We took a sugar cookie decorating class and had a blast! Ali is a great instructor and answers all your questions. We liked it so much that we were inspired to buy all the ingredients and see if we could do it on our own. We would definitely take another class. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

We love Sugar Lab Bake Shop, and I would give it more than five stars if I could! We ordered our wedding cake here (which was BEAUTIFUL and tasted even better---my family still talks about it a year later!), and also received a single-tier cake for our first year anniversary. Both cakes were incredible, with so much thought and care put into both.

We used Sugar Lab for our wedding dessert bar and they did an amazing job!! They were super easy to work with, and we sampled some of their flavors at their shop in Ventura! The dessert bar cupcakes are the perfect size - and they have gluten free and vegan options as well! We got a small cake for cutting and ordered extra cookies and bars for folks to take them to go. Ali and her team have baked so many of our special event cakes and cookies. They are delicious and beautifully decorated. The quality is always on par. We were looking for a small cutting cake that would not only taste fantastic but also look the part, and Sugar Lab delivered beyond our expectations. From the start, Sugar Lab offered us several options for our wedding cake, allowing us to choose what would best suit our needs. We decided on a small 2-tier cake (which technically is not part of their "wedding" selection but worked perfect for what we needed) for an intimate touch, and the journey to creating our dream cake was nothing short of delightful. To ensure our cake was as delicious as it was beautiful, we went to their location and picked up a tasting box to decide on our cake flavor and frosting. Sugar Lab had an array of delicious combinations that made it so fun to choose. Every cake flavor and frosting we tried was a delight, but ultimately we decided on a vanilla bean cake with a cinnamon cream cheese frosting! When it came to the look of the cake, I shared some inspiration photos with Sugar Lab, and they were not only able to accommodate our vision but were also transparent with pricing. The design I wanted cost extra, but their cake decorator was incredible and it was worth it! Their attention to detail and willingness to bring our vision to life made the process stress-free. I had a DIY cake topper that I wanted to include, and Sugar Lab made the process easy for me. I was able to drop it off ahead of time, and the decorator placed it perfectly on the cake. It was a personal touch that made the cake even more special to us. The entire process with Sugar Lab was seamless, and on our wedding day, the cake was an absolute showstopper. Our guests raved about how delicious it was, and the cake added a touch of elegance to our celebration. From the tasting of cakes to the end of the night, Sugar Lab Bake Shop provided top tier service, flavor, and texture. Their wedding cake tasting package yielded a fun and tasty date night and gave us confidence in our choice to rely on them. Our guests adored the lemon bars and brownies and loved the variety we had in our three tier cake: top tier was red velvet cake with vanilla cream cheese filling, middle tier was a champagne cake with strawberry buttercream filling, and our favorite, the bottom tier, was a banana cake with banana brown sugar filling. They were communicative and clear with pricing and I couldn't be happier with their timeliness and the love they put into their goods. My husband and I highly recommend Sugar Lab Bake Shop and dream of their desserts. We can't wait for our anniversary cake!

We used Sugar Lab for our wedding and couldn't be happier. Allison was super easy to work with and she even made special mini fruit tarts for us as this was the hubbys only request. Everything was baked to perfection. My favorite was honestly the cookies, simple but soooo good.

So my boyfriend was emailing back and forth with the owner about a cake tasting kit for my birthday. I had seen these on TikTok well over a year ago and I hadn't stopped talking about them. We actually live in Oxnard but we're traveling for my birthday to Oregon and my boyfriend wanted to get them sent to where we were staying. It was going to cost extra but he didn't mind paying. Everything was all set up and then they completely ghosted him. He sent a few follow up emails with no response. But it's all good. He made me the best red velvet cupcakes for my birthday. Thanks for nothing!

I highly recommend Sugar Lab! Sugar Lab provided our wedding cake and I had so much fun working with Ali! She let me make changes to our order and design during the process, and we ended up with a beautiful cake! I'm always wary of large wedding cakes because they often end up dry, but our cake was moist and delicious. We got so many compliments on Ali's cake and our guests were very happy!

Wow! Just Wow! Sugar Lab went above and beyond with my DIL' Baby shower cake. I fell in love with a photo of a cake I absolutely had to have and after calling a few bakeries who could not do it, they recommended Sugar Lab. Not only did they replicate it to perfection, the Lemon Curd with vanilla cake flavor was to die for. This cake was truly the star of the show...after my daughter in law, of course! I've seen pictures of beautiful wedding cakes & cupcakes... They can do personalized orders... I've had some of their cutest, festive winter cookies. They were so cute that I didn't want to eat them, Bec they were super cute... Usually these types of cookies crumble & lack flavor. I visited SLBS years ago when they were in the Vons shopping center. Went back one day and they were gone. Well, turns out they moved practically to my backyard and I didn't even know. A very cute, clean shop that offers various treats and specialty drinks right in the center of the Ventura Harbor. It was enjoyable to sit and take in the scenery on a nice day while stuffing my face full of 3k calories. The flavor of the raspberry cupcake was good, not too sweet. The kitchen sink cookie was outstanding. The counter person was helpful in navigating the menu and chose my coffee drink for me per my request and it was great. I did go before closing so there wasn't a lot left to choose from... but that's the beauty of a small biz bakery! Get on it first or miss out! They don't have already made cakes for special occasions (you have to custom order) so if that's what you're hoping for, sorry to tell you you're out of luck... but I'm sure you be able to grab some other tasty finds.

I ordered a custom cake for my best friends birthday and it was so perfect and delicious. I sent some inspiration pics and they nailed it!! The flavor was so good and the frosting was so light and soft! Wasn't overly sweet it was perfection. They made the ordering and picking up experience extremely easy! I also love the cake cutting guidelines, super helpful!

My recommendation is not to go later in the day. Dear Hubby and I stopped in after visiting Top This Chocolate. I was saving my chocolate bar for later, and was interested in a baked good dessert after the dinner we were about to have at On The Alley. It was about 4:30 when we dropped by, and they were mostly cleaned out in the bakery case. On a positive note for those that are gluten-free eaters - they do feature a number of GF items, from cupcakes, to muffins, to cookies. As our neighbor requires GF foods, we were able to pick her up a treat as they had more items available for her at that hour than they did for those that don't have that restriction. The cupcakes are on the small side, and are loaded with buttercream frosting. Since I can't have dairy, real buttercream would be a no-no for me. DH ordered the ube cupcake with ube buttercream frosting. I chose a snickerdoodle cookie. I found the cookie to be slightly under-baked. DH let me try a bite of the cupcake, skipping the frosting. It was flavorful, moist, and not too sugary. Macarons are also an item they feature. A little pricey at $3 a piece, since they are so small. I am okay with paying that at Bottega Louie in DTLA, but not so much at Ventura Harbor. At Louie you get elegant atmosphere and gorgeous packaging. Sugar Lab is more basic. We don't have a dog, but if we did, we'd likely treat them to their dog treat cookies. Decorated with colorful, fanciful frosting, they were a visual high point in an otherwise mostly-empty display case. Service-wise, there were three staff members working, and they seemed to be more interested in talking with each other than with greeting us when we walked into the empty shop. Finally, one of them noticed us and offered assistance. Let's say, I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling during our visit. I would visit them again, and I've enjoyed their pre-wrapped cookies at other events and enjoyed them in that setting. My first visit to their brick and mortar location wasn't a big hit, though.

I've been here a few times but for reason forget to take photos. Prob cause I get so excited to get my order I usually devour it before I get a chance to. These cookies were pretty good too. I think we got the chocolate chip and the other one is lavender . That's also tables and chairs to sit and enjoy your treats or beverages.

Love all the baked goods. Delicious! Creative! The energy drinks are also delicious and does not give the caffeine high

I have gotten pre-ordered Valentine's Day sugar cookies in the past and Sugar Lab did not disappoint. I ordered them the Thursday before Valentine's Day and they were ready today (2/13). I took a nice bike ride to grab the sugar cookies in the beautiful harbor! This is a gift for someone else so I am not sure how the cookies taste, but I have had their baked goods and they are yummy! Customer service wise Sugar Labs is top notch. They alerted me via email when the deadline was to put the pre-orders. They me a text when the cookies were ready. I cannot wait to see the look on their face when they get the cookies! So thoughtful and sweet -literally!

We've come to the Ventura Harbor many times, but it's our first time stopping by here! The most adorable bake shop, they have both bake goods as well as various drinks. While we didn't try their baked goods on this visit because we were in search of something to drink, they looked so cute and absolutely delicious - we can't wait to stop by next time to give them a try. Their cold brew, though, was delicious. It had a sweeter flavor to it while still holding true to the coffee flavor. So enjoyable. They also make a great hot cider, which is a perfect treat to enjoy in the colder weather as you talk a walk down the harbor. The location is perfect - as I said, it's on the harbor so you get to enjoy the water. It's also right across the street from the beach if you want to stop here while enjoying the water. Staff are wonderful. Highly recommend.

Girls night on a Sunday.., at Sugar Lab!! My besties and I wanted a nice place to chat in peace and we found it here. We chatted for hours. I had the butter pecan latte with whole milk, one of my friends had butter pecan latte with oat milk and the other s'mores latte with almond milk. We all really enjoyed our drinks!!! Great customer service !

Sugar Lab Bake Shop made our custom wedding cake and delivered it to Calamigos Ranch in Malibu! We started by ordering a tasting box, which was beautifully packaged and labled! We decided to go with white almond with chocolate buttercream for one tier and lemon with strawberry swiss buttercream for the other tier. Everyone had great things to say about our cake! This company made it very easy to order, as well as scheduling and coordinating delivery to our venue! Unfortunately we were too busy to have a slice of our own cake on our wedding day because we were so busy and it was no where to be found at the end of the night, but we know it tasted amazing because we picked out the flavors from our tasting box! We worked with Micki and the team at Sugar Lab Bake Shop to create and deliver our personalized wedding cake. We had a larger kitchen cake for the guests, and a smaller, sweetheart table cake for just my wife and I. Communication was really smooth getting all of the details right, and delivery of the cake to our venue was an option we could select with our rate. The cake came out SO DELICIOUS. The guests loved it, and we couldn't stop eating the leftovers the day after. We can't wait to eat our cake again one year from now, as Sugar Lab Bake Shop offers a freshly baked one for you to have on your anniversary - no need to freeze your wedding cake and eat a stale one next year. small shop with nice and attentive staff. it is located inside the ventura harbor village: * banana foster: 4/5 ~ it is so good but the cream on top is too sweet for me, mostly when you add caramel drizzle becomes double sweet * white chocolate macadamia nut muffin: 5/5 ~ recommended. sweetness is just right and can taste the macadamia nut inside plus the dough is just right, perfecto!!! * sunset drink: 4/5 ~ love it!!! it is so refreshing and still can taste the pineapple and passion fruit, good combination!!! recommended place!!!

Couldn't recommend this spot enough! I've ordered MANY dozens of custom cookies and a couple cakes. Also enjoyed their macarons. Zero complaints. Everything is always gorgeous and the crew behind this shop I incredible.

My husband and I are always searching for dessert/pastry places to go to. We had seen this place come up in our searches and we are glad we finally got a push to go because this place is super cute. The workers were really sweet and nice which we both always appreciate. The cookies and brownie were delicious. Most peppermint pastries I get you can't really taste it but this one had just the right amount. I am a big cupcake fan. I was super excited to see all the different flavors they have. I purposely didn't get one because I will be back.

Fully loved everything I got here!!! The hot cider was so so delicious!! Perfectly warm and sweet. I also got these holiday-decorated sugar cookies which were the CUTEST thing I've ever seen!! And the best part was that they were both TASTY AND CUTE! Whenever I get decorated sugar cookies, I expect them to not taste good, but you're really getting the best of both worlds here at Sugar Lab Bake Shop. Highly recommend!! Alli never disappoints! I requested a Bridgerton themed cake for a crafting group. Ali created the most gorgeous, Bridgerton blue cake with glitter. The bows and details on the cake were gorgeous. Inside the flavors were lemon and raspberry. The cake was delicious and so pretty sliced too! Thank you Ali for always making our occasions extra special It was all ooohhs, aaaahs and so yummy!

Bright and cute cupcake shop right in the harbor! I've been picking up cupcakes from Sugar Lab since their old location on Telegraph, it's great they're in an even livelier location. The cupcakes are moist and not overly sweet. My go to cupcake is a red velvet with cream cheese frosting and they do it well here. Also tried the gluten free banana peanut butter cupcake. It was tasty and I couldn't stop thinking "if I was a pup, I'd REALLY love this cupcake". Bf loved the carrot cake cupcake, I did not get to try any because he ate it all. We also enjoyed the vanilla cupcake with buttercream! I love the ease and convenience of online ordering. Pick out your cupcakes and pay online with a quick pickup at the counter. Customer service in person can be slightly improved but I get that sometimes people have long, hard days. Would recommend to anybody looking for delicious desserts!

We had our wedding cake done by Sugar Lab and it was delicious! They were so easy to work with and the cake ended up looking great! Would highly recommend their cakes!

Great spot for a sweet treat and drinks on the harbor. We stopped for their Mermaid month Macaron which i loved and coffee. Ordered their spiced chai and i really enjoyed it. Their chocolate chip cookies are great but I was a little disappointed with their mocha frosted cookie. Overall great spot to get yummy treats by the water. They have some seating outdoors.

Sugar Lab absolutely nailed our wedding dessert table dreams! We wanted a small cake that we could cut during cake cutting for our wedding and get photos of but we didn't want a cake big enough to serve our guests. Sugar Lab helped us pick out the most perfect sized cake for my husband and I to cut during our wedding, as well as provided the most delicious mini cupcakes for our guests to enjoy. The banana cake with cinnamon cream cheese frosting is INCREDIBLE! Prior to our wedding we picked up a cake tasting box and had sooo much fun trying the many combinations they had to offer. We have talked about that box for months and even discussed getting another one just to eat. Ali and Mickie communicated with us well and always answered all of our questions and concerns quickly. We felt totally at ease and never once worried about our cake or dessert table while wedding planning. We knew we were in great hands with Sugar Lab. They delivered the cake on time and it was stunning! Our guests still remind us how much they loved the mini cupcakes and all of the flavors. I would highly recommend Sugar Lab for any and all dessert needs.

Wonderful treats and drinks! Located in the beautiful Ventura Harbor, Sugar Lab offers a wide variety desserts and drinks. They have a larger variety of coffees but do have teas and other drinks available. I was given a hot apple cider which was perfect for my throat that day. Also received some cool Yelp holiday cookies! Very tasty and made for a nice dessert. Want to come back to try macarons.

Tried to come here for a Yelp Elite event but couldn't make it, so we stopped in while holiday shopping... what an adorable little place! We loved the holiday themed options and even the allergen friendly options looked tempting. Ultimately we went with the Egg Nog and Peppermint cupcakes and a gingerbread cookie along with some coffees. Everyone was helpful, friendly, and patient. Can't wait until the day I need to order some cupcakes for an event!

On a busy visit to the Ventura Harbor the glowing pink COFFEE sign lured me in on the cool day! That decision was the best idea to follow my belly and love of caffeine. Inside the small but mighty space is an abundance of treats and you're favorite caffeinated beverages! Decorated in a sprinkle decor it matched perfectly with everything thing going on out doors and the treats didn't disappoint! We ended up with a handful of coffees and a variety of fresh baked cookies. The coffee was perfect for the weather and the cookies were amazing! They looked and tasted like the best home made cookies that you've ever had, not like these artsy cookie joints popping up that look good but lack that luster. Sugar lab cookies deliver on hitting that pallet and making you want another !

SERVICE: The staff seemed polite. Our order was easy and no crowd in the store to distract us (it was our first time here). A nice place to stop at for a sugar fix on the way into the pier to take on a boat ride or on the way out. Shop was clean, and simple. Oh, I also appreciated them offering just enough flavors/options. I've been to shops who only offered about 3 flavors and shops who offered too many options. Located at the pier. Parking and distance to shop was fine. FOOD: We really enjoyed our cupcakes. Good flavor. Moist cake. Not just breaded sugar. We ordered the Chocolate Peanut Butter Truffle (chocolate cake filled with peanut butter cup filling, frosted with peanut butter buttercream and a fudge drizzle) and hmm darn, forgot the other one LOL. Well, just know they were good. WELL: We will definitely return :)

Delicious cupcakes located in a quiant shopping center on Ventura harbor. Love how sparkling ocean and sail boats are a glimpse and walk away. We enjoyed all 9 flavors of their cupcakes from chocolate peanut butter, to red velvet, to vanilla, to pumpkin chair chai, carrot, marshmallow, and gluten free almond joy. Ecstatic they were Halloween themed during spooky season and how trick or treating and Halloween costume for kids was going on. I was able to order and pay on the phone for a fast pick up. I cannot wait to try other sweets like cookies and brownies. Thank you Sugar Lab!

First off let me just say that my Hubby & I are fans of this place, but ESPECIALLY my Hubby. During the pandemic my Hubby discovered this bakery & would follow their posts religiously. When they'd offer specialty desserts he'd show me & would plan his orders in advance. Before my business started to really take off he would go regularly, but it's been months since either of us grabbed anything from Sugarlab's newest location, at Ventura Harbor off Spinnaker. We headed here on a rainy & cold Sunday morning, right when they opened at 9 AM. Audrey helped us & was so warm & sweet! I got a hot cider & these ADORABLE & super fancy, beautifully decorated sugar cookies! They kind you'd normally have to pre-order. The cider was hot, sweet, with some tartness. It was lovely & so delicious! Great alternative to hot chocolate, tea or coffee. In addition to my free goodies, I got beignets & my hubby got a coffee & red velvet cupcake, which are his absolute favorite! The space is clean, spacious, well organized, bright & cheery. We enjoyed our treats inside as it poured outside. It was nice having the place to ourselves, but we didn't stay long. Sugarlab is an awesome spot to come for treats, grab a friend & have coffee or to buy desserts for your next meeting, party or get together. It's located in Ventura Harbor so it's a beautiful place to grab a treat & walk around. Unfortunately, they do not have any vegan options, or at least when I was there I did not see any. They do have gluten-free options, which is amazing! I'm hoping in the near future they'll have some vegan options, as there is a growing vegan & plant-based community in the 805/Ventura County area.

New bakery at the Ventura Harbor. So happy to see new businesses opening during the pandemic. It has been very difficult to survive. Had to go in as soon as I saw this place. Very open space and I can see them putting some cute tables and chairs for customers to enjoy their coffee and sweets. All the cusp cakes in the display looked super cute and delicious. Grabbed my self an iced americano and a white almond raspberry cupcake and enjoyed it til the last crumble. Great customer service. Wishing them prosperity, hope to see them in business for many many years to come. We all need to support small businesses so they can thrive and be successful. Lots of hard work is being placed.

My immediate thought when walking into this place was "WHY HAVE I NOT BEEN HERE BEFORE?!" So close to home, yet it took me this long to discover! I loved stopping by this super cute bake shop in the beautiful Ventura Harbor Village. I ordered a Red Velvet cookie sandwich, Vanilla bean cupcake (I LOVE vanilla), White chocolate peppermint cupcake, and a couple of Snickerdoodles. Everything was absolutely divine, with my favorite being the Red Velvet cookie sandwich. I took a bite and it was just (chef's kiss) HEAVEN. The hot apple cider was the perfect pairing and added a warm, delicious compliment to the baked goods. I will most definitely be back next time I have a sugar craving, which is....... well, always.

I know it's called sugar lab, but holy sugar. Everything is extremely sweet, even the drinks like teas and lemonades. They have a variety of cupcakes, a few cookies, a vegan option, and a brownie. Good enough in theory but just doesn't really do it for me.

The blueberry frosting cupcake is fantastic. I like how they're light and fluffy cupcakes paired with creamy smooth frosting. I really don't care much for cupcakes but these are superior in texture and flavor. The hot chocolate was delicious too! Not too sweet. Everything is reasonably priced considering the quality. They have a point system you can sign up for. $1 = 1 star. 100 stars and you get a free cupcake or something. 300 stars and you get 10% off the whole order. Cute idea.

Guess i shouldn't yelp on a sugar high. The owner reached out to me over email the same day i posted my review. They care what their customers think and offered to resolve the issue. I truly think it was square and not them. Ali - thanks for the nice email. @@@@ revised so cupcakes are tasty & you pay accordingly. This is more about my recent customer loyalty experience- which apparently they have changed, or Square (the credit card processor) has changed. Not sure which. I plugged my "number" to see if i had a "reward" (usually a 10% discount). it didn't "recognize " my number. clerk says "just pay" and try again. so i pay and plugged in my cell number - which i never give out - nothing from the machine - i ask the clerk - was it the right one? she says "yes" minutes later i receive 2 texts from square asking me to set up an account, WT?? Even though square emailed me my receipt.

Micki and her team were great! We used them for our wedding cake, we did a two tier vintage style cake that was beautiful! I love the tasting box you can order to taste all their different flavors. My husband and I had so much fun trying different flavors each night on the weekend we picked up our box. We ordered a small cake for pictures and two kitchen cakes for 250 guests. All the cakes were delicious!

We loved our cake so much!!! Sugar Lab Bake Shop was prompt with the delivery and we loved the taste so much (lemon cake with lemon curd filling). One minor thing (that is totally not a big deal because our cake was still beautiful and tasted great) is that the color was pink ombré and not pink to purple like we originally asked for. But all requests for the decorations of the berries was followed through perfectly. We loved everything and highly recommend this bakery!!!

You should absolutely try the oat milk chai latte; it's home in a cup. There are cookies and other tasty treats to escort your beverage of choice.

Sugarlab did the most amazing job for our wedding dessert bar. Cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and so much more. It was delicious, abundant, and looked beautiful. Micki was fantastic to work with leading up to the event day, and Ali made sure delivery and setup was seamless. Thank you Sugarlab for taking such great care of us.

Gluten free cookies are great! I ordered some last minute for my wedding to have a gluten free option. They were a hit!

Love this place and had no idea that it had moved to the harbor. They are very patient and helpful with deciding what to pick for pastries. The coffee the serve from prospects is absolutely great with any of the pastries.

Honestly, for the price I want full size cupcakes they are to small . The ones I got were $ 4.75 ea I bought 5 so I paid around $25 for 5 cupcakes. They tasted good but not $25 good for 5 .
