Pop Pie and Stella Jean’s Expanding to Pacific Beach and Further North | Eater San Diego

"I learned Stella Jean’s Ice Cream — a small-batch scoop shop — will join Pop Pie Co. in the same 1,100-square-foot Garnet Avenue space in Pacific Beach, operating side-by-side like their existing joint storefronts in University Heights and Costa Mesa and their newest cafe in Point Loma. Stella Jean’s makes ice cream with live and passion that you can taste in every bite. We tried the Ube toffee and the s’mores flavors and we loved how layered and rich the flavors were. The waffle cone is also extra special with a buttery cinnamon crunch that brings even more depth to the whole experience. 10/10 this is our new favorite treat.

This is my favorite ice cream place!!! It tastes so fresh, and i love the texture of it!! I also love how they have deliciously creamy dairy-free options!! They also have house-made waffle and sugar cones. I also love their diversity of scoop sizes, like the kid's size scoop and "split scoop" (2 small scoops of different flavors). I like how adults are allowed to get a kid's size scoop. I get those when I'm in the mood for just a little sweet treat. In the photo, I have chocolate on top, mango sticky rice in the middle, and guava cream cheese on the bottom in their house-made waffle cone.

The mango sticky rice was great but the ube + pandesal toffee really stole the show, even though I’m usually not a huge fan of ube. The woman working was also very friendly and full of smiles while we were trying samples of the flavors. Highly recommend!

Incredible! I had the ube pandesal toffee and I’ve never had anything quite like this before!! I’ve definitely had ube ice cream in other places in SD but this is in another league. Such a cute shop and with incredibly nice people working here.

I tried the Guava Cream Cheese ice cream and my fiancé got the Ube+ Pandesal toffee ice cream and we both enjoyed it so much! The place is very cute and the decor and whole vibe is fun and welcoming. A young man helped us choose a pie and assisted us with ice cream samples and he was so kind and helpful! Give this place a try and you’ll really love it just as much as I did.

Loved our ice creams! Strawberry Oat Crumble was a must. My partner rated the Mango Sticky Rice as his #2, while I favored the Toasted Black Sesame. These are split single scoops. Great amount for one person.

Got ice cream here! It was delicious, we each got something different and the variety of flavor was awesome. I got a Strawberry with Oatmeal Crunch; I love oatmeal so this was oatmeal for me. My friends got the Mango Sherbert and the Ube Pandan. Both very delicious - the Ube was rich like a chocolate ice cream and the Sherbert was sweet. Highly recommend all three flavors, but my strawberry was definitely the best!

I love this place!! I thought, “dang…. Handle’s is three doors down… this place HAS to be good to compete.” And they are!!! The flavors certainly are robust and take a welcome departure from your everyday flavors. I was thoroughly impressed by the ube and s’mores flavors. Customer service was friendly and had a great attitude. The atmosphere here is amazing. If you are in the area, treat yourself here!
