The Giant Eater Map of New York City Slices

"Founded in 1997, this Chelsea mainstay seems far older. The regular slice is especially tomatoey and slightly salty, best enjoyed as part of the lunch special (two slices and a can of soda). On the other hand, then you’d miss the dense white broccoli slice, which features cloudy masses of ricotta and mozzarella. Seating is limited to a gleaming metal counter and are those Roy Lichtenstein prints on the walls? He once lived nearby." - Robert Sietsema

Google
Don't come in at 8:30am looking for the breakfast special if they didn't feel like making hash browns. They'll let you pay then act surprised and tell you to "take large coffee [instead], no problem". At least the sandwich was hot and greasy.

Their service depends on people who are taking the order. Some guys are cool, some are rude. There are lot of items and it's 24 hour shop but not all items are tasty. Fried Pizzas are average. Pros- 24 hour available. There is a cute outdoor space to eat. Neat and clean. Cons- Hard to find parking on weekends.only few are tasty items

Google
Small pizzeria and sandwich shop. Very friendly staff and good service. We ordered a turkey club wrap and mushroom pizza slice. Everything was delicious. Back in town for another cruise and had both lunch and dinner here. Our favorite place with good food and fast friendly service.

Google
Fast service and very efficient. It was packed at 2am and some of the slices we ordered were not warmed up all the way. Overpriced for a slice to be honest but for one of the only spots open really late, it did the job.

Google
A nice pizza joint located on Grove street. We had the buffalo chicken pizza and the veggie lover pizza. The buffalo chicken was very good but the veggie lover was pretty ordinary. The restaurant is recently renovated and has a decent spread of sides available. You can also take pizza by the slice as well as the whole pie. The restaurant offers indoor as well as outdoor seating.

We are new to the area, coming from New York, and have already found our new pizza spot. We were blown away by the slice here. Then we bought a pie the next day. Loved it and will return frequently!

Google
Well their pizza always suck especially compared to other 2 near them (Basil’s & Brooklyn Pizzeria) I ordered a gyro which I first moved here years ago they made consistently good. After the last 3x I have to say it doesn’t taste as well and the last time I feel it could have been cooked longer. I did discover a new gyro place on the same block as barcade (blue and white store front I forget the name) atmosphere seems like it’s more of hangout spot now ( always the same characters that hang on the corner when I go esp in the evening) so I stop sitting and eating but now I feel it’s not even worth to many other places , just as good or better prices, more greeting atmosphere and take pride and quality in their food prep. I’m only even writing because after 3x idk if I’m alone and yes I kept giving them chances but you got 3x to mess up my food the first time I take into consideration all the times you got it right, the 3rd mess I feel it’s a pattern and you don’t care. I was offered for them to make another sandwich once I showed them how raw the gyro meat looked but I declined didn’t even wanna refund I was disappointed.

Google
Amazing pizza any time of the day, fast service, concerned and caring staff and convenience! We need more 24 hour eateries in Jersey City but this one by far hits the spot tipsy or sober you will leave full and happy.

Yelp
We grabbed a late (early?) bite here. The place is 24 hours and some unfortunate events in our apartment led us to take advantage of the inconvenience. The staff here is pretty friendly. The restaurant is cozy and welcoming. There is an array of food offered through a kiosk, but you can order pizza from the guy directly. The pizza itself was pretty good. The crust had a great taste. The supreme had good number of toppings and the cheese was made just right. I'm definitely looking to come back here again.

Yelp
Wait, wait, wait... YOU GUYS. I have moved to south jersey for the past 2 years and have been searching for good pizza. It got to the point where I thought I had outgrown my love for pizza. And then yesterday around 1am I pop in here and decide on the garlic knots and margarita slices. I first tried the knots, meh. But the marinara they provided was unexpectedly delicious. THEN I TAKE ONE BITE OF THE MARG AND I STG I WAS TRANSPORTED TO A HAPPY PLACE I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT. Why am I living in South Jersey??? Why have I abandoned my roots??? I can't move back, but I must. This pizza is fr on rubirosa level. Anyway, long story short the pizza is perfection. Marinara is fire and the crust is crispy and just what you want. There is a God. (I'm being so dramatic lmao but it really was delicious.) Also the ppl were nice.

Yelp
Strategically located at the heart of downtown Jersey City, where all the action happens, and this place is open 24 hours. Placed a pick-up for a large pizza and got it ready in 15 mins. The ambience was good and crowded on Friday. Have a lot of tables and they let dine-in. I got the Grandmas pizza - Mozarella, Romano and Basil. I would want to try the other pizzas before completely gauging this place since the Grandma pizza was a little tangier than expected. The large pizza costed $30 and they do have slices of them too. They were kind enough to pack chilli flakes with my order.
google avatar

Chithra V.

Yelp
Last Friday, we ordered a cheese pizza with a marinara base from Stella's Pizza, and while the slices were generously sized and satisfying, there were some disappointments. The portions were indeed large, providing enough for multiple meals, which is always a plus. However, the pizza was noticeably too salty, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the meal.

Yelp
My personal pick for best NY style slice in downtown JC. The slices are massive, and deliciously cheesy & thin.
google avatar

Kelsey B.

Yelp
Lived in JC and this is THE SPOT for your true NY slice. I prefer it over our beloved Manhattan Joes and Bleekers and Rubirosas. I always get extra cheese and pepperoni and it's just so freaking good. The cheese is so ooey gooey it's sooooo hot and fresh and it's warm and saucy with this perfectly soft yet supportive crust and it's just an experience. It's true NY style, it's a locally known gem, and it's exactly what it tries to be- no frills, full taste. We are coming back to visit the area and are going out of our way for a hot pie!!!

Melle C.

Yelp
Great food! Classic NY style pizza. The staff treat you like family! Quick and easy - get a whole pie comes out hot and ready in 10ish min!
google avatar

Yelp
Rude rude rude. Coffee was cheap enough but man i just sat down drinking my coffee and one of the guys tried to kick me out because he was cleaning. Dont bother going in there and get ur coffee at dunkins across the street or starbucks a block away. Pay more but get better service.

Georgana S.

Yelp
I'm surprised to see a low rating of 3.1. I mostly come here after a long night out or whilst under the influence. I have been here sober, so I can vouch for this place. Whether it be a chicken cutlet sandwich, or slice, everything tastes fresh. The dough is incredibly chewy. The staff is eager to help, sometimes yes, overwhelming but, well intentioned. They have a bathroom and seating.
google avatar

Daniel L.

Yelp
I ordered the 10 piece chicken wings for delivery, but there were only 9 pieces in box. But the 9th piece was the size of my thumb, so technically only 8 pieces. The chicken though tasted good and were crispy.
google avatar

Desiree D.

Yelp
open 24/7! ziti pizza is the best here! sicilian is nice, but they seem to over cook it. chicken n mozz rolls are pretty good. staff works quick. a few tables/booths, they fill up quickly late night but its a quick turn around in here.
google avatar

Hank R.

Yelp
I was here December 10th 2019 around 6:00 a.m. and figured I'd try a slice. Well, it was worth it. Good pizza for 6:00 in the morning. Pleasant staff. Warm welcoming and hospitable. Nothing to write home about but not terrible or bad either. Plain ole run of the mill pizza to fill that void when it calls. I'd drop by again at a normal hour the next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

Julia G.

Yelp
Nice variety of large slices to choose from. Always a quick trip in and out with great service!
google avatar

Yelp
Pizza is always solid and they're 24/7 so that always helps out Will always get pizza here especially in This area
google avatar

Ashley Q.

Yelp
My go to pizza spot in JC! 24 hours and they always have a great variety of fresh hot pizzas. The staff is super friendly as well and can whip up classic deli sandwiches, salads, and Italian dishes while you wait. On a few occasions, I have gone here multiple times in the same day. My personal recommendations: Pizza: white pizza (the best I've ever had), bbq chicken, and lasagna slices Rolls: chicken or spinach Sandwiches: chicken cutlet and chicken parm This is a great place to go for a quick meal or a late night snack. Don't miss it if you are in the Grove St area!
google avatar

Tony J.

Yelp
I ordered a BBQ chicken pizza, and it was pretty decent overall. The chicken meat was fresh and the BBQ sauce was tangy and flavorful. There was a little too much bread in the crust especially around the edges, but it was otherwise fine. 3.5 stars

Romulo A P.

Yelp
They shouldn't even get one star.... Went there at midnight and got two slices. Next day I was in the bathroom with running water coming out of my you know what..... was sick for 5 days and dehydrated to the point that I couldn't even sit anymore..... they make 5-6 pies at once and leave them there....... Until some fool like me purchases them..... I lost 10 lbs that was the good part but it almost killed me in the process. If you want to lose weight, go there but you're risking your health...... I will never ever go there again !! My last message was deleted from here.... So I'm writing again to warn my fellow Americans..... Let's make Pizza great again !! Don't go there, order dominoes!!
google avatar

Yelp
Classic NY style pizza spot. I ordered a large half cheese half pepperoni for me and the band. The cheese half was beautifully seasoned and the pepperoni was nice and crisp but not dry. For those of you who are ordering lasagna and all this extra stuff, that's silly. A spot like this you get a good ole down home slice or pie. And the service was quick! Very good Stella's, you are good in my book.
google avatar

Ocean P.

Yelp
Horrible food. Not even on a drunk night would I eat this again. Spent over $100 on garbage. Lasagna texture is weird and no taste. Wings super salty. Antipasto is just cold cuts packed tightly onto mix green it looks like gas station salads. Blue cheese Dressing packets were hot like it was out of an oven. Very unsafe to eat dairy products at that temperature. 2 liter soda arrived hot. IT was not chilled at all. So we also didn't have drinks because it is impossible to drink hot soda. The pizza topping's were scrambled and shifted to one side of the pie exposing the bottom of the pie crust. It was extremely greasy and the cheese is gummy chewy. Pizza was not cut all red way. The crust tasted like stale dough. I'm not sure where they got any 5 start reviews. Highly disappointed will not order again and absolutely do not recommend. There's nothing Italian about this place at all. My stomach tells me I'm going to be ill soon....

Yelp
Got a pepperoni pizza with ricotta, absolutely delicious, and excellent service as well!

Caitlin G.

Yelp
Brought the wrong order home, ordered pepperoni came home with olive pizza. Don't eat olive pizza.
google avatar

Jon M.

Yelp
5 stars just for being 24 hours providing the same service day or night. Food ain't bad and they've got selection.
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
Definitely good drunk 2AM pizza. Absolutely no complaints. Plenty of options for slices and friendly staff.
google avatar

Eric K.

Yelp
Solid neighborhood quintessential delivery pizzeria. Order their 3 topping pizza (sausage, pepper and ?) - always satisfying! It does not get better than this for football game watches, late night netflix chills, and just jolly good chats with buddies over beer. I've found their crust very crispy without being too doughy and toppings generous and tasty. Delivery is very prompt as well. Keep on spinnin'!
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
Any place that's 24 hours already receives an automatic high rating from me because I eat dinner pretty late as it is. They have a lot of variety of toppings to choose from. I ordered a mushroom broccoli slice for $4.30, which I have no complaints about because the portion sizes of the slices are actually pretty big. They asked me if I wanted my slice warm or hot, which was a shock to me because I actually don't like when pizza is hot and the cheese gets runny. The dough was really good, too.

Yelp
*** AHH LATE NIGHT COMFORT FOOD CRAVINGS*** DELI MEETS PIZZERIA IN DTJ, 24/7 OPEN= HEAVEN SENT. TY STELLAS ! :)) EXPERIENCE *=*=*=*=*=*= 2 am on a wed night....my bf and I found our selves at Stellas. No place in the heights is open this late. We ordered 4 cheese pizza slices. Portions were good and filling. The dough was good to me! I love pizza and I'm telling you it hit the spot. Might not be the best pizza I ever had but it was more than good enough. Stellas should be given more credit for simple being open 24/7, and serving just about every and anything u could want. I would come back again. AMBIANCE *=*=*=*=*=* Stellas was pretty clean, Good lighting, Decent seating area. Yes, a Few drunk people but nothing crazy. Everyone is just trying to get their grub on! Just eat ur food and mind ya business ;) SERVICE *=*=*=*=*= Friendly. Order taken right away. PARKING *=*=**=*=*= We parked on the pump. So yea parking sucks around there. Metered parking if you find any.

Julissa B.

Yelp
Bought a chicken cutlet sandwich and a plain slice of pizza less than an hour ago. As I took a bite from the plain slice, once I got home I felt something hard. I looked down and legit bit into metal!!! Like wtf. How does this piece of metal end up in a pizza slice. I've come here randomly throughout the years so I can't really complain about their quality till NOW!!! A piece of metal in your food?! I could have cracked a damn tooth.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Breakfast, lunch, dinner...you name it. 24/7. Yup. 365...end of days type ****. Walgreens type ****. 7-Eleven type ****. Whenever I bring my friends here, they are never disappointed. BBQ chicken slice is awesome, the beef patties are awesome...everything is awesome. You can't lego of the food once it's in ya mouth. Believe dat. I used to think the only thing open late for food was the Fried Chicken spot on Newark Ave...you see all these Hoboken yuppies there at like 2 AM....but damn, just a few blocks south east...Stella was waiting.
google avatar

Mark T.

Yelp
It's ironic how the best New York pizza I've ever had is in Jersey! The gentlemen behind the counter here are not only professional in there's of their service, but are willing to create any pie you desire. Whether by the slice or a whole pie, the prices are just a delicious as the food. You'll love this! Come through.
google avatar

Yelp
So Stella's may not be the best pizza in JC or even the neighborhood but that shouldn't stop you from trying them at least once. We order pizza fairly regularly and Stella's is typically our go-to. Why? They are consistently good and will even surprise you from time to time by delivering sooner than they say. I recently visited Stella's for the first time. It was late. We were heading home from Brooklyn and it was 3am. We thought that no one in JC would be open let alone serve food, but what's this? Stella's is open 24 hours?! That's right and boy will you see some characters here in the middle of the night. I ordered online and paid via credit card. There was some confusion when I came to pick up as they tried to charge me again. Needless to say, we got it worked out. Late night, take out, pizza for lunch, dinner and even breakfast...They are here for you in your time of need.

L G.

Yelp
1. They overcharged me by several dollars, and then when called on it started doing some double-talk BS about pizza size (I still don't understand what they were trying to say/dp); 2. Disgusting pizza. Thick, doughy, undercooked mess. I guess proximity to PATH keeps them in business.
google avatar

Depeka S.

Yelp
Pizza craving at 3am was satisfied by this place. Had a margherita pizza from Stella's and it was really nice. It wasn't baked the regular way but it was still really tasty. The base along was mozzarella was baked first and the sauce+ basil was added as topping in the box while the pizza was still hot.
google avatar

Wayne G.

Yelp
Amazing how bad the plain slices are ! It's like eating a toasted cheese sandwich with some store brand tomato sauce -only saving feature is that they must make the pizzas ahead of time and put the slices on the oven so it gets that crisp on the bottom. Only way I can see people like it is the convenience of being open 24 hrs One of the few times I didn't finish a slice -didn't have a barf bag handy -
google avatar

Diogenes M.

Yelp
This is my go-to NY style pizza delivery spot in Downtown JC. It just tastes like pizza from the regular pizza place I had growing up in NY, if you know what I mean. The dough rates right, the sauce tastes right, the cheese tastes right. I usually get a large cheese pie and it's usually delivered within 30 minutes, so they are pretty fast. I would rate them higher but every once in a while the pie isn't completely cut and I have to cut it myself with a knife or they cut it before the cheese settles while it was still very hot and it arrives a little bit of a mess. I guess this is why they are so fast. I would rather they delivered it slower and took their time a little bit more so that it would be more consistent on that. If I want something a little more fancy I get rustique, but when I want some comfort pizza this is where I go.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
They make some pretty good pizza here. My favorite is the Lasagna pizza. The Buffalo pizza is good too. Best thing is they are open 24 hours! I
google avatar

Sophia C.

Yelp
I always saw this pizzeria while walking to and from grove st path but never stopped by before....I wish I did earlier!! This showed up as one of the places still open n delivering during these weird covid times and we decided to try it out. Ordered the don pizza (pepperoni, sausage, salami, roasted red peppers, mozz) and it was amaaaaazing. The crust is a little thicker than a ny style pizza but the bread is really tasty and the bottom still had a nice crisp to it so would recommend for folks to try even if you're an avid ny style thin crust person.
google avatar

Justin S.

Yelp
Average pizza Terrible service. Dirty restaurant There are many better places to get pizza from. Don't order from here.
google avatar

Christine B.

Yelp
I grew up going to Stella's as a kid and was happy to see the spot is still around. They're in an extremely convenient location (across the Grove St path and bus stops). I was feeling a bit nostalgic and wanted to drop by while passing through to drop off Xmas gifts to some folks. There's a sign about masks right at the front door. There are quite a few booths kind of all squeezed in which , pre covid, would've been filled with a few customers. The menu has definitely expanded beyond pizza but I just stuck to pizza. 1 Hawaiian slice for me --- one noticeable diff is the dough and crust is SUPER light. It was crispy where it needed to be but had a decent chew. It def wasn't the greasy slices I remember where you had to dab some oil from the top or had oil dropping when you folded it hahaha. In any case, stilll delicious! Not sure if this spot is still under the original owners? Curious though!
google avatar

Horatio B.

Yelp
Standard spot to come when drunk and experiencing serious drunchies. Open 24/7 and serves as an oasis to anyone on their way home from a long night out. Located around the corner from all the bars that just did last call. Taxi station is right across the street. You can conveniently load up on carbs in a vain attempt of avoiding a hangover right before heading home. Can get predictably rowdy with the influx of bar patrons during the early morning hours.
google avatar

Janel L.

Yelp
After a night out in Jersey City, Stella's is a decent place to carb yourself up. I don't think their pizza is anything too special, but it does the job. A friend of mine had ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch, and the slice was SMOTHERED in ranch (in a way, moreso a ranch slice with some light meats). I, myself, ordered a sicilian slice which I found too dry. The pizza here is definitely nothing too great, but if you're looking for something to fill the stomach, Stella's is the favored pizza place in the immediate area. Tip: Just go to the McDonald's down the block.
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
I ordered a Lasagna slice on UberEats (beef and ricotta) and it was $15 total-fine. (I didn't want to order a whole pizza because I'm on a diet.) The slice that arrived was a cold awful cheese pizza slice Stellas clearly didn't even bother to heat up. No beef, no ricotta. Unacceptable waste of money to get an incorrect order that isn't even hot. Don't order their delivery.
google avatar

Bekah D.

Yelp
GET THE CANNOLI! This cannoli was by far the best I have ever had. The pizza was yummy too, but this five stars is solely for the cannoli.
google avatar

Dairon M.

Yelp
The grandma slice is the only thing decent in this place. Other than that, the beef patty was trash and the pizza never comes out warm or hot like it should. This place is also extremely over priced. I understand it's in downtown, so the price should be high, but they need to have some expectations. I won't be coming back here again. Rather go to bistro or two boots around the corner. Hell, I rather eat digiorno.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Second time the delivery from this restaurant was deleted to the wrong address and food quality was just okay. Much different experience than dining in at Stella's.
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
I like that Stella's exists. It's an OK option to have. Do I want to spend any additional time there? NO. Had a baked ziti slice here and it was decent - what I expected, pretty much. Good sauce, cheesy, robust. Also, heavy, overwhelming but such is the nature of pasta pizza - it's a rather dicey endeavor - you're basically peddling carbicide. Service was very friendly and accommodating - the guy sold us the individual slices although their menu said pie only. I really hated the atmosphere. Cramped, dreary, bleak. Surrounded by uninspired faces waiting for their slices. It was also very hot. I legitimately began to feel depressed while waiting for my pizza. Stella's is fantastic for: drunk pizza since it's....OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY. FIREWORKS! That's a community institution right there. It's cool for take-out too. And they sell CIGARETTES (24 hour access to nicotine) so if that's your thing, you'll love it too.

Pay T.

Yelp
Mediocre food, and disingenuous staff. Ordered delivery from this place and instead of calling and saying items were unavailable or refunding us they just sent the wrong items. Then when told of the issue, they advised a refund of the unavailable items would be provided. Days later no refund and three followups made. The food provided tasted stale and was basically bottled marinara sauce.
google avatar

Sheldon S.

Yelp
Currently crying a river Cause this restaurants such a fibber, Do yourself a favor Don't order here cause they'll never deliver

JC H.

Yelp
Every time I go here, I immediately wonder why I did. The pizza is not even good. The staff are incredibly rude to me and I am usually ignored despite being what I think is polite. Tonight was no exception while they did almost everything they could think of except take my order, make my order and ring me up. If the deli I was trying to go to was not closed, I would have left. Luckily one of the staff helped me pay after I was there waiting lIke a fool to pay. Should have left. So: if you want bad pizza and terrible service, this spot is for you. If you don't fancy being treated like crap and eating crap food, I suggest trying literally anywhere else.
google avatar

Renee G.

Yelp
Used to go to A1 Deli across the street but was so sad when we heard they closed down until my friends and I found out that they reopened at Stella in the past year. This review is just for the sandwiches, but they are sooo delicious after a long night of bar hopping downtown! My go-to is a chicken cutlet sandwich with bacon & gouda. Game over, you're welcome! They're quick, friendly and are open 24/7!
