"One of Portland’s most creative burger bars is closing: the food-cart-turned-restaurant announced via social media that “Sunday February 2nd will be Stoopid Burgers (sic) last day. Much love to our supporters.” The original cart opened in 2014 and the restaurant followed in 2017; co-owners John Hunt and Danny Moore have reportedly decided to part ways, and Hunt has hinted at another culinary venture later this year. Known for hardcore sandwiches and celebrated by critics and diners alike, the spot won The Oregonian’s 2016 People’s Choice award for Portland’s Best Burger, made the final four of Willamette Week’s Burger Madness bracket, and was included on Eater Portland’s map of essential burgers. Reviewers have praised its food—Sophia June summed it up as “There’s nothing as stupidly good as the Stoopid Burger,” and Meghan McCarron called it one of the city’s most prominent Black-owned restaurants—particularly the Wicked Burger, topped with pineapple habanero salsa, bacon, and peanut butter, whose tart pickles, fatty bacon, hot chutney, and sticky-sweet peanut butter crunch were described as “just crazy enough to be genius.”" - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
