"Helmed by executive chef Jorge Guzmán, Sueño manages to wed the wow factor of food cooked on a wood hearth with the comfort of a big family dinner. The restaurant offers new takes on Mexican cuisine while still honoring tradition. Expect dishes that highlight familiar ingredients in new ways, like the grilled shishito pepper appetizer with Tajin and queso dressing, or the pescado Veracruzano entree, a seared red snapper filet topped with pickled tomatoes, olives, capers, and herbs. Enjoy a glass from the smart wine list, curated by sommelier Lauren Gay, and head downstairs after dinner to Tender Mercy, which made Esquire’s list of top bars in the country in 2021." - David Nilsen

Stellar, inventive and delicious. Very surprising to find a restaurant like this in Dayton. Their homemade masa is incredible. Highly recommend gorging yourself on chips. We got the salsa, esquites, fish tacos and tostada. All amazing. The stuffed peppers were good too. The meal we got the for the price was a great deal. Service can be slow - our server was given too many tables. Recommend a reservation - even on weekdays.

Google
A very well decorated restaurant! The environment is so posh and stylish! The server is very friendly and professional! The food is like Mexican in a creative and upscale way. But it is very delicious! They also serve Mexican imported beer which is a surprise! I would say it is a really nice place for dating or hanging out with friends!

The food is very delectable and delicious! The service is fast, friendly, and warm. The ambiance is warm, eclectic, and energetic. I highly recommend this restaurant as a go to spot for anyone wanting an amazing culinary experience! The food literally dances on your taste buds. The staff are also very attentive and constantly making sure the needs of the customer are being met. Without a doubt, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves food and wants good vibes!

The bar is the star of the show. Whole establishment is built around it. Service is really great (they all wear denim!) The food is well thought out and crafted with high level of care. Great for date night, solo visit, large groups and happy hour! The Esquites with the homemade chips was amazing.

Google
Eeyore loved this place! The salsa of the day was a terrific red salsa with a nice mild, yet slightly spicy flavor profile. Great texture as well and the best tortilla chips I ever had at any restaurant. The pollo and carne asada dishes are perfectly done and carry a perfect texture and flavor profile. The shishito pepper appetizer is bussling full of flavor and not sure where my guac photo went. Maybe Eeyroe was just so excited we forgot to snap a pic of the guac which had a great presention and superb freshness and preparation. Even the margaritas were top notch. The service matched the food quality. If in the area, worth the stop.

Google
I did not have astonishingly good Oaxaca inspired cuisine on my bingo card when I visited Dayton. Brilliantly crafted by a James Beard level chef, Sueño is of the quality you’d expect when eating top tier Latino food in LA but with midwestern warmth. The Pumpkin Seed Dip, Fish Tacos, and any of the bar’s creations are must try’s.

Sueno is such a nice restaurant - great food, vibes, and service. Every single dish was wonderful and full of flavor. Great for date night, girls night out, or a family event.

Google
We had the chips and chili con queso, fish tacos and the carne asada. Food and service was fantastic. The fish tacos were stellar. A must try. Carne asada was very good too. Carne asada is not for you if you don’t like rare steak. Overall a wonderful place. Wasn’t expecting such a gem to be in Dayton.

Yelp
If you're looking for a contemporary twist on Mexican cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit. We recently enjoyed their Mahi Mahi tacos, and they were nothing short of exceptional. The fish was perfectly fried, flaky, and seasoned to perfection, served with a mix of fresh toppings that elevated the flavors. The warm, soft tortillas added the perfect touch to every bite Sides were equally impressive and tasty. The roasted brussels sprouts were a standout--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and enhanced with a subtle smoky flavor. The ceviche was fresh, tangy, and vibrant, a refreshing counterbalance to the warm dishes The papas were rich and comforting, seasoned just right for a satisfying bite. Lastly, the piquillo peppers were an unexpected choice, sweet with a slight kick, making them a unique addition to the meal The atmosphere was modern yet inviting, and the service was prompt and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. If you're a fan of innovative takes on Mexican classics, this spot deserves a place on your dining list!

Yelp
We took our 21 year old son here for his birthday dinner with the family. All of our dishes were well prepared and delish. The staff are very professional and we enjoyed our evening celebrating him! I really enjoy the ranch water drink. It is so refreshing. The restaurant is not very loud and has a beautiful open kitchen concept. It is very dim in the restaurant, if you are getting older like I am make sure to take your readers! lol

Yelp
Possibly the best restaurant in all of Dayton right now. Truly elevated dining experience bringing a modern take on Mexican cuisine. I've eaten here a couple times, including on a JAM Foodie Tour (which is a must do!) The depth of flavor in every dish is just mind blowing. The ambiance and architecture is gorgeous. And the service is top knotch. An amazing place to celebrate or just to indulge your senses.

Liana S.

Yelp
Great ambience. Slow service. The food was an attempt at upscale Mexican food but fell short in flavor.

Yelp
MUST TRY!! Went on a weekend before peak dinner hours. There were a lot of tables open but due to reservations, our party of two could only sit at the bar. The bartender was informative and helpful. I tried the Guacamole, Piquillo Peppers, Lamb Birria, Col de Bruselas, Tres Leches and Churros. The appetizers came out quick. Once we finished the appetizers, there wasn't a long wait on the mains. The guacamole itself was good but wasn't anything spectacular. I would get it again for the made in house corn chips. If you like goat cheese then you'll truly enjoy the Piquillo Peppers. The ratio of cheese to pepper is borderline too much in my opinion. The pepper itself seemed just like a bell pepper. The Lamb Birria was delicious. The side of Arbol was textbook. Both desserts were good. Overall, this might be the best food in Dayton.

Yelp
Am I missing something here? My boss recommended I check this place out and after checking the reviews, went for it. I will say... I had my cocktail in-house and my food to go. Perhaps that makes a huge difference (which isn't ideal but alas). Anyway... Went with "The Guy" cocktail and it was delicious, albeit a tad expensive for the area. Ordered because it had "sea air" listed as an ingredient which I loved and found clever. My ranking would be higher if it were just based on the drinks. The food was... Very disappointing. I should note both the items are my go-to dishes so I have expectations. I ordered the shishito peppers which lacked flavor and honestly, weren't cooked well. Some were burnt, some were undercooked. How does that even happen? My entree was the fish tacos. Again, got these to go. I understand fish tacos are best served fresh and hot, so I didn't expect to be infatuated. But I also didn't expect the tacos to be soggy, fall apart when touched and basically be a fried fish stick with some cabbage. It was just, bad. Would not recommend for takeout and I'm having a hard time contemplating how in person improves it that much. Moral of the story: I would happily return for a cocktail, would never get their food to-go, and would need some coaxing to come back for a meal.

Yelp
I truly enjoyed taking my niece here for her birthday. The ambience when you walk in is welcoming, dark and brooding. The staff were friendly and helpful with suggestions. The food was delicious. We started with drinks, I got a mock tail with jalapeño which was refreshing with a kick. My niece got the margarita which she enjoyed thoroughly. We got the peppers for our App, they did not disappoint! Highly recommend. I got the bistec y mole and she got the lamb birria, both were delicious but the lamb was Amazing! We split the tres leches cake, it was a birthday celebration after all, and we were both so happy we did. Not sure when I'll be back in Dayton next but definitely worth the trip to get a little taste of SUEÑO!

Yelp
Atmosphere, ambiance, food, service...this place has it all!!! It is so unique and just what downtown needed. The flavors were amazing, the menu is incredible and the quality of food was really impressive. We got a boat load of different things all equally as good as the next. We will definitely be back here for date night!!

Chris B.

Yelp
TL;DR: Came here for a date night at the end of vacation as a treat based on others recommendations. Didn't live up to the hype and don't plan on coming back. Service: Bartender was friendly and attentive. Explained menu very thoroughly and provided recommendations. The only service issue we had here was with an order of tacos. We had ordered the pickled red onion on the side, when the order arrived the onions were on the dish, let the server know and she had it remade but this time they just left the onions out completely. Food: I was the most excited for the food, but it didn't quite live up to the hype. We had the taco de cochinita, bistec y mole, and mahi mahi. Flavor was good on the tacos, but definitely wasn't as spicy as we were led to believe. For the mahi mahi the fish itself was good, but the flavor of the rice really ruined the dish for us. The bistec y mole had a good flavor, but I wouldn't say it was amazing. Overall we liked the bistec y mole the best. Drinks were all good. Cost: Another strike here for me. The entrees were touted as being family style with portions sizes described as being for 1.5 people which would have made sense at about $40 a piece. Sadly the flavor didn't live up to price and the portions were smaller than I would have expected. I had two of the three tacos and the bistec y mole and was still hungry after. Drinks were about $14 a piece. Overall: Drinks were good. Food was overpriced for the taste and portion sizes. I don't plan to come here again.

Yelp
Complimentary valet parking and nice frontage. Food was good. We had carne asada and pollo Al carbon. The chicken was particularly well seasoned and prepared! Service was spot on and the ambiance is very nice. Seemed a bit pricy for what we got so I pulled a star.

Dan S.

Yelp
As always, we had an amazing evening sitting at the chefs counter. The staff was having fun and always willing to share how they prepare everything and make recommendations. Watching live fire cooking is always entertaining, especially the woman making tortillas, hand flipping them on a 450 degree griddle. Of course the food was on point, we shared so many dishes I could not keep track of all we ate tonight. Highly recommend the place as one of our favorite places in Dayton.

Kim H.

Yelp
Beyond amazing! If you like good food, this is a MUST try! The food delighted our senses. The aroma was delightful, the visual appeal was stunning, and the flavors were an exquisite blend of freshness and creativity that left us wanting more. Best service we have ever had, attentive, friendly, and made us feel truly special. So glad we found this place and want to take our daughter and her husband when they come to visit.

Lucy Z.

Yelp
We had a wonderful first time at Sueño. Right when you walk in, you notice the trendy decor and relaxed ambiance. The food was well-seasoned with the perfect amount of spice. My chicken was charred on the outside giving it an amazing smoky flavor but still very juicy and tender. The papas are smashed potatoes with chili crisp and sour cream, a wonderful accompaniment to the chicken. Service was fast and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Cody A.

Yelp
Sueño is now easily our favorite Mexican restaurant in Dayton. The atmosphere is vibrant, with great energy and stylish decor. The service is impeccable, complete with complimentary valet parking! Their cocktails are a highlight, especially 'The Guy,' and the food is out of this world. We tried the chips and salsa, (Salsa del Día), Tacos de Cochinita, and the smoked chicken enchiladas -- all were absolutely delicious. The smoked chicken enchiladas were so good that we had to order a second serving. I could eat their chips and salsa every day; the salsa, possibly a fermented pineapple and jalapeño blend, is one of the best I've ever tasted. If you're looking for upscale Mexican cuisine, Sueño will not disappoint!

Tess J.

Yelp
Just go here, you have to want to based on these reviews. OUTSTANDING food, service, cocktails. Yum. Not a single misstep.

Jenni T.

Yelp
As someone who's typically skeptical about trendy modern Mexican food, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Sueño. Nearly every dish my friends and I ordered exceeded our expectations, showcasing a delightful fusion of flavors and creative presentations. Our waiter was incredibly helpful and informative about the menu, guiding us through the options with expertise. Parking was surprisingly ample outside, even on a Thursday evening, making our visit hassle-free from the start. The restaurant itself was charming, with plenty of seating and a cute decor that added to the overall ambiance. I appreciated the good vibes and welcoming atmosphere, making our dining experience all the more enjoyable. If you're looking for a trendy spot with delicious food and a great atmosphere, Sueño is definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I wanted to try a new restaurant last weekend and so we decided to try this place after seeing great reviews. The ambiance of this restaurant is fantastic. Very nicely decorated and it was the perfect spot for a date night. Food was also fantastic, although quite pricey. I was impressed by how everything we ordered was plated. We ordered carnitas tacos, the peppers, and the chicken entree all to split. Drinks were okay, way too pricey for what we received. Service was really good. Waitress walked us through the entire menu which was really helpful and she was quick to refill our waters, get new plates, etc. Overall, we had a great experience here, I am only docking one star for the price because I did feel that everything was overpriced for the Dayton area. Additionally, the plastic black chairs they sit you in are awful. If I'm going to be spending 75+ dollars on a meal for one person I expect better. Those chairs were so incredibly uncomfortable.

Nick N.

Yelp
Sueno is one of the top restaurants in Dayton Ohio. When I am in town for the summer, I typically go here 4-5 times. The menu changed a little but it still is amazing. I recommend the fish tacos or carne asada. The pumpkin dip thing is a must !

Beth G.

Yelp
Excellent service, delicious cocktails, authentic Oaxaca inspired food. Worth every penny, Ceviche is amazing.

Bailey D.

Yelp
What a fun spot in Downtown Dayton! I always like to try a new restaurant for my birthday dinner - and Sueño certainly delivered. We made a reservation online about a week prior - and didn't have any trouble finding a table for four at the time we wanted. They offer complimentary valet services for both Sueño and Tender Mercy, which is a nice touch since parking can be hard to find on a Saturday night. This restaurant certainly has a modern flair to it - I absolutely adored all of the neon wall art mixed with Southwest-style decor. I also love the open-kitchen concept - it really makes your meal so much more interactive to walk past and see them cooking your food firsthand. Our server was wonderful from start to finish - I wish I'd gotten their name because they truly went above and beyond with recommendations and check-ins throughout the meal. We'd heard that the portion sizes were on the small side - so we opted for a tapas-style dinner between the four of us. This worked out really well - and allowed us to try a little bit of everything. My favorite bite of the night was hands-down the "Piquillo Peppers." I could have eaten a whole bowl of these ravioli-like peppers. I also was quite surprised by how much I liked the "Sikil P'ak." Our waitress recommended this as a starter, and I all but devoured this hummus-like dip with their house-made chips. As for entrees, the "Duck Carnitas" stole the show. We've never experienced duck cooked this tender ... and it was delicious atop their house-made corn tortillas. Honorable mention to the "Pollo a la Leña," which had a delightfully crispy crust, and a juicy interior. For a special occasion, Sueño is definitely the spot to celebrate! Thanks for making my birthday such a tasty experience.

Yelp
High class authentic Mexican food for the taste buds. Located in downtown Dayton this place is setting itself away from the pack. The restaurant is designed very well with functional art all around even with regard to the lights. Seating is set up to accommodate large parties and the more personal one on one date night or outing. The service was phenomenal with the staff recommending great choices and attending to our needs without being asked. They were also very helpful in describing the menu itself and what to expect. This place also has an open kitchen concept which i love, seeing them prepare food makes it seem like I get dinner and a show. Tips to make your visit a success: 1) Portions can be small. We were told by the staff what to expect from the appetizers but i found the entrees to be of good size as pictured. And i enjoy leaving a place full and satisfied. 2) Not your typical Mexican restaurant. The menu will definitely have items you're not used to but give them a try and be pleasantly surprised. We tried the Sikil P'ak which was like a pumpkin seed hummus and it was delicious and different. If you're in Dayton make your way to Sueño for your next meal.

Lori Q.

Yelp
This place is outstanding for their ambience alone. But, it also comes with excellent service and their food is great. You can't beat going to a place that has history. Definitely go to their speakeasy. Well worth going down that rabbit hole and enjoying a uniquely crafted cocktail or three.

Eric L.

Yelp
I am normally disappointed by high-prices restaurants. I don't mind paying for a meal if it's good AND better than what I can do at home. Since I'm not a professional chef or even an advanced home cook, the bar is not that high. Everything was great. Some things were AMAZING! Knocks-I thought the steak was under-salted and still a little chewy. The horchata was mostly ice and for $8, could have had less ice or a bigger glass. Again, I don't mind paying for quality, but still... this was the ONLY dish where I didn't think the quality or value matched the price. It was nice inside. They could clean their chandeliers better as I saw plenty of dust along the chains. The broccolini was actually my second favorite dish. The tacos de cochonita were my favorite. Service was a good. A bit slower than it needed to be. I know the pace is supposed to be a little more relaxed here though but spent a little too much time waiting on the bill. I didn't leave disappointed or depressed at the near $170 we spent for two people. With the exception of the horchata... but the rest of experience made up for it.

Carolynne P.

Yelp
Lovely spot in Dayton, OH. Great flavors in an eclectic menu. Cocktails are fantastic as well. Our waitress and the host were wonderful. Definitely will return!

Megan F.

Yelp
I went to celebrate national tequila day downtown at Sueño. This was my first time going and I was joined by my friend. We both ordered off their cocktail lists and were both very pleased with our drinks. We ordered The Guy and The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia, which are both mezcal based drinks. With dinner we ordered spicy margs! All the drinks I give 10/10. We had the house made chips and guacamole and shishito peppers to start. I enjoyed the tamales for dinner. The vibe and aesthetics in Sueño made the evening!

Angel P.

Yelp
The ambiance is beautiful at this restaurant, however, the food wasn't that great. Maybe I am spoiled with how food tastes like in Chicago with ambiances like this but I just wasn't wowed by what I ordered. I thought there was just too much sauce on the torta, I think it would have been more effective to have it on the side. My cousins ordered the tacos and said it was alright. I don't know the food scene in Dayton but I'm not exactly sure I would eat at this place again. I would say the service was phenomenal though, our waiter was very nice and funny.

brittany s.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Dayton. Hands down. Food, drinks and service are excellent. Moved back to the area from Chicago and this restaurant could easily be successful in a bigger city.

Matthew S.

Yelp
We stopped in for happy hour and had some drinks and appetizers. Cool vibe, solid tastes, and Lucas was a great bartender/server. Next time we are in town we will definitely be back!

Bill S.

Yelp
I loved my meal at Sueno. The ambiance is perfect, the cocktails are 1st rate and the food and service could not better. You have to try the salad. It is big enough for two to share but so good you will not want to.

Christopher D.

Yelp
This place always delivers!! The food here is amazing and the servers are great. With all the options on the menu we found it easier to entrust our knowledgeable server Matt to choose our items for us and he knocked it out of the park! Definitely will be returning again and will be requesting a spot in his section. 5 star ambiance and experience.

Steve S.

Yelp
We chose to have last night because of the high Yelp reviews. It earns every one of those great reviews. Now, I've traveled all over Mexico and I love Mexican food in Mexico. Most Mexican restaurants in the US pale in comparison but not Sueno. It's a wonderful representation of those great restaurants south of the border! We started with guacamole and chips. Buttery and delicious guac, we squeezed some lemon on it for that bit of a zing. Chips are crispy and likely homemade. Loved it! For dinner we split a Pascado a la Plancha. It's about a pound of bronzino fish excellently prepared and served with a creative slaw. We had a side shishito peppers that were served with a Creme sauce. Nice! Loved our meals! We will most certainly be back!

Tim S.

Yelp
Food wasn't that good for the price. I got the $40 steak and it was too chewy. Would have expected melt in your mouth. Service was slow, took 15 minutes to get our drinks. Nice atmosphere though. Won't be going back.

Min K.

Yelp
What a gem here in Dayton. Everything on the menu is expertly thought out and presented. Any restaurant that has an expeditor that examines every plate going out and adds finishing flakey salt, you know you're getting a beautifully plated, delicious meal.

Luke C.

Yelp
WOW! Sueno is amazing. This is probably the best restaurant in Dayton. I came with a group of four and we were all very impressed. They have very good execution. Definitely upscale and pricey, but worth it! The guac was good and creamy - really liked the seeds on top to add crunchiness. This was a smoother guac with limey taste. The shrimp was good too - lots of butter and fried peppers. I was super impressed with the Caesar salad. The anchovies on top were a really nice nod to the ingredients of anchovies in caesar dressing. I think a lot of people miss that. The quality of the romaine was amazing. Super super crispy and even "juicy" from the freshness. The dressing had great coverage and the salad had the perfect amount of shredded cheese. Sope was good - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pulled pork was really juicy, meaning it was slow cooked very well. My chicken was super tender. The waiter said it was grilled and smoked. I had thought it was sous vide... They must have the temperature control done very well. The skin was very crisp with chilis. The sauce added a lot - it was a little sweet and a little salty. Only improvement I would say is the center was a little cool. Shishito peppers were good too. mildly spicy, again with a crunch, and burnt to the right amount. They were on top of a creamy sauce that complemented the mild peppers. For dessert was the chocolate ice cream. The chocolate came with a kind of brittle that had Maldon Salt embedded inside. I think a lot of people will not notice this but it shows me they really care about ingredients, taste, and the DETAILS. Random things that stood out: Knowledgable servers who know about each dish they are serving. separate dessert menus. The limes are all consistently and uniformly cut in a way that makes them very easy to squeeze - that's professionalism. The wood that they use for the fire grill is on display on a back wall of the restaurant. The open kitchen format. The bathroom designs and the design of the decorations overall... My brother noticed that the design on the back of the dessert menu was the same as the decorations used in the restaurant. I was very surprised about the quality of all of this in Dayton. I haven't eaten anything of this quality at this price range in Dayton, and we were so happy that this came to Dayton. Strong #1 restaurant in Dayton.

Greg M.

Yelp
This is Dayton!!!! Get here. The half chicken was off the charts. Great atmosphere flavor galore.

Deirdre L.

Yelp
Our second return. Place welcoming and busy. We reserved and were seated near the kitchen. We had cocktails a feel better similar to tequila sunrise. Refreshing and pleasing my husband had old fashioned citrus with buffalo trace delicious and perfect. We started with Aquila peppers goat cheese stuffed with wonderful spices. Yummy ! Then dinner of pollo al carbon for me which is spiced chicken with a lightly spiced sauce delicious! My husband had tacos carnitas with pickled onions absolutely his favorite and delicious too. We made room for dessert s of Cheesecake and corn cake with blueberry compote and honey butter both yummy and a great way to end the meal. Our waiter was wonderful and thanks to all who made our time there great. We will be back !

Jackie V.

Yelp
Love this place! The atmosphere was very nice. There was a fire going. Beautiful decor. We sat at the bar and had a very nice bartender. I had the ranch water cocktail and hubbie had a spicy Paloma. She made the drinks just the way we like them. For dinner we ordered the chips the homemade salsa (yum), shishito peppers that had a delicious queso sauce, and carne asada with house made tortillas. They knocked it out of the park. Next time we are in Dayton we will definitely be back.

Chad R.

Yelp
Try this place for a date night while in Dayton. I ordered the Lamb burria and steak. The lamb tasted like a pot roast made quickly in a crockpot, it had no flavor, so I sent it back. None of the entrées come with any sides except a few corn tortillas. Menu was pretty limited. Ambience and drinks were on point but the food has a lot to left to be desired

Jeff H.

Yelp
I'm not the foodie in my relationship. So, trust me when I say, "OMG, just go here!" From my other half: "He had achiote-marinated hardwood-roasted chicken in a piri-piri salsa with a sprinkling of chives pressed into the gorgeous skin for his entree, and we shared amazing flame roasted pimientos de padron on a bed of fresh crema-queso fresco sauce and an exquisite roasted pumpkin pibil dip. I had the lush tacos de cochinita and received a comment from Jeff: "This achiote, use more of this at home!" This was probably the best Mexican I've had. Chris, who's spent a lot of time traveling, said it was the best Mexican he's had in the US midwest.

Mandy L.

Yelp
Great food, yummy cocktails, nice atmosphere and good service! Portions are on the smaller side for the price but overall good experience and definitely recommend.

Jonathan W.

Yelp
Disappointing ending to an otherwise enjoyable meal and experience. Attentive waitress is ensuring we're all done, don't want any more drinks or dessert. Nope, we're good. So she brings bill, and the credit card reader. Sueño is using those new ones where it autosuggests at 20% tip, with suggestions for a 25% or 30% tip. Look, it isn't cool. The rest of the meal was great, but people are calling this out now. Stop with using the machines that are pushing a markup. There's already inflation on the food price. It really reflects poorly on the restaurant. Let me put it this way: if you're going to push a 20% tip, I'm ordering less. Having her stand there and watch me as I deselect 20% is rude. I was considering more since we had a great time, but the party didn't get the chance to have a talk over the bill since she's right there and her monitoring my actions. Do better, Sueño.

Rhonda W.

Yelp
Simply put, amazing food, atmosphere, and service. We always have a great time and our first choice in dining.

Kimberly M.

Yelp
After our first experience I was contacted by the restaurant asking us to come back for another visit. I'm so pleased we did. The decor was just as beautiful as I remembered, and watching the fire from the kitchen on this chilly winter night really added to the ambiance. The best part of our visit had to be our server, Anton. Exceptional five star service from start to finish. He was kind enough to explain some new menu items and make some suggestions. We started with the guacamole which was as delicious as it was beautiful. Next, we moved on to the enfrijolada- a black bean enchilada. We loved sharing this, and it was a great opening to our dinner. Hands down, the star of our meal was the Pescado a la Plancha- a whole fish piled high with green cabbage and dressed in crema. It was a super fresh fish taco vibe and we loved it. I am so happy we returned and gave Sueno another chance. My husband was raving about our dinner all night.

Karla R.

Yelp
It's a great date night opinion. The food is so tasty. portions are good. the service is great. make sure you make a reservation.

S L.

Yelp
We both ordered a Diet Coke to drink. It came in a 12 ounce glass with a rather significant amount of ice. We noticed that our glasses were never refilled during the entire meal, until I sampled the hot salsa that comes with the tacos and requested a refill. I received a second glass, again filled with a lot of ice. Got the bill. $4,50 a glass. $18 for 4 glasses of ice with some pop included. Talk about markup. This is just silly. For the price, service was "meh." Chips and guacamole were very good - probably the best part of the meal.. I sampled a taco, it was decent. I ordered the bistec ($39). I did not order the meat the recommended medium-rare (I requested medium), but I kind of expected it to be more tender. It wasn't tough by any means, but it also didn't have that wonderful goodness when meat melts in your mouth. It required some cutting on the plate. The accompanying tortillas were nice. The flavor of the bistec was interesting - kind of smoky, maybe? I wavered between liking it and thinking it tasted kind of odd. The menu is limited, entrees are mostly a la carte. I typically support these kind of places as Dayton is in desperate need of good, independently-owned dining. I can't see myself going back.

Anthony T.

Yelp
Sueno is wonderful. Very delicious, creative menu (we are vegetarian) and a beautiful, posh atmosphere

Yelp
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! We've been waiting to come here for over a year now and they didn't disappoint. Everything about Sueno made for a wonderful experience. The ambience inside was very nice. Our waitress, Deja, was the best, offering tips on food and drinks, everything you would expect from a well seasoned waitress. You can tell the tortilla chips were made fresh, and had a strong corn flavor. I highly recommend the pumpkin seed dip. It was worth every penny of the experience for your taste buds.

Yelp
There were some tasty things on the menu. The server was pleasant but not properly attentive. The sound level was way too noisy. They need to add acoustical treatment. The interior design of the restaurant was well done. Expensive meal. We won't return.

Yelp
Really good experience overall. I have no complaints, the service was good (not great) food was well seasoned, nicely presented and everything tasted well. The food is fairly authentic with lots of salsas to pick from. Drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) were also good. The place is very nicely decorated in an old building with a convenient, non-crowded layout. I really enjoyed the quesadilla with a freshly handmade corn tortilla, the "papas" were also very tasty. A bit on the pricey side, good for a special occasion.
