Google
Certainly a cute place, plenty of windows for light, even on a cloudy day. Lots of maneuverable individual tables for studying or hanging out. Good menu, friendly staff, decent wifi. Plenty of outdoor seating as well. Close to other food and entertainment options on South Lamar.

Lili Trevino

Google
my first time, and I loved it. It was busy so you might have a hard time finding a wall with a plug but they do have plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. You have to try the iced horchata latte! Delicious!

Charles Bishop

Google
The customer service is top notch! Coffee is definitely worth a shot. We had a couple of cappuccinos and two cold brews! Oh he pastries!! They are so good! Overflow parking was very nice also given the busy location.

Iain Mott

Google
This future Austin classic coffee house is situated inside the historic Stonehouse, one of South Lamar's oldest buildings. Serving Cuvée, you are in familiar territory as far as the coffee selection. An extensive deck provides ample room to enjoy the shade of the mature trees out front. Warm and friendly service.

Gustav Erlank

Google
Meticulously crafted coffees, welcoming atmosphere, wonderful outdoor seating area, and lipsmack-delicious donuts!

Jeremy Pfeiffer

Google
Cozy coffee shop with a few beers on tap and even To go options. They were out of honey. They probably usually have honey. You're welcome.

L. Palagonia

Google
Delicious coffee, friendly service and great outdoor seating

When in town, I really enjoy the brightness of this coffee shop and the warmth of the dark wood floors. Plenty of room for sitting awhile without people on top of you. Usually the coffee is quite good but occasional it misses the mark. Overall, I recommend this place.

Jacqueline P.

Yelp
Ordered an iced Chai latte with almond milk and sat for a couple hours to do work. The iced chai was tasty and slightly cheaper than some other shops since they didn't charge extra for milk substitutions. Usually I get their cold brew which I'm a big fan of but I decided to switch it up and wasn't disappointed. The shop itself is so pretty on the inside. It's housed in a Texas historic building and the interior has lots of natural lighting and cute window seating. It does get really busy though so most individual tables (and outlets) were full. I didn't order anything from the case but I was impressed at how well stocked it still was in the late afternoon considering how busy it was.

Yelp
I like Merit and frequent their other location but have never been here. This coffee shop is located in a historical site/house and has a little plaque on the outside for info. It has indoor and outdoor seating, busy even when I went in early in the morning around 7. Outside seating can be loud since its on S Lamar. Matcha I got was alright but the croissants look super. They have a bit of parking but S Lamar can be busy. Overall nice experience

Gurpreet L.

Yelp
Merit is one of my favorite coffee shops in Austin and I know that's a big statemement! Although I've been to this location many times, I'm a creature of habit and have only tried three of their drinks (chai, london fog, and lattes w/ different flavored syrups). Their chai isn't my favorite but I do love their london fogs and lavendar lattes (the add the perfect amount of lavendar, it doesn't tase like grass!). I've also tried their bagels and the rosmary one with chive cream cheese is literal heaven. Depending on the time you go, it can be pretty packed. I went on a late Sunday morning and line was out the door but during the mornings and afternoons on weekdays, it tends to be more manigable. It's a great place to work from, especially since they have outlets by every table

Holly D.

Yelp
The coffee and pastries are delicious as always, but be prepared to spend time finding parking. There are few seats inside during the workday, but a beautiful patio in the front. The baristas are wonderful.

Gustavo R.

Yelp
Great little coffee shop with quick service, typically available seating (great workspace), and great beverages! A little on the priciest side, but the quality is good.

Ellie N.

Yelp
There's a slight hint of sourness aftertaste in my cappuccino, which is not too great. The place is always crowded inside out. People come to work and study.

Dawn S.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop in the cutest historical building. There's a plaque outside but I can't remember all the details. ;) I got an iced latte and my friend ordered some matcha drink but they made him the wrong order. They offered to make it again but he just took it. It was actually delicious. I think it was called the Strawberry Matcha. She said they make the strawberry syrup in house. There were a lot or people sitting around working on their computers. There's a nice little shaded patio out front too.

Heather B.

Yelp
I found the baristas to be very friendly on the busy Saturday morning I visited.  I told them it was my first time, and they said to take my time and that they could answer questions. The almond croissant I ordered was large with plentiful almonds and filling.  I also had a blackberry lemonade.  They were both wonderful, but the drink has a fatal flaw. The crushed blackberries sink to the bottom and stay stuck under ice. Straw can get to many, but that's just a fruit treat. As for service, my croissant was handed to me in a bag as soon as I paid, so I only had to wait for my drink. I was informed the plates are opposite the counter, with silverware and napkins. There were many people working on laptops; however, there were also many people simply socializing.

Karen 2.

Yelp
their iced chai was not good. hard to find an empty parking spot. there's nice outdoor seating.

Amanda K.

Yelp
I had a very delicious overpriced sugar free vanilla latte here. The parking is a little crowded so may need to park next door during busy times. Inside people were either working or talking with friends. Overall nice place to grab a cup

Ellie C.

Yelp
This is my favorite store among all the Merit Coffee shops. The building itself is unique and it is also a historic site with great history. Upon entering the store, you see a great selection of Merit products to your left, including sweatshirts, t-shirts, caps, bags, and ofc coffee beans. The baristas are super sweet and helpful when we asked for drinks recs. My all-time favorite from this place is their iced matcha strawberry drinks :) Highly recommend!

Amanda G.

Yelp
I've tried various merit coffees throughout Texas including in Austin and Dallas. This is my favorite one, the baristas make the espresso to milk ratio perfect. I really get disappointed when I get handed a white coffee and get told there is two shots of expresso in there, (coffee lovers know it has to be the perfect shade of brown) and here they always get it right! Their fall drinks are amazing, I got one simple latte with almond milk and my bf got the shaken maple pecan latte which is perfect for fall!

Ciarra N.

Yelp
I love the drinks, vibes and friendliness of the staff! It's a little bit more on the pricey side ($7-8 for a drink after tax) , but great local spot for breakfasts and drinks non the less. Since it's fall, I highly recommend any of their specials, but my go to drink is always an iced strawberry matcha with oat milk

Dave G.

Yelp
I've never had a bad experience at any Merit location. After going to a diff coffee shop and being told they shut down their espresso machine 20 minutes before closing, I ran across the street and tried Merit. I had wasted time complaining to my wife about the last place so it was 5 minutes until they closed and I asked if they could still pull a shot for me. They smiled and said, "Of course! we don't close until 7:00". Of course. Delicious as always. I'm always excited when I see a Merit location in any city I'm traveling through. So kind and so good.

Milly M.

Yelp
Coffee & pastry time, no line at 9am, I had a almond croissant...no pic couldn't wait to devour it!!! It was good sized with crispy with almonds on top and in the middle was a fantastic almond shmear, it was so good I ate it as slow as possible to enjoy every minute of it but no still no pics. Sorry...he had the cream cheese bagel and enjoyed it. That cream cheese has to be homemade it had pieces of strawberries in it! Yummm! The coffee was great a bit to strong for him but ohhhh so perfect for me!! I drank his for him, why waste a good thing.

Minh P.

Yelp
I got a matcha latte and my friend got their house coffee. Not bad, but not really impressive either. I don't think I would return based on this drink. The matcha is made in house, with a matcha powder and bamboo whisk (so, traditionally). I appreciated that, and can really taste the matcha. That being said, the latte itself ended up being pretty watery in texture. Might have to do with the milk (non dairy milks are +$1). My drink was enjoyable but not the best I've had. My friend said the house coffee was okay, with a kind of tap-watery aftertaste. It grew on them after a while, but they didn't love it. The ambiance is nice. The inside is well decorated, and it is a comfortable place to sit, chat, and enjoy your food/drinks. Plenty of outdoor seating in addition to inside tables.

Christopher C.

Yelp
Great vibe, great coffee. I ordered the iced latte with whole milk and it was delightful. (SUMMERTIME) Around 8 AM it's not incredibly crowded, but it surely packs up around 11 AM. The wifi is great and I would come here again! Cheers

Kasey F.

Yelp
Cool Austin coffee shop located in a historic building. Indoor/outdoor seating. Plenty of drink options and fresh pastries. I visited on a Monday afternoon, and the only bummer was that every table inside was taken by someone working on a laptop. I guess it's a good place to get some work done! Iced dirty chai hot the spot.

Michael R.

Yelp
It's a pretty good coffee shop. About $5 for a cup of coffee. Most customers are working. A few people having business meetups. Internet is pretty slow due to all the people working/gaming so it's probably a better place to have a conversation than it is to work. The shop has no control over the crowd, or vibe, so it's not their fault that people are obnoxious. It's across the street from that massive apartment complex on Lamar, and draws a lot of people in their early 20s working from home. You should expect some people watching movies without earphones or just having overly loud conversations, which is the norm now-a-days.

Lianna T.

Yelp
Very busy on a Saturday morning and for good reason. The coffee and hot chocolate were delicious. It is clear that care and time is put into each of their drinks. The setting is lovely with both indoor and outdoor seating - on a wrap around patio. Of course, it is right on South Lamar so the view isn't the best and the large road does make it just a little less relaxing. Also, be prepared to wait if you want indoor seating as every seat was taken, and by people who looked like they may not be moving for some time. Overall, perfect to pick up drinks on the go.

Corinne E.

Yelp
Everyone is always really helpful when I'm feeling a tad indecisive. Have yet to try something that isn't amazing Their seasonal drinks for fall are AMAZING. Obsessed with the maple pecan shaken espresso & berry cobbler matcha. How do they do it??? Even though this location is pretty consistently busy, I've never had to wait long which is impressive.

Shradha A.

Yelp
One of the best matcha lattes - it's not made of a syrup but actual matcha powder, unsweetened. They reliably have oat milk. So a win!

Debbie S.

Yelp
Best coffee I found when visiting Austin!! They have several sites in and around Austin. I stopped by several times (a day) on my trip. Wish I had found it on my first day there.

Melynda S.

Yelp
Friendly staff, a decent amount of seating options, and super yummy drinks! What more could you ask for? What I ordered: 12oz Iced harvest spice latte ($5.75 + $1 for oat milk) - 4.5/5 - If you like fall drinks this is for you. If you aren't the biggest fan of pumpkin, this is the drink for you. It's a delicious blend of cinnamon and other spices. Creamy and delicious. Helpful Tip - Make sure you budget enough time to get your drink. I went at 8:30 on a Tuesday morning and there was at least half a dozen people in line. I then had to wait at least 10 minutes to get my drink. Not a super big deal, but I wouldn't recommend if you are in a rush. Overall great experience!

Thuy N.

Yelp
PROS: + vanilla latte with breve + outdoor seating + cold brew + drip coffee + amazing beans + cute merchandise + friendly service + blueberry scone + pop tart CON: - we exist in different states Our absolute favorite coffee shop in Texas. We've been in Austin for a few days, and visited Merit over 5x :) HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Almaree V.

Yelp
Ordered a lavender latte that tasted subtle and natural. Espresso was not burnt! Yay! The overall vibe is cosy and although I was only passing through on my way to Dallas, I would definitely come here again if I'm in town. Seems like the perfect place to sit and study or just simply be... Also, dod friendly!

Matt D.

Yelp
Incredible coffee and great ambiance. From lattes to pour overs, they do everything so well! Grab a coffee and some beans to go. I promise you will not regret your decision

Aria H.

Yelp
Came for chai but ended up with a blackberry lemonade; the muddled blackberries are superb! I prefer my lemonade a little sweeter than tart so I added sugar. But all around cute place to do some work, chat with friends, and get a coffee pickme up. Of course a plus is indoor seating that isn't too cold! Will be back!

Miguel R.

Yelp
Service is great, but coffee is mid. Matcha was mid. Cool location, the drinks we got just weren't as great.

Madi E.

Yelp
The service was awesome! My food and cafe were ready fast and I had guidance picking out coffee beans to make cold brew. The people were cool and the location is great.

Carl S.

Yelp
Good coffee, but this is one of the only coffee shops in Austin that allows dogs inside and it shows. I visited this location recently, and we could not find a seat where a dog was not hovering over us on the bench seating. To make things worse, half a dozen dogs were in the middle of the floor playing, making it difficult to navigate with a full cup of coffee. I have no issues with dogs on an outside patio; inside, it's unsanitary and inconvenient to other patrons, especially when the owners are distracted reading while their dogs are roaming.

Sheema S.

Yelp
Went on a coffee date with my sister and we both got a lattes with caramel flavored sauce! Super great taste! The aesthetics of the cafe is super cute!

Victoria W.

Yelp
~ what I got ~ honey lavender latte first time visiting merit coffee! ample of outdoor and indoor seating with enough outlets to charge your electronic devices! perfect location to get work done!

Alexa C.

Yelp
Another day in Austin, another coffee shop to go to! Honestly, prefer this location over the other ones. It felt more spacious compared to the other ones instead of feeling cramped up and worried you might hit someone. Got the iced matcha and wasn't too bad. Put a lot of simple syrup. Don't look at me like that. Very good, very happy. Tried the strawberry matcha to-go, but it felt as if the strawberry was very subtle. Definitely will just go for the matcha next time. Great that the restrooms are secure and wifi is the same password for all locations. Will say that the baristas when I went just took the order and did it, not a warm interaction, but they still made the drink, I'll give them that.

Emily T.

Yelp
I enjoyed this place more than I thought I would. They have a good amount of parking and lots of tables to sit at which is always a plus. I got the chai latte and they made it so fast! I literally was just putting my wallet away and it was already ready. I got mine with oat milk and it was super creamy and extra delicious. I was online something about a strawberry macha one but didn't see it here, might try that next time

Zane J.

Yelp
one of the best lattes in the city and great service. The patio with free wi-fi is an amazing place to get work done

Wayne N.

Yelp
Love Merit. This is my first time to this location and there's plenty of outdoor seating, good interior decor too. Parking lot is not huge but you should be able to find parking. Their coffee is great and I'm partial to the lattes as it is very full flavored coffee but also nice rich and creamy milk. I like to add a splash of vanilla syrup to my lattes but it's the perfect pick me up in the morning. It's not bitter at all, just sweet enough and not acidic either. Great way to start the day!

Bo B.

Yelp
Just moved to the neighborhood here so I've been trying all the different coffee shops. They have a great space to lounge around and relax or just work. I usually get a matcha latte and the one here had a weird taste. I still prefer summer moon and royal blue for matcha lattes.

ally k.

Yelp
Almond milk here is delicious. Cute place, but seems to constantly be overpacked and you can't always sit and eat. Also limited food options and the egg cups are good but overpriced for their small size IMO. I also got some of the merit coffee beans and I was glad to see they had a decaf option because a lot of places don't. This is my first time here, it was decent but I think the other locations might be better than this one.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Austin's central perk (minus the orange couch). LIFE HACK: iced matcha with water and a splash of milk, your skin will thank you. WFH and mental breakdown friendly

Lisa H.

Yelp
The coffee here was really good! It's location is a cute little house where people were sipping on coffee and or chatting outside on the porch. I got the lavender latte, and it was smooth, not bitter and not super sweet. My friends loved their coffees as well. My friend visiting bought a shirt, and I got a glass coffee cup from them. The line was long, but moved quickly and menu was easy to read and effective for keeping the line going.

Jim B.

Yelp
Enjoyed our coffees, pastries and yogurts this morning. A nicely preserved heritage building. Staff was very friendly. A pleasant neighborhood vibe.

Yuri T.

Yelp
While parking at this Merit is very limited, the coffee is good and they have ample indoor seating, with approximately twelve 2-person tables. The drip coffee is expensiver than some cafes' but refills are free. Their location is convenient to downtown hiking and shopping activities. The major downside is the parking. They have two areas, one paved and one not. The former is usually full. The latter is a risk for low-slung vehicles as there is a chance of scraping the underside.

Jennie V.

Yelp
Only good place in Austin to get matcha lattes! Their matcha is insanely good, I'm very grateful to them, especially because they use mill king milk which is compatible with my dietary needs(low temp pasteurized non homogenized grass fed milk from a local farm) I'm not sure, but I think they're the only coffee shop with this milk. The matcha is dark green and tastes absolutely amazing. I'm not sure where they source it but I feel like you can taste cheapness/ oxidized food and this tastes top quality.

Kelly M.

Yelp
Great coffee place! I'm a huge fan of their coffee but opted for something more refreshing. Went with the ice green tea and was very happy. Not sweet, which is more enjoyable to me. Amble amounts of parking and tables both inside and outside. Plus it's dog friendly!

Yar P.

Yelp
The coffee is reasonably good, however one does see signs of neglect here and there. The parking areas are a case in point. See photo. The place can get very noisy so it maybe isn't a great place to study.

Anthony M.

Yelp
I don't often find myself at coffee shops, mainly since I get it free at my apartment, but that should change as I was satisfied with my recent visit at Merit Coffee. When you walk in, you'll immediately see that it's a cozy homey environment with the beautiful aroma of coffee in the air. As you take a look at the menu, you see that they have a wide variety to choose from depending on your mood. You could go sweet or savory, lattes or lemonades. And to that I say: why not both? I got: - Iced Matcha Latte: a good, herbal and balanced way to start your morning - Blackberry Lemonade: if you weren't awake before, you will now. This was really sweet! - Poptart: takes you back to childhood memories, but it's higher quality and is more rich in its jelly filling - Jalapeño Kolache: this ain't your typical kolache. The sausage is higher quality and more chewy with the breading being a croissant! Overall, you can't go wrong with any of the above. They still had a lot more options not seen here, so I would come back again. Since I had a great time, I give them a 4/5!

Brad S.

Yelp
Today was a joke for service. And attitude. They yelled at folks in line to go outside and wait. And staff acted annoyed. With manager watching. And my pour over was forgotten and delivered cold and weak. Do better.

Cecilia H.

Yelp
Our experience here was very lackluster and we stopped by because it has 4 -5 stars on Yelp and we wanted to support a local business vs our usual place. The coffee was awful and tasted like chemicals and the chocolate croissant was devoid of chocolate.

David N.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere coffee shop with decent parking. Ordered two new coffees to tr, but 1 was low on an ingredient, so I got a refresher drink instead. The other coffee was fin, but the refresher was a lott more sour than I expected to be, but overall a decent spot.
