Hip American-Pan-Asian spot serving cocktails, sushi, noodles, sandwiches & buckets of tater tots.
"This punky, party-ready sushi dive turns stuffy dining on its head with a gong that rings with every order of a sake bomb, creative rolls with fillings like tempura-fried sweet potato, and buckets of tater tots. For those not into the super-fresh fish, the menu includes lots of vegan options." - Tierney Plumb, Eater Staff
"If you're looking for a sushi menu that caters to everyone's diets, vegans included, Sticky Rice on H St. is the place to be. And the best part is that you can walk right on in. The restaurant is larger than it appears, with a two-story layout and booth seating. It’s a mix of grungy and campy, thanks to a gong that awkwardly sits behind the bar, a spaceship painting on the wall, and lanterns. So many lanterns. But it all comes together to create a wonderfully ridiculous atmosphere. The menu has a wide selection for both the picky-eaters in your group (shoutout to the Sweet Jesus Bucket of Tots) and the more adventurous ones. We love the vegan tuna, which is so close to the real thing we still can’t believe it’s not. " - omnia saed
"What better way to show your love this Valentine’s Day than with a red heart-shaped box of sushi? This week, Sticky Rice artfully assembles bountiful boxes of raw fish featuring four rolls of choice. Tag #StickyRiceDC with your order for a chance to win a $100 Sticky Rice gift card. Available Monday, February 12 to Friday, February 16 for dine-in, pickup, or delivery." - Vinciane Ngomsi
"A solid dive bar is important to have in your date night rotation and Sticky Rice on H Street gives that grungy vibe without the sticky floors and questionable smells. Decorations like the huge gong behind the bar or the paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling add flair. Grab a high-back wooden booth if you’re looking for extra privacy, but like any good dive bar, no one is paying much attention to you. Also like most dive bars, the drinks are strong, but the food isn’t the best, so expect decent noodles and OK sushi. The Sweet Jesus bucket of tots is your best bet if you’re just looking to keep the two of you upright (or three, we don't judge) as you work your way through the drink menu. Try the pina colada sake, which is unexplainable, but worth every sip." - tristiana hinton, omnia saed
"You can walk-in to Sticky Rice, a sushi restaurant on H St. without a reservation and armed with surface level talking points. There’s so much to talk about here, there’s a gong sitting awkwardly behind the bar, a spaceship painting on the wall, and lanterns, so many lanterns. It all creates a wonderfully ridiculous atmosphere. The sushi is great, with rolls costing anywhere from $8-18. The menu also includes sweet potato tater tots (appropriately called the Sweet Jesus Bucket of Tots) that are a great snack to munch on when the conversation grows stale." - Omnia Saed
