Southwest Portland Vietnamese Restaurant Anchoi Has Closed | Eater Portland

"I saw that Stoopid Burger, the Kerns burger bar known for its hardcore, intricate burgers, closed on February 2 after co-owners John Hunt and Danny Moore decided to part ways." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Nationally Noteworthy Burger Bar Stoopid Burger Will Close Sunday | Eater Portland

"One of Portland’s most creative burger bars is closing: the food-cart-turned-restaurant announced via social media that “Sunday February 2nd will be Stoopid Burgers (sic) last day. Much love to our supporters.” The original cart opened in 2014 and the restaurant followed in 2017; co-owners John Hunt and Danny Moore have reportedly decided to part ways, and Hunt has hinted at another culinary venture later this year. Known for hardcore sandwiches and celebrated by critics and diners alike, the spot won The Oregonian’s 2016 People’s Choice award for Portland’s Best Burger, made the final four of Willamette Week’s Burger Madness bracket, and was included on Eater Portland’s map of essential burgers. Reviewers have praised its food—Sophia June summed it up as “There’s nothing as stupidly good as the Stoopid Burger,” and Meghan McCarron called it one of the city’s most prominent Black-owned restaurants—particularly the Wicked Burger, topped with pineapple habanero salsa, bacon, and peanut butter, whose tart pickles, fatty bacon, hot chutney, and sticky-sweet peanut butter crunch were described as “just crazy enough to be genius.”" - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Eating Beyond Portland’s Hipster Restaurant Scene | Eater

"A homegrown success story that moved from a beloved food truck to brick-and-mortar status, celebrated locally for its unapologetically over-the-top burgers and strong community roots; the founders emphasize legacy and local representation in Portland’s dining scene. The flagship sandwich is a piled-high, celebratory composition of ham, bacon, hot link, egg, and cheese (served alongside a signature sauce), and the menu leans toward crowd-pleasing excesses that are simultaneously nostalgic and inventive." - Meghan McCarron

Where to Eat or Drink for Support Black-Owned Restaurant Week | Eater Portland

"I echo the organizer’s insistence that everybody should go to Stoopid Burger; the former food cart serves loaded burgers stacked with toppings like hotlinks, mango habanero chutney, or mozzarella sticks." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

This was my first visit to this restaurant. This restaurant appears clean. The bench that I sat on was a bit sticky. The recorded music was enjoyable to listen to. It is a bus your table, order at the counter, staff delivers the food to your table restaurant model. I am not a fan of this style of service at a sit-down dinner. The mid week lunch crowd was light. I enjoyed a bacon burger, fries and a chocolate shake. Counter staff seemed like they were new at their job. They forgot to serve my soda with my meal. I had to approach the counter to retrieve my soda. Don't expect to enjoy much outside of the restaurant because the Lloyd Center Mall is mostly populated by closed stores. I recommend this restaurant. I expect to visit again.

Google
Stoopid burger, not very Stoopid at all! So happy that these guys went in at Lloyd Center! Fist of all my pro tip is that the menus don't say that the burgers come with fries, but they do! I got the burger that had fries and an onion ring on it because I wanted fries and didn't know they came with fries! With that being said the fries were nice and salty. Great shoe-string style. The burger was smash style and everything tasted great!! Definitely worth the price! They have an $80 burger (I'm sure it's more of a gimmick) but I'd love to see what it looks like in person someday! Also the staff were super nice!! Highly recommend grabbing a burger from here!

Google
Always great! Service always fast and friendly. I usually buy the shrimp basket and a fish basket and combine them ( minus some fries)! Fried right! Flavored right! We will forever support!

Google
So so yummy!!!!! I have been playing a game that takes place in Honolulu that has real pictures of delicious food (Yakuza, Pirates in Hawaii) and require accompanying food yar THE BEEFIYAKI BURGER WAS AS DELICIOUS AS I IMAGINE SEGAS BURGERS TO BE AND MORE! CRAVING SATISFIED 😤🫨🥹

Google
The food is really outstanding! Every meal we had was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. I suggest the Rich Boy and their Mozzarella Sticks! I really wish I took a picture before we started eating. They are family owned and the cook/owner was incredibly friendly and did an amazing job.

Google
The staff here were great! This was our first time visiting this restaurant and they could tell, it they happily helped us pronounce the burger names we couldn’t manage. The food we ordered was awesome (and stoopid haha). My burger had cheese sticks on it for an example of how different their food is. The French fries were also good.

Google
Best service around! Very warm and welcoming staff. The burgers are diner style (as is the look of the restaurant) and delicious. Next time we’ll get the Stoopid burger (with egg, bacon, ham, cheese, hot link… the works and then some!). And the fried fish looked very tasty so we’ll try that too. Great fries here! Check out the Ignorant Burger on the menu coming in at $80!!! CrAzY!!! We’ll be back soon. Recommended!!

Google
This indeed was the best burger ever! And I have never had such delicious onion rings. Highly recommend Stoopid Burger. The owner, Danny, is very friendly and takes good care of his customers. Ivory is a great cook.

Yelp
I am so happy to see an amazing restaurant open up in this location. Stoopid burger has become a family favorite, so much so that my 3-year-old niece picked it for her birthday party. She said she wanted a "Stoopid hanger-burger." We didn't do full birthday setup or anything but the staff were so accommodating and the corner booths were perfect for a little family birthday lunch. The food is so high quality and we have lots of preferences in our family, they have garden burgers that are so tasty, the classic stoopid burgers are obviously are amazing, The chicken nuggets are hit with the kids, and they have an amazing fish and chips that I highly recommend. We will be back for sure.

Yelp
Our food never showed up. After forty minutes or so, my kid and I decided it wasn't worth waiting. It wasn't busy, and on the way out we saw our food just sitting there, waiting to come out. It wasn't a rush of people. It wasn't packed. The staff wasn't in chaos. They just didn't bring us the meal. Who knows why. It's relatively expensive, but cold food when you're hangry is just salting a wound, so I chalked it up to paying to learn a lesson about where, and where not to, eat, and bugged out.

Yelp
Don't ever tell me there isn't anything good to eat at Lloyd Center, otherwise I'll KNOW you haven't tried Stoopid Burger...and that would make you stoopid indeed. Amazing burger, great fries, clean and welcoming restaurant, great service, and the best root beer float in the city. Don't be stoopid, go to Stoopid Burger, stoopid. PS: don't miss the fish and chips

Yelp
I'm a bit conflicted with this. On the one hand, this place seems like a hidden gem burger joint and I'd like for it to be kept a secret but on the other hand, EVERYONE needs to come and try this place out. I went to the Lloyd sit in location and was immediately greeted by the friendliest staff member. After I placed my order he saw a Nintendo game I had and he and I immediately started conversating and I personally am a sucker for friendly hospitality. Now let's get to the burger. There was a lot going on with it which I loved and this is easily one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. Will be coming back for more but definitely give this place a try! Especially for the sit in as I love the old school diner vibes this place offers.

Yelp
We saw this about to open, 18 days days, we decided to stop by here for lunch. Positives: 1. A family-run operation. 2. They have a wide variety of hamburger. 3. The two we ordered from the menu were excellent. 4. Nice to have the former restaurant come to life again. 5. Friendly service. 6. Very clean. Negatives: 1. Booth #12 was drafty. 2. We have to ask ketchup for our fries. 3. They were not clear instructions as to whether or not to bus our table.

Yelp
Pretty darn good burger. I tried the bacon cheese burger which has a funny name like the rest of the burgers. Just so unfortunate its in such a desolate mall. It literally makes you sad and scared walking in there. I had never been before. Glad we found this tasty spot.

Antwane P.

Yelp
Food is amazing !!!!!! Love the burgers Services is freaking amazing place is always clean to!
google avatar

Yelp
It's in the name. Chaotic ordering experience, food delivery times exceeded 20 minutes, which is pretty long for a food truck, and then to top it off the "10 piece chicken nuggets" came with 7. Doh!

Barb K.

Yelp
Unique burger options - love their fries, crispy and skinny. Friendly service. Best to park on the top level or near Barnes & Noble to get there.

Yelp
I went here on Juneteenth, and there were only 2 people running the whole place. It was a very significant holiday, so i was surprised that it was even open. I had the smart veggie berger with no sauce and some fries, and it was cooked so well. Really yummy. A lot of times veggie burgers are undercooked, so having a lightly crisped yet chewy burger was a real treat. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed with good tunes, too. As a vegan this was the only real food option with protein in the whole mall and I was pleased. And I was pregnant and very hungry so double thank you! Thank you! For the kind service, great burger, and great ambiance

Yelp
If you're going to be dining in the Lloyd Center, Stoopid Burger has the best site and foods among your options here. Located in a prominent spot on the upper level, their decor is fun. You can either order at the counter (preferable if you're getting it to go, I would guess), or you can very conveniently order from your booth or table by scanning the QR code. Those burgers - even their "not quite stoopid" options, like their "Almost There" are a meal. I figure I'd have to unhinge my jaw to take in a full burger. The fries are tasty and even retain their crispness and flavor after having cooled off. But the pleasant surprise were those fried green beans, crisp with just enough spiciness to add flavor without overwhelming. Their milkshakes are delicious too, and I did not find them overly sweet. I've always appreciated how, in Portland, food trucks have great opportunities to find their niche and work their way up, and Stoopid Burger is a great testimony to that.

Yelp
The combination of food these guys put together is amazing and tastes great plus the customer service was top notch.

Yelp
Food was extremely good and so was the service, super nice people and they have such a fun menu. Aesthetic wise, I loved it and so did my partner I came with. A cool thing they did for us was when we didn't recognize a certain ingredient on the meal we wanted and were curious, the cook let us try a sample of it for free to taste which was cool of them to do! We ended up taking it with our meal. The "Stoopid Burger" was delicious and amazing and the sided fries were incredible, super tasty and flavorful! The "Stoopid Juice" was also great and refreshing. Overall, nice people, cool aesthetic, fantastic food!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went to that restaurant today as we tried to cool off at the Lloyd center. We were not hungry and we both ordered two milkshakes at eight dollars apiece. That was the biggest ripoff ever. The ingredients were barely one scoop of ice cream a pint of half-and-half And some malt flavoring. It was terrible.

Yelp
Stoopid Burger should be renamed to STUPID BURGER. I saw the FB reviews and thought I would bring a few friends to support local businesses. Well, what a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! Service, if you want to call it that, sucked! A cheeseburger, fries and soft drink SHOULD NOT take 45 minutes. Burger was dry, fries were salty. The person delivering drinks/shakes was clueless -- walking around each table asking if this drink was theirs. Mind you, it was Saturday around 6 pm but the restaurant (using this term loosely) wasn't that busy. Staff did know what the hell they were doing. When the cheeseburger arrived, I had to ask for the fries and drink -- the rude server said, "I'm getting them now" -- hello, isn't it common sense to bring everything at once especially after having to wait so long. It's not like it's a five-course meal! Asked for ketchup and mustard -- didn't care for their Stoopid sauce -- ketchup in packets; no mustard. What the hell --- standard condiments people! Don't waste your time and save your money. You are better off going somewhere else. McDonald's, Five Guys, Burger King, Jack-in-the-Box, Red Robin, Burgerville --- does a better job. What truly baffles me is that my friend placed his order first (Order #118), I was second #119, and my other friend was #120. Order #118 was delivered within 10 minutes, so we figured ours would be delivered soon thereafter -- nope, waited, waited, waited...when I asked the cashier (who also delivered our food), why did our orders take soon long? She snapped and said, "I don't know". Hello, you work there...you should know or at the very least apologize for the inconvenience. She was really nice when I first placed my order with her and then her true colors came out! Nope, just another reason why businesses like this go out and don't make it. Stick to your food truck -- that's about how far it will go. What a waste of $20.70 (includes $2.70 tip) -- now I regret including a tip. Here's a new tip: FIND BETTER STAFF WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Stoopid Burger = STUPID Service.

Yelp
Pros: Local, FRESH!! tasty, service is fantastic, great selection of food. That STOOPID sauce, I'd pick that as my one item to take on a deserted island. I swear, so good you could eat old shoes with it and they would taste good. Super cute place too where you can see them cook your food. Cons: for 20.00 I would like real cheese not American, if I pay 2.00 extra for a lettuce wrap instead of a bun, I expect more than one piece of lettuce and to have it wrapped. Neither are major cons but things to keep in mind. Would I go again? ABSOLUTELY I'll just order without cheese next time and no bun since the lettuce wrap isn't worth it. Also, I didn't get fries so I can't weigh in on them. But overall, a good burger with stellar service, and super fresh ingredients.

Yelp
Great local burger spot in a mall that is in transition. The fried shrimp and the rich guy sandwich are both excellent. The owner is super welcoming and the old-school diner vibe is a kick. Will definitely continue eating there.

Yelp
This black owned business has come a long way from food carts in the pacific north west! The dinning area was clean and easy to order from. Staff was so friendly!

Yelp
Absolutely outstanding service. We spilled a drink and the crew absolutely refused to let us help clean up; and dos a great job cleaning up while we finished. I got the burger with mozzarella sticks, so good; and the fried green beans are a must try.

Tracy A.

Yelp
So friendly! Burgers are stoopidly huge and delicious. Cautiously approach the spicy ones, cause hooooo boy...they ain't kiddin! Can't wait to go back (this time without the spice LOL).

Yelp
Food trucks at my house are one of my favorite things and this was one of the first burger trucks to come by and I was SO excited. First off the truck is cute, the name is fun, and it's an easy menu to navigate. The staff are amazing, friendly, the engaged with me while they cooked and all three of them seemed to truly love their jobs. Now the food. Amazing. The fries are seasoned and perfection. The burger tasted like heaven. Fresh veggies. Perfectly cooked. It was so good.
google avatar

Jay D.

Yelp
I was Stoopid impressed with this place. The atmosphere is strange in such a cool way. A 50s style diner with a great selection hip-hop, R&B, Reggae, and similar bumping overhead. The food was amazing. Like really good. The owners were super friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back.

Anahi H.

Yelp
The burgers were low-key cold, and my order took forever, even though there weren't many people. The guy that did the serving had an attitude when giving us our burgers. The burgers were okay, I'm never coming back here though

Yelp
The burgers are delicious. They show up to different event. reasonably prize if you're hot girl, you better get ready to go to the gym.

Yelp
Our first time indulging in Stoopid burgers at portland night market. We ordered the The Stoopid Burger which includes Beef, cheddar, bacon, ham, hot link, fried egg, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and stoopid sauce along with a small sized fry which was in the same container as the burger. It was over indulging and very filling for us! The packaging was great. Food was not too greasy and salty. If you want to get filled a whole lot of meat I'd def recommend this burger. They didn't have much of a selection at the portland night market but would love to come back to their food cart in the future. We also paid 50 cents for the Stoopid sauce which was great for the fries. The only complaint I had wa the sauce was not filled in the container all the way and I really enjoyed the sauce. Fries were not too salty but the sauce definitely compliments the fries 100 percent. They also had a sample of their fish which was delicious as well! I didn't see the menu because I'm short and their food truck sits up high.
google avatar

Yelp
The Stoopid Burger cart came to my office park today and it was a winner!! The guys were super friendly (and easy on the eyes) and the burger was GREAT! They put mozz sticks and fries inside - I have to admit I ate a fry while walking back to my office and literally said "WHAT?!" out loud to myself because it was so good. I hope they come back!

Yelp
Got dinner for my wife and I when they were parked in front of the NV Apartments down in the Pearl. Ordered cheese burger and the Stoopenduz burger with fries and onion rings. Burgers were fantastic, batter and dipping sauce were also amazing, awesome truck with awesome food, highly recommended!

Eric N.

Yelp
Hands down, class act. These guys came out to our middle school football game in St. Helens. Provided burgers to all the players FOR FREE!!! Burgers were amazing too! Please go see them, support them and enjoy a fantastic burger

Adair P.

Yelp
I was at OMSI after dark and chose Stoopid Burger as it was only one of two food options. The wait for us was about an hour and others around us waited over an hour for their food and were only served because they went up to the cart and complained. I appreciate the hard work of working in fast food but there was no sense of urgency even though there were at least 10 groups of people waiting for their food. I ordered the veggie burger and to be completely honest it was probably the worst veggie patty I've ever had. My two friends got beef burgers and they also did not like their food very much. The fries were pretty good though. I liked the seasoning. Overall, I would never go back to Stoopid Burger.

Laurie B.

Yelp
These guys are amazing. They fed two teams of football players on their dime and the food as amazing. Customer service was spot on, with a kind friendly atmosphere. Need a good burger? Go here!

Mathias B.

Yelp
This burger spot was great, and unlike other places this food got me full. The fries were seasoned so well that you don't even need a sauce.
