Best Restaurants at Santana Row and Valley Fair in San Jose | Eater SF

"If you’re craving Southeast Asian fusion make a beeline for Straits. To achieve intricate flavor profiles, this modern Singaporean establishment combines elements of Malaysian, Indonesian, Chinese, Nonya, and Indian cuisine. The house favorite is the roti prata, a traditional Indian flatbread crowned with scallions and served with a mouth-watering yellow coconut curry dip. But there are plenty of noteworthy options on the menu. Make sure to load up on spicy basil chicken, curried vegetables, and lemongrass beef. The lychee martinis are also a must. Heads up: Straits opens its dance floor and notches up its music in the evenings. So if you’re hoping for a lowkey kind of meal, stop by for lunch instead." - Johanna Harlow

I visited this restaurant for a team lunch, and it's located in a nice spot with pleasant decor. They offer a separate vegetarian menu with a wide range of options, from starters to main courses, featuring South Asian-style dishes. The corn fritters, spring rolls, and garlic fries were tasty, but the crispy cauliflower was missing the expected batter coating. The street-style noodles in the main course were a bit too sticky, though the veg fried rice was enjoyable. However, considering the price, the food didn't quite meet expectations. Service was slow and lacked efficiency, with only one person taking orders and serving. They also didn't take our main course order until we'd finished the starters. Overall, the experience was decent but not outstanding.

Came here for a quick bite before exploring the rest of the area. Straits during the day is a very chill place to hang out and grab a couple of drinks. Their bar is pretty big and has a good selection of alcohol that could accommodate anyone's preference. The drinks were great and they do not skimp on the alcohol. The small bites we received were just alright, but if you're hungry when it turns into a club, they will hit the spot. The atmosphere here is cool and upbeat, and the service, while a bit slow, compliments the vibe they are trying to set. Overall, an alright place that's not too pricey for what you get.

Good food and good ambience. Perfect place to get some brunch on a sunny day! Tried chicken satay, basil chicken curry, jasmine rice and Salt & pepper shrimp. Basic chicken curry was very flavorful.

One of the favorite hang out places in the Bay area. Delicious food, great service, perfectly made cocktails and the vibes are just few words to describe Straits. You can choose chicken, steak or seafood without worry, you will never go wrong. Try as many dishes as possible but if you become a regular, post your feedback here and let me know what's new.

I came to Straits for happy hour and was pleasantly surprised by how great the experience was! Straits has one of the better happy hour deals around, good prices, generous portions, and great flavors. Also, Huge shoutout to Cin, guided me to have such a great experience. Her food recommendations were absolutely on point. The Chicken Lollipop was so good with the perfect combination of sweet and spicy, absolutely delicious and cooked just right. The Taiwanese Chicken Wings were crispy, juicy, and full of flavor, I honestly hard to stop eating them. The Satay Chicken was also solid , tender, juicy and full of that classic grilled taste. I tried the Mango Tequila Sprite and loved it. light, fruity, and refreshing without being too sweet. Great drink to pair with the bold flavors of the food. Their happy hour menu is such a good deal, and the service was fast and friendly. Straits has a great energy, casual, fun, and really relaxing after a long day of work

Google
Celebrated birthday at Straits recently. Food is decent but mistakes made in preparing for the reserved birthday party. First hostess brought us to wrong table, the birthday appetizers printout had the year incorrect. They corrected the error before the birthday girl showed up. Could have been better regarding the attention to details.

Google
Absolutely in love with this place. Beautiful ambience , great variety of food and service. We did order pas thai, paratha, samosas as starters and that did not disappoint. For main course the veg curry was amazing and so was the chilli garlic noodles. All in all great place to have a team dinner or lunch.

The experience here has been excellent! The staff have managed to attain very high standards of hospitality. Each dish was an experience in itself. The spicy dragon prawns was wonderfully prepared, and so was the soft shell crab cake. The satay sticks with their seasoning and spices were so succulent! The environment was very relaxing as well.

Yelp
Lived in San Jose for a long time...but never been to Straits since I barely ever visit the Row. I usually go elsewhere but I'm super glad I went here. This place is dope! Our server, Travis made the experience memorable, and I'll definitely be back. Anyone that's looking for a nice place to drink/chill and eat...Straits is definitely the place. Thanks Travis!

Yelp
the atmosphere is really great both during the day and at night! service is really efficient and they take great care of their customers (our table was always checked in on). really recommend the pad thai and lemongrass steak (10/10), the food in general was really good and a must stop by for those spending the day at santana row/valley fair :)

Yelp
Best experience on the row! The food and drinks were delicious. Travis & Christine helped me and made the whole visit 10 times better. Very sweet and friendly people that I felt a great connection with.

Yelp
Since moving into the neighborhood almost three weeks ago, Straits has quickly become my favorite go-to spot for lunch, happy hour, and late-night drinks with friends. The food and vibe are always on point! Late nights do get packed and busy but that's a good thing, imo. What really keeps me coming back is the exceptional service from Kim and Maggie. They're consistently warm, attentive, and have genuinely made me feel like a regular from day one. They always make the experience top-notch.

Yelp
Straits is like a club vibe restaurant that I think feels more like a club atmosphere the later in the night you go. The women who work here are all beautiful, giving the club vibe. I came with three coworkers of mine, about 7 minutes before happy hour ended. We told the hostess we wanted happy hour so she sat us in the happy hour area. When we went to order, the waitress told us we had to sit in the happy hour area and moved us again to another table/area. As I was looking at a happy hour menu and about to order to the waiter, a lady came and took the menu out of my hands. She then went across the table to remove the menu from my friend's hands and thankfully they said something (unlike me bc I'm scared of confrontation in any form). The waitress who was taking the menus said this was not the area for happy hour and happy hour was over. It was 5:58 and happy hour ends at 6 so technically we still had time to put an order in. We told them how we already moved tables for happy hour and thankfully our waiter Luis saved the day as he was willing to accommodate our happy hour order. If it wasn't for him, we would have not gotten it bc the lady was dead set on making us move again and telling us happy hour was over. As a business you can either happily invite people to come in and quickly get a last happy hour bite or rudely make it difficult for people to squeeze in a happy hour order and I feel like Straits did the later. It was an unwelcoming vibe and the waitresses didn't seem to know where happy hour was taking place. Is the food good? Yes. The corn fritters and chicken lollipops are always my go tos. The fries are good w the dips and the garlic noodles were good. Happy hour vodka drink was decent too just a bit sweet. Overall, I don't know how to feel about this place. Luis saved the day so I'm thankful they have some caring employees, but I'm scared to go now and not have him bc it would've been a completely different experience.

Yelp
Came in for happy hour for the first time and excited to make it back the next time. Every staff member gave thoughtful food and drink recommendations. I would recommend trying salt & pepper wings and fried rice, and the Strawberry Yuzu drink! Thank you for the attentive and thoughtful service, Preston! Need to come back and try more of their menu.

Yelp
Straits in Santana Row has always had the worse service ever. Last time it took 30 minutes to flag someone down for our check. Last night on July 4 around 9:30PM was the worst. We came in with a reservation and one of the only good things about the experience here was the host. She took us in right away and continued to check on us throughout the night. I love the vibe in here, the dj, and the layout of the restaurant but when service is lacking at a nicer/pricier place like this, it never makes me want to come back. We got sat and it took at least 15 minutes for someone to come and take our order. No one would have even came to us if the busser didn't ask if we had order yet. The manager Xhin finally comes out to take our order and she's just rude. The least she could have done was at least tried to be friendly for the 2 minutes of us ordering or tried to smile. As a server myself, her tone and attitude was horrible. We asked to split 2 checks since my friends only ordered drinks and appetizers and she said "she told me already so what do you want". They brought us the check on one with her disappearing after taking the order. Another mishap was also when my friend ordered a corona with her. Never received it so we tried ordering again with another server. Didn't come, another server Christine actually put in our order. She was the only server that was friendly and kind. Another server comes over to see if we needed anything, we asked her about the drinks because we've been seeing it on the counter for a few minutes and instead of grabbing it, she lets us know we've only been waiting for it for ten minutes even though it's been 40 and we're done with our food already. No one checked to refill our water, ask if we wanted to order more drinks (we did want to), etc. The host had to bring us our check, boxes, literally everything which is insane. $220 bill (not the problem) but if i'm paying that much all I expect is bare minimum service. We left super disappointed and I will not be returning anymore.

Yelp
I have been to Straits many times - for corporate dinners and milestone bday celebrations and have always enjoyed the food and vibe. Today was not one of those days. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong from a service perspective: - I ordered Basil Gin & Tonic - I got a regular G&T - when I asked where my berries and orange and Basil and rosemary were - instead of apologizing for the wrong order, he said they ran out of those ingredients! And then the manager showed up magically, with the exact drink I had ordered - we ordered our food with the manager - then 30 mins passed- 45 mins / the main server asked if we wanted to order and we said your manager has already taken our order - he didn't bother checking - 1.5 hrs later we asked him and he said they had not put the order in at all! - finally the order came - my friend asked for a glass of wine - which never came but did show up on the bill - glad we checked the bill and asked them to remove it - we went to use the restroom and the bathroom flushes weren't working The manager did come over and apologize and took off the charges for the food that showed up 1.5 hrs late. They have such a great spot and good food - I hope they work on their service.

Yelp
Had dinner at Straits for dinner on a Saturday night around 10pm. In my opinion, it was a bit dark but I know that's the vibe as they were playing music and people were dancing. The food was good! This is what we ordered: Garlic fries: 4/5 Calamari: 3/5 Roti: 5/5 Noodles: 5/5 Definitely will be back to try their HH.

Yelp
Hip, happening place with amazing dishes. The night we went the service was slow because the restaurant was packed. Loved dining with 4 of us because we were able to try multiple dishes Drinks, appetizers, and entrees were all delicious! We would love to come back and try more items on the menu.

Yelp
We came on a weekday evening (Wednesday dinner), so there unfortunately wasn't a DJ playing but no wait which was amazing since we had a large group. Loved the ambiance and the garlic noodles but the portion was extremely small for what we paid in my opinion, especially since I split it with someone else. Waiters were super nice (the main guy taking care of us gave us a free scoop of ice cream with a candle because it was my friends birthday!) but were also a little hard to get a hold of.

Yelp
Great late dinner spot with excellent service and tasty dishes. We came at 9:30pm, music was a bit loud due to the DJ, but expected at that hour. Lighting is dim but much better than our visit two years ago, table lamps make it easy to read the menu. Food: Shrimp Cocktail: 10/10 - the kaffir lime aioli is incredible. Shaking Filet Mignon: 8/10 - flavorful, though heavy on the salad. Lychee Panna Cotta: 9/10 - creamy and pairs perfectly with the yuzu sorbet. Drinks: Had a Pinot and their Smash (with tequila instead of whiskey), surprisingly great combo. Service was top-notch 10/10. Host and manager Cin checked on us many times during our visit and everything ran smoothly. Pangea, our server did great for her training shift. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Returned to straits to sample the more exuberant side of the lively eatery. We sat in the dining area then moved to the lounge to emulate a younger individuals lifestyle and was happily treated to an excellent experience. Went around 10 pm, was jovially enjoying my time among the ambiance thanks to our server Pangia. She made excellent recommendations was energetic and kind. She was timely in terms of drink and food delivery, happy to attend to our needs and ensure our experience was top notch.

Yelp
Had shaking filet mignon followed by fried banana for dessert. Meat was so juicy and tender and dessert was really delicious. 10 out of 10 service is always a top notch ,atmosphere was really good They have a DJ after nine.

Yelp
Food here I believe is Singaporean style, very delicious and spicy. I don't know if they can adjust the spice level because the menu was already set for the luncheon celebration for my nephew's MBA graduate. Straits accommodated all of us, about 50 people including little todlers and kids. The service was outstanding as well as the food. The ambience can be formal, but can be very casual too. Parking is free for the first 2 hours in Santana Row Mall.

Yelp
This isn't my first time eating in this restaurant but the first time with family. The outdoor seating is perfect for our large group. The service is always great here! Moreso that we have a big group. They have enough staff to take care of us! I love coming here for the food! The Asian fusion style is perfect! They had food that caters to all ages. The kids liked it too! Just a caution, food is a bit spicy
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! Been here twice and both times had a great time. The food is amazing, vibe is great, and Santana row offers parking so this is an easy choice for us.

Yelp
We came for happy hour , around 5pm on a Thursday. There was no wait when we came! The happy hour menu is pretty good with a good variety and the portions/prices were fair. We ordered almost everything on the happy hour menu. It was all super good! I loved the fried cauliflower and chicken skewers. The poke nachos didn't have enough poke on them. Service was good and we were always checked on to see how we were doing or if we needed anything else. Great HH spot!

Yelp
Came here for happy hour during the weekday. Sad that they were already out of oysters by the time we were there, ~5pm on a Wednesday. Nonetheless, we ordered the following: -roti prata - this was yummy, crispy roti with a yellow dipping curry -straits frites - can never go wrong with fries. Came with some aioli and ketchup -crispy califlower - exactly like it sounds, crispy califlower with some aioli dipping sauce -crispy chicken lollipops - we thought this was ok, the sambal flavoring was a bit much -satay chicken sticks - comes 3-4 pieces with a dipping sauce. This was delicious. -straits poke nachos - house made chips with tuna bits and imitation crab with an avocado spread. This was alright for us. -garlic noodles - simple, a little greasy but it is garlic noodles. Overall, some food items were better than others. Service was good, the servers kept coming around to check on us often and refilled our waters multiple times. It was a nice day to sit outside and enjoy the weather and people watch.

Yelp
Ambiance 5/5 Service 4/5 Food 4.5/5 Value 5/5 Yesterday a friend and I popped in and were delighted to partake in a Happy Hour menu on a Sunday afternoon! The weather was lovely and the indoors opened fully to the outdoors. We sat inside adjacent to the bar in a low table with excellent people watching. We were quickly greeted by a staff member who were all dressed very nicely, a small detail not seen everywhere. We never felt rushed and the drinks and food were great. We had mango, $10 tequila spritz which were initially a bit sweet and our server whisked away and remade to a perfect cocktail to enjoy. We had the $6 garlic fries. Perfect not greasy, crisp and wonderful. We also had the $9 chicken lollipops: 3 wonderful chicken drummettes cooked and spiced perfect. Overall, great experience, excellent value. Don't pass go, especially during happy hour. We'll definitely return

Yelp
** This is a review for the drinks at the bar, and nothing else ** Soooo good. Normally, I'm not a big drinker since ya girl is allergic... BUT, when in Santana Row... and it's 5 PM, had to get myself a lil drinkity drink. The squad and I got different drinks to share. I got a mocktail since I wanted to not look like Larry the Lobster by the end of it, but I did enjoy taking sips of everyone else's drinks. Everything was amazing, definitely no complaints here. Some drinks were STRONG, so I'm glad I had the Moonlit Lily as a palette cleanser. Only rating my drink since I don't remember the tastes of the others too well Moonlit Lily - 9/10 - Stunning presentation and color, amazing lychee flavor. Perfect balance between tart and sweet.
google avatar

Charlene C.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour! Tried the crispy cauliflower. It was super delicious. We also had calamari and salt and pepper wings. It was definitely vibe on a Thursday night. Shout out to Cassie for taking care of us!
google avatar

Nikita K.

Yelp
Straits always has a really nice ambiance inside and the service is good. I always get the sweet corn fritter as an appetizer, it's really good and goes well with the chili sauce it comes with. I got the mango mocktail drink but didn't really like it much though it was pretty and came with whipped cream on top. I usually get the pad Thai as a main course but tried the garlic noodles this time and will not be getting it again. I feel it lacked flavor and I've definitely had better tasting garlic noodles at other places. I got the vanilla ice cream sundae for dessert and it was really good. It went well with the coconut flakes and pecans and syrup.

Yelp
As a first timer, I had no idea what to expect, but then I met Ash. Not only was he as courteous as he looks, he recommended the best drink that I have had so far! (I'm so happy to know that he is the manager because he knows exactly what you need)! I can personally vouch that the lychee martini recommended by Ash is the best and strongest drink to start & close your tab with! Thank you so much to Ash for recommending more drinks as well! Specially the top shelf tequilas that I have never tried before ! Don't be afraid to ask because you'll be surprised to find out that you have been missing out on a lot of drinks your entire life !
google avatar

Yelp
This place has been a go to spot for girls dinner for years. Drinks are strong, music is good (but loud, we usually opt to sit on their outside patio). Stand out dish tonight was the garlic noodles w/ beef. And loved our server Sean he was the best!

Yelp
Great taste good service dance club atmosphere. Not a speak easy, bumping music. Favorites: Mee Goreng, shaken beef, ribeye, honey walnut prawns, Taro brûlée. Each dish was unique and flavorful. Excellent job Straits!

Erron E.

Yelp
Our dinner at Straits was nothing short of exceptional. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance--warm, stylish, and welcoming from the moment we stepped in. What truly made the evening stand out was the service. Maggie, our server, was absolutely fantastic. She was kind, attentive, and helpful with whatever we needed.

Audrey D.

Yelp
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Straits on Santana Row truly delivers a Michelin-quality experience from start to finish. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are all exceptional. We were warmly welcomed by the manager, Kim, who is not only hilarious but clearly passionate about the menu. She shared how much thought and care goes into each dish -- including trying 20 different versions of the egg coffee dip to make sure it matched the original in Vietnam. That level of dedication really shows. Our servers, Enrique and Megan, were attentive and friendly throughout the meal, checking in often and making sure we had everything we needed. As for the food -- every dish blew us away. The black pepper garlic rib eye was my favorite: incredibly tender, packed with umami, and paired with rice and corn that soaked up every drop of the flavorful glaze. I would honestly order it again just for the rice. We also tried the garlic noodles with shrimp (hands down the best garlic noodles I've ever had), the rich and comforting laksa, and the banana leaf salmon with mango salad -- all equally impressive. Don't skip dessert! The lychee panna cotta and mango kulfi float were both light, refreshing, and perfect for a summer day. To top it all off, Straits is very dog-friendly. We sat on the shaded patio with our little Maltese and they treated him like a VIP -- bringing out water, a puppacino, and even unseasoned chicken just for him. We will absolutely be coming back -- and bringing all our friends. Straits is a gem!

Yelp
Fun place on Santana Row for dinner -- very nightclub ambiance with neon signs, cool lights, and a lounge area. We walked in around 5:30pm on a Saturday and were lucky to grab a table for 4 right away. We ordered the poke nachos and roti prata for starters; the poke nachos were disappointingly underwhelming in portion size -- and the cross-cut chips weren't my favorite since they got soggy easily -- but the tuna was delicious (though very sparse). The roti was very well done. For four people, we also split the hainan chicken and beef rendang since the filet mignon ran out. We ordered extra medium sides of jasmine and hainan chicken rice but didn't realize the hainan chicken already comes with rice so we could have just done with one extra side of rice. Very happy with both entrees; the chicken is well prepared. The beef had some tough spots but overall pretty good; the pandan polenta was fantastic contrast with the spice. I also tried the pandan cream soda and liked it a lot. Service was great and very attentive and we appreciated that someone was around to clear plates and fill glasses of water very readily. Overall on the pricey side but fun for a night out.

Yelp
I came here yesterday for a group dinner. The vibe in here is kind of confusing- I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a restaurant or a nightclub (it might depend on the day/time). On a Wednesday at 7pm, the restaurant was almost empty and the hostesses didn't have the table ready even though we had a reservation. The hostesses were also in tiny dresses that were giving bottle service vibes, so maybe people come here for clubbing later in the evening? Our waiters were very attentive and came by often to refill our waters and clear empty dishes. We ordered a variety of dishes like the egg fried rice, chicken skewers, butter chicken, pad thai, samosas, and more. Everything was fine but nothing stood out as great. Overall I don't think I'd come back, but if you're looking for a nightclub it might be for you (if it is one?)

Yelp
Really nice ambiance, feels like club vibes with a DJ. We didn't have to wait for a table surprisingly for a Friday night we were sat right away. Food is delicious! We ordered the roti, crispy cauliflower, beet salad, bone marrow, fried banana, and vanilla creme brûlée (but was brought ube creme brûlée). The crispy cauliflower was so good! Loved the seasoning and crisp it had, the dipping sauce was tasty with a little kick of spice! The roti curry sauce was nice light and flavorful. The best was the beet salad was so refreshing and all the ingredients really blended well. Loved the desserts, we were brought the wrong creme brûlée but we didn't send it back and decided to give it a try and we really liked it, i always loved creme brûlée's but with ube flavor thats top notch level. Food came super fast, and at first everyone was attentive, but then we got our last dish and no one came by to check on us, all our drinks were empty for a long time, bunch of empty plates on our table, we sat for 30 minutes waiting for someone, my sister tried to wave someone down but no one came. So she had to go to the hostess stand to ask if someone can give us the check. We wouldn't have mind sitting waiting for our check if we had drinks but no one came by to even ask for refills. A different server came to help us, gave us our check so my sister gave her residents card when he left to get that adjusted our original server finally came and asked if we needed the check.. he didn't even know what was going on, he only took our order and that was it, he had such a dull personality with no people skills at all. The food here is great, but service definitely needs work. My sister lives above and comes here often she said they always forget about you, but the food and drinks makes up for it.

Yelp
Solid spot, good food, good vibes, and a nice patio. Pangeaa was our server and she was amazing. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
This was our second stop for food and drinks for the evening. Ambience is modern and vibe is cozy when you are away from live music and lively when you are close to it. Our server Sean C was cheerful and energetic. He clearly understood that some of the members of our party were drunk and he kept things smooth and handled the interactions pretty well. Kudos to him and how he adapted to the vibe of our table. We ordered 3 lychee Martinee and one expresso martini. Lychee martinis were hit but expresso martini was not that great. He happily took it back. Let's talk about the food. We ordered fried rice and garlic noodles and asked our server to suggest for some vegetarian dishes. He suggested spicy street noodles. Omg those were so good. Wish their portions are little bigger. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back.

Yelp
This place is fine... Portion sizes are very low and prices are very high! And service was kinda slow but staff were friendly. The sauce that came with the roti prata was crazy addicting. The fried rice lacked flavor but adding the roti sauce fixed it right up.

Yelp
3.5 STARS Hello, $28 Weekend Prime Rib w/ coconut pandan mashed potatoes! IMO, the Singaporean/Malay food at Straits is not it (overpriced and mid at best) but their new prime rib deal was worth a revisit. And, it didn't disappoint: https://tinyurl.com/4pckzc8c The 6 oz prime rib is deliciously tender and moist (rare = medium rare). Beefy and not oversalted. The mashed potatoes had good tropical coconut-ty flavor, creamy and chunky. Didn't care for the achar that tasted like sweet satay instead of acidic, the hella salty gravy, and the sambal horseradish that's more of an aioli but hey, you can't have to it all for only $28. After trying one bite of the prime rib, we quickly ordered another round. So yea, def worth the re-visit! To Management: The restroom IS in desperate need of a remodel, it doesn't match the trendy club vibes. It's eeeeck and reminds me of deserted rest stop...all that was missing is a gl*ry h*le. O T H E R I N F O: * Prime Rib deal available Saturday + Sunday starting at 11 am until sold out. Around 5:30 pm on Saturday, they were already low. * Happy Hour: Monday - Friday 3 pm - 6 pm (lounge only), Wednesday - Thursday 9 pm - close (main dining + lounge), Sunday 12 pm - 4 pm: $2 oysters + bottomless mimosas. * Rezzies on Tock. We made one but didn't need it. Straits isn't as crowded as other restos on The Row. * Most of the staff are great, the hostess (AZN brunette in club attire) and our server, Tyler were awesome! * Dog-friendly (front and side patio). Choose the side patio for a more quiet meal. * The new pay for parking system at The Row is confusing and flawed. Free for the first 2 hours and $2 per an hour thereafter. We had to pay twice before the gate lifted.

Yelp
Enrique and Orellio gave excellent service. Enrique goes over and beyond, is helpful as he can be. Professional, kind, and patient. We had some school / meeting obligations and Enrique was kind enough to let us use the area / table longer. Having Enrique's service was the best part of the experience at Straits. Hope one day I can eat here all the time.

Yelp
Went here for a seven year anniversary dinner with my girlfriend and it so worth it! Travis made us feel completely taken care of and gave us food recommendations . Brian made our amazing drinks and Xinh made us feel so welcomed. We ordered Crispy chicken "lollipops" - sweet and so much meat come in 3s Straits burger - perfect medium good portion and taste amazing. Can't go wrong Pad Thai - just like in Thailand And TWO COMPLIMENTARY DRINKS from Brian! I love the food but I would come back for Travis and Brian

Yelp
I've been to Straits many, many times for happy hour and sometimes for late-night drinks. Their happy hour menu is pretty decent, with drinks and bar menu options. We decided to come here for their brunch, but we weren't too impressed with the menu. Fortunately, our waiter told us about their prime rib weekends! For only $28, it comes with mashed potatoes and veggies. We both decided to get it. The prime rib was pretty good. The mashed potatoes were okay, but the veggies were alright; they were cold. The horseradish was a disappointment, as there was no kick at all. :/ I probably won't get their prime rib again. I'll definitely come back for happy hour, though! and the triple chocolate mousse bomb was super delicious.

Yelp
I have been coming to Straits for many many years. The ambience is amazing. Music and vibe is great. Food - quality and quantity have significantly come done. Like really really down. Garlic noodles were still great. But corn fritters, chicken yellow curry, were so so small in size now. Chicken satay - were like one bite stuff now!! I am not sure are they decreasing the food or the experience at Straits. For me it was latter.

Yelp
I tried the Mango Tequila Sprite and loved it, light, fruity, and refreshing without being too sweet. Great drink to pair with the bold flavors of the food. Their happy hour menu is such a good deal, and the service was fast and friendly. Straits has a great energy, casual, fun, and really relaxing after a long day of work

Yelp
I was pretty excited to try Singaporean food since there's not much in the area. I went at 1 pm on a weekend for brunch and there was no wait. For their brunch menu, I tried the Pandan Soda, Thai Tea Toast and a Breakfast Plate. The drink was really good, with a nice pandan flavor that wasn't too sweet. The toast was interesting with some corn flakes for the texture and thai tea flavor. I do wish there was a bit more ube flavor with the condensed milk, and price was high for the portions. The Breakfast Plate was also pricey for the portions, and tasted a bit bland. Both dishes felt very heavy and it was more like Asian fusion food rather than Singaporean. While we were eating dinner, someone randomly went around to each table to take a picture, and then printed the photo out to sell. The lighting was bad in the photo and it felt a bit unsettling as she didn't tell us who she was, or what the picture was for. Felt like a scam, and a bit weird that the restaurant would hire someone, or let someone roam around to do this. Overall with the experience, mediocre food, small portions, and high prices, I would rate this at 2.75/5, rounding up to a 3.

Yelp
Came her when my parents were visiting. The place was busy every day they were there so we had to try it out. The space seemed more like a club/bar than a restaurant. Our experience overall was good, probably not worth the high bill we got at the end. Our favorite was the lemongrass beef. The dipping sauce paired with it was amazing. Super flavorful. The butterfish was okay. Not worth the hefty price. We also got curry which was pretty good. A little too soupy for our preference. The drinks were good too. Expect my father got an old fashion and it came with crushed ice instead of the fancy ice. The desserts were decent. Sadly mango isn't in season so it was sour. I do recommend the mango sticky rice over the cake.

Yelp
This is the only Singaporean restaurant in the South Bay . We went in for small bites . Service was great . Ambiance gives off a high end lounge look. Food was ok and decent . We ordered two of each since we had a large crowd . The beef rendang was huge and tender to eat . Popcorn chicken wings were delish and savory . Nasi goreng rice was still wet . Hainanese chicken and rice were not yellow . No sesame oil or turmeric powder were used . At least I didn't taste it . Other than that it was great !

Yelp
Went there last night for a celebratory night with coworkers. Had an amazing time, and had delicious food and drinks, their happy hour is so worth it, and their entrees were delicious as well. Shout out to Graham the bartender, who gave us excellent service and went above and beyond to take care of us. Thanks Graham! We also appreciated the manager Kim who checked on us throughout the night, made sure we had everything we needed and had some really good suggestions for us. The ambiance was really fun but chill at the same time. So classy! Will definitely be back soon, 100% recommend.

Yelp
Ripoff. Bad food . Small quantities. Bad service. Dirty tables. Don't waste your time and money. Used to be a great place. Desserts are a joke. The crème brûlée is as tiny as a table spoon. Really disappointing and felt ripped off.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick drink. Stayed for the service. DERRICK IS THE BEST! From the moment I walked in I was greeted warmly. He made great recommendations and would definitely be back just for his hospitality!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Straits f or a while now, and I finally got the chance to go with a few friends. We sat out on the front patio, which is perfect for a relaxed vibe and people watching! Our server, Pangea, was fantastic and gave great recommendations. She was super friendly, easy to chat with and made us feel at home. We loved the garlic noodles and lemongrass steak--both were packed with flavor, and honestly, no dish disappointed. Since we don't drink, we opted for their mocktails, the moon lit lily and virgin mojito which were both delicious. Overall, I'm really thrilled with my experience at Straits and will definitely be returning soon!
