The Best Things We Ate This Week

"Taro & Strawberry Soft Serve I swung by Toothfairy Bakery for a dessert run this week. The South Beach dessert shop is one of three new concepts that just opened in the old Firestone complex on Alton Road. I can’t vouch for the other two yet, but if you are a fan of all things sugar, Toothfairy is really worth the trip. Everything here was great - especially the oatmeal cream pie, which has a wonderful, subtle coconut flavor. But the star of the show is the soft serve. It’s hands-down some of Miami’s best ice cream, and the tarro/strawberry flavor combination is just what you want on an 85-degree Miami night." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea

13 South Florida Tourist Traps That Are Actually Good

"Ice-smoking cocktails and decadent shakes have had tourists flocking here with phones ready to capture it all for the ‘gram. For brunch, highlights include decadent ‘Insane Double Stack Rainbow Pancakes’ served with an array of toppings like chocolate chips, gummy bears, strawberries, whipped cream, and rainbow sprinkles served with a take-home rubber ducky. Its chicken-waffle sandwich features jalapeno maple syrup, while the doughnut burger pairs beef with a glazed doughnut and grilled cheese sandwich topping. Pair with a mimosa goblet for the complete experience." - Alona Martinez

Mega-Club Mogul Announces Plans for a South Beach Doughnut Shop | Eater Miami

"Housed at 507 Espanola Way in Miami Beach, Sugar Factory’s upcoming Gummy World will feature a 120-seat café with white and red accents, tiled floors and dark wood counters, and will showcase glass panels for viewing the doughnut-making process and an on-site gummy bear machine. The gummy bear machine is billed as an attraction and is expected to produce roughly 20,000 gummies per day in custom flavors, including rosé, champagne and peach bellini alcohol-infused gummy bears, and it will also house Happy Place Donuts within the new Sugar Factory store." - Olee Fowler

Terrible experience! The dessert cookie was completely burnt — we could barely notice any Nutella, if there was any at all. There were no M&Ms, as described on the menu. Paying a mandatory 20% service charge for this kind of service and product is unacceptable! Plus, there’s an extra 3% fee if you pay by card. The server spent most of the time on their phone, and I had to get up several times just to be noticed and assisted. The drink was acceptable, but overall, the dessert was a big disappointment. Details: We only went there to try the dessert, and our expectations were high — unfortunately, it was a complete letdown.

Such a fun stop in Miami! We popped into the Sugar Factory for a drink and tried the candy shop cocktail — super creative and tasty. The whole restaurant was decked out for Halloween, which made the vibe even better. Definitely worth stopping in if you’re looking for a fun atmosphere and unique drinks.

I went while on vacation in south beach. We were the first people there on a Monday morning. We were waited on by yuengling. He was amazing and welcoming. I only got cheese fries since I intended to come for brunch but they only serve brunch on the weekends. The fries were fresh and delicious and I can’t wait to come back for brunch!

Eliseo and Yani were amazing!! Very excellent and speedy service!! The drinks were delicious and the food was great. We mentioned it was our anniversary, and they went above and beyond for us. Additionally, we came in just before closing, and they still took care of us with red carpet service. The meatballs were amazing and the ribeye was cooked perfectly. You must check out this place and ask for Yani next time you’re around here.

Indoors is small, outdoor area is good only if they had the tables on a deck or something and not have the tables close to the bathrooms, also there are air-conditions in that was dripping water into our table almost going into our food and drinks. Service wasn't good at all. we sat there for about 30 minutes before we got seen just when we were about to get up and walk out a waiter finally came and attended to us. There's nothing amazing about sugar factory food. This place is basically for the kids & adults to enjoy the drinks, but i have to say the lobster ravioli will be my go to whenever we go back to sugar factory.

We had the most amazing experience here tonight! Erez was our server and he was attentive and helpful. We came here for the "Instafamous" drinks and based on some reviews, were expecting the food to be lackluster.....however, I had the best buffalo chicken sandwich I've ever had in my entire life. The drink presentation was definitely worth bragging about on social media and it wasn't overly sugary and was also very good! I 10/10 recommend this place and we will definitely come back again and get another drink and try a sundae for 2!
