"As the Hollingsworth neighborhood continues to expand, Stella’s remains a mainstay at brunch, now with chef James King in the kitchen. The patio is a pretty place for a group, and there’s private dining too. Some nice additions to the brunch menu include French onion soup, a shaved vegetable salad, and apple butter toast topped with lemon and mint. Look for sugar-cured bacon and maple sage sausage too. Multiple bloody mary variations are available, and a notable tart cherry mimosa." - Stephanie Burnette

Quite literally some of the best tasting food my wife and I have ever eaten at a restaurant. I had the steak frites. It was cooked to perfection, perfectly seasoned to draw out the natural flavor in the steak and tasted amazing. We had crab cakes for appetizers and they were you die for, with plenty of crab rather than fillers you find in most restaurants. The berry cobbler made the perfect dessert to cap off the meal. The menu prices are higher than what my wife and I normally go for but this is the first time at an expensive dinner that I've ever felt the level of food quality and flavor was worth the higher costs.

I’d been here before on New Year’s Eve and loved my meal. I was disappointed with my experience this time. I ordered the lemon ricotta tagliatelle and added on salmon. The menu description lists it as having arugula and it did not. There were way too many peas and they overtook the dish. The crispy pancetta is just one disc on top, it could have used more throughout to add much needed salt. I’m not usually one that salts my food at restaurants but this needed it. The salmon was cooked properly but needed some type of flavoring. For just my meal, no drinks, no dessert- it was $50. I had been living in Eastern Tennessee and a favorite restaurant there with higher end food, similar types of portions— a beautiful sockeye salmon with veggies and quinoa couscous was $28. This pasta, regardless of local ingredients, was not worth $50. Last time, I had the crab cake appetizer and a side of Mac and cheese. I was much more satisfied with that meal. Service was friendly and I was checked on often. I love the vibe and decor of this restaurant. I’d like to go again because I did really enjoy my first visit.

My boyfriend was in Greenville on a business trip, and like any good long-distance food fairy, I helped scout his dinner plans from Minnesota. He sent me a list of spots near his hotel, and I locked onto Stella’s Brasserie like a culinary missile. He hesitated at first—Stella’s is a little bougie, a little upscale—but I told him, “If you want southern heart on a plate, get the Shrimp & Grits.” He trusted the process. A few minutes later, I got a patio pic of the dish in all its glory—creamy pimento cheese grits, smoky bacon, basil, shrimp broth, the works. He took one bite and messaged me: “I love this!” Then immediately followed it with: “You should make grits like this.” The man doesn’t usually say much, so that’s basically a full review and a marriage proposal in his language. Friendly staff, fast service, and a cozy patio setting made the whole experience smooth. If you don’t mind slightly higher prices for seriously elevated Southern food, Stella’s is worth every forkful. I wasn’t even there, and I’d still recommend it.

The food here never disappoints. We brought friends from out of town here for brunch and they loved it. The fried green tomato BLT was delicious. Definitely recommend that!

Google
Amazing food and excellent service! We love Stella’s and will definitely be back!

Had a wonderful experience for lunch the other day. Nice wine selection, French onion soup was super, seafood chowder was really good too. We had the wedge, crab cakes and the chocolate torte w/ ice cream. All were very good, beautiful presentations too. Our only disappointment was the lump crab cakes were no longer lumpy, crab was over worked and didn't have any yummy lumps left. And be warned the chocolate torte is extremely chocolatey, it literally requires the vanilla ice cream to finish!

Google
Love the location of this restaurant. Right across the street from a park, in a beautiful neighborhood, and near Chestnut Coffee. The food was delicious. We ordered the strawberry salad and the steak frites. The truffle fries were great and the steak was cooked perfectly. The salad was nice and fresh. They have a great drink selection, even some nice mocktails. Small dessert menu for lunch, but yummy. The flourless torte is decadent and worth it.

Google
Had a great meal. Shrimp and grits for me (gluten free). My dining partners had strict vegetarian requirements and the waitstaff went above and beyond to make changes to accommodate expanding their vegetarian options. Special mention to Dave!

Yelp
We had to be in Simpsonville for an appointment and the best part of the day, was brunch at Stella's. Menu items are limited, but locally sourced. I wasn't impressed with the house chips. I would choose an alternate side. Not pictured is the shrimp and grits . The grits were the best I've ever tasted. No complaints at all.

Evie M.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. I was left very underwhelmed. The menu was scarce and the food was average. The service was absolutely perfect and it is a very cute restaurant with a great outdoor seating area. I would like to try the Simpsonville location in hopes that they have the full menu shown in other reviews.

Marita S.

Yelp
Kimberly was our wonderful server for dinner tonight. She was so warm, professional and friendly !! The mussels in coconut curry were delicious. I didn't care much for the French Onion Soup. It was too oily for some reason. Overall Very nice lively restaurant with a lovely interior. Excellent service!!!

Yelp
We loved Stella's southern bistro so we thought we'd might as well check out the brasserie... It was good, but, I'd go back to Stella's bistro before I came back here. It was Valentine's Day and obviously they were packed, service was still very quick and attentive. Our appetizers were definitely the star of the show. Cocktails were tasty. I had the seared cured duck, I definitely like rare meat... but it was honestly too rare for me. It was so hard to cut through even with a steak knife. I didn't say anything or send it back, so that's totally on me. I did take it home and gave it to my dog, he loved it.

Luisa H.

Yelp
Date night with my husband. We started with cocktails, a manhattan which was delicious and I ordered the sangria mulled wine. It didn't taste like either. It wasn't served warm as I expected. Didn't taste good. We got the onion soup & mussels for appetizers. Both had good flavor and we enjoyed them. Our main courses were steak frites & shrimp/grits.unfortunately, the steak was a bit overcooked and the shrimp & grits had no flavor. It was disappointing. The servers were very attentive.

Madison M.

Yelp
Great for brunch! Love the ambience as well. Shrimp and grits are always on point. I feel the last few times we've gone our dishes weren't quite as good as they used to be when the place first opened. But maybe was just off-day.

Heather K.

Yelp
We ate brunch at Stella's this morning. The service was fantastic and the food was so good I called back to inquire about future reservations. The restaurant was beautiful. We sat at the bar and I had the peach cobbler French toast and coffee and my husband had the shrimp and grits with a Bloody Mary. The Bartender talked us into trying the carrot cake crème brûlée which did not disappoint-it's a must try before the menu changes again. There wasn't a crumb left on any plate! My husband kept stealing bites of my French toast after he ate every bite of his shrimp and grits (all while telling me how full he was). The manager was attentive and friendly and the bartender was a great salesman. LOL. Thank you for a memorable meal. We will be back!

John W.

Yelp
Went for Father's Day. The menu was limited to way overpriced brunch. The food mediocre. I made the wrong choice of restaurants today.

Leyla M.

Yelp
Stella's is a more upscale restaurant/coffee shop. their decor is very nice! All of the staff was attentive and friendly. The bartender made me The Name Changer - Up as a mixed drink and it was delicious! I absolutely looooved their beef carpaccio. It had amazing flavor and was presented nicely. Everything complimented each other in the dish. I was very impressed and had high hopes for the entrée. I tried their signature shrimp and grits and have to say that I was more than a little disappointed. The flavors were decent but they just didn't come together. My waiter noticed and offered to get me another dish but I declined. I want to give this place another chance but if their signature dish doesn't stand up to its name... it's hard to justify.

Sav T.

Yelp
Came here on a work event and could not have been happier with the selection. The focaccia was good to help with the hunger pains of a skipped lunch. But it was the shrimp and grits. Not some runny mess of slop but actually a well balanced mix of good bacon, pimento grits, great red tomato sauce and of course delicious perfect shrimp. Will be back.

Jacob M.

Yelp
Stella's is a great farm to table restaurant. They're probably best known for their brunch, but all of their food is good. Their specials are a fun way to experience their culinary creativity, so check those out before you get your heart set on something on their standard menu. Their mixed drinks are also very good, and they typically have one that pairs well with every item on their menu. The ambiance is upscale and pleasant, fitting the vibe of Greenville. Outside seating is nice when it's warm, with a view of the park. Good food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. Definitely recommended!

Lori L.

Yelp
I came here for dinner with a friend. We did have reservations but since it was on a weekday they weren't busy at all. We got sat right away at a corner table by a window. They have a great selection of food. The burger was calling my name. I did ask for onions on the burger and the server flat out told me no. I was surprised since they have onions on the menu so I wasn't sure what the big deal was. The burger was cooked really good and it was huge. The fries were good. My friend got the flounder special and she really liked it. I didn't taste it but the plating looked great. I didn't get dessert but my friend got one to go. The restaurant is really beautiful. I would love to come back and try something else.

Cheryl H.

Yelp
What great food! My husband enjoyed the pimento cheese spread and we both had the spicy delicious shrimp and grits. Just the right amount of spice, plenty of succulent shrimp. Service was friendly.

Christopher M.

Yelp
Surprisingly good. Usually "new" southern places don't get it right but this was enjoyable!

Eric H.

Yelp
This was a good restaurant although not as good as I was hoping. Don't get me wrong, the food is tasty. The dining room looks a little more like a hip coffee shop though, which I don't love. Our servers were fair although a little slow on refilling drinks. Of course, 90% of a restaurant review depends on food. I had short ribs, which were tender and tasty. No complaints. The mashed potatoes were really well seasoned too. I didn't love my green bean side though, kind of limp and bland. For dessert I had the (gf) chocolate cake, which was fair. Overall, this place is good, I'd go back, but it didn't blow me out of the water.

Brian R.

Yelp
Great service, food and atmosphere. Must try the house made tonic is amazing. Overall a good place for a bite with friends or a lunch meeting.

Nate F.

Yelp
Shrimp and grits are BEST I ever had! Service is great and friendly. Even when busy, manager made it a point to check on us. Great hidden gem!

Matt K.

Yelp
Very bland and unimaginative. This is where you bring your parent(s) the night before you take them to the old folks home. The home's food will seem seasoned after this. Brasserie Steak Frites - 8oz flat iron steak and pomme frites? Yeah right. That's not a flat iron and those aren't pomme frites. How do you know they're not pomme frites? Order a side of fries and you'll find out quickly. It's a good thing salt and pepper is on the table, cause they sure aren't using it in the kitchen. Service is excellent, but it doesn't help if the management doesn't care about food prep.

Amy P.

Yelp
Really great way to start off our day in South Carolina. The food was delicious and the staff was really friendly and approachable. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area and want a tasty meal.

Megan F.

Yelp
From the quaint atmosphere to the tasty food to the friendly staff, Stella's Southern Brasserie serves as a perfect place to go for some good ole Southern cooking. They offer a fantastic weekend brunch and the waitstaff provides excellent service. The bussers also work hard to keep the restaurant spotless. I highly recommend!

Jason H.

Yelp
Stella's Southern Brasserie is the perfect spot for a fancy brunch with a touch of southern charm. I was pleasantly surprised when my date and I were greeted with a glass of champagne - talk about a classy start to the day! The Traditional Breakfast was a true southern feast and I must say, the sharp cheddar grits were the real MVP. But let's be real, the true test of any brunch spot is their bacon (or in my case, turkey bacon). I have to say, the substitution was worth it, because the turkey bacon was crispy, juicy, and oh so delicious. I also have to give a shoutout to the Happy Cow Buttermilk biscuit - it was the perfect sponge for all that yummy southern gravy. All in all, Stella's is a must-visit for anyone looking for a posh brunch experience in Greenville's Verdae/Legacy Park area.

Laura M.

Yelp
Love the location of this place. In a neighborhood so it feels inviting yet a decent size menu. Big windows all around so its not very intimate. I think a great place for brunch, lunch or early dinner. Food was delicious and service was good. The bread for my mussels was toasted a little too much but I used the sauce in the mussels to soften it up and it was absolutely delicious. I had a reservation for a friday and it did start to get pretty busy after we were sat. Ill definitely be back.

C A.

Yelp
Cute vibe and excellent focaccia. Ordered the steak frites medium and the fries were over cooked and flavorless. Steak was medium rare so had to eat around the edges. Won't be in the top of my return to list.

Bethany A.

Yelp
Stella's is always a great place to go when you don't know what you want. My friend and I were having a hard time deciding where to go but once we got to Stella's as an option we both were happy. Their menu really has something for everyone. Whether you are looking for a craft style burger or a gourmet fish meal there's always a few great options on the menu.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Stella's in the Verdae community is consistently good. The atmosphere is quaint and inviting. You can be as dressed up or casual as you like. The food is on point. The Shrimp and Grits are my go to and never disappoint. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. This is a great place to go out to dinner without going downtown but you feel like you are dining in one of the upscale restaurants in Greenville. Love it here and can't wait for my next visit

Wendy G.

Yelp
We had shrimp and grits, steak frites and snapper. Everything was delicious. We also had the pimento with bacon jam appetizer and the crème brûlée dessert, which were excellent. The drinks were all fantastic as well. We were visiting Greenville this weekend, but would definitely come back. Service was also great and our booth was comfy

Kelly G.

Yelp
I enjoyed my experience here.. I'm a vegetarian and was able to eat. The food was good but the Only thing was that they didn't offer any egg whites so I wasn't able to have an omelette. I had a tart cherry mimosa that was divine! Staff was pleasant, I would return.

Whiskey S.

Yelp
The food was so so for the price. Mussels we over cooked and very small, not worth the money. The only thing really worth getting was the homemade Pimento cheese spread. Service good and friendly. Ambiance was not inviting and tables all too close to each other.

T A.

Yelp
Great server - personable and welcoming! For the first time here, the aesthetics were beautiful. The atmosphere was nice & quiet. The food though - lacked flavor. Drinks were OK. A good try, but maybe not a "go-to."

Renee W.

Yelp
Wow!!! Hidden little gem! Loved everything about Stella's! The food was delicious! I ordered the shrimp and grits, substituted chicken bc of shellfish allergy. Delicious! The ambiance is very co for table and welcoming! The staff was great! Thanx to Logan from CO! He was a great server! We will be heading back for dinner with the husbands! Can't wait!

Craig C.

Yelp
Good food , good service. Location is top notch. Great place to go if you are looking for something different than the normal as it's small and more quaint than most local restaurants. Hidden gem !!

Kristina B.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Cheese grits and bacon are beyond delish. Great deal.on kids' meals too. Prompt and courteous service but wait staff seems sad. No smiles at all - almost like they're instructed to be the Addam's Family. lol Again, prompt and courteous! So yummy.

Karen L.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't been here before... What a cute little gem! Full of charm and personality... The food selection was great - Saw several things I wanted to come back for - but very pleased with my salad. It was so delicious and flavorful that I didn't really even need the dressing! The service was exceptional and we even had the manager come check on us. I've heard good things about this place and I confirm that they are true! Definitely can't wait to go back and try more on the menu! (Plenty of outdoor seating with shade also!)

Angie W.

Yelp
Haven't tried yet to rate on it or to say how the food tastes so I can't speak on it or not

Teresa G.

Yelp
This was my first time eating there, but definitely not my last! The atmosphere was relaxed and the food was flavorful! My waitress was kind and made sure that my experience was a pleasant one. I have already given their information out to relatives who visit the area from time to time. I'm sure that they will love it too.

C E.

Yelp
Perfectly fine place; very good service, healthy food, nice atmosphere (new building), and near Woodruff Road/Laurens Road but fortunately in a nice, uncrowded area.

Stephanie E.

Yelp
Food and service was 5star! I love taking my mom to brunch so we decided to try brunch here! Atmosphere is beautiful and the perfect brunch feel! We decided against drinks today since I have to work later this afternoon but there were plenty of cocktails & wines to choose from! There were three of us and we got the quiche, shrimp & grits, and steak and eggs. I personally had the quiche bc I wanted something on the lighter side. It came with a salad and I feel like it was the perfect amount of food! I usually like a lighter lunch so I don't feel like I need a nap after from a food coma! Haha I also noticed they had a nice sized back room where someone was having a bridal party. They have doors that close so it is nice and private! I definitely recommend Stella's!

Anita S.

Yelp
We went for brunch and everything was delicious. Started with biscuits and jam. Went with friends who had the traditional breakfast. Cheesy grits and biscuits come with that order so don't order them as a side. The quiche changes everyday but mine was vegetarian and delicious. The omelette sandwich is as thick as it is wide so use 2 hands to eat it! The homemade tonic is awesome even without gin.

Lucy Z.

Yelp
We were passing through Greenville and needed to stop for dinner and stumbled upon Stella's on OpenTable. So glad we found this, the food was delicious and the service was impeccable, highly recommend! We tried a couple of dishes: 1. Salmon plate: the salmon was cooked perfectly, juicy and tender but with crispy skin. 2. The Power Bowl with seared shrimp: wow, this was an amazing dish of raw vegetables, ancient grains, hummus and a great vinaigrette. The shrimp was perfectly seasoned and cooked. 3. Duck: fall off the bone and extremely flavorful. Everything was absolutely delicious, it is difficult to say one dish was better than another. If there is an opening on OpenTable, definitely take up the chance to try this place. It is worth it!

Charles G.

Yelp
Really was expecting a great experience. Turned out different. Toughest steak I've ever had and my wife duck was overcooked. We often try new places. This was our first and last.

Ty R.

Yelp
Always good food, good service & great atmosphere. Great Sunday brunch. Great location

Linda C.

Yelp
Excellent service. Food good but costly for " breakfast" $53.00 with tax and tip. Only had strawberry jelly. What if you are allergic to strawberries? what restaurant does not have grape jelly? Way too many onions in the shrimp and grits. No substitutions or accommodations printed on the menu. I could smell only onion when the dish was set in front of me. Restaurant very noisy. We came, we ate and we left probably not come return.

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
Great food and mixed drinks. Patio is a fantastic stop for sun and relaxing. Shrimp and grits are amazing.

Kipahulu B.

Yelp
After searching for several restaurants that would offer outdoor seating (we are careful about COVID), we finally found Stella's and are so glad that we did. Nate was our server and recommended the shrimp and grits and the fish of the day, trout. Both turned out to be outstanding recommendations! We are so glad to have landed here and look forward to coming back!

Jessica S.

Yelp
Wow! Just wow! We stopped in on our way home to Chicago. If your in Greenville, Stella's is a must! We had the salmon with mushrooms and broccoli. Best I've ever had! The burger with mushrooms and bacon jam... Holy cow amazing!! Kale salad with goat cheese, fresh and fabulous! The chicken cream soup was outstanding! Our daughter lives in Greenville, so we will definitely be back!! Hats off to the chef! Unique and amazing!!

Rob D.

Yelp
Got there first thing Sunday morning as it filled up fast. They have nice outside seating but too hot still so ate inside. Inside was nice and open but not echo-y. ;) I had the ham and egg cheese sandwich which was very good. They also offer some luncheon items so good for a brunch. Service was attentive for all the people that were there.

Digna S.

Yelp
Great food, many choices of good Southern food. Make it a point to visit whenever I am in town. Never disappoints.

Keng L.

Yelp
Charming place in neighborhood commercial setting away from the strip malls. Great service. Super tasting cheesy grits on the traditional bfast. The biscuit was amazingly fluffy ,soft and buttery. Bacon was just ok. The chicken biscuit was ok. Huge biscuit.. intimidating when served. Fried in style of korean fried chicken with super crunchy batter.

Ashley A.

Yelp
I didn't take a lot of pictures because the food, drinks and service were incredible. Thanks to Austin for making my visit so lovely I enjoyed every dish that was brought to table as well as their spin on Gin and Tonic that takes 10 days to perfect Ask for Austin! He's knowledgeable and extremely friendly!

Michael S.

Yelp
Great food, great variety of upscale southern cooking, great staff prices a little high. tough parking
