Great addition to the west side of town. Right off Charlotte, Streetcar is a fun, vibey, vintagey spot to grab a drink or a bite with friends, kids, or canines. It's brand new (Feb '23), so they're still working out some kinks, but all things considered, Streetcar is ready for and worth a visit.
We didn't try too much of the menu, but everything we tasted was quite good. We tried the bread and butter, wagyu sliders, and French fries.
Price: I wouldn't use the words "great value" when describing the pricing. As you can see in menu photos, nothing is cheap. The food is higher quality, so one could make the argument that the food prices are justified. Still, we found it difficult to wrap our heads around $10 for bread and butter (even though their house-made butter is scrumptious).
There are not currently any happy hours here. I was told they haven't even started talking about a HH yet as they want to get a feel for their customers and their habits first. I can understand this, but I would recommend initiating some kind of HH sooner than later.
Vibe: excellent. Inside is a renovated-vintage-industrial-brick aesthetic and the rear outdoor area is lovely. Lots of tables, seating, umbrellas, artificial turf, gravel, etc.
We interacted with several staff members and they were all friendly. Our server was still getting situated with her new ordering system and the menu, but all issues were rectified professionally.
Entry/parking notes: you can enter through the back gate instead of the front door if you'd like to -- just remember to close the gate well so no kids or dogs escape! The outdoor area is fairly well-suited for kids, though there are hazards, cement, hard objects, etc. (like virtually all places). There is some street parking around, though it's hit or miss finding a spot. We noticed some folks parked in a lot behind what appeared to be Rhino Booksellers, but I'm not sure if that's advisable or not. Another option would be to park across the street at Richland Park, where spaces are plentiful.
Note: to get from street level to the back beer garden area, you will need to descend concrete stairs. There is no ramp or elevator. With that in mind, if stairs are an issue, your best bet is to walk around the front and side sidewalk to the back of the building and rear gate entrance.
Streetcar is definitely worth a visit. While the menu/pricing probably won't lure us back, I expect that many folks will love their specialized food offerings. We intend to return -- especially if they get a happy hour going!
