"Storstad" means "big city" and refers to the chef's time in Stockholm. But it's not just the name that's Swedish here – you will also find Nordic touches in the decor of this chic urban restaurant on the fifth floor of the Turmtheater. Up here in the historical Goliath House, you can also make the most of the wonderful terrace with its views of the cathedral. Chef-patron Anton Schmaus can depend on his dedicated and talented kitchen team. Under the direction of head chef Josef Weig, they deliver creative dishes (such as "Confit turbot, roasted Jerusalem artichokes and Jerusalem artichoke cream, quince aioli, sudachi gel") that can be sampled in the form of either the regular or vegetarian set menu. The products rightly take centre stage here, the quality is truly remarkable. The excellent food is accompanied by beautifully paired wines and served by an accomplished, courteous front-of-house team. At lunchtime, there is a smaller set menu as well as an excerpt from the evening menu." - Michelin Inspector

Very confortable restaurant with amazing service and food. I was not expecting such delicious dishes as it was served. Highlights to the banana desert and the tuna tartar.

Outstanding dining experience. If you find a reason to visit Regensburg, make sure to put Storstad on your list. This beautifully minimalistic Scandinavian designed restaurant provides you with a welcoming warm atmosphere and a splendid view on the roof terrace. The staff is super friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the 5-course dinner of highest quality and great flavors accompanied by a very interesting and complementing wine pairing which had a focus on French and German Whites. This was an evening we will definitely cherish in our memories. Thanks again to the well-rehearsed team at Storstad.

We came here for lunch. Excellent menu, very professional and attentive staff. The roof top terrace offers amazing views of the cathedral - extra points for that. Would be worth to come up here just for an after work drink. My husband ordered the Suckling pig, presented with an elegant twist on the classic Bavarian dish. I had fish, a summery dish with green curry foam, pineapple and coconut milk. All very good, however, the amuse bouche was even better - truly outstanding combination of flavors and a demonstration of what the kitchen is capable of. Home-made bread and spread was excellent as well. At the end of our meal, we were served raspberry macaroons - delicious! Pretty steep prices even for lunch (starting at 40 € for a main) but I guess that is expected at a Michelin star restaurant.

Pleasant. In Regensburg one mainly expects Pork knuckle and beer - and one gets more than enough of both. Upscale cuisine is sadly rate. So it is very fortunate to have the Storstad in town. The cuisine is a crossover of Asian, German, and northern influences. The menu we had was framed by Tom Ka Gai - a soup in the beginning and, interestingly, as an ice cream at the end. Packed into that was sashimi with beetroot, pasta with white truffle, codfish sea buckthorn, and reindeer with creamy field salad. The only (minor) complaint, or rather suggestion, I might raise is that I think the rather strong sea buckthorn is in danger if overpowering the fish - that is, of course, a matter of opinion. Overall we very much enjoyed the evening. The location is central, service is competent, and the food keeps the tension of being surprising without being overwhelming. A tip to the head from my side.

Storstad is a wonderful restaurant located right in the heart of Regensburg. The food here is TOP notch and they take food exploration to a whole new level, by pairing ingredients that you would not think would go together in a dish. That is part of the appeal I Guess as not everything is a great success, but their adventuring spirit with taste and flavour is what makes this place exciting. When you look at the menu, you become befuddled as you would think in your head, how on earth would that work together, so you order it just to find out for yourself. And when the food comes and you look at the beautiful plate, the anticipation builds up and when the first bite is taken, it is either a not bad or a how on earth did they achieve this synergy of flavour!!! One great example was the goose liver dish which was served with a runny yolk quail egg, enoki, edamame, sesame, a rich broth, pickled daikon and green onions. The liver was accentuated by the rich flavours of the broth and each of the accompaniments came together to give you a fun way to mix and match your flavours and enjoy the liver in a multitude of ways contrary to the usual method which is just one dimensional. All in all, a fantastic restaurant to go for a nice Long dinner where you can sit back and relax and enjoy food in a way which should be the case, anyway which you like to do so, of course not in the nude please.

The food is perfect but maybe not as innovative. The service is flawless- staff are very attentive and responsive - almost too attentive. What was a bit daring was the appetizers in a bucket of ice - seems out of place and am not convinced yet on the taste of pickled watermelon. As usual we tried the menu - and every dish - as expected - perfectly executed. The taste - excellent. Nothing to complain. But we missed the "wow" factor. There were no surprises. Just a bit boring if I dare say. Fortunately the menu is changing.

Yelp
Had an amazing meal here! The waiter was extremely nice and spoke near perfect English. The restaurant was beautiful and if you sit by the window would have a great view of the cathedral. The food was on point! We had the soft shell crab and tuna to start which were so good we were starting to think we made a mistake not ordering the 8 course meal to see what else the chef had to offer. Then we had the fish which was perfectly cooked and the calf head which was interesting but very tasty! Instead of dessert we ordered a third main and enjoyed our Kobe steak which was a little salty but delicious nonetheless. Overall, we were extremely happy with our meal and service!!

Yelp
What a treasure to find! Stunning and innovative food with attentive staff and the cathedral as the backdrop. Hidden away on the 5th floor a culinary oasis that needs to be found! Dish after tasty dish arrived seamlessly, tartare, sole, chervil root dessert and delicious unexpected between course extras! Very special, we loved it!

Yelp
This is just a review of the Storstad outside lounge bar, not the restaurant! The place is small but offers a great view (5th floor over the rooftops - 2 stars for that). I had high hopes for this place: finally an original location in the small historical town of Regensburg. - We were greeted and served without a smile by the bartender. I couldn't tell if he was just unprofessional or tried to show an attitude (an attitude by a provincial bartender in Germany, really?) - There is a tiny drink list board with maybe 10 drinks on it. I asked for a classical cocktail, but apparently they can't even bother to serve real cocktails outside: only beers, a few wines and a few basic mixes are on the board. The "real" (fully equipped bar) is about 10 meters away inside, so it's not like they don't have access to the ingredients or equipment. The inside bar by the way (empty because of the nice weather), seemed nice and modern despite being quite small. - The bartender started cleaning up and removing bottles at around 9.25pm. We asked when the outside area was closing; the answer was (with the usual cold tone) "10pm, but you need to leave at 9.50 because we need to clean up everything here" with an emphasing on "everything" while looking desperately at the merely 50sqm terrace.... - There was no last call, so we couldn't order a last drink. The bartender was already going in and out to clean up, and wasn't really attending the bar anymore. When we were there, the Storstad bar didn't seem to care about customers, or - even worse - about making money (no last call). We crossed a few other employees on our way in or out (including the restaurant host), and every single one of them was friendly and smiling. I may try the restaurant someday - I only get excellent feedback from friends on the food and service there. The lounge terrace? Probably not. I've lived in and been to many world capitals; bad service is unacceptable everywhere...but at least they can afford the attitude ;-)
