Counter-serve joint with saucy NYC-style pizza & Italian basics in tiny digs with graffitied booths.
"Steve's is our favorite classic pizza spot in Miami, and it all comes down to their sauce. It’s just the right amount of sweet—somewhere between caramelized tomatoes and sugary pasta sauce. The North Miami spot looks like it belongs across the street from a college campus. Led Zeppelin blares through the speakers, and you can barely see the dark wood under all the graffiti and etchings. Polaroids are tacked to the top of the kitchen window, where you can see them making huge slices with gooey cheese. We order ours with pepperoni. They curl into cups and add a spice that balances out the sweet sauce. " - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo

The North Miami spot looks like it belongs across the street from a college campus. Led Zeppelin blares through the speakers, and you can barely see the dark wood under all the graffiti and etchings. Old bumper stickers cling to the side of Steve’s small green booths, and polaroids are tacked to the top of the kitchen window, where you can see them making huge slices with gooey cheese. We order ours with pepperoni. They curl into cups and add a spice that balances out the sweet sauce. Steve’s has been around for over 50 years, and it’s easy to see why. "Steve is a very common name, but when talking about pizza in Miami, this is the one to know. Adorned with the graffiti artwork of all eaters, Steve’s serves true Brooklyn-style pizza, the type that barely fits on a plate and requires two hands to fold. Pro tip: Don’t shy away from its garlic roles." - Olee Fowler
"Open Until 2am Mon-Thu, 3am Fri-Sat, 1am Mon A lot of people grew up going to Steve’s and now happily return as adults at 2am, even though it’s quite far from the city’s nightlife hubs. This dark little spot in North Miami has an old Ms. Pac-Man game in the corner, polaroids of regulars by the register, and years of graffiti covering the little wooden booths. The pizza is closer to a New York-style slice (paper plates and all) but has a sweeter tomato sauce. And the pepperoni is the kind that forms those awesome little oil-collecting cups on the pizza, which is exactly what you want in the middle of the night." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"The closest thing to a mural at Steve’s is the random graffiti left by scribbling locals. The next-closest thing to a mural at Steve’s is pizza, which isn’t even close to a mural, which is exactly our point. This North Miami spot is a simple restaurant where locals come to sit down and eat good NY-style pizza, so come here to do the same if you need a break from conversations about the importance of establishing oneself as a “thought leader” on social media." - ryan pfeffer
