Strawn's was busy and I was from out of town and just needed a quick to go order. I walked up to the checkout and they were able to take my order and before I had a chance to really look around it was already ready. The Fried Chicken special for the day was excellent and the chicken fried steak had an excellent flavor but was a perfectly round steak which was not appetizing to look at. The house dressing on the salad was very good. The strawberry pie was very good as well but some of the strawberries still had green on top. Overall, I will definitely be back.

Google
Stanwn’s is as close as it gets to a good southern homemade breakfast. Super simple and always hits the spot. I had the Hungry Man plate, it was delicious from start to finish…and I wrapped it up with their famous strawberry pie. Can’t go wrong here, the food and service is great.

Google
Made it a point to stop back by here on my way home from Lafayette to OKC. Have loved this place for over 20 years. Staff make it a hit too. I bought 3 strawberry pies and a chocolate pie to take home. Staff helped me with ice for my ice chest for the trip home. The family was so surprised and happy to have these!

Google
What gem of a place I found while stranded in town. Friendly staff, fun environment and some fantastic & tasty food. I can see how this is a local favorite. Make sure to visit for breakfast if you are in town, definitely worth it! ❤️❤️❤️

The hype is real! Such a nice family friendly atmosphere. The service is superior, the staff really takes care of you. The burger, fries, and coconut pie were all great; can't wait to come back and try the strawberry pie! We definitely want to try the daily lunch specials next time as well. This is what you call comfort food!

Google
Strawn's Eat Shop is a gem in Shreveport that serves up mouthwatering Southern classics. The chicken and dumplings are nothing short of amazing - comforting, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The star of the show, however, is their strawberry pie. It's quite possibly the best I've ever tasted, with a perfect balance of sweetness and fresh strawberry flavor that sets it apart from any other pie I've had. Don't miss out on their chicken fried steak either. It's delicious, with a crispy exterior and tender meat inside, just as it should be. Strawn's Eat Shop delivers an exceptional Southern dining experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's definitely worth a visit for their stellar comfort food and unforgettable strawberry pie.

Google
Great local spot! We went for breakfast. I appreciated how much personality Strawn's has. It's a place that knows and owns what it is and does what it does very well. The breakfast was delicious. The build-your-own omelet was wonderful, and we devoured the pancake. Even though it was 7 am, they had strawberry pie. I got a piece to-go, and it was lovely.

Google
We were passing through town heading home from our cross country road trip. I googled someplace to eat; Strawn's caught my eye. They had good ratings and looked like a good local/neighborhood establishment. We prefer to dine at local rather than chain establishments. Anyway, it was Sunday at about 1 p.m. and the place was packed! (That is a good sign!) We were greeted at the door and told to sit anywhere. We sat and were immediately greeted by the server, we chatted for a bit. She did not rush us, even though the place was buzzing like a bee hive with the "after church crowd." We asked for recommendations, and we ordered. Our food arrived quickly, hot and exactly as we ordered, and was GOOD. This is a five star local establishment because of the friendly, fast service, environment, choices and quality. I recommend Strawn's and would eat there again.

Yelp
A neighborhood favorite!! Anytime I come in town I have to make a stop at Strawn's. The pies are amazing, but my favorite is the coconut pie.

Yelp
This place is a no frills diner that gets the job done if you're craving some breakfast food. They have a variety of reasonably-priced options for breakfast (note: lunch menu starts at 11a or 12p) The sandwich doesn't look like much, but it does taste pretty decent. Maybe it's the soft toasted hamburger bun or the sausage or egg, but it was better than it appeared. They have some icebox pies that we didn't get a chance to try because we were too full, but otherwise this place is a decent option for breakfast. Waitstaff was nice and attentive. Worth a stop if you're looking for a home-y atmosphere!

Yelp
We were in town visiting one of the casinos and decided that we wanted to grab breakfast. I found them place due to the high ratings and I'm so glad that we decided to give it a shot! You do have to drive through some not so great neighborhoods/areas to get here from the casinos but don't let that stop you! The interior of the restaurant gives you old time-y diner vibes. The walls are all painted and you can tell that a lot of the customers are regulars here. I ordered the two eggs breakfast and my husband got the hungry man breakfast. There was so much food between us and we didn't finish it all but that didn't stop us from trying some of their famous pies! We got the strawberry pie after our waitress told us that was their most popular one and it was delicious! Overall, we enjoyed our breakfast and time at this restaurant! If you're visiting in Shreveport, don't pass this up!

Yelp
Food is just average but the customer service is great! It's quite crowded most of the time - famous for their strawberry pie (for some reason?)
google avatar

Yelp
This place is so overrated. It's literally just bland and basic. Go to Southfield grill instead.
google avatar

Charby O.

Yelp
This was the best to go lunch ever! Bacon cheeseburger with fries.....amazing and it really hit the spot on my busy Friday at work, so great

Roxy R.

Yelp
We were told about how good this was going to be and we were not disappointed. Anytime your are in Shreveport you must go!
google avatar

Brian V.

Yelp
This place is still doing it right after all these years. Cheeseburgers and Chocolate Pie never disappoint . Service is constantly good and the wall murals remind me of home. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Cute breakfast joint to stop in if you're in town. Solid standard American breakfast joint, had a homey feel to it. The grits were watery and flavorless, but otherwise the food was definitely worth the prices. Device was quick, and you pay at the door, so no need to wait for your waiter.
google avatar

Yelp
First time going to this old fashion famous eatery. You seat yourself and a server comes to you. We had great service and our waitress was friendly and attentive. We had the grilled chicken sandwich and fries. The chicken sandwich was really good and the fries were ok, could have been fried longer. We also tried the 2 stack pancakes and those were very tasty! They are famous for their pies but we were too full to try so we will be returning! Great place for family and or friends! Remind you of an old fashion diner!

Lana A.

Yelp
We had appointment in Shreveport yesterday, I recommend Strawn's to my sister & Dad for lunch after appt. For $13. Lunch specials, the food definitely wasn't worth the price. Shredded iceberg lettuce with the smallest amount of tomato I've EVER seen in a salad was served with our "lunch special", Chicken fried steak tasted like a Banquet frozen steak, mashed potatoes & gravy were cold. Guy at cash register on his phone and barely spoke to us when we entered and continued playing on his phone as he said "just sit anywhere". Won't be back, definitely learned our lesson.

Luke A.

Yelp
Loved this place! The food and service was great, but the highlight for me was the frozen strawberry pie!

Melissa W.

Yelp
I come to have a taste of home and always enjoy a piece of strawberry pie. So perfect and fresh. Staff is a bit short but that seems to be everywhere these days.

Yelp
We had the most amazing lunch here. We stopped off when we were in town on a road road trip. The servers could not have been more welcoming to us and our two boys. Mr Strawn himself even came to say hello! We had the chicken fried steak which was very tasty and a huge serving. Lovely sides of Lima beans and salad. I really liked the white gravy. We also tried the famous strawberry pie. It more than lived up to its reputation! Our boy called it happy cake it was so delicious, mum and dad agree! Only downside is we aren't local and can't come back. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

Shanerous L.

Yelp
Great feel to the place. nice little local hole-in the wall diner feel, yet homy and you can feel the history in the place.

Yelp
Come for the breakfast, stay for the pie! 2-meat omelet: overstuffed and delicious; side of grits was perfect. Chocolate pie: very chocolaty and delicious. Banana pie: not pudding, just full of perfectly ripe bananas and a giant heap of whipped cream. Biscuits: melt in your mouth yummy. Waitstaff: amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was good not great. I asked for crispy bacon and got 2 hot seconds away burnt bacon. 1 waitress taking care of a whole restaurant. Granted my visit was during the middle of the week but still that's a lot for one person At 9 AM there was no biscuits which is what I really wanted to taste. Sad and weird. Waitress despite being a one woman show was very nice polite and made sure I was OK.

Carol Z.

Yelp
i swear on baby Jesus... this place has the best dang pancakes I have ever eaten. I don't even like pancakes. Grits were great, eggs were alright. loved the waitress she was amazing and sassy. loved her!
google avatar

Monie G.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast. The food is pretty traditional but everything was cooked perfectly. The server was super friendly and we enjoyed the experience. We'll have to try their famous pie on our next visit.
google avatar

Bobbie S.

Yelp
Wonderful service. Everything we had was a winner. Bring your insulated bag to bring pie home!
google avatar

Yelp
Comfort food at a local Shreveport cafe, known widely at the best place to get #pie. Fantastic sandwiches, burgers, all-day breakfast and daily entree specials. Get on out there.
google avatar

Lori R.

Yelp
Service was excellent! Strawberry pie was excellent! There are my 2 stars. The building is run down and not easy to get to. Old diner vibe. The lunch special was chicken & dumplings, Lima beans, salad & cornbread. First two bites into the chicken & dumplings I about broke a tooth on bones. This does indicate that they cook fresh chicken but not appetizing. The dumplings were ok not great. Lima beans were absolutely awful. Salad was literally a handful of shredded lettuce they use on their burgers with 2 tiny tomatoes. If you're in the mood for pie, go for it. Maybe try a burger?
google avatar

Judy W.

Yelp
We had the Tuesday lunch specials. I had chicken fried steak, hubby had chicken and dumplings. Enjoyed the sides! I usually would not eat Lima beans, but it came with the special. They had ham in them and were delicious. The okra & tomatoes were good. The chicken fried steak was tender and without any gristle. Waitresses were fast & friendly, but loud. Coconut pie was good, but a cream topping, not meringue. Murals about the history of the cafe were painted on 3 walls.

Yelp
I got the big boy breakfast or something like that and it included eggs, bacon, biscuit, pancakes and some grits or hash browns I think. I added some white gravy for the biscuit and blueberries inside the pancakes but my best decision was adding strawberries and homemade whipped cream to the outside of my pancakes. It was my favorite pancakes ever and everything else was delicious too. With coffee and maybe some juice and tip it was about $25-$30 and worth it. They gave me so much whipped cream that I had enough for my coffee and I even had some leftovers in case I got hungry on my way home.
google avatar

Robin L.

Yelp
Grits were not cooked still slightly crunchy. Eggs cooked perfectly along with my crisp but not burnt bacon and good biscuits. Wait staff was great. Coffee was good but I am a grit girl so I was disappointed.

Kim S.

Yelp
Excellent lunch plate and burgers. Good old-fashioned cafe type atmosphere and great service.

Yelp
Recommended to us while visting Shreveport and boy we were not steered wrong. SO impressed with this place. We were told to get breakfast and their famous strawberry icebox pie so that's what we did. And no exaggeration: this is the best chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs, and pie we've EVER HAD. Seriously. I am going to be dreaming about it for a while. This is just everything a diner should be - amazing food and service, quirky interior, eclectic crowd. Hopefully we can come back someday. One caveat: our breakfast potatoes were undercooked (and I mean undercooked) when she first brought our plates. But it doesn't diminish my review because when I pointed it out, she was very quick to get us new batches and those were crispy and delicious, so all was forgiven.
google avatar

Yelp
Good ole home cooked meal. There was only 1 cook for the whole place but he was fast. Remind us of cooking the ole way.
google avatar

Robby S.

Yelp
Pies are incredible, grilled cheese with ham took grilled cheese to a whole new level. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This place fucks hard I mean damn sometimes you find gold this place is an absolute animal of a meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Food and service is great! Stopped by for a quick bite to eat for breakfast. The biscuit was warm and fresh, and the dishes we ordered was delicious.

Emily C.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in Shreveport! It's always good food and good service. They have the absolute best strawberry pie!!! If you're looking for a place to eat in Shreveport, you should definitely stop in!

Brian S.

Yelp
Food at Strawns is alway great. This is usually our go to breakfast place whenever we're in the Shreveport area. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They're usually crowded so you might have to wait a bit.

Tom M.

Yelp
One of a kinda, food like mama makes it great home-cooked great vegetables. The breakfast is delicious. Services is always good. There's no place as good . Got go try lunch our breakfast you will be back. We always go to the one on Airline in bossier is close to home.
google avatar

Taylor S.

Yelp
Very yummy breakfast and friendly staff. Fun location too! Note that there is more parking in the back lot!

Yelp
Day two of our trip we stumbled and bumbled through Bossier City. Strawn's Eat Shop was highly recommended on Yelp. So hello breakfast! A busy bustling dining room told us we hit the spot. Waitresses slinging plates furiously. We sat ourselves. Murals all over the walls of historical and cartoon characters. Their breakfast is served all day. I ordered the Hungry Man, two eggs, bacon, grits, pancakes, and toast. Wife ordered the same. The meals were delivered within 10 minutes by a saucy waitress named Karen. She stealthily refilled my coffee cup twice and I never saw it happen. Karen was on top of it; no wonder, she had been there since 2001. The meal was perfect. The portions were large so be prepared or split it. All the waitresses had a t-shirt that said #Pie. Karen said they served, Strawberry, Chocolate, and Boston Cream pies. We ordered the strawberry and the Boston Cream. The crust was the best part. So buttery and tasty. The strawberries were fresh and sweet. The Boston Cream was ordered to-go for my daughter so I didn't try it. The Hungry Man had met his match with this guy. Karen delivered a perfect performance and we compensated her handsomely. If you are in town and want a solid meal with excellent customer service, this is the place. Bon appetit Yelpers!

Yelp
We went there with a party of 14. The food was okay but nothing special. Service was terrible. Ordered coconut pie when I put In my entree order just to make sure I had my pie. When it came time to have dessert, she said that they ran out and she was sorry. This was very irritating. Five people in our party ordered fried chicken. Four orders came in about 25 minutes but the fifth order came in 25 minutes after that. To be honest the pies are not much than fresh strawberries with some sugar glaze topped with cool whip. The waitress was very friendly but just not efficient. I know the kids orders had a few issues as well. Maybe the other location is actually better. Unless you need to eat breakfast before 7 am there are many other choices. I must admit the breakfast was average but don't expect to have any pie's ready.
google avatar

Kenneth A.

Yelp
Best breakfast place in town. Everything on the menu is good. High end diner food. Just like mama makes.

Teresa C.

Yelp
Service was good. Food was good. Service was quick family owned business close to LSU Oschner hospital and doctors offices.

Lauren W.

Yelp
Great food and service! Such a cute place! Will definitely come back and recommend to others! The Disney painted wall was so cute as well!
google avatar

Charley B.

Yelp
The hospitality here was wonderful - the staff was very nice and makes you feel at home. I ordered the fried chicken lunch special which comes with a delicious cakey cornbread and 3 sides. I only wanted 2 sides - I subbed the pinto beans for the Mac and cheese per the waitress and tried the mustard greens. Portion size was great- i thought the chicken was a bit too salty, but the mustard greens lacked flavor so it helped balance it out. I also tried the peach ice box pie- it's like eating a bowl of cold fruit and cream- perfect for a summer day. I would return for the pie and to try their meatloaf and other items on the menu. The burgers seemed to be the most popular
google avatar

Adele Q.

Yelp
Nothing fancy, just good country diner type food. The wait staff really hustles so not a long wait for food like you would think for how busy they were. We had the days lunch special and they allowed some simple substitutions which surprised me. Hubby said chicken fried steak was excellent. He also had coconut cream pie for dessert. It was good but not the best. My fried chicken was good but again, not the best. If you are looking for good comfort food, this is a good option. We would stop again if in the area.
google avatar

Seth L.

Yelp
The food was below average. The biscuits should not be called biscuits. They should be called a greasy dense bread roll. The "hashbrowns" are just uncooked cubes of potatoes. The bacon was good and the eggs were good. And the service was really good. For $15, I want more thanaverage eggs and bacon.

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Food was good and well priced. Waitress took really good care of us, and we were able to walk right in and sit down on a Saturday morning. Environment is super family friendly.
google avatar

Danniella O.

Yelp
Food was great, ambiance was good for the kids and even us adults as we had fun looking at the murals. Service was a little messy with no assigned waiter or waitress at the table but someone was still taking care of us which was good
google avatar

Clara G.

Yelp
I love this place I came Saturday ordered the Chicken Fried Steak it was delicious. I came today Tuesday for the Chicken & Dumplings very good and the staff is awesome I love this place I recommend it to everyone don't miss out
google avatar

Bryandt D.

Yelp
Cool restaurant is Shreveport. We stopped by on the way to New Orleans. I ordered the 2 egg breakfast and my gf ordered the hungry man breakfast. Both of them were good and hit the spot. Nothing spectacular. I also made sure to check-in on Yelp to get a free ice box pie. This was actually pretty good. Whatever seasoning they put on these really added to the flavor. The service was great and the staff is friendly.
google avatar

Shelia W.

Yelp
Their pies have had great reviews & just had to try it. It was good ! (The strawberry slice)
google avatar

Yelp
In August 2021, only one employee was wearing a mask and it was around her throat. Last I heard, there was still a pandemic going on. Parking in front or in back. Keep your eye out because it is easy to miss this while driving. This is a seat yourself kind of place which I normally don't like but a friend of mine has been pestering me to try this place whenever I come to Shreveport for work. I came just after noon. They were out of biscuits, but I saw them serve someone else biscuits who had come in after me. The French toast was good. Bacon was amazing. And that strawberry ice box pie was the absolute best. I might try a different location my next trip to the area because that pie was freaking amazing.
