I tried their caviar for the first time at a local restaurant and was instantly hooked. I ordered the two tin can gift set. Even though there was issues with the order, they corrected it right away. Customer service is amazing. I would purchase from them again to eat their delicious caviar.

Most people's first time trying caviar is when they are too young to enjoy it and can't afford it. That was true for me. 20 years ago I tried true caviar for the first time and it wasn't for me. My tastes changed, my palate refined and my bank account matured. Just because you can afford it, even as a splurge doesn't mean you should be overpaying for it. Having chef friends who don't have investors I was introduced to Sterling pre merger with Tsar and after confirming California grown caviar was in fact on par with the worlds best and at a fraction of the cost I was hooked. I was regularly ordering about a kilo per year and decided to just become a Kilo Club member. I wasn't just using this as garnish for dishes as I'm a home cook who eats out alot too, but I was sharing with friends, introducing them and even eating it alone from the tin in my kitchen late at night, sometimes drunk, sometimes not. I'd get into them thru their sales they run when production is high (there is a maturing process once harvested). Communicaitons are quick, shipping is fast and I love their gel packs, i've got quite the supply that I used in my coolers for camping, picnics, etc. If they had rewards points I'd be in trouble collecting them. I was in the bay for business and I emailed them asking to see if I could visit and they obliged me a tour. It's a fascinating and expansive operation. The amount of dilligence they put into every detail the meticulous nature of the business is impressive. I can't wait for their Kilo Club meets. With the grading systems you'll often get great value going with their lower tiers (all are good, some are great). I've had Classic tins that were much closer to Royal and Supreme closer to Imperial. Classic I find to go good with seafood, Royal to be best eaten alone, Supreme to be best eaten on starches/pizza/uncommon dishes due to the earthiness and the Imperial only to celebrate as the creaminess is often lost on newbies. Having been there myself and seen the operation I'm confident reccomending them to anyone. It's true Provenance.

Everyone in our household is celebrating milestones this week, so we decided to have a caviar tasting for brunch today. We tasted five caviars and ranked them in order of how much we enjoyed them and how likely we are to reorder each kind. The two vendors we ordered from are Pearl Street Caviar and Sterling Caviar. They both delivered next-day air with cold packs in their packages and we were impressed by their packaging and attention to detail. Both included helpful information with their shipments and provided tracking numbers. The prices I've listed below are the full prices for each, but both vendors are running sales on their sites, so all of the caviars can be had at less than the full prices listed below. In 1st place: Sterling Caviar - Sterling Supreme - Cost for 30 grams $103.95 Blackest black Clean, great flavor Intense in just the right way Bursting eggs Better than Pearl’s Keluga at only 42 percent of the cost TLDR: If I could order only one caviar, this would be it. It's the best quality and flavor for your money. In 2nd place: Sterling Caviar - Sterling Royal- Cost for 30 grams $92.40 Black Clean, great flavor Bursting eggs Just slightly less intense than their Sterling Supreme, but wonderful TLDR: This is great caviar. It's a little less expensive than Sterling Supreme, and unless you compare them side-by-side, you won't think that anything could be slightly better because it's great. In 3rd place: Pearl Street Caviar - Keluga Supreme - Cost for 30 grams $242 Deepest green/brown Flavorful, like a clean tasting fresh fish oil Like the Ossetra Supreme, but more intense flavor For those looking for a bit more intense taste Fresh, bursting eggs TLDR: While it's truly wonderful, at 30 percent more expensive than Pearl's Ossetra Supreme, I might just order the Ossetra Supreme. It probably has 30 percent more intense flavor than the Ossetra Supreme though, so check it out to see what you think. In 4th place: Pearl Street Caviar - Ossetra Supreme - Cost for 30 grams $187 Deeper green/tan Clean, great flavor Milder than Keluga Supreme, but no less wonderful Fresh, bursting eggs Less salty than Sterling Caviar for those who like less salty caviar TLDR: Would love to have this again. When I'm craving caviar, this is what I'm looking for without breaking the bank. In a distant 5th place: Pearl Street Caviar - Alchemy Ossetra - Cost for 30 grams $167 Lightest green Mild Eggs don't burst, sticky Slightly muddy TLDR: Would not order again

Mixed luck. First order I placed with Sterling Caviar went smoothly and as expected. The second order I placed with them never shipped. I was finally told one of their locations had a power outage so no orders were shipped from that location. I was not informed of this on the day it was to be shipped, but after calling customer service twice on the day it was scheduled to be delivered. Summer was polite and friendly, the after the first call I was supposed to be sent a tracking number from the shipping department, but never received an email or contact. After calling again Summer called the shipping department directly and called me back with the unfortunate news. I appreciate Summer's help, but would have liked to have been notified that the order never shipped before I had to contact them on the delivery date. Would have saved me time and money getting the various accoutrements. I'm a little disappointed no future discount was offered, I enjoy Sterling Caviar but will be looking at other options before placing my next order.

Overall, an excellent experience for a first time taster. Live in a rural area and was concerned about shipping time but its packed for a 48 hour trip and arrived, much to my surprise, in 24 hours! The flavor is very hard to describe - not a lobster or scallop type flavor, nor as salty as an oyster - truly unique. Buttery, creamy with a 'hint of the ocean' as I've seen written is the best way to describe it. We also found that you can easily overpower the flavor by adding too many things with it. I suggest a fresh baguette slice, very small swipe of neutral (high quality) cream cheese and a half teaspoon of the caviar (tried Royal and Supreme - the latter being our favorite). Ensure you have a clean pallet - suggest water between bites if sampling different ones. Will be back again - not an everyday thing but most definitely for theme parties, special occasions. Oh and a good quality champagne is highly recommended!

I've had the opportunity to serve both the Sterling Royal and Sterling Supreme to my guests at my annual holiday party. Everyone raves about the quality and tasting experience they enjoy. Friends and family are always impressed when Sterling is on our table for those special occasions! I first found out about the company when my gracious client and friend Judy Padis gave me a 500g tin of it for Christmas one year when she heard I was throwing a party (I was floored). Recently, she was hosting an event where she was serving Sterling to a large guest list for our company event. I needed tasting notes for some promotional material and I was so grateful that Alan answered the phone and helped me write tasting notes for our guests as we were offering a variety of four caviars. Their customer service is outstanding and I'll be looking forward to the next opportunity to purchase Sterling Caviar and provide a high-end luxurious experience for my guests.

The quality of Sterling caviar is incredible. I recently hosted a holiday party and several friends commented on how delicious the caviar was and wanted to know where to purchase it. Secondly, I ran into problems getting the caviar on time due to a UPS problem (no fault on the part of Sterling) and the customer service from Sterling was impeccable. They immediately handled the problem and I had my caviar in time for my gathering. I’m now a lifetime customer. Thank you, Sterling Caviar!

My encounter with a Sterling Caviar representative at the 2023 Summer Fancy Food Show in NYC was unfortunately disappointing. Rather than the professional, courteous service I expected, I was met with an unsettling level of rudeness. This experience has not only tainted my view of the company, but also dissuaded me from considering their products in the future. I encourage Sterling Caviar to improve their customer interaction to match the quality expected from a premium brand.
