The Best Breweries in Jacksonville, Florida | Eater Miami

"Strings Sports Brewery is a unique brewery in the heart of the Springfield historic district of Jacksonville. The family-friendly spot has plenty of games and food for kids to enjoy while adults kick back with a pint of cold beer. Each of the beers are named after an iconic sports reference like the Feel the Rhythm, Feel the Rhyme brew, a coconut porter based on the classic movie Cool Runnings. When Trevor Lawrence was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the first-round pick of the 2021 NFL draft, the brewery even made a Hazy IPA with the quarterback’s jersey number as the beer name, One Six."

I had a great time. Brought my 3 and 5 yr old, there were a couple little games for them to play (connect 4 and Jenga). Other kids were there too so I let them play while I watched the world cup game Good times. Full on this day. Sometimes my work comes by for happy hours, usually not too busy on weekdays. They have some food and beer, basically. Good times.

Stopped in after getting a coffee down the street, I'm impressed! It's definitely sports themed (duh) but not overwhelming for someone who isn't into sports. Super welcoming bartender, Will. Had some great recommendations for beer and certainly knew his stuff! Great place to stop in and visit while in JAX

Ordered Alabama White wing and fries. My husband order the Brisket Poutine. They hit it out of the park! Homemade ranch dressing. Beer cheese for dipping the fries. Definitely check this place out. TV’s everywhere to watch games. Live music certain nights as well. Oh, and they are a brewery. Several different beers and rotation of flavors.

Thursday my business partner invited me to Strings Sports Brewery. I quickly found it to be one of the best kept secrets in the city of Jacksonville. It is nearly impossible to compare their food, atmosphere, and their customer service to any other restaurant, brewery, or sports bar anywhere, because they are truly in a league of their own. Not only did we receive excellent customer service from the time that we walked in, Kaiti (one of the owners) came over to our table and introduced herself as well. (Talk about customer service at is finest). After letting her know just how much we enjoyed the food and service,, she then brought out the head chef so we could meet him as well. I love Strings! Kaiti had no Idea that we are owner of one of the fastest growing television networks in the country. Now its our mission help let everyone everywhere know about the exceptional service at Strings.... We are now customers for life!!!!! Thanks for all that you do!

Conveniently located blocks from my house sits yet another Springfield brewery on Main Street. This one comes with a sports theme and in house food! You can play basketball inside or video games and pinball inside. Not the best beer on the strip but it’s nice to have a food option in house. The outside sitting area makes the place!

Today I met a friend and past coworker at a restaurant I've passed by quite a few times. I saw them on a local news station about expanding. Issue is, I thought it's location near downtown Jacksonville would scare off some due to the past of yesteryears. I worked in area many years ago, but times change, for the better. Anyway, great clean and friendly customer service. Had two sections, one with tv's and other more traditional setting. Thursday is their 5.00 hamburger special where you can add on different side orders around 4.00 each. Worth it. We got there around 11:30 but by noon, many in attendance. A great surprise and clean and safe. Food was yummy!!!

Looking for a great sports bar and brewery and found Strings. What a great place to hang out and watch the games. The beer was extraordinary with a great variety to choose from. Our food was five star served hot and fresh. Bartenders and staff were friendly with a smile. Plenty of TVs and games to watch. I highly recommend Strings !

I stumbled upon this brewery and am glad I did! I was fortunate to find street parking right out front. I didn’t see a parking lot, so I assume parking is difficult during busier times. The place itself is HUGE. There is plenty of seating and TVs situated throughout. They have a decent variety of beers to choose from. I only tried one today, but was pleasantly surprised by the Ghost Runner Sour which is grape juice lemonade. It was super sour and I loved it! I also opted to try the wings. I ordered them naked and tried the Peruvian sauce and Alabama Sauce. I typically don’t like mayo based sauces but did like the Alabama sauce in small amounts (it wasn’t bad, just my preference). I really liked the Peruvian sauce, it was a little on the sweet side but tasted great on the wings! The bartender was super friendly and knowledgeable about their beer. It was nice chatting with him! Weird bonus, the bathroom were super clean! I’d definitely return!

Yelp
Delicous food and amazing beer selection! Great service- our beer server was very sweet and informative. Our food came out in lightning speed. We came during the weekday on Wednesday and service wasn't too packed. We ate all our food and didn't leave a crumb behind. My husband ordered a triple crown beer and I ordered a flight of string music, section 215c best kid on the block and South Paw (creamsicle). We also ordered wings, burger, brisket beer cheese fries and onion rings.

Yelp
I came to check the reviews after a pretty bummer experience and was shocked at the amount of really good reviews. Hoping this was just a bad day for them - I'll prob try once more to see - but here goes. I'll start with the good. The beer. I had a Red Caps Red Ale and it was decent. Nothing super special but not bad at all. That's where the good ends. I ordered a burger and could have gotten a better little hockey puck burger at McDonalds. And for cheaper. I will give credit for pretty fresh red onions. That was the best part of the whole meal. I also ordered hush puppies and they tasted like they were steeped in liquid smoke. No other flavor at all. I am not sure how to otherwise explain it - I am not saying they definitely used liquid smoke. Just that's the closest flavor experience I can use to describe. Additionally, the cashiers were both apathetic at best. And on that note, super weird you have to order food and drinks in separate spots in the restaurant. I had to wait in line twice.

Yelp
My wife and I live near St. Aug but we wanted to try a new spot. Springfield is pretty far but this place looked cool so we gave it a shot. We went to watch a Gator basketball game and forgot the NFL playoffs were on. The place was pretty full when we got there for an 8PM tipoff. I think the football game started at 730. It's a nice big open space with a bunch of TVs. There's at least 15 in the main room; probably more. I had 2 of the stouts. I don't remember what it was called. They also had the same stout with cold brew coffee but I try to stay away from the caffeine. My wife had the orange sour. She's not a beer drinker but she'll put one or two back. I think they have a 10oz so she had a couple of those. We also got the fries with beer cheese. We thought they were pretty good. A little peppery but good. We don't make it to Springfield often. If we're in the area and there's a game on or we want a drink, this'll be a good fall back.

Yelp
Strings is an awesome brewery! Hubby and I have been here several times. I love that they serve food. Nothing beats a brewery especially one with good food. Their beer is very tasty! I really enjoy getting a flight here since they have a couple beers I really like. No See Dee and Rookie Mistake are two of my favorites. Their BBQ is pretty good for a brewery. I really like their grilled chicken sandwich and Caesar salad. We've also taken home a few growers. Make sure to browse their case before you leave!

Yelp
Good beer, food and service. Enjoyed the smoked wings & the pretzel & beer cheese. My favorite was the smoked jalapeño hush puppies which was a special that day. I was also surprised at how spacious it was inside and I'm sure the outdoor area would be nice in the cooler months. Glad we lucked out with parking along the street close to the entrance.

Yelp
Super nice place with a wide variety of games. They have so many coolers covered in stickers which I dig. Pretty good beer too. It was a little crowded when we were there so the service was a little slow but there were a lot of customers with dogs which was fun! I would definitely check this place out again!

Yelp
Stopped for a beer so can only rate it on the 3 things that were part of our visit What we liked:' * amber red was a good cold beer * wings were lightly smoked and crisp, great flavor and dry rub. * service at the bar was cool and interactive. What could of been better: * more time to hang out and try more stuff. Got nothing bad to say or anything that could of been better

Yelp
Great food, awesome beer & great service. This place has tv's to watch your favorite games and the locals are very nice and welcoming.
google avatar

Yelp
Always love this bar. Great beer and even better food. Such a great venue to gather for a game.
google avatar

Janice B.

Yelp
If I could give this place 7 stars, I totally would. The wings were absolutely amazing. I have been wanting and craving some crispy chicken wings and I finally found my place! They marinate the wings overnight in sweet tea, then smoke the wings, then flash fry them to absolute perfection. The Alabama white sauce paired perfectly with them. Additionally, I had the Section 215 which is a blonde ale that Strings locally brew. We also had the poutine which is a BURST of flavors in your mouth and another must-try.

Sparky T.

Yelp
Excessive hi-top tables inside tolerated over the years but now no Rootbeer or Coke Zero so no return.
google avatar

Alison A.

Yelp
Always have a great experience at Strings! Love to support this local brewery. Our waitress was wonderful and food was great and out quickly. We can't wait for the penman location to open!
google avatar

Tara K.

Yelp
When you first walk in, order food at the counter to your right. Then get a beer at the bar to the left. I had a full Caesar salad and a cup of corn chowder. Corn chowder was tasty, but with a lot of pepper. Hubby got the BBQ platter with a Salad and Brussel sprouts. He enjoyed it all-I stole a Brussel sprout and it was VERY good and perfectly cooked! They always have a very good selection of craft beers, and lots of tvs to watch any game you want. They have a great outside patio area and the tables are beautiful! Everyone is always so welcoming, such a great place to get a bite to eat and a good quality craft beer. Took us about 10 min to get to the arena for the Icemen game.

Yelp
One of the largest breweries I've been to in Jacksonville. The wings with Alabama white sauce were delicious and you get 8 pieces. I also got fries too which were large. My friend also got wings with lemon pepper. The area had plenty of tvs and basketball, arcade, corn hole. It's a staple of Springfield
google avatar

Kayla H.

Yelp
Very spacious! They had plenty of seating inside and outside. The outside area was covered so you could still sit out there when it's raining. They had a great beer selection. I had the "String Music" lager and it was great. The service was quick and the staff were very friendly. They had multiple tv's going at once so we were able to watch the derby and F1 race. We did not try the food, unfortunately.

Mike H.

Yelp
This place was great. The food was really good. The chef made an "old fashioned" inspired smoked brownie which was delicious. Beer selection was great. They source food and ingredients from local suppliers which is very nice. Glad to see this part of town starting to turn around.
google avatar

Rachelle S.

Yelp
Loved coming to this brewery staff was so nice. There are two sides, one bar and one food. You can't eat or drink on either but where you order is separate. All the good was amazing and vannot wait to go back and watch a JAG GAME!! DUUUUVAL
google avatar

Yelp
4 stars with 3 being for the service. I file this place under "I wanted to like it so much more than I did". We stopped in as part of the Jax Ale Trail so we decided to eat lunch too. I canNOT say enough good things about the service. The bar tender was nice enough but the person who took our food order was one of the most delightful people I've ever encountered at a restaurant. The food and beer were disappointments. Not terrible, just not great. Like I said, I just wanted to like both the food and the beer far more than I did. I may try again with a different beer and entree just based on the awesome service alone.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Beer is pretty damn good, food is great. I've had a lot wings in my day, but these are hands down the best wings ever. Always a pleasure to come here.

Yelp
This was another one of the 3 breweries on Main that we weren't planning on going to but were told to make it a stop and how it was made from an old gas station. When walking up you could see the place was packed and I immediately fell in loge with their logo. It is one of my things I always look for... hiw creative or unique is the logo. A simple hops design just won't do it anymore. We walked in to a wall to wall packed place (their there games on and this is sports themed) but were able to spot two seats at the bar. The beertender couldn't have been more friendly and offered suggestions and samples before we picked our flight. We generally carry stickers from other breweries in Florida and Michigan with us on all our travels and when I gave him a Bell's Oberon sticker to put up he quickly told me about the other brewery owner being from Kalamazoo. I just really love how small.of a community breweries are.

Yelp
Great food and brews. Try the Czech Pilsner. Love the barbecue and the Adeeb cocktail cheese. Reminds me of my childhood eating at other Adeeb restaurants.
google avatar

Yelp
Strings was cool. If you're into watching sports then this is the place to go. You'll notice TVs all over, along with a basketball goal in the event you want to shoot some hoops. You'll also find the presence of a variety of beers on tap. I wasn't too thrilled with my food though. I had a cheese dip that was good but my Brisket Cheesesteak was bland. Really bland. I love brisket and I love cheesesteak so I assumed that amalgamation was going to be sumthin' SERIOUS. Well, it was.......seriously average. I'll end up coming back to see if I have better luck on the second go 'round but as of now, for me, Strings is 0 for 1 in the paint.

Yelp
What a sweet find! You have to check this place out! Ona. Whim we walked by and stopped in. They have an amazing beer selection and if your an IPA person, they have a great IPA selection! The ambiance is wicked chill and open-aired which is amazing for beer drinking. Oh and sports fans? Tons of huge TVs with all of the games! Definitely check this spot out.
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
So the service is great and the selection of foods has gotten really much better since I was last there. Our sever was very knowledable and made suggestions. Ordering is easy and I love that they have sparkling water in their drink machine. I ordered the brisket nachos at $17. Don't get me wrong they were tasty cheese sauce had flavor but couldn't taste beer, brisket was good but for the price o was expecting more. The chips were homemade and yumm but very salty paired with cheese. My bf ordered grouper sandwich and loved the fish large and very pretty the bun he said tasted like it may have Been a day or 2 old kinda hard and he liked the dirty rice. Overall tasty but just know portion maybe less than you think.
google avatar

S B.

Yelp
Fun place. I like the design, but the prices have become egregious. 19.00 for a chicken Caesar salad? That's literally more than Cowford's Chop House. Same goes for the burger at 16.00 and a 16.00 hotdog. You can have lunch at fine steak house for less than these prices at the local family sports bar. Today, lunch for two was over 50.00 for just burgers and tenders. Total overkill Also, can't take a "sports bar" seriously that closes before most night games end. No thanks
google avatar

Yelp
We went on a Friday night and it was packed and crazy! This place is huge- dining near where you order food is quieter than the rest, the bar- where you can order craft beers, has a stage with live music and was crammed packed and loud. It was so loud, you could barely here the live music. Outside- packed again, not a table available! There are plenty of games to be had- corn hole, basketball hoops, video game machines and more. We sat in the food side of things- because it was the easiest table to find and easier to hold a conversation- not that we talked. When the food arrived we were all about the burgers. John had heard that the burgers and wings were amazing here & he loves beer- so it's a win win. I would love to come back during the week and hopefully not as busy. Just FYI~ there is no parking lot for this place- you have to find street parking, which proved interesting. We went at 9pm at night and there was no street parking available- we parked at a nearby abandoned church- not the ideal parking.

Michael S.

Yelp
Highly recommend the brisket! Many craft beer options, my favorite the "String Music"
google avatar

Julius S.

Yelp
Is a very good place for you and your friends to go hang out have a nice cold brew and have a great conversation
google avatar

Aubrey H.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times, typically on a Sunday afternoon. We originally stopped in to get our ale trail passport stamped but I'm so glad we did! I like the beer, the food, and the people! Menu is kid friendly and really the whole place is a nice hang out. Great spot for Sunday Funday!
google avatar

Sarah V.

Yelp
We've been here quite a few times. Its very convenient with how close it is to our house & having a little one. We really loved Strings the first few times. However, the last two - three times we've been its been a bit disappointing (food & pricing) we were there tonight & spent over $70 on food that was VERY underwhelming . The beer is good, vibe is really nice, & the service is wonderful. However, the food has went a bit downhill within the last year.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
dropped by here for a quick bite and some brews after work with a friend. Close location to UF Jax hospital, spacious standing and seating, with a food kitchen right next door for good eats. Went with a flight and the chef's burger special. Overall, ok brews and pretty good food. Not a bad place to swing and try for those new to town.

Jasmine R.

Yelp
Hands-down, my favorite brewery in town! The food is delicious and the decor is nostalgic, and Americana athletic. I love that they're always hosting some sort of event. It definitely brings the community together!
google avatar

Candice W.

Yelp
What a great place. Fun, upbeat, cool vibe. Food is tasty, a nice variety and there are plenty of options for larger parties. Yes you can play basketball inside the building! How fun is that? As a cider fan I was thrilled they had multiple choices and my craft beer loving husband was thrilled with the many tasty and delicious brews available. When next in Springfield we will stop back by probably for lunch and some brews.
google avatar

Elyscia S.

Yelp
My biggest qualm was that it was over priced. Chicken tenders shouldn't be $17...if you come on a game day you probably won't have a place to sit because they get packed. The food was decent. No bad but definitely not great. The atmosphere is nice though will the brewery and the games that are there to play too.
google avatar

Amado G.

Yelp
This Brewery was amazing. The many different beers has you contemplating what to drink. The wings were outstanding and can never go wrong with smoked wings. French Fries are golden and crispy just the way I like them to be. Staff is friendly and vibrant and I told them it was my first time and they treated me wonderful. It's family and actually kid friendly as well. Also you are able to bring your dog and a lot of room for them to walk around without bumping into anyone. I would definitely come back and try out more beers. They even have an outdoor section which gives you even more room to work with or sit away from people during this pandemic.
google avatar

Jbear F.

Yelp
A surprisingly good experience considering some of the reviews on this an other sites. Great interior. The food I had and what I heard from other customers was uniformly good. Everyone enjoyed the beers they had. Unfortunately there is no parking except on street and what you can find. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Every beer I tried was good and their IPA's were very good.
google avatar

Gregory B.

Yelp
Good brewery type food. Wings were a bit smaller bur tasted great. Combo'd well with Alabama sauce. Mac n cheese was really good as well

Kelley F.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere for college football and I'm sure it's rocking for the Jags games!! Good beer selection and the burgers were spot on! Will go back for sure!
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
We were staying nearby when we came to town for a Jaguars game and stopped by for some late evening food and a beer. Food came out super quick, although it wasn't very hot. Beer was cold and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. It's a cool place and I would definitely recommend it to grab and hang out!
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
Good food service and ambiance. Would definitely visit again! Parking is a on the street but would still come back

Yelp
Looking for a fun place to watch football on Sunday this place is a great fit. They have a bunch of large screen tv's broadcasting what looks like every football game playing. There's plenty of indoor seating and outdoor seating available. Beer is good, they have a good variety, and more styles than just 10 different IPA's which is appreciated. They also have food, which I've found to be very serviceable. If your driving here parking is not super easy, I only found street parking which was mostly taken. Definitely worth a stop.

Emily B.

Yelp
Great service and yummy bar food options. Perfect place to watch sports as their are a lot of tvs. Kid friendly!

Kayla B.

Yelp
So the good: usually have an amazing experience here! The food is fantastic particularly the wings and fresh fish. Everyone is super nice and they're dog friendly. The bad: after coming here for years, we finally had a bad experience with the food- it's okay it's bound to happen. When I brought up a pork belly sandwich that was admittedly eaten a little, I told the waiter that I would like to return it and get something else since neither my husband nor myself could stomach it. The guy was super apathetic and charged us full price for an order of replacement wings meaning we spent over $65 on barely two meals not including drinks. I felt felt like it could have been resolved better or at least gotten some sort of apology :/ Usually great but didn't have the best experience tonight.

James J.

Yelp
This establishment still hasn't adjusted their hours to fit customers request! Boo!!! ! They will probably never get any money from me and we live in the neighborhood! What type of sports bar closes at 9 pm? They just announced a location closer to the beach with longer hours into the night! Booo !

Yelp
Met friends for Murray's Taco Bodega kitchen take-over Tuesday. This was my first time visiting Strings Sports Brewery and I had a blast! Will was an excellent bartender who helped me navigate the many beer choices. I started with a flight of their homemade brew (if you select their beer you will save $2 on the flight). I tried Hazy IPA, Blackberry Sour, Peach Mango Sour and 6-4-3. They were all tasty but my favorites were the Blackberry Sour and Peach Mango Sour. I ordered another Peach after finishing my flight. It was light and refreshing with not too much sour. I didn't experience the regular kitchen cuisine, however I had the pleasure of having my first tacos from Murray's. I ordered the brussel sprout, pork, mushroom, brisket and smoked chicken tacos. While all were yummy the brussel sprout, with roasted garlic, black beans and chipotle cream, and the brisket, with ranchero sauce, pepper jack and a sunny side up egg, were my top picks! The blend of flavors was happiness for my mouth! I also enjoyed the homemade salsa and chips. I am looking forward to my next visit so I can branch out and try four new beers in a flight as well as enjoy some in house food (unless they bring Murray's back for taco Tuesday:)!

Yelp
We ventured over to Strings to check out Mark's Taco Bodega Pop Up for some delicious tacos! It's kinda a treck from our side of town to get to Springfield so we don't make it out this way often, but pulling up I was surprised how nice Strings is! The building is beautiful! It's huge! Walking in it big nice and open, they almost have it divided into 2 sides...the kitchen and the brewery! I was impressed they brew their own beers but it wasn't too many maybe 6 beers, then maybe 6 beers from other breweries! I did a flight choosing all their beers and they were tasty! I like fruity citrus beers and liked their sours ( not too tart!) Now the best for last....they have Games!! Like legit basketball hoops up! Darts and a great outdoor space with ping pong and big connect 4! Very fun to grab some food, get a few beers and shoot some hoops!
google avatar

Pilar M.

Yelp
Is a nice place to be with friends or family and bring you dog I don't have a nice experience today and just the manager know why. Was terrible Other than that beer food and environment are very nice. I really recommend this place
google avatar

Jess O.

Yelp
One of the best things about Strings is that it is open on Mondays! Every time we're looking for a place to get something yummy to eat and a cold beer for the guys, we come across so many closed signs because for some reason it's always on a MONDAY. We love Strings for even more reasons than that, like their delicious and simple menu. My dad and husband said that it was one of the best hamburgers that they've had in a while. I got the Pulled pork sandwich and I just can't stop thinking about it. You're not going to get anything super fancy here, but you will get delicious and quality food that is not too ridiculously expensive that will keep you coming back. Especially for a non-beer drinker like me... it's definitely important. Also love that it is somewhat quiet on a Monday afternoon where you can come grab some grub and use their wifi to work on some things.
google avatar

Aisha J.

Yelp
I enjoyed the atmosphere pretty nice open spot to hang with friends. Had a few different game stations like basketball, mechanical bull, corn hole and video game machines. It is split into to areas bar and dining.

Yelp
Visited Strings Sports Brewery this past weekend for lunch on a Saturday. Strings is a unique take on a Sports bar/Family Friendly Brewery. You will find the bar, TV's to catch the latest sporting events and seating area for food. Strings also has an indoor basketball hoop area with scoreboard, darts area, and other activities available in the outdoor seating area. Something unique found in the men's room was the Keg Urinal! "From out of the Keg back into the Keg :)!!!" The food is a little pricey but has more options than you would normally find on a bar menu. I went with the Strings burger and Potato Salad as my side. The burger is a double (2 x 4oz patty with White American cheese and LTO). I wanted to get it on a Wheat Bun with Swiss cheese but it was not an option to change how the burger came. The food came out without too much of a wait. The burger wasn't bad and had a good amount of meat for being a double; however for the price I was thinking it would have been better. The potato salad was a little bland. The brewery does have a large variety of in house brewed beers. The bartender was very friendly offering samples and answering any questions. Tip: If you get the burger, try their house BBQ sauce on the side. It isn't the traditional BBQ sauce. Almost tasted like a blend of Heinz 57 sauce with Jamaican Spices.
