I got to Stellina Pizzeria's Grand Opening at Tysons when they opened at 4:00pm to beat the crowd. I ordered the Napullela Pizza with anchovies, fresh garlic, black olives, and burrata cheese. It was my first time trying anchovies, and I loved it. The flavor combination of the anchovies, garlic, and olives was awesome. Plus, the first 50 customers got a free tiramisu, and it was a delicious way to end my meal.
Inside the restaurant, it was spacious with nice artwork and a relaxed, fun vibe. Outside seating was also available in a beautiful setting, and there was live music when I was there.
The only thing I was disappointed in was the hostess who greeted me at the door. I was excited to try Stellina's for the first time, and she kinda burst my bubble. She wasn't friendly and didn't smile, which surprised me because you don't expect that at a grand opening. She said they were only seating guests with reservations. When the couple in front of me and I told her that wasn't on anything we had read about the opening, she let us stay. (The restaurant was empty at 4:00pm, and there was still plenty of seating when I left.)
Then she kept insisting the tiramisu wasn't free for the first 50 customers. The couple in front of me and I told her we saw advertisements for a free tiramisu for the first 50 people, but she didn't budge on the issue. I let it go, because I was tired and hungry. But I was disappointed. (See the screenshot I took from Stellina's Instagram account when I got home. She was clearly wrong.)
Thankfully, the other staff who brought out my food, checked to see how I was doing, and took my payment were very sweet. I ordered the tiramisu anyway because it's my favorite, and the person who took my payment deducted the cost of the tiramisu without me even asking! She said it was free for the first 50 customers, and I was happy someone knew about the promotion.
Overall, it was a good experience, and I enjoyed the food. I still took off a star for this visit, though, because my first impression of Stellina Pizzeria was from my initial conversation with the hostess. First impressions matter.
