The Best Dishes We Tried In May

"White miso kouign amann or a kimchi SPAM musubi croissant If you frequent coffee shops around the city, then you’ve likely had a Sugarbloom pastry (this place is essentially LA’s original ghost bakery). While most small food businesses start off with retail and then expand into wholesale, Sugarbloom did the opposite. In fact, owner/pastry chef Sharon Wang said the past year has given her the opportunity to return to Sugarbloom’s roots. With the wholesale business, Wang focused on classic pastries, but selling directly to customers has allowed her to bring back some more unconventional treats, like the kimchi and SPAM musubi croissant, which was inspired over a dinner of Korean army stew." - the infatuation los angeles crew

went to Sugarbloom Cakery and Coffee twice in one week. The first time we had the churro cheesecake and strawberry refresher. Both we amazing! The churro cheesecake was divine. The second time I got a caramel latte and was able to pick up the most beautiful bouquet of flowers from Pop of Blooms. Both times the staff were friendly and helpful and the shop is absolutely adorable!

Ilove SugarBloom Bakery!!! My wife and I love the bake-at-home plain croissants and chocolate croissants. It is the best combo, waking up to fresh croissants every morning would be the best way to start your day!!! Did I mention I love SugarBloom Bakery, some favorites mine are: Sesame Pretzel Croissant (vegan), White Miso Kouign-Amann, Spam & Kimchi Croissant, Miso Butterscotch and Triple Threat Chocolate chunk cookies, of course the plain/ chocolate/ham and cheese croissants. Some items I want to try is the chocolate hazelnut croissant, vegan everything croissant. Anything else I should try?

Google
I just received a box of superb muffins, cinnamon rolls, and croissants. I went after the cinnamon roll first. The cinnamon rolls have a unique creamy sugary top that has the consistency of a cheesecake. Very nice. Then I ate the blueberry muffin. It had perfect crunchy consistency on the top and moist in the middle. I had both with coffee and they get my highest rating. I shared the rest with my house guests and they finished them all and gave them all high compliments.

Google
Great pastries! Downside is you have to order days in advance.

Google
Excellent croissants but the Valentines' Day set is really more for show. To properly appreciate the croissants stick to the originals. Are they the best in Los Angeles? Probably not-- they don't knock off my favorite-- but they are quite good. Remember to order 2 days in advance during the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Google
This bakery provides pastries to my local coffee shop. The coffee is fine but the pastries are so insanely good that I keep coming back every day. Try the bacon biscuit and especially the PRETZEL CROISSANT, it is God-tier.

Google
I don’t normally write reviews, but when you come across something this amazing you have to! I have been in 3 times since they opened, and always pleasantly surprised with all of the delicious treats we’ve gotten. They have so much variety; cookies, cupcakes, cheesecakes, brownies, cannolis, and more! The best thing is their items are filled with great, quality flavors and not just overwhelming sweetness. Whether you have a sweet tooth, like me, or not you will love what this bakery has to offer. P.S. TRY THE CHAI!!!

Henry Wu

Google
Some of the best pastries I’ve had! They are all super flaky, buttery and full of flavor! I especially love the cinnamon bun (freshly made cream and not too sweet), the croissants, the cookies, and the miso kouign amann!

Yelp
I tried a pastry from Sugarbloom at a coffee shop and now I'm obsessed. My love affair began with the White Miso Kouign-Amann. Having never tried a Kouign-Amann before I didn't know what to expect. OMG! It was amazing! It had crispy layers outside, a buttery, fluffy interior, and...ooohhh child...that crunchy, caramelized sugar bottom just took it to the next level of yumminess. Sadly, Sugarbloom doesn't have a store front. They mainly supply nearby coffee shops, such as Highlight Coffee and Little Ripper. However, you can place an order on their website (two days in advance) for pick-up or delivery ($20). Bake at home Croissants & Cinnamon Rolls are also available if you want to impress your guests.

Yelp
Be advised that this is a preorder only spot. There is no walk-in service and no store front. You must preorder via their web site and follow the instructions for pick up. I texted them when I arrived. The parking was a bit challenging since it was street parking only. But the pickup process took only a minute so parking "illegally" was not really an issue. As for the pastries, I don't know why anyone would go stand and wait in line at Fondry nearby instead of ordering from here. The pastries here, especially the croissants, are actually much better. Their croissants have the proper crunchy on the outside and have the moist and airy layers on the inside. The almond croissant is one of best I've had. The raspberry pistachio danish had just enough sweetness. The miso butterscotch cookie had pretty subtle flavors of both. The ham and cheese croissant was very good as well. I only wish it had the gueyere cheese oozed out with a bit of burnt edges. That would've made it perfect.

Yelp
Adding high score b/c I love a great pastry. But I missed they are now CLOSED to retail traffic. Sad to see. Maybe they will reopen someday?

Yelp
11/3/2024 4 1/2 Stars First heard about Sugarbloom via Yelp's Café Kitsuné reviews. Sugarbloom's Kimchi Spam Musubi Croissant and White Miso Kouign-Amann were their popular pastries to try. Read these items sell out quick at Café Kitsuné, so I've decided to buy directly. Sugarbloom also a supplier to many other coffee shops around the LA area. They also sell bake-at-home pastries too. ** Order needs to be placed TWO-DAYS IN ADVANCE! Pickup at the Glassell Park location or request delivery; available 7 days a week. Delivery costs $20 or more depending on your location. When you go to their website, their front page says, "Treat yourself to LA's best croissants. Delivery by our own drivers or pickup in Glassell Park available seven days a week." Delivery and pickup in Glassell will be highlighted as links to click on. You'll be directed to another page for details and bakery address. Also, they will send you a confirmation email with pickup details as well. Tried Sugarbloom over the weekend. KIMCHI SPAM MUSUBI CROISSANT Light crunchy layer of croissant. A thin slice of spam with kimchi and thinly cut nori flakes sprinkled on top of the croissant. Everything looked delish, well at least from the pictures. I cut the croissant in half and reheated it in the toaster oven. Inspite of the spam been sliced on the thinner side, it was still not heated through after being in the toaster oven for 6 mins. So basically it's eating cold spam with hot croissant. Sadly, the spam and kimchi together was salty on salty. There should have been a little bit of sweetness somewhere. An added layer of sweetness was needed to bring an overall harmonious flavor. Maybe like sauteéd onions or caramelized onions with the kimchi might even taste better and bring that sweet / savory balanced flavor. Overall, this croissant was a huge disappointment. I would not recommend. WHITE MISO KOUIGN-AMANN Highly recommend reheating in the toaster oven. I cut it in half and toasted it until it was hot to the touch and brown sugar was melted completely. The melty caramelized brown sugar with the salty miso and buttery crispy layers was delicious! Recommend! PAIN AU CHOCOLAT Reheat in toaster oven. Yes, burnt my tongue eating it as the chocolate was ooozing out of the crispy buttery croissant, but this is the only way to eat it! I love that they've added a good amount of dark chocolate inside too! VEGAN SESAME PRETZEL CROISSANT This is what you get when a pretzel and croissant get married. You can taste a bit of the pretzel flavor. It had a clean flavor. Best eaten reheated in the toaster oven. I ate it plain, but I can imagine this croissant having many possibilities. Eaten with jam and butter or compound butter or even enjoyed as a croissant sandwich. Maybe even with nutella too! This was delicious and I would definitely recommend! This was such an underrated croissant! My personal favorite! HAM AND CHEESE CROISSANT Reheated in toaster oven as always! Full slice of thinly sliced black forest ham rolled up inside the buttery croissant. There was swiss cheese and parmesan cheese which I can taste. Mozzarella cheese, provolone cheese, romano cheese, asiago cheese too and a generous amount of cracked black pepper on top. I really enjoyed this! I love cornichons, but it was an unnecessary addition. PICKUP Pickup was on Saturday. Parking is difficult. No street parking available, so had to quickly double-park. As long as you park your car close to the pick-up door, there's no issue to picking up. Rung the doorbell and door was answered less than a minute. My order was already prepared and given immediately. It is a small bakery located side by side on a street, two small red doors with a small sign of Sugarbloom Bakery painted in white. You will miss it if you drive fast, so when on Verdugo, please slow down and look for two red doors. If you do miss the pickup hours, then you must pickup the next day.

Yelp
What a delectable selection of pastries! It was all well worth the wait. Just truly splendid. The white miso kouign-amann is even more delightful than I expected. I'm speechless

Yelp
In terms of variety they have the best pastries in town! From croissants to donuts to cookies to cinnamon rolls I've tried them all! They don't have a storefront so you have to place your order a few days before you would like them. They supply pastries to businesses all over Los Angeles and you can see why because they are good. I've order take and bake rolls and cinnamon rolls during the pandemic and those are delicious too. I've ordered special Mother's Day gift boxes. You pretty much can't go wrong here. But I wish you had a small store front because I walk the neighborhood daily and I would stop in for one! But luckily, Little Ripper, across the street, who sells yours pastries provides that fix for me! So I guess keep doing what you're doing! And I'll keep ordering the big boxes of goodness from your website. Did I mention they have gluten free options? Mmm yum!
google avatar

Yelp
Sugar bloom has some of the best croissants I've ever had. My go to chocolate almond croissant is car artisan chocolate in Pasadena but usually by the time I get there they're sold out most of the time so I've been on the looking for another place to get my croissant fix and I can safely say I've found it. You have to order two days in advance and pickup before 3pm but it's worth it for sure. Everything I got was good and I plan on trying the rest of their offerings over the next few weeks. The lady at the door was also super friendly. The store was easy to find but parking was kind of hard to find when I went at 1pm.

Yelp
What? How have I not reviewed this place? This is my gold standard for croissants and I'm still mad that Blue Bottle stopped carrying them. Luckily, they're still carried by places like Highlight Coffee and a couple local places in Culver City. You can find a list of carriers on their website and it is absolutely worth patronizing one of the listed coffee shops to try their pastries. That being said, all their pastries are solid... even their vegan stuff. I don't know what goes into or how it tastes so good but it makes me question my apprehension towards vegan food. Now the absolute best thing about Sugarbloom is that they offer take and bake croissants. You can order their ready made croissants OR a pack of frozens on their website and pick a day to pickup. If you love their croissants, think about how amazing they are fresh out of the oven. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, can compare to waking up to a warm croissant. You can order ahead and pickup a frozen 6 pack at their headquarters and it makes me regret not living on the eastside. Parking: Free Street Parking, but limited. You text them when you're in front of the door and ready to pickup your order and they bring it out.

Yelp
Extremely amazing pastries! The puff pastries are so buttery and they all have this perfect crispy and crunchy texture to them! Cookies are awesome as well! My kids won't say no to the miso and double chocolate cookies that Sugarbloom made!!

Yelp
There are some foods in this world that are worth putting in effort to enjoy. Pineapples are spiky and require basic knife skills to get at the golden fruit inside. Artichokes are spine-filled and tough then tender and delicious with a little butter & garlic. Pomegranates are a huge mess. All of these require drive, planning and often practice before you can derive a truly enjoyable experience from them. To not belabor the metaphor Sugarbloom has some terrific offerings crafted by people who know how to bake. If you are a fan of slow-food (like 48 hours slow) AND have the foresight to plan ahead AND don't mind shelling out $5+ for a single pastry AND can remember to go hunting for a not-particularly-obvious door on a day where you have no pressing meetings scheduled right afterward AND the patience to find a decent cup of something warm (and maybe go shopping for the good butter/jam) to enjoy with your fancy pastry then I'm sure this place is a delight. As it stands, it's just a little too much effort for not enough payoff. Credit to them for trying to keep the slow food movement alive and (I'm guessing here) finding a way to sell direct to consumers during a pandemic. But honestly you're probably better served finding one of the many coffee shops they deliver to and enjoying their goods there when you want them and with a nice drink to go with it.

Yelp
Our friends got us a box of treats as a gift. I'm vegan so they were searching for some vegan treats. They got the vegan options that were available, the strawberry shortcake doughnut, brownie cookies, pretzel croissant, curry puff and the Black Forest hand pie. They were all really delicious! My favorite was the cookie! Probably one of the BEST cookies I've ever had (compared to cookies even before I was vegan), chewy and not too sweet . The croissant was nice and flaky, we even froze them because we couldn't eat them all right away and a few days later we just took it out to defrost and ate it without even putting it in the oven (it was still flaky and crispy!) there's only a few tried and true vegan bakeries out there I love and will always support, but an establishment that will give us vegans some top-notch, thoughtful pastry options is something I can support! I hope to see more vegan options in the future, maybe vegan cakes?! 10/10, will recommend to my vegan friends.

Yelp
The Kimchi Spam Musubi croissant was enough for me to leave a 5 star review. Amazing! I had it at a coffee shop in Pasadena and found out that this is the supplier of them. I definitely will order more in the future but I like the croissants and the white miso pastry. worth planning a two day advance order and driving out to pick it up! Get the spam croissant and you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
I'm a little torn on writing this review, given that it's been well over a year since I last had them, and all my favorites back then don't seem to be items they carry any longer, but in the interest of posterity: * Tasty bakery in Glassell that only allows for pre-order pickups * Can find their pastries scattered through the larger SoCal region at various coffee shops * Laminated pastries are all done quite well, and generally, not terribly sweet, with few exceptions like the white miso kouign-amann * They used to have a large selection of scones, as well as more sweet pastries (including rotating cruffin flavors) that were all quite amazing
google avatar

Aneesa M.

Yelp
Ordered some pastries after a friend recommended this place. I've never had a fresh cinnamon bun and my only reference was Cinnabon at the mall. The cinnamon roll from Sugarbloom was FANTASTIC and exactly what I expected. The pretzel croissant was perfect as well - it tasted like a pretzel on the outside and was perfectly flaky on the inside. Can't wait to try more of their pastries one day!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing small bakery in Glassell Park. PRE-ORDER ONLY, so make sure you go to their website and order ahead of time (2 days in advance). Pick up process is extremely easy. Kimchi spam musubi croissant is amazing. I didn't know a savory asian flavor croissant could be so delicious. What makes it great is the flaky pastry of the croissant. White miso kouign amann was pretty good. I wasn't a huge fan of the caramelized bottom layer, which added a heavy crunch. The pastry itself is really good, though. Nice pull-apart texture. I can't wait to order more. Definitely one of the best croissants/bakeries in the area!

Robert M.

Yelp
This place is walking distance from my house , the products look like 85 degrees bakery who has walk in service and no two day pre order, I hope the bloom bakery's owner get it together soon for walk in , there is no parking lot only street curb parking which you have too share with other business
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
Sugarbloom's pastries are nothing short of delicious! This is not your typical bakery with all the options displayed in a glass case for you to choose from. Ordering takes some planning involved as you need to order two days in advance. They do offer delivery for those that are unable to pick up their order within the time frame. The pick up is super smooth and Sugarbloom sends an email after placing an ordering that goes over the process. They also make baked goods for local coffee shops so you could try their pastries that way. Their croissants are soooo flaky and have layers upon layers. I've also really enjoyed their Blueberry lemon cornmeal biscuit and Bacon cheddar biscuit! Definitely looking forward to trying more of their offerings. Parking: The bakery is located on a fairly busy road, but there is a good amount of street parking (no meters). It also helps that the pick up process is less than 5 minutes so spots open up quickly.

Yelp
Must pre-order days in advance so plan accordingly! So after seeing Sugarbloom's baked goods in various cafes, I needed to go to the SOURCE. First the level of high key communication confirmation and detail is one of the best I've experienced in the client service realm. The pastries are amazing and dare I say even better than the cafes since you can't get much fresher straight from the Sugarbloom ovens. They have a days in advance pre order pickup system that works fantastically for me. I parked on the curb (then even kindly give a heads up regarding some uneven tree root sidewalk action) texted the number provided in the detailed email, and had my items within 2 minutes. Excellent system Sugarbloom and excellent baked goods!! I'm more of a savory palette and the pastries are buttery and flaky delights. I did try the following non savory: Blueberry lemon twist - solid flavor performance on both lemon and blueberry as well as a lovely subtle herby accent In the pastry, rosemary? Blueberry cheesecake morning bun, def more of a flaky sugary delight than traditional "bun" and filled with a fantastic light blueberry cheesecake mix. Will update later as I try others!

Yelp
Sugarbloom Bakery is the real deal. Literally everything I've tried is excellent. Everything is high quality - each piece looks great and tastes great. THE GOODS Almond Croissant - the croissant is perfectly flakey and the taste is just right Ham and cheese - perfectly flakey as well, just the right amount of ham and cheese Kouign-amann - crispy, chewey. Possibly the best I've had Pain au chocolat - just the right amount of chocolate. Same excellent pastry as the others Berry danish - this Danish pastry is a little different than the other items I tried. The danish had a thicker bite but was still soft and flakey. The pastry still remained crispy even with all of those toppings. Just really good. SERVICE It's covid season so what you need to do so order online (2 days in advance). When it's time to pick up, just text them and they will bring your order out. Wear your mask, pick up your food and you're set. I believe they also offer delivery. Details on the website. PARKING Street parking (free/limited)

Yelp
In order of what I liked Cinnamon roll Kimchi spam musubi croissant Strawberry almond croissant White miso kouign-amann Maple pecan morning bun All were very good but the cinnamon roll and kimchi spam croissant really surprised me. Typically don't really like cinnamon rolls but this one really redefined what a good one should be. The spam kimchi thing tasted just like you would imagine but with a butter croissant. Strawberry almond was delicious as well I only got a couple of bites, my son ate most of it. The Kouign Aman was good but I didn't like the hard bottom but the tasted great. The maple pecan was my least favorite but still would be happy if I didn't have the others to compare to and just ordered it at a coffee shop.

Yelp
Super decadent pastries with contactless pick up! The only down side is needing to plan at least 2 days ahead to order for pickup between Fri-Sun, that is if pastries don't sell out first! Not much of a problem for me since I am definitely a planner! -Ham and Cheese Croissant: Tasty! Good quality cheese and ham. It looked a bit on the overdone side but it tasted so good! Loved the cute little gherkin on top! -Spinach and Cheese Croissant: This was good but the ham and cheese was definitely better. -White Miso Kouign-Amann: A little bit salty, a little bit sweet, and a lotta bit buttery...yum! I'd definitely recommend splitting this with someone. I cut this into 3rds to share with my parents and that was more than enough. -Strawberry Almond Croissant: This was my fave of the day! Not too sweet and lots of toasty almond slivers =d -Cinnamon Roll: My fiancé LOVED this.

Yelp
I am obsessed with Sugarbloom's gluten free chocolate donut. I get mine at Civil Coffee in Studio City, but I'm now on the hunt for all the other locations where they sell too. It's so moist and has that chocolatey glaze that I loved as a kid. Back when I ate gluten. Love all they do to create delicious treats for folks like me with food allergies.
google avatar

Terry K.

Yelp
I love the pastries here I wish I could have them every day. I've tried the strawberry almond croissant, cinnamon roll, and the white miso kouign-amann and they're all amazing. None are overly sweet but a perfect taste and texture you want in your morning pastry, goes great with your favorite cup of coffee. You have to order on their website 2 day in advance before you want to pick up your order, pickups are between 7-10a on Fri-Sat, so plan ahead. I think they also have delivery options those days I haven't tried that. I'll be back for more and hopefully try everything they have to offer.

Yelp
Best hidden gem pastries in Glassell park! I found SB pastries through our local Civil Coffee pastry showcase. My faves are almond strawberry croissant, chocolate croissant, and the chocolate chip cookie w sea salt. I got excited and got a selection for the holidays and nearly kept everything to ourselves lol ;-D The pastry chef is Asian and the flavors really shine from the miso cookie, to the matcha donut and the seasonal matcha dipped croissant wc was a Valentines special. Pickup is seamless w texting instructions and text upon arrival to notify curbside pickup. The pastries and cookies are always consistent and can hold for a couple days but you probably won't need that long! :-) Stay blooming SB!

Yelp
What a TREAT to have this hidden gem in our neighborhood! Like, we're not worthy, and yet here it is! Chef Sharon is a Thomas Keller protege, and she and her team are not messing around here, people. https://sugarbloombakery.com/about/ Sugarbloom bakes goodies for several high-end cafes and restaurants around LA. But because you're picking up directly from the source, you're not paying high-end prices. This is not a sit-down dining or glass display case setup. The site in Glassell Park is order-ahead, pickup on weekends only - perfect for your at-home weekend brunches and dessert breaks. Takes some planning but damn - it's worth it. For this round I ordered the: white miso kouign-amann apple pie danish apple honey bran muffin (gluten-free) devil's food donut (gluten-free) miso butterscotch cookies triple threat chocolate chunk cookie All delicious. All beautiful. I will be back and will tell everyone I know to support this place. 2020 hasn't all been bad

Yelp
Introduction: For those who have read my reviews covering croissants, it should come as no surprise that a legitimate croissant is hard to find. In Los Angeles the few places I deem to have good croissants are as follows: Proof Bakery in Atwater Village Chaumont in Beverly Hills Syndicate in Sierra Madre Clark Street in Echo Park and lastly, Sugarbloom Bakery in Glassell Park Amongst these bakeries, the top three are: Sugarbloom, Clark Street, and Chaumont. Clark Street and Sugarbloom beats Chaumont by a small margin while both Clark Street and Sugarbloom are essentially tied in terms of their respective croissants' quality. Having been informed by a friend, this is my first time visiting Sugarbloom as a shop; in the past I have already sampled their croissants at various coffee shops in Los Angeles. My favorite is their spam with kimchi croissant that they make occasionally once a month. Today I decide to get their ham and cheese croissant, spinach and cheese croissant, and pain au chocolat. While I like the pain au chocolat and spinach and cheese croissant just fine, it's their ham and cheese croissant I wish to talk more about. Food: Ham and cheese croissant When I picked up and got the croissant it's already cold unfortunately and hence the texture as well as flavor is compromised as a result. I have no doubt had the croissant been warm, the taste, flavors, and texture will be much better. Regardless, even when it's not warm, the croissant's texture is sound. The croissant's flaky and leaves traces of oil upon one's lips with each bite. Due to it not having been warmed, the first 2/3 of the croissant I taste mostly the black forest ham and less so of the other ingredients; it's not until the last 1/3 of the croissant that all the ingredients' flavors are tasted and becomes more pronounced in the palate. Service: Adequate and expedient. Price: Reasonable. Advice: Two days-notice is required for all baked goods. If you order on Thursday, you pick the croissants up on Saturday and if you order on Friday, you pick up the croissants on Sunday.

Yelp
I have to admit that I found this gem on TikTok first but WOW so glad I did! Sugarbloom has AMAZING pastries and baked goods! All of the croissants (plain, chocolate, and chocolate hazelnut) and the white miso kouign-amann Kougg were our favorites. Flaky, soft on the inside, and not too sweet. It's a bit far from us and I'm outside of their delivery zone but I'm willingly to make the drive for these again!

Yelp
The croissants are social media perfection-- works of art! However are they the very best in Los Angeles? I'd say they don't quite beat all of their competition, although they are certainly better than most! Stick to the traditional items such as the pain au chocolat and the regular croissant, the Valentines' Day set, tasty as it is, is really more to be very, very showy. If anything, the dip is a bit distracting from the delicate flavor of the actual croissants... almost more like a wonderfully dipped donut as far as the dip (chocolate, strawberry?, matcha) distracting/adding to the flavors in your mouth. Don't let that sound as too much criticism -- I am all for variety -- but I definitely find the plain croissants the way to go!

Yelp
I definitely have an interest in supporting local Asian female chefs. I got their ham and cheese croissant, which was nice and savory. It had a good amount of ham and cheese but remained light in texture, and the extra cheese shavings and cornichon on top made it much more unique than your usual savory croissant. I can't wait to try their other pastries!

Yelp
These girls make incredible baked goods! I feel so honored to have them in the neighborhood to provide us with perfectly laminated croissants and scrumptious kougin aman. Order in advance and pick up only. Totally worth it..

Yelp
Ordered 2 croissants, 1 pain au chocolat and 1 ham n cheese croissant for the first time and they were by far the best. Super fresh, crunchy yet soft and flaky, just perfect. You do have to order at least 2 days in advance but the wait is so worth it.

Yelp
I am so impressed!! I live in Seattle and ordered a dozen omakase style pastries for my niece's 17th birthday for delivery in playa vista. Every single item was amazingly delicious and got rave reviews. They worked with me on special request, included a birthday note to her, and also were flexible with last minute change of address. I'm so incredibly happy!!

Yelp
RUDE - NOT AN OPEN BAKERY SHOULD NOT BE ON YELP AS AN OPEN BUSINESS IT IS NOT Loaded up 2 very small kids on rare rainy day to get some pastries. Super hard to find No Signage but we followed map to their parking lot in back. Went to go in but double checked because again no signage found only in the comments section that it's Only Pre-order. So bummed we went to leave but someone had closed the gate. Only able to flag down baker from a window-- she stormed out and yelled at us that we were trespassing and to leave. Then shouting asked how we got in there which we told her gate was wide open when we pulled in. Bewildered and confused we asked politely to please let us out and she rudely yelled at us to leave and read the sign out front. As we pulled out there was a piece of 8x11 piece paper in window. If you are comfortable giving your business to an unhinged business that yells at a family with small children then this place is for you. Worth noting the number you are supposed to PRE ORDER from finally responded to our text after we were down the road. Family trip to bakery turned into unnecessarily upsetting and confusing for little ones.

Yelp
This is such a magical neighborhood gem. We love this place, and everything they make is absolutely delicious. We love their gluten free selection too! When we have friends over for a get-together, Sugarbloom is our go-to spot. You need to order ahead and plan a pick-up. They have ready-to-bake items as well. Our family favorites are: spam kimchi croissant, cinnamon rolls, blueberry cheesecake buns, and miso kouign-amann. Once we ordered their BEAUTIFUL Easter-themed pastries with pastel frosting and flower petals. You definitely cannot go wrong here ever.

Yelp
I've never met a dessert I didn't like and the devils food doughnuts are some of the best I've ever had. Even gluten free! I love gluten and still give these the #1 doughnut award. AMAZING.

Yelp
WOW. We have lived in Eagle Rock for four years and did a pickup from Sugarbloom yesterday for the first time. There is so much hype with Bub and Grandma's, and yes, it is good! But for pastries and croissants, Sugarbloom is next level. We ordered a solid spread: plain, chocolate, chocolate/hazelnut, ham/cheese and spinach/cheese croissants, brioche cinnamon rolls, blue berry muffins, cheddar/bacon biscuit, and a white miso kouign-amann. They were all delicious and it is no small feat to pull off a perfect kouign-amann (this is what truly separates Sugarbloom if you get one at Bub and Grandma's..). The spinach/cheese and ham/cheese croissants were easily the best I've ever had and incredibly savory (and robust). The blueberry muffins were very cake-like and excellent. The brioche cinnamon roll, with the not too sweet frosting, was perfect, and the bacon/cheddar biscuit was quite filling. Yes, I've read some negative reviews about ordering/pickup/wholesale. Come on folks- just go to the website and read what their instructions. It's very self-explanatory. Two-day preorder. Do it! You won't be disappointed, you just have to plan ahead. And truthfully, we didn't plan properly the first time.. I wrote them an e-mail and asked if there were any chance we could place a 24 hour order. They politely wrote back and said they were sorry they couldn't accommodate us. I appreciate the communication and respect their way of business. This is a place that clearly takes pride in their work and it's worth every penny. We look forward to becoming regular customers!

Yelp
sugar bloom croissants are fantastic and very consistent. We get them every week and they are always excellent!! The people who make them are to be congratulated on the effort and care they obviously put in. They are as good as and mostly better than you can get in France.

Yelp
Miso kouign Amann! Chocolate hazelnut croissant, Pan au chocolate! This is definitely a hidden gem and you can tell the chef is putting in a lot of love and premium ingredients in her creation. Give it a try and you'll thank me later.

Yelp
This place is unreal. Everything I've tried has been one of the best pastries or baked goods I've ever had! Special shout out to the potato leek galettes. I may have to place an order every week, they're that good.

Yelp
Just try the miso Kouign-Amin you won't regret it. I've wolfed one down by myself and have NO regrets.

Yelp
We supply these pastries at the coffee shop I work for, Rosebud. They're genuinely some of the tastiest most unique pastries I've ever had. The ham and cheese croissant, the blueberry morning bun, the cinnamon roll... my mouth is watering at the thought. They're all phenomenal. I highly recommend this bakery!
