Steinway Pizza

I haven’t been to this place in a couple of years. Now I see why I stopped going here. This used to be a great pizza place. Now the pizza is such low quality I could barely stomach eating this. If you’re considering a square pizza DONT. Idk why kind or bread they use but it isn’t pizza dough. The sauce and the cheese was sub par. Terrible and I will never go back here again.

I visited late this afternoon , I thought it being a Friday it would be much busier which initially had me worried. Nevertheless I ordered a regular slice and it was delicious. Fantastic crispy crust, perfectly balanced marinara sauce, and good quality mozzarella cheese. Reminds me of old school pizza I had as a teen...nothing fancy...just delicious I ordered a slice of broccoli with sausage and a slice of broccoli with mushrooms to go, These were just as delicious as the regular slice. Service is great, very friendly. Prices are very reasonable compared to most pizza places these days. There's no question I will return for their pizza and to try an entrees

Looks like it was delivered by Spider-Man. I like these pizzas because it reminds me of the bad pizza I used to get as a child, but this recent delivery made me feel disrespected. The pizza was cold and just very poorly made. The dough was crunchy in some spots, fluffy in others, and soggy everywhere. Will I order it again? Probably but that’s just because I don’t love myself as much as I should.

I found a hair in the dough of my pizza which is disgusting. I told Grubhub on what happened. The next day I woke up with a stomach virus throwing up and other things leading to massive dehydration. I had to go to the hospital. I am filing a lawsuit against them for food poisoning. Highly recommend to stay away unless you want to be another customer in the hospital

I paid extra for pepperoni on one pie and as you can see it didn’t have it. The white pie looked like it was put together with the leftover old slices that nobody bought, you can see the pieces are all different sizes. The cheese pie looked disgusting, looks like there are even bite marks in it. And had some nasty black old looking basil (??) on it as you can see in the pic. On top of it all both pies were cold, which was the least of our concerns at that point because everything we ordered went straight into the garbage where it probably came from to begin with and definitely belonged. We called to complain and the man on the phone said “then don’t order from my business” and hung up on us. Horrible isnt even the word. Luckily grubhub gave us a full refund but if it wasn’t for them the restaurant not only would’ve done nothing about this but spoke to us like trash. Worst experience I’ve ever had with any restaurant.. and the craziest part is this place used to be my go-to for a while. Disappointed and disgusted that this is how you treat loyal customers

I do wish they would fully cook the rotisserie chicken, the flavor was on point, yet I had to finish the chicken in the microwave, and I pray they don’t add pork to the menu and what ever pork they have they substitute it , It would be nice if the stayed with a Leviticus or levítico 11 choice of food, vegetarian friendly cheeses, if it’s still nursing it can’t be for food a.k.a. Rennett of animal. It is northern kingdom Jake owned business, I also pray the truth reaches them like how Moses was reached by God , and the king reached to the father’s right hand

The staff was extremely rude to my delivery driver, which he even mentioned how they threw the food at him after he attempted to confirm it was the correct order with them. Based on previous Google reviews, there is no doubt that this establishment is unprofessional and rude. Whether it’s customers or delivery drivers, they should all be respected. Very disappointing! My food wasn’t even packaged good because if it being thrown!

Cheese pizza was great - the souse is little sweet and you can fell the tomato’s in it. A lot of cheese 🧀 very nice But buffalo pizza was old and not tasty. It had a lot of Tabasco spice also and it was hard. Cheese pizza is awesome very recommend it

I love Steinway Pizza's crust. I've passed by this spot for years but I wasn't before enticed to try it. Mostly because their space isn't aesthetically pleasing. Pizza delivery boxes were everywhere and an assortment of poster advertisements adorned the wall wherever there was available space. But on this particular bright cold Feb day, I was hungry, parked outside, and I had about 7 minutes to eat something--anything. The stars were aligned. Did I mention that I loved their crust? Steinway Pizza's (SP) plain slice is a NY-style pizza slice that other places would consider as having "extra cheese". So if you're in the mood for extra cheese and don't want to pay for it (except for coronary blockage) then this is the place for you. Somewhere between thick and thin pizza crusts is where I'd place SP's straightforward crispy crust. It works well for SP's pies, needless to say, all of this jibberish is so subjective. While I couldn't discern from where their aged Mozzarella is sourced, it tasted of acceptable quality and typical fare of by-the-slice pizzerias. SP's sauce is canned and sweetened but not to the extent of a St. Louis-style pizza. There's just enough sweetness present (moreso than what the tomatoes provide on their own) but not overbearing. When assembled and baked, the product is an excellent NY Style pizza that is right up there with SP's peers. Service is adequate and provided by semi-attentive staff. Pricing is fair and typical of neighboring slice-styled pizza parlors. I don't typically order pizza delivery, mostly because home is a land far, far away from Steinway Pizza. But when I'm craving a "slice" and I'm loitering around Steinway Street, SP is my pizza destination of choice.

January 2023: Pizza was alright; for me, I would not give it a second shot for reasons: the portion size of the slice was small, price was comparable to a higher quality pizza shop in BK, lacked in a variety of options... Compared to other establishments in the other boroughs, I couldn't agree paying for a slice from here. The ambience is casual and very old school. Presentation wasn't up to par. The good thing is that it's located on Steinway. Cash was preferred. Service was inattentive.

Oh boy... where do I start? My delivery order was late by about 20 minutes. The delivery person was friendly and the food was warm but that's where the pros end. - The fries I received were literally soaked in oil to the point where it was inedible. - The chicken wings had no seasoning on them. My chicken parmesan sandwich was made with grilled (not breaded and fried) chicken. - The pasta was ok but the "meat sauce" was just chopped up hamburger/ground beef mixed in with a vodka sauce? Definitely avoid this place at all costs. I threw everything away after a few bites and proceeded to put a new delivery order in from a different restaurant!

A little disappointed. The pizzeria needs a deep clean and smartening up. My pizza slice was basic and ok. Will I be back, no!

This is the most underrated pizza shop in Astoria. Crunchy, buttery crust and chewy on the inside. Sauce has sweet & savory notes. Decent cheese. The only downside to this place is the dude that works the counter. Stop handling money and making pies at the Same time... gross. If you go here, ask for the lady to help you, she washes her hands. I've eaten at 90% of the pizza shops in Astoria, and this one is an A++++

Food is decent but the people who work there are so rude. The food came quickly but all of it was cold. You would think that in 34 degree weather, the rude and thoughtless delivery guy would provide thermal coverings. I called the restaurant to make a complaint and the person who picked up goes, "Yea?!" I asked if it was Steinway Pizza and he responded with the same rude, "yea!?!" $48 including a $3.50 tip worth of stone cold food and HORRIBLE customer service. I doubt I will order from here again. I only leave a negative review when it's one unacceptable thing after the other.

Their chicken and broccoli pizza is delicious. They make their chicken cutlets very thin. For $8 you get a plate of fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and rice. ::Bathroom Alert:: The bathroom is clean. You have to ask for the key that is attached to a water bottle The workers are very polite. They finally have soda machines and removed a few tables. Their prices are good but a soda can is a $1.50. They don't have free wifi. In the summer they have the back area opened. It's a pretty cute place to have a quick bite.

My slice was good! Typical NY good slice! Probably use Grande pizza cheese. I can usually tell. Grande pizza is the best IMO! Nice lot of real estate out back that could be really charming if fixed up! Right now there is a lot of junk and garbage, and mismatched tables & chairs that look like they were taken from the curb if an out-of-biz fast food joint. The back lot is lined with brick, and a character-filled, peeling picket fence.

Upon my family's arrival The manager and employee with the gray ponytail where being undeniably racist towards my bi-racial adult son. The employee denied my sons simple request of tissue during the time of purchas and continued to make excuses.

The worst NY pizza I've ever had, no wonder the place was completely empty when I went in there. I never write reviews, that's how bad this pizza is.

I know everyone hates this place but honestly the pizza is not half bad and neither is the salad! But the hidden gem? Grab some pizza and go sit in the backyard and enjoy it. Really brings up the experience 10x fold. Really, it's a great cheap experience and I know you'll love it. Nothing witty, just reminiscing about all my dates that I brought here. Is that a tear in my eye? Why yes it is. Is that a cheesy love song in the background? Yes. I'm my own summer love. COVID-19 dating scene to the max.

Strain way pizza has great pizza just a little to much cheese for me and there wings I did not like so much it taste like Buffalo sauce and spaghetti sauce mix together did not like

Delicious pizza in Astoria! The service was great and the pizza was soo cheesy. Their Shrimp Alfredo is really good and for a first timers NY Pizza, it was phenomenal.

So, there pizza is pretty good BUT their penne a la vodka is so F'N GOOD! It blew my mind and for the price their pasta portions are huge! Full trays. My kids love it, it's our go to place for pasta nights when mom doesn't feel like cooking and cleaning. Just pop that bottle of wine and wait for the delivery! Oh and delivery is SUPER FAST! So by the time your kid is asking for a snack for the 3rd time *ding dong* dinner is here!!

Didn't this place used to be called Star Pizza? Maybe, I am wrong. I love this spot whenever I am on Steinway in Astoria. I usually order the chicken pasta alfredo. It comes with a side of rice and a piece of bread. There is a big seating area if you are not taking your food to go. In the summertime months I like to head to the back area because there is beautiful out door seating. The prices haven't changed too much in the passed couple of years.

I'm not going to review anything else besides their Silician pizza. Because that Sicilian pizza is what I come for only. I am not going to rate their average-going toward sitting there and need reheating regular slices, garlic knots, topping slices or dishes. Oops, I just contradicted myself and said how their regular slices are. I really like their Sicilian pizza. On the right occasion the cheese is going to be gooey and it's a mid-sized chunk of it covering most of the core. I like it because it is quite a thick square. Not a very large square pizza but, again, thick. It is airy at it's core and has a crisp factor like bread but not really. The sauce is lightly chunky. And I usually go after the edge crust when I can. It is done right in comparison, but not exactly, to a pretzel+bread combo crunch. I'm sure there's -alot- of carbohydrate count to that thick core of bread especially if more than one square slice is eaten, which I have surely done. Does the pizzeria deserve a 3-star-A-OK review, yes. If it spruced up their pizza and etc... game to getting people to like, like I like their Sicilian slice might get them a better rating, especially with the Steinway shoppers wanting a pizza.

Not bad for a late night pizza. Well almost midnight so it's not bad. Prices were decent. A bit run down but that's when you know they've been around for sometime. Lots of other options to choose from so I'll definitely be back to try other things.

I came here ordered 2 slices- one pepperoni, one cheese, and a beef pattie with cheese. I paid for the pizza. Then I went back up and gave the man a 10 dollar bill to pay for the beef pattie. He gave me $6.50 back. The pizzas were ready so my children sat down to eat. After about 25 minutes of sitting I noticed I still didn't get my beef pattie. So I walked up to the counter and asked the man, who was distracted by the Mexicans vs. Germans soccer game, for my pattie. He looked in the oven then informed me that they forgot to put my pattie with cheese in the oven. I asked for my money back. He gave me $2.75. I told the man I paid $3.50 he said no I only charge $2.75 for the beef pattie with cheese. I told him I gave him a $10 bill. I also told him he gave me $6.50 in change back. I slightly raised my voice and said, "Now I know $6.50 plus $2.75 doesn't equal 10 bucks!" He just looked and insisted that he only charged $2.75. Since my son and daughter were with me I didn't bother to get ghetto or argue over $0.75. I got my things and I left. I won't be back here. Mind you, this was my favorite pizza spot, but not anymore. If you eat here ask for your receipt.

This is a very average pizza place serving typical NYC style pizza. It has been in the neighborhood for many years, so at least you know they are consistent. Decent amount of sauce and cheese on their slices, and the prices are also very average: $2.75 cheese slices and $3.50 or more for topping slices. A safe but unexciting choice.

Uhhhmm. I recently ordered spaghetti with tomato sauce from this place. It was what I call 'Boyardee Orange', and tasted as such. No garnishes, no attempt to make it look better than it tasted, just spaghetti with sauce. I tasted no garlic and no herbs. Maybe it was pizza sauce out of a can. Who knows. Did I eat it? Well, I'm Italian, so yes. But I wouldn't bother with it again.

The food is really delicious!!When I'm thinking to eat pizza or pasta I always think in this place.

It's good! Admittedly, I was pleasantly surprised and wasn't expecting much. I live in the neighborhood, and think all the pizza is...hmmm...just okay, but I will always love pizza, and while I was doing some shopping on Steinway Street, I stopped in for a slice of white pizza and added hot sauce. The pizza was crispy and delicious; there was plenty of seating and the service was quick and friendly. When shopping in the area, stop in. It's pretty good!

Love the pizza here one of my favorite pizza restaurants in the neighborhood! This spot is really good for groups and in the summer even more because they have the backyard open and it's amazing I don't know why it got bad reviews I've tried most of the food here and it's always really good maybe other people had bad experiences but I haven't had any so totally recommend this spot if you're in the area

The pizza here is decent, the service is excellent. I often go there to get pizza for my job, after a couple of weeks, they started throwing in a free 2-liter soda and whatnot...very nice guys. I get Rusty a meatball sub from here occasionally and he really enjoys them.They seem a little bit salty to me though. They have steam trays of different lunch items available. Regular pizza stop prices. They've got plenty of booths to sit in and enjoy your pizza, and it seems like they have space out back for when the weather is nicer.

The white pizza was underwhelming and overpriced. You can find way better elsewhere for four bucks.

I'm giving it 3 stars because the cheese slice was good, was it the best slice I've ever had? Not close, but will it hit the spot if you're craving pizza? Most Definitely. I dined in but saw they offer free delivery which is also a nice perk in a land of delivery fees. I tried a couple bites of the chicken roll and a chicken parm hero and I was underwhelmed by both, the chicken in the roll kind of tasted like the processed frozen chicken you just reheat, it was pretty disappointing. I don't know if I just caught them at a bad time but a lot of the items on display looked like they'd been sitting for a bit. I passed a spot called Retro Pizza on my way home from here and popped in out of curiosity, everything looked a lot more fresh, I'll most likely try there next time.

Amazing pizza! I can only speak for dine-in experiences (and only for pizza, none of their other food), but I love their plain and Sicilian slices. Always fresh, very tasty.

I really wanted a slice and I was trying to help local businesses during the pandemic but this place needs to close. The dough and sauce were tasteless. Probably the blandest, least satisfying slice I've had in a long time. If you feel the need to show love to Astoria, do it at Retro or Dino's (both still open).

Star Pizza is now called Steinway Pizza. It bears a remarkable resemblance to a Sbarro inside. Just like Sbarro, they offer all kinds of simple American-Italian quick dishes like baked ziti, chicken parm, lasagna, penne a la vodka, and so forth. I stuck to the basics and got a slice of cheese with a pepsi. The slice of course tasted better than Sbarro, but I did have slightly higher expectations based on the presumption that it had a strong neighborhood connection and probably has been around for a while. It was nothing extremely special, but a decent slice of NY pizza. My friend had baked ziti and the ziti definitely did not have enough marinara on it. The ziti was big in size but light in weight. The taste was nothing to be excited about. Parking wasn't particularly difficult on this area of Steinway Street, but it's limited to 2 hour parking. I just made an impromptu stop at the first pizza place I saw in Astoria, but I know for a fact there are better places to get pizza in this neighborhood. I just can't remember their names unfortunately.

The last few years during the summer time I continue to get the ices there and no other place, there ices are that good

This is just your typical pizza place, nothing too fancy. I live very close by so I call for delivery and pick up for convenience. They don't take cards over the phone! Customer service is not always the best but a perk is that you can get a quick hot meal, they have a buffet selection with a lot of good options and outdoor seating.

I ordered pizza and spaghetti and sauce from Seamless. At 12:46PM the email came back saying the order would be here in 30-45 minutes. I called at 1:49PM asking where it was (I had called 5 minutes earlier and they said 3 minutes). I called and he said another 5 minutes and it's now 1:50PM. I am trying to feed a 4 year old their lunch. The manager said I can cancel the order through seamless if I want. We've waited this long and he is hungry. I am appalled the manager was this rude. He told me he was to busy to try and locate the delivery guy. I will not be ordering from them ever again or eating in their establishment.

Pizza is just okay. Classic parlor a bit, but with steam tables that made me feel a little uncomfortable. There's just something about steam tables at a pizzeria that is unsettling. It's better than many, but there are much better in the neighborhood. Por ejemplo, Posito a block away. The crust has a little too much texture and not enough moist for a non-thin slice. Staff is nice and the steam tables seem okay, but still... nothing outstanding. Not even great. Astoria? are you listening?

This place stinks both the food and establishment. I saw spice containers located on top of the garbage bins. The pizza itself is worse than dollar pizza. Have no idea how this place stays open when there are much better places in the area. Real disappointment considering I read an article that claimed that this establishment makes excellent pizza, not only that the article claimed this was one of the best slices in New York, I wonder what the reviewer was thinking, this pizza sucks.

Once I was on time out for throwing my little cousin on the ground when I wanted to play her xylophone. I counted to 1,789 to pass the time. That's probably close to the number of times I've been to Star Pizza. Whether you're craving a plain slice, some garlic knots, their signature "Ceasar Salad" slice, or an authentic pasta dish - look no further than Steinway's best pizza shop. Everything at Star is delicious, and the staff is very friendly. If you go there twice a day like some people (no names mentioned), they'll know you real quick and you might even get some perks. (Free garlic knots anyone?)

This place was horrible. First off the pizzeria itself was very hot and uncomfortable to be in. Secondly, I waited a good 3 minutes to order my pizza when standing to wait for someone to come to my service. When someone finally came I saw a man stand up from the back room resting not acknowledging his customers. When I finally got to order my pizza ( 2 cheese slices and a snapple) I realized the pizza was pretty pricey. 2.75 a slice and 3.50 for a pepperoni slice. Now the pricing wasn't the big deal it was the quality of the pizza that I say it shouldn't be worth that much. I got my pizza and it burnt. BURNT PIZZA IS NEVER GOOD PIZZA. The cheese and sauce didn't mix well as it was bland and it was tw crunchy. Again because it was in the oven too long. My pizza couldn't even fold. I will NEVER come to eat at Steinway Pizza again. Unacceptable.

I agree with everyone else - the pizza is just average; nothing special and no different from most pizza places I've been to. But they do have televisions, which is a first. My mushroom pizza probably had less than 8 slices of mushrooms and it wasn't reheated that well. The staff were kind though and the wait was fast.

This is one superb slice of pizza. I don't know what the rest of the menu is like, but the plain slice is terrific. Great balance, great cheese. It also has an outside area in the back with a tree where you can eat, and that's really nice. The one drawback was that the place was too hot, but with that outside area, that's no problem.

Pretty good food, they have chicken, mashed potatoes and lots of goodies. Best time to go is around lunch time.

My favorite pizza place in Astoria. Pizza has the perfect mix of flavorful sauce and crispy crust. Their delivery is fast and efficient, and you can pay with a credit card.

I like the pizza here.. It has enough of everything, especially cheese...lol Try the zeppollies (so not how you spell that) there my favorite. Enjoy =0)

It's Good I like this pizzaria. It brings back high school memories of going in there and eating good pizza at a good price and having fun with my friends. Although not too exciting, I like the plain slices the best. They have a nice simple satisfying flavor. I like to eat here when I go down to steinway street on a summer day and I see the guy outside selling the italian ices and smell the fresh pizza. Its good, give it a try.

Awful service! It might have been tolerated if the pizza actually looked good. But after getting an attitude from the front, we took a look at the pizza and left. Hopefully others have better experiences.

Figured I'd grab a couple of slices on the way home. The pizza just wasn't good. Bad, even. I'd rather go to a dollar pizza joint than eat here. And that's saying something.

Ordered a calzone, a cheese slice, and garlic knots from here on seamless. The calzone was not fully cooked, the pizza wasn't packed properly so all the cheese was stuck to the bag, not he pizza. The only good thing was the garlic knots and that they were on time

went by with my girlfriend since we just moved to Astoria we got 2 cheese slices and a pepperoni slice we were really hungry so its was not bad i would just say to improve more the flavor of the sauce, needs a bit more salt and garlic and a tiny bit less cheese because they exaggerate putting a lot of cheese i say this because i make pizza and know the flavors but overall not bad to eat pizza here if your hungry Give it a try why not
