in the area. I primarily drink chai lattes, and their “Indian Summer” is amazing because it’s the perfect combination of not-too-sweet with a hint of spice (made with almond milk). I don’t drink coffee, but my friends that do love their coffee. They also offer a bunch of delicious pastries from Prager Brothers (local chain). It has a great atmosphere and environment, and is a great spot to come for a bite to eat and hang out with friends on the weekend. I love it so much, I almost don’t want to post this for fear of it becoming overly busy. But it’s just that good!

First off when you're walking in, they're selling coffee station items with mugs, plates, drips, and burrs, etc. I got a latte with an extra shot and they added fresh cinnamon on top of my latte which is so good !! The coffee was also extra strong , something I loveeeeee and the ambience was cute! Coffee I took my coffee to go, but if you decide to dine in, they serve their coffee and the mugs that they sell.

I'd been wanting to try this place for a long time. So many people talk about it. The vibe is really cool. Very chill. They have what Starbucks lacks: a welcoming sense that they want you to stay, and where you also want to stay. The chairs and benches however were extremely hard and I thought uncomfortable. But it was such a friendly and inviting place. At first I was bothered by the pace of operations. Nobody was in a rush, and it took about 20 mins to get my latte. But then I started to appreciate it. This not a grab 'n go coffee joint. This is a relax and take it all in, slowly, community coffee shop. I appreciated that the employees weren't frantic and stressed out and they were just focused doing good work, being friendly, and not overwhelmed with fast paced pressures. The employees were exceedingly friendly as well. Everything slows down for you when you come here, and I mean that in a positive way. The ambiance relaxes you. Onto the coffee. They have the option for ceramic or paper cups, and they did very nice latte art. They also had very cute metal spoons available. The blend they used for espresso is the Space Traveller blend, which is a mix of washed Guatemalan and Ethiopian natural. I roast and know coffee very well, and I could tell from the flavor profile in the latte (chocolate, lightly roasted nuts, vanilla) that there was a very small amount of Ethiopian natural in the blend. It was mostly washed Guatemalan, and the mild taste and relative lack of body reflected that. For me, it was a good-not-great latte. Lighter bodied than Starbucks, and better bean quality. But I'm not so sure about the choice of mostly washed process beans for an espresso blend. They won't produce much crema or body, which to me are absolute requirements for espresso blends. They don't have low-fat milk and they don't have artificial sweeteners. And for their crowd, that seemed to be ok, but I try to watch calories, so I wish they did. All in all, this was a really inviting, friendly, and unique coffee shop that makes me want to go back. More for the vibe than the coffee itself though.

Steady State sells the best cappuccino I have ever had in my life! I don't know if its their espresso beans, their steamed milk, or what but OMG I finished my drink in a minute. The line was long but it moved quickly and the cashier was friendly to everyone, including the lady who took 10 minutes to order and pay for her drink. 100 percent will be back!

So cozy! Trendy. Coffee is very well made and nice and creamy with oatmilk. We love it! Nice baristas. A few larger tables and some bar spots.

Wow just utterly spectacular specialty coffees and vibes. I can see myself coming back here a lot whenever I'm in town Pancake spiced latte: GETTT!! Such a perfectly warming and spiced latte! It had a great balance of creamy, salty, and sweetness. I'm actually so glad it's not seasonal and I'm going to definitely be coming back for this Matcha: Get This was also delicious and with a smooth earthyness to it that was very pleasant. Again, both drinks weren't overly sweet which I love Drinks: 10/10 Service: 8/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Value: 8/10

Stopped by for a quick latte. I loved the outdoor seating and how they offer you reusable glasses and cups if you choose to get it for here. I'm all for less waste! Rosemary latte - I've never had rosemary in a latte before but this was pretty good. The rosemary was subtle. The thing that impressed me the most was how smooth the latte was! The only thing is the portion - the latte was small considering the price point. There was also a lot of ice (the cup was completely filled with ice) so after 5 normal sips, the latte was gone.

As a barista i'm always looking for new spots that meet my expectations in every part of a drink. The espresso was delicious and the milk was perfect to steamed. Not only was the drink amazing, the ambiance was perfect for a slow morning and they're dog friendly! Everyone was super kind and knew the menu well. The food looked delicious form what we saw and next time we have to get some! It seemed there were pastries bowls and sandwiches! The parking is pretty packed but it doesn't take too long to find a spot even though it's in a small shopping center. Lots of products in the store build your own coffee set up at home as well as merch for the place! Will absolutely be back for the good vibes and good coffee!

I enjoy making the drive to steady state to grab a cup of coffee and a bag of coffee for the week. Jarmillo is my 2nd bagged coffee i have tried here and it is quite lite on the body but the sweetness from the flavor profile was the star --- flavors Service is outstanding - walk in , converse with the front register barista it's worth while they prepare your drink I ordered the PSL and the flavor of that coffee is Take a seat outside and enjoy your cup of coffee and take a deep breathe of the sweet sea breeze of Carlsbad

Being my favorite coffee spot in Carlsbad is a hard title to claim when there's so many good spots. Steady State has done it! Friendly baristas, clean and chill environment with great music always playing, and good quality coffee, food and pastries. Definitely has become a part of my caffeine fix rotation!

The PSL (pancake syrup latte) is my favorite coffee drink in Carlsbad! Weekend lines are long but worth it. Great place for a friend meet up / hang with all their outdoor space.

Charming little coffee shop tucked away in the corner of Carlsbad Village! It was my first time here and the long line out the door said a lot about how much people love this place! All the baristas were so sweet and had a huge smile on their face :) There's plenty of seating and super cute decor/tables/chairs, but no outlets, just fyi. My vanilla latte was a tried and true, but I might try a different drink next time.

I'm usually a coffee person, but today I wanted a non-coffee warm drink. The person at the counter was warm and prompt. There were a few tables inside, and outside, with some people on their laptops. The place was cozy, and I wished I had more time to stay and have my drink in their mug. When they called my name, I didn't have much expectation since I ordered a non-coffee item from a coffee roaster. But boy was I wrong. I took a sip of my Indian Summer, and wished they offer a larger size. It felt like grandma's blanket hug on a chilly foggy day. Next time, I'll be sure to spend more time there and try one of their espresso drinks. What a gem in Carlsbad!

My experience at Steady State was awesome. The staff was so friendly, shout out to Eric for helping me choose what to order, Dunya for being a fantastic cashier, and Trent for serving up a delicious PLC.

On our quest to explore more coffee shops in North County, Steady State Roasting turned out to be a new favorite! What we got: Iced vanilla oat latte - this is my usual order at any place so I wasn't expecting much but they managed to make this one really smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness Hot pancake syrup latte - my husband got this one which has hints of maple syrup but not overboard Chocolate chip walnut cookie - I thought this one was a little dry but the more you eat, the more you'll like it. We appreciate that they serve everything in ceramic ware if you dine in there because I noticed that most coffee shops no longer do that. They also have a nice selection of house roasted coffee beans and the price points are reasonable. We'll definitely come back for those. All in all, nice cute cafe with spacious indoor seating and breezy outdoor area.

Steady State was a really lovely little beachside coffee shop. The staff was really chill and friendly, the lattes were good, and the environment was inviting and cozy. That is... if you decide not to walk a few blocks to the beach. The only really complaint I have is that the lattes are kind of small for the fairly high price. The quality is absolutely there, though. I'd gladly come back to this coffee shop.

This place has been my go-to for several years. The coffee roast is exceptional, service is amazing and now that they've upgraded their spot via expansion it's a chill vibe. It's about a 5 min or so walk from the center of carlsbad village and totally worth a visit.

Had gotten their orange cold brew (I forget the actual name) but that shit was pretty good. Def one of the more unique cold brews I've had, which is why I loved it. The vibe in there was cool too. It was giving cafe inside a tech company. Anyway the staff was super helpful too. Would recommend if ur ever in Carlsbad for some reason

The espresso here is second to none. I'm already craving another one. If I had Steady State next to me I would never need to go anywhere else for my coffee!

Such a popular spot!! There was a line out the door when I went (a Thursday morning) and the parking lot was full, so I had to find street parking. I usually drink Vanilla Lattes but decided to try one of their specialty drinks- it was quite good. The Honey Please latte wasn't overly sweet and still had a good coffee taste. The cinnamon on the top gives it a warm spice flavor which goes well with the drink overall. I like how they shake the latte up in a shaker (like a cocktail) so it creates a small layer of foam- reminds me of how an Espresso Martini is finished. Overall pretty yummy and I would come again. There's a good amount of seating inside if you ever want to do work or chat with a friend.

Loved this coffee shop. One of the best coffees I had in the area. Will be coming back for more. All the drinks and baked goods were just perfect. Their coffee game is top notch. You can get to choose between their regular espresso blend and single origin beans. Both were equally awesome although i would probably recommend blended espresso for most people. The staff is also friendly. The atmosphere is great. Dog friendly and human friendly.

If you love quality coffee, this is the place. Ordered a simple hot oat vanilla latte, half sweet, $6.50. Service was top notch with extremely friendly and relaxed staff. The ambiance is relaxed, outdoor and indoor seating, with parking in a place lot.

1st time here and it was great, the wait time was not bad. The breakfast sandwich was delicious and toasty. The almond croissant was also great not a huge fan of the chocolate croissant. It could've been a little toastier or warm. The chai latte and the maple latte were both house made and had great flavor would recommend.

Wonderful coffee and ambiance. My boyfriend and I come here to study. He visits every Sunday to order the PSL. Yum.

Amazing coffeehouse - great selection of beans (including a rotating single origin), interesting menu (featuring local honey, maple syrup, various spices - no boring industrial syrup and synthetic flavors here), and warm and welcoming service (even when the line is insanely long). The house espresso is aromatic, has body and depth, and the Anserma (Columbia) is incredibly rich and fruity, hits you like the tropical forest, with a charming fermented aroma...Extraction is spot on (no nasty over extraction bitterness). Thick, lasting foam. Strong ice cubes (no annoying ice chips in your coffee). I'm not a pour over person but even the pour over was very palatable. As far as the pastry goes, the morning bun and chocolate croissant were both alright. The right elements were there as far as ingredients and texture and they would've been great if served warm. I REALLY REALLY hope COLD croissant will be OUTLAWED one day. Decor is super cute, music is upbeat but not overwhelmingly loud. Puppies everywhere. They sell some cool merch too including pour over coffee stuff and clothing. THIS IS THE PERFECTION OF A COFFEEHOUSE (warm croissant please).

Love the non-snobby vibes, strong Wi-Fi for working, ample working space, dedicated parking lot, proximity to shops and beach, and most of all, that they pour in mugs if you enjoy your drink there. Met my new fave coffee shop! Not as busy as vigilante in Oceanside and more tables as well as more tables than lofty. Will be back! My mocha was good too!

Pancake Syrup Latte was amazing! A delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors that complimented the smoothness of the coffee. To accompany my coffee, I indulged in an almond croissant. The pastry was flaky and buttery, with a generous almond filling that was not overbearing. A perfect balance of filling and croissant.

Don't waste your time anywhere else. This is the place to go in Oceanside. People who actually know coffee.

I was so excited to try this coffee shop as it was highly recommended by my friend who's a local. The place was bright and spacious, and the staff were very friendly and inviting. I loved the aesthetic and the vibe that this shop had. They offered specialty drinks that I was beyond thrilled to try, as well as some pastries, merch and even coffee beans to take home with you. What we tried: Rosemary Latte - this one was lovely--it just had that perfect hint of the herb that wasn't too powerful. It was quite refreshing to the palate that I can drink 6 more cups of it. Honey, Please!! - more on the simpler side, but it was so well made that I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I also loved that the honey they used was locally sourced (from Vista). PSL (Pancake Syrup Latte) - this one was probably the most intriguing out of the three that I tried. The foam was salty, while the latte itself had a hint of cinnamon and maple syrup--all together, it was quite a unique sip. This coffee shop is definitely a must visit/try if you're around the area! And if you're the adventurous type who loves trying unique specialty drinks, then you should absolutely get the PSL.

If you are visiting or living in North County this is the place to go for coffee. Every pour over I have had has blown my mind and expectation of what coffee is and can be.

This coffee shop is close to the highway and has parking, so super convenient! The coffee drinks are creative and you can taste the high quality in the ingredients. The barista was friendly and patient while we decided on drinks. The shop has tons of cool coffee gadgets and a great aesthetic. Will definitely be back for another Cold Fashion!

I was looking for specialty coffee in Carlsbad. There's a plethora of coffee shops but was hunting for really good coffee. This was the place! Got a breve latte, almond croissant, and iced vanilla latte. Kind of a little hidden spot. Great service. Loved the size and outdoor seating.

I'm a suckered for a hot coffee and this was amazing. Recommending getting it there in their mug. Plenty of opening seating and the staff was very friendly. Visiting from San diego but would go here again whenever I'm in the area

Drove up to try this place and it was well worth it. This place has a lot of seating inside and outside. I got the Pancake Syrup Latte and it had a good balance of salt and sweet, definitely recommend it. People were really friendly and gave me good recommendations.

Went as a group before we walked around town. Definitely a niche coffee shop that serves great pour over coffee. I got a regular vanilla iced latte and it was great ratio of coffee to milk and ice. Staff seemed friendly and helped our group decide on what to pick from their specialty menu. Plenty of spaces to sit indoor and outdoor. There are a ton of coffee shops within a half mile radius of this spot, but I would definitely recommend it if you're nearby.

Cold fashioned & honey please were great! Expertly crafted balance of flavors. Highly recommend, wishing I'd grabbed a bag of coffee beans.

This place is an absolute GEM if you love high quality coffee and beans. We were visiting from NorCal, and during our brief stay in Carlsbad, we came here three times in the span of two days. It's that good!! On one visit, we parked closer to the downtown shops and walked in to this little coffee shop, tucked within a business complex. On another visit, we parked in the lot (there was plenty of parking on the weekend when we visited!). They roast their own beans and have a wide variety of beans for sale, as well as their own clothing merchandise, coffee drink ware, and coffee brewing equipment. We purchased beans from Ethiopia, and it was an absolute pleasure getting to drink them at home. On our first visit, we sat at an inside corner table, the perfect people-watching spot. One thing I noticed is that there was almost always a line. Clearly we came to the right place for coffee. I got a cup of DRIP COFFEE, and my husband got a COLD FASHIONED. Their drip coffee is phenomenal. So crisp and clean! On our second visit, I got a ROSEMARY LATTE with oat milk to go. It was incredible! The sweetness was perfect (aka not too sweet) and the rosemary flavor was spot on (aka not too overwhelming), allowing the espresso to still shine through! There was an actual sprig of rosemary in the drink, which was a beautiful touch. On our third visit, I got an OATMILK CAPPUCCINO and my husband got a COLD BREW. Again, both drinks were spot on, and you cannot go wrong with any drink here. We sat outside; they have plenty of outdoor seating, and the weather was usually so amiable, that being in the outdoors was very enjoyable. They have a beautiful aesthetic here. Their stoneware mugs are earthy and have the perfect weight in your hand. So if you have a chance to stay and sip, please do. An all-around pleasant experience!

Definitely one of the best coffee roasters in San Diego. One of my favorite cups of hot coffee, and always grab a bag of beans to go. They are one of the few roasters that actually let the beans speak for themselves and don't burn them.

Well, I am a coffee snob. In this place is probably one of the best coffee places I've ever been to. The service is absolutely lovely. The atmosphere is wonderful. I love that they use regular cups if you sit there and stay there to drink your coffee. They have lovely pastries that are wonderful. I love a good oat milk and they have the best oat milk there. I highly recommend for you to try this place.

The PSL (pancake syrup latte) is what first attracted me to this place. There was a small line and it was quick moving. The barista taking my order was helpful since it was my first time. The coffee shop was cute inside, a mix of people working from the shop and just enjoying their time. Parking in the back was super easy. Would definitely come back!

My go-to neighborhood coffee shop I almost don't want to rave about this place bc it's still kind of a Carlsbad hidden gem. I LOVE their espresso (the Honey Please w/almond milk is my fave drink). We actually buy our coffee beans exclusively from here and grind them every morning. The Magdalena roast is mellow and easy to drink. The staff are always so friendly and chill. And now that they've expanded the space, you could literally work here all day with the relaxing vibes and smell of delicious coffee. 10/10 recommend steady state.

Stopped here Sunday and really enjoyed pancake syrup latte and honey please latte! Service was very friendly at the register and they have a nice and quick sign up to get points for each purchase. Ambiance was lovely, lots of plants, families and smell of fresh roasted coffee is amazing! Pastries was delicious we tried ham and cheese croissants

By far, the best coffee shop in San Diego. Full stop. The coffee is always innovative, well dialed, and delivered with the care it deserves. Baristas are knowledgeable and consistently friendly. Its cafe area is warm and spacious, with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It has quickly become the only shop I frequent, with its only rival being Necessity in Encinitas. Whether you are a lover of specialty coffee or simply want to relax and catch up on some reading or work, this is the place to go.

This is now one of my favorite coffee shops in the San Diego area! I love the ambience and the spacious, minimal feeling when walking into the shop. I ordered the rosemary latte and the PSL, which surprisingly isn't a pumpkin spice latte but a pancake syrup latte. It wad perfectly not too sweet and i love the sea salt sprinkled on it as well. The rosemary latte was good but it wasn't my favorite rosemary latte that I've tried - I actually prefer the one at Jaunt. Service was also great as I asked through the menu. I'll definitely be back to this cute shop serving great coffee!

Busy Friday late morning. But got my salmon focaccia sandwich quickly after ordering and my rosemary latte in a reasonable amount of time. I ate both at the shop. The sandwich tasted great! The sandwich had arugula, pickled onions, lox salmon, and dill cream cheese. The rosemary latte had a sprig of real rosemary that left sublet hints of rosemary taste while drinking the whole latte. Would recommend.
