Came here for the Sourdough bread pop up event that they had. It was really good. Clever way to bring attention to the beautiful custom knives they make and how they make them by having delicious bread at the event. Of course being that they had a bread pop up, not only did I get to buy some delicious bread, I got to look and handle one of the best bread knives made in Portland. The knife maker......knife maker? Is that what you call a person who makes the knives? Anyway, he was very thorough at explaining the process and how the magic was made to create one of these custom knife. Part of the process is they dip the knife in coffee as part of the QA process. It was fascinating and I was sold on the bread knife after sampling about two baguettes worth of bread from 5-6 bread vendors. I think I will be looking at getting a bread knife for my partner who loves to bake bread for his birthday. These were good solid quality knives. Speaking of solid, they also had a good solid group of Portland bakers at this event. Café Olli, Josh Fairbanks bread, Flour Market, Little T Bakery to name a few. Also, Ken's Artisan had a small pizza oven going slinging out some pies. Although, I didn't leave buying or ordering any custom knives (just yet), I will be back to get one ordered for this birthday gift and when I am not stuffing my face with bread samples and pizza and leaving with 3 loaves of bread that I bought from the event!
