Best Restaurants in Bucks County, Pennsylvania | Eater Philly

"Stella is luckily on the waterfront in New Hope, which means there are exceptional views along with tempting menus for long weekend brunch and dinner at the inviting restaurant. Try the wild mushroom dumplings for a snack, or go for one of the larger dishes, such as the diver scallops with pancetta and quinoa; ras el hanout-spiced duck breast; or the brunch-only crab cake sandwich. Drinks lean fruity, with options like the Orchid Beach with grapefruit vodka and pamplemousse liqueur, or the Peach Pit Theory with wheated bourbon and peach/angostura bitters." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Best Restaurants in New Hope, Pennsylvania | Eater Philly

"New Hope is very pet-friendly, so it makes sense that one of the most popular restaurants in town would cater to dogs, too. Stella, at the Ghost Light Inn, offers a “pup menu” of chicken, salmon, or beef for your pooch (proceeds benefit the Animal Alliance of NJ) while you meditate on Delaware River views from the patio. The human menu is not shabby either, with seafood dishes like scallops served over quinoa and pancetta, black bass with root vegetables and vanilla velouté, and Jail Island salmon over farro, mushrooms and sweet corn velouté. If you get stuffed and want to hit the hay immediately, the Ghost Light Inn offers a dog package that includes a bed, biscuits and more, so you can peruse the dessert menu of custom cakes and artisanal cheeses, and then upstairs to sleep." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

We’ve been coming to Stella since it opened and have never once had a bad meal. Everything on their menu is excellent. Their pizza, their salad, their pasta, seafood, meat. It’s all so good. Great quality food and worth every penny you pay. Staff are always so friendly when we dine in or order take out. Always clean inside and food comes out in a timely manner. There’s a reason it’s one of the most popular restaurants in town. BYOB is great as well. I hope they stay in business forever. It’s become one of our favorite places!

Google
This is a middle to lower-end Italian place with very standard, familiar, and bland American-Italian food. There are no surprises or excitement on the menu. The best way to describe the food served would be - inoffensive. The service is subpar. We've had servers reach over our plates to serve other guests, drop stuff on us without apologizing, and simply not use please and thank you. Very surreal experience. Lastly, they do not have a liquor license, which is a let down - would have made the meal much easier. Would not recommend, unless this is exactly what you're looking for, whatever the reason.

I have been here twice once for brunch and once for dinner, food was delicious!! Both times!, Loved the atmosphere I felt like I was in a small cafe in Rome! My husband is gluten intolerant and had no issue ordering or enjoying his food.We also loved sitting outside after dinner with our coffee to listen to music and watch the sun set🌅

Google
A menu with great classics and some more unique Italian dishes. The food is so flavorful and I finally decided to dine in for the first time. Our server was so friendly and made the night even more memorable! I take out here a lot but was glad we decided to dine in

Google
They might have my favorite appetizer- filet tips. Big menu and I love everything I’ve tried so far. Been here at least 4 times in two months. Love with great parking lot!

Pleasant and polite service from the moment you walk inside. Super delicious menu items, definitely recommend the prosciutto pizza in its rectangular form. Trying the specials of the day are also a great option if you want something different. Clean dining room and well lit parking area.

Google
Hubby & I dined for the 1st time here & they did not disappoint. We LOVE that all the food was served piping hot. Started with Hotsy Totsy Shrimp & that was DIVINE! Super flavorful & nice size shrimp. Then the fried Calamari, that was ok. We kept getting that stringy bit in every chew so not a fan. But the coating & flavor were good! Then we got a slice each of pizza, Bianca & Boom Shroom. SO DELISH thin, crispy & flavorful. They were “BOOMIN!” Our Sandwiches of choice was Farmer & Grilled Steak. Both served with a pickle & thin crispy chips sooo good!! We took home leftovers & all warmed up nicely in the oven. Would’ve been 5 stars if it weren’t for the Calamari. We will DEF be going back & bringing friends.

Google
Great food and great service! Took it to go because it was late, but I liked the ambience there. Had penne a la vodka with sausage. And they threw in a fresh hot Zeppole (doughnut). It was delicious!

Yelp
I really want to give this place five stars, but I've had mixed experiences in terms of service. I had Angela the first time I went here and she was excellent. She was friendly, but professional and knew the menu well. However, other times the service has been very short. The food is good! We really enjoyed the arancini in the cacio e pepe sauce. Absolutely delicious. The campanelle vodka is amazing too. The sauce is delicious and the pasta is perfect for the sauce. My mom got the house-made cavatelli which was more soup like and she didn't love it. Just personal preference here. We both enjoyed the cheesecake! We loved that they give pizza bread before the meal. We don't love that they only do slices of pizza for lunch if you want to dine-in. Their slices are $5.00 and in my humble opinion, not the best. My mom loved their pepperoni. I had their white and grandma. White was disappointing, grandma was decent, but nothing to write home about. In my review, I would have overlooked some things to give them five stars, but the service is really a mixed bag. One of the servers mansplained what a Sicilian slice was to me. Overall, would recommend but ask for Angela.

Yelp
Rounded up to 4 stars The restaurant offers multiple disparate vibes when you enter. The first thing that you see is a pizza/takeout counter (which is fine). At the edge of the dining room was live music (I was there for lunch). There was a gentleman playing electric guitar and a woman singing. The dining room is large and comfortable. The Eggplant Parmesan was disappointing. The Gelato was very good. The service was attentive.

Yelp
Went there for my friends 60th birthday party when I first heard he wanted to go a pizza place for dinner I was a little surprised but this place is so much more than a pizza place The ambience is very nice and the staff is very friendly We started with the hotsi totsy shrimp And a cesser salad both were very fresh and good. I had the crab linguine and it was Fresh and tasty All 4 of us enjoyed our meal and I will go back

Yelp
Great service and great food! Had the penne a la vodka with sausage. Took it to go because it was close to closing time.

Yelp
Ate here last night with another couple. Pizza joint in front and restaurant in back. Not much ambience, but comfortable. It's a BYOB, which is nice. We had a 7 PM reservation and were seated immediately. They ran out of all their specials except one. We all had salads for starters and they were average at best. For mains my wife and her friend shared the roasted chicken and eggplant parmigiana. Both said it was good. My buddy had the shrimp fra diavlo and said it was very good. I had the braised short rib and also very good. It's a solid 3 1/2 in my opinion.

Yelp
I went to a baby shower here yesterday. The host told the restaurant prior to the party I had a severe gluten allergy. I made it clear MULTIPLE times to the server I needed GF. I even double checked when she brought my salmon dish over and she said "the salmon dish is gluten free" luckily I only had one bite or I would have been hospitalized . The salmon itself was gluten free but it was on a bed of couscous , which is not gluten free. I told the server and she didn't even say sorry . She said "oh yea only the salmon is gluten free but the other stuff isn't . Do you want something else" I said "no I'm going to be sick now." I threw up multiple times and it ruined my weekend being sick since. Just a warning to others with allergies , they do not care .

Yelp
Stella is an authentic Italian BYOB eatery in the heart of East Hanover, NJ that has amazing food. I have visited this establishment for lunch and dinner since its inauguration. I recommend the French Cut Veal Parmigiana which is tender, well seasoned, and yet not too gamy. It has just an amazing taste. If I had to rate this dish 1 out of 10 this dish would be easily a 10. Many desserts are freshly made in the restaurant like the Cannoli with pistachios and orange zest. It is one of the best desserts in the menu and probably one of the best cannoli in East Hanover, New Jersey. In terms of appetizers I recommend their classic calamari and the clam dish. They are second to none in freshness and taste. All the sandwiches I have tried at Stella are superb and taste delicious. They offer an amazing Italian espresso which is creamy, has bold flavors, and it is excellent after meals. Service at Stella is friendly. You are always quickly seated and welcomed with fresh cold house water and has several options for Italian mineral waters or sodas. They also sell bottled root beer. Crunch warm focaccia bread is served upon request with olive oil (traditionally Italian) or butter upon request. The servers are able to accommodate many dishes. Stella's ambiance is great since the plate is well lit during nights, offers indoor and outdoor seating during Summer and Fall, and offers good AC or heating. The indoor restaurant is spacious and the tables have enough room between them so you feel not only more private, but also this gives mobility to servers and customers. The place is absolutely clean and they take good care of the silverware. Finally, Stella has a side entrance where they cook the most amazing pizzas in East Hanover to stay or to go and they are always selling so their pizza is always freshly made. I have tried many of their pizzas and their dough, sauces, toppings, and flavors are to die for. The only cons of Stella are: no liquor sold (you need to bring your own wine or beer) and, although the place is spacious inside, it has limited parking spots. I normally park behind the restaurant if the best parking spots are already taken and normally they are because Stella attracts many customers which is a good sign of how well they are doing.

Yelp
Looking for a quick place to grab lunch. This place is located at the entrance of a shopping center. When you walk in there is a counter where you could pick up pizza and take out orders. We decided to sit down in their spacious restaurant. The decor is casual and comfortable. Service was good and quick. I ordered the salmon which was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. There's plenty of parking.

Yelp
We stopped in on a Friday, Jan. 31, late afternoon, and we ordered the cacio e pepe. All 3 of us thought it was better than what we even had in Italy! It was creamy, cheesy and black cracked pepper was just perfect. We got a grandma's rect. Pizza and it was fabulous! Very very great early dinner! Shout out to the chef who made the pasta! Dont change a thing!

Yelp
We were in the area and were hungry and found this place on Yelp so we said let's give it a try. They have outside seating we had our Dog with us the allow dogs outside. This place is a Hidden Gem. The staff was amazing very welcoming and friendly. Place is very clean and nice. It's casual. The food is great. The antipasto salad was delicious. The mussels were fresh and the sauce was very tasty. My wife got the clam pasta which she loved. I'm always Skeptical about ordering a steak in an Italian Restaurant but I'm on keto so no pasta for me lol. But I will tell you the Bone in Ribeye was very good I would definitely get it again. The best I have had with out going to a good steak house blows long horn or outback out of the water was surprised. Great place and we'll be back when we're in the area

Yelp
Stella is a great addition to the area! Been there a few times now to eat and have done take out as well. The quality of the food is really great. Everything is fresh, everything has good flavor, everything is delicious. Take out was even so good too. The inside is warm and welcoming and staff have always been kind and helpful. They have outdoor seating too. Every time we go it's a good meal!

Mary-Ellen M.

Yelp
They make the best Cacio de Pepe !!!!! I order it every time I go even if I order something else just so I can bring it home. I also get it delivered! The calamari is perfect and tender. The filet tips appetizer is a meal in itself and so tasty & tender. The roasted beet salad is dressed perfectly. The lasagna fabulous and the rigatoni short rib ragu is spot on!! The desserts are great especially the cheese cake and cannoli. I have brought multiple friends and family there for lunch and dinners and have never been disappointed. This is a go to restaurant for me now. To be honest I have never had their pizza. But everything I have had has been top notch. A great spot for me in my town.

Yelp
Fab restaurant alert......this is delightful. Just happened to be driving by and then looked Stella up online. Menu looked delish so we booked a reservation. Darling place in Roseland. They have outdoor seating which was a lifesaver, as I recently had foot surgery and need extra room to sit. (Knee Scooter in tow). BYOB is always a good thing. Food was delicious and served pretty quickly after being seated. Service and management were all lovely and very accommodating to me in my temporary handicap moment. Prices are good for the amount of food you get. Go check this place out, can't say enough good things about Stella!

Yelp
Visually the restaurant is great. Very cute decor and a comfortable layout. We went for lunch on a Saturday and they were very quiet. Food is reasonably good. I personally felt the chips were horribly under seasoned and the sauce on the steak sandwich was just too sweet. But otherwise it looked and tasted good. Service has a lot to learn. We were not offered water when we were seated and my soda cup sat empty for quite a long time. Lots of staff walking around so it would have been nice if someone noticed.

Yelp
Consistently great food. Awesome ambiance and even better service. So glad this spot is in my area because we frequent it often! Can't go wrong with any of the pizzas or pastas. Reaalllyyy good desserts as well! Thanks stella!

Yelp
Came here for pizza and apps, plus it's a BYO and who doesn't like that. We had a square pizza w/pepperoni, rice balls, & salads. Everything was good, and I especially liked the pizza. It had a nice crispy crust, which I like. Also, the service was relatively ok. But they really try to get you out as quick as possible, hence the 3 stars. We were there on a Sunday afternoon, and the place wasn't crowded at all. In fact, besides us there was only 1 other table that was occupied. I don't think I'd dine in again, but I would do takeout pizza.

Gary B.

Yelp
In the past Stella's had a sausage broccoli rabe sandwich. Often I would order in the restaurant or for takeout. The sandwich was dropped from the menu. I personally asked the young man who is the owner and operator if he would have the sandwich made upon request. The answer was "no." I am positive the ingredients are in the kitchen. The answer, no, so I moved on to a fave pasta dish. (! Yesterday I called for takeout. placed the order for my fave pasta dish and ordered Meatball and Sauteed spinach. Something we have ordered in the restaurant before and for takeout. Each time Stella's placed the meatballs/sauce over the spinach. When ordered last night, whomever took the order stated we cannot do that. It comes separately. OK, cancel my order. Maybe I will come back, maybe not!!

Yelp
This is one of our favorite pizza, places to go and get different slices and then warm them at home. The service is extremely fast and the pizza is always delicious. One of my favorite slices has mushroom and either bacon or sausage - it is delicious. I have not eaten inside yet, but it looks like it must be nice. I'll definitely be coming back for more pizza.

Yelp
Their pizza was terrible. I ordered pizza at Stella, and asked it to be freshly baked by certain time of my pickup. I got absolutely lukewarm soggy pizza. The crust was so wet like it was literally submerged in water. Obviously, it was baked hour(s) before, if not earlier. I will not order from them again, not recommended.
google avatar

Christina R.

Yelp
Only went in for slices, but will most definitely be back to dine in! Their pizza was the perfect combination of crunch and fresh, delicious flavor.

Yelp
Love this place. The food is really good and the service was good. The octopus was fantastic

Yelp
Went early on Saturday evening. At least a dozen tables were open but was told they all have reservations within the next half hour. The "host" wasn't going to seat us but then relented when I pointed out how many open tables. He also didn't like it when I asked him to change out a very dirty wine glass. No apology. No acknowledgment. The waiter barely wanted to be there and seemed totally bored. Prices have gone up since the change in ownership. Dover sole and veal parm $42! Our food was good. My chicken parm had 3/4 plate of spaghetti and one cutlet. Hope they get better at tending to their clientele otherwise this restaurant will turn over again.

Julie F.

Yelp
I went to meet a friend here and thought the food was really great and the prices were reasonable. There are some different takes on some popular dishes and then you can get your traditional pizza and Italian dishes. I read other reviews and they had mentioned the service. My service could not have been better, I went on a weekday.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was good Food was ok - marginal Ambiance was loud, resembles a cafeteria atmosphere

Yelp
Are you to the East Hanover Roseland area and looking for an upscale place then I suggest going to Stella I've known the owner since 2006 of course back then he wasn't the owner when I met him. But he's a cool dude. His name is Giovanni Gio for short. This place has great food and definitely worth their prices. Stella is an Italian restaurant. You can get pizza at Stella too I suggest trying the penne vodka best penne vodka I ever had.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was okay, service okay. Nothing outstanding. Host was a bit rude, or just full of attitude! Not rushing back here.
google avatar

Yelp
Our new neighborhood go to place. Try the chopped salad, best I have ever had. The filet tips were phenomenal as well the tiramisu and bread pudding for dessert. This is also a pizzeria and we cannot wait to try that as well. Staff is professional and very attentive. The owner is onsite and for me that's a big plus. Check them out.

John D.

Yelp
I visited Stella this past Sunday (01/07/24) with my family. The atmosphere was great and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Their motto, "Italian Comfort Food", was spot on. The food was delicious and the portions were large. And don't forget to order desert! There was something for everyone on the menu. We are looking forward to our next Family Dinner at Stella in the very near future.

Mike J.

Yelp
Meatballs were not good. Too much seasoning and too much bread crumbs. The bread they use for hero sandwiches is way too hard. It's the crusty kind that is great for dipping in olive oil with small pieces...but for a sandwich, just too thick. Grilled chicken overcooked and dry. To be fair, the margarita pizza was very good...garlicky sauce was delicious. Overall, just not worth going back.

Peter P.

Yelp
After dining at Stella's numerous times. Last night's dinner turned bad when we asked our server for additional bread. Never have I ever been told additional bread is 0.75 cents a slice extra. Definitely not what I expected from a highly rated "comfort food restaurant "
google avatar

Mark A.

Yelp
Delicious prosciutto de Parma sandwich for lunch today! My first time back since it was Rezza. This sandwich was the perfect lunch!
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
Overall had a decent experience. The atmosphere definitely does not hit the mark. The tables are way too close together and the music they play overhead does not equal the vibe they're trying to go for. The food was just okay. The appetizers were fine but entrees were all lacking in some way, whether it be taste or texture. The service was also just okay, not impeccable but not terrible. The only reason I would maybe go back and try this place again is because the prices were reasonable enough to warrant a second chance.

Ken R.

Yelp
Service not great and food sub par. Many better places in the area. Keep driving past this place and go to blaze for a much better pizza.

Nini O.

Yelp
Where do I begin?! The food is absolutely delicious; from the appetizers to the desserts! Their homemade cavatelli and rigatoni short rib ragu is exceptional. The food is reasonably priced with more than generous portions...plenty to take home. The service is remarkable. The host, Mike, is welcoming and always smiling - makes you feel as if you are "home" The staff are attentive and warm. Stella's is a must!!!

Jody L.

Yelp
Food is decent enough. Been there a few times. Last visit, there were six of us with a hefty bill. We brought a birthday cake with us and it was cut into eight slices and brought out after dinner. By the way, although the restaurant had desserts, there were no birthday cake offerings. We were told there was a $2 charge, which seemed aggravating enough. Yet, when the bill came it was actually $16. This was more than the cost of the actual cake. When I spoke to the manager/owner he said that was the restaurant's policy and the charge was $2 per person. Never experienced anything like that before. It is usually an accommodation. He was very unapologetic and did not offer any consideration for this ridiculous charge. Although the food is adequate, I will NOT be a patron of this establishment. There are plenty of Italian restaurants to choose from around.

Michelle G.

Yelp
This is my 3rd time eating Stella's food. first was in restaurant and last 2 times were pizza order. First off, upon calling the restaurant to place a pizza order, they will only take the order over the phone if you plan on picking up your order, otherwise you have to order your pizza online through ChowNow. My one star review is regarding the delivery process as well as management at Stella and their unacceptable response to my complaint. I received a text message from ChowNow stating the delivery would soon be there about 10 minutes prior to the requested time. That time + came and went !! We kept looking outside waiting for a car to pull up with our 5 pizza pies. Then suddenly we noticed the pies sitting on the ground (on a cold February night)!! I checked my ring doorbell to find the delivery guy arrived 30 minutes prior to when we realized the pies were sitting outside and NEVER rang our bell. What kind of person would drop off food on the ground outside and not ring your doorbell??!! I called to speak with a supervisor at Stella's to complain about this. I first spoke with Manny who offered to give me ChowNow s customer service number to complain to them since he said, it's not their responsibility. then I asked to speak to a supervisor whom he says was Tom but a guy name Gio got on the phone instead. Gio offered the same lame answer that I can call ChowNow to complain. I cannot believe that Stella would not claim responsibility with a service they are using to deliver THEIR food. We spent over $100 on five pies which we had to reheat in the oven while our company had to wait to eat. Very disappointed in Stella's management which didn't even offer us anything other than a phone number to call ChowNow which I did not accept. There are plenty other great pizza places in town who will deliver their pies and not thru a 2nd/3rd party! Own up Stella and know who and how these delivery services are representing your face. PS: I also will never add a tip to any of these delivery services, if I ever HAVE to use again elsewhere, since this POS delivery guy got his tip but clearly did not deserve one.

Christopher C.

Yelp
The pizza is Fantastic, aside from that, everything else that I've eaten there is Very Good. The service is on top of there game. Go and try it for yourself. I think you might agree.

Richard W.

Yelp
We'll designed dishes and superb pizza and pastas. Friendly, relaxed service and atmosphere. Need a reservation weekend evenings.

Manuel J.

Yelp
The Uncle Sonny pie is the best pie ive ever had. Their meats are also very tasty. Roseland really needed a place like this. Makes sense they were nominated for best new restaurant in Essex County
