10 Black-Owned Atlanta Bars and Restaurants to Check Out Now | Eater

"Suite Food Lounge is a full-service downtown restaurant that morphs into a nightlife spot once the sun goes down. In other words: come for the lobster and champagne to impress your date; stick around for live music or even comedy nights, plus signature cocktails served at not one, not two, but three bars, including one with outdoor seating. Suite’s social calendar stays full, too: there’s pretty much always a party going on, from brunch and Falcons games to crab legs and karaoke — not to mention the lounge’s famous ticketed day parties." - Vox Creative

"The word “luxe” springs to mind when you enter Suite Food Lounge. The downtown hotspot features plush seating, ambient lighting, swanky rooftop, and a variety of entertainment experiences ranging from live jazz to comedy. When it comes to drinks, you can’t go wrong with the Downtown cocktail. It’s a blend of GREY GOOSE Le Melon, ginger beer, and lime juice, and leaves you feeling refreshed — particularly when you’re on the rooftop patio." - Vox Creative

The food at this establishment was excellent. I started with the fried green tomatoes served with chipotle and pesto sauces—an outstanding appetizer that was both flavorful and well-prepared. For my entrée, I chose the Sweet Breakfast, which included grits, eggs, and a choice of meat. Additionally, I had a fish and grit that was also delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection and served promptly. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. The restrooms were consistently clean, thanks to the attentiveness of the restroom attendant. Prices were moderate and reasonable, offering good value for the quality of food and service provided. Last but not least the server Tyler is the best at what he does and will make sure your visit is well worth your time. The restaurant manager (Craig) is a great example of a leader by making sure the restaurant stay up to par and the staff and customers are taken care of at all times.

We were staying at the Springhill and this place was close for dinner, so we looked up the menu, it sounded good and we went. The food was excellent! We ordered a flatbread, Salmon & Shrimp, and Shrimp & Grits. They brought us some crab legs due to a delay in our order. We hadn't even thought the food was taking too long, so it was unnecessary but very much enjoyed! Our server Joy was very attentive and took very good care of us! Now, we're a senior (60ish) couple and enjoyed the atmosphere but it probably isn't for everyone our age. There was semi-loud music and hookah smoking nearby. If you want great food though.... go and enjoy! We went on a Wed evening around 6pm. I think it was Karaoke & Crab night.

Absolutely my family's favorite breakfast spot in Atlanta! We keep coming back year after year. Service was amazing and the food is phenomenal.

The food here is worth every penny. I had some of the best salmon I’ve had in the city. The food is seasoned and well cooked. It was piping hot when it came out. My server her name was Jordan and she was such a great conversation starter. She was also knowledgeable of the menu, she allowed me time to be able to order and she was all around great. I’m looking forward to returning back to suite.

I actually stumbled upon this place waiting in line for the restaurant next door and so glad we walked in. My party was sat down immediately without wait. It’s very spacious inside as well, you wouldn’t think so from the outside. They had music going and tv’s everywhere. We found out they have different events on certain nights too. Our waiter Tevin was amazing (even with his manager hovering). He told us about the specials and gave his personal recommendations, one of which was the breakfast potatoes and they were 🔥 I had the catfish and eggs breakfast and the fish was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Whenever I’m back in Atlanta this is surely a place I’ll be coming back to.

Apart from the fact that the food tastes like a hug; you have individuals like Dionna C who greet you and make you feel like a million bucks upon entrance. Her shine, treatment, and hospitality is all the more reason to enjoy this spot. Highly recommend.

Google
Amazing!! This place is a complete vibe. We went for lunch and loved it so much, we had to come back to the other side of the restaurant for dinner. Food is impeccable- delicious, perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented. Service is unbeatable- friendly, helpful, treat you like family. And the atmosphere is so fun! We had no idea what we were in for. They had “crab legs and karaoke,” and it was a whole party. They encouraged my daughter to karaoke for the first time and she had the best time. We were only in Atlanta for a few days, but if we’re ever in town again, we will be back to the Suite Food Lounge!

Yelp
We were so pleased with our experience at The Suite Food Lounge! Dionna was so helpful with recommendations- we took them and couldn't agree more that the smashburger and breakfast sandwich are top tier!! Honorable mention for the passion fruit and pomegranate mimosa. Service and food here are impeccible. Also right next to the Aquarium if you'd like to sightsee afterwards!

Yelp
First thing. Get rid of the bathroom guy. Dude was on the phone complaining about not getting tips to someone. Room was super funky with ciggy piss smell and facilities were gross. It feels like the equivalent of a squeegee guy at an intersection. Second, it took almost an hour for the food to come out. How much business is being lost because people are waiting to sit down (wait time was 2 hours when we first came in for a table, ended up at the bar instead). 15 mins would be a better goal time to get food to the table or bar. Chicken and waffles could use a drumstick, thigh, and 2 wings instead of 4, kinda scrawny, wings. And maybe chop that end part off. Flavor was good tho. Also appetizers should be coming out before entree other wise it's just a side dish. Could use some more bar stools. We got heckled for moving some around after watching everyone else do it, but like what are you supposed to do? Whole bar top opposite one side of the bar had no barstools, might be cool to have them there too.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday afternoon for a bday brunch. They wouldn't seat us until majority of the party was there, which is understandable. Music was great, food was good. I got the red velvet waffles and chicken. We also ordered a mimosa tower. That was good. The only critique would be everything just took so long. We were seated and asked for drinks. Everyone just started with water so we could look over the menu. We decided on the tower. We had to wait, then as we were almost done drinking then he came back for the food order. Then that took a while. The music kept us entertained, then a guy came by and gave us wrist bands for the day party up stairs which was cool. All in all I had a great time.

Yelp
Dionna was AMAZING. The food spectacular, the lavender espresso (better thanbucks) the atmosphere was everything! Cant wait to come back to ATL for this!

Yelp
A large group of us came here for a Sunday brunch event at this popular location. Initially there was confusion on seating because although it was a large private event we were semi mixed with another group but that was cleared up and then we were able to order our food and received our first round of bottles. I had the banana foster French toast and it was delicious but it was a lot and I couldn't finish (I wish I could have taken it with me). Everyone loved their meal but the highlight was the live dj, classic hip hop, and R&B. The group had a great time! Food, drinks, and passionate singing!!!

Kerri S.

Yelp
The service was absolutely horrible. The hostess seated us in the area where the air conditioning units were where there was condensation causing water to drip all over the table and seats. We asked to be moved. They attempted to seat us one table over where the issue continued. That table had water all over it so we relocated to another table. The hostesses could be overheard talking about us because we wanted to be reseated. Our waiter was horrible. Overall this visit was terrible and I will never go back.

Ivyia V.

Yelp
10/10! loved it here! Dionna was amazing but so was the entire crew! Dont forget your card, they don't take tap but there is an ATM! also shoutout to the dj, atmosphere was so nice!!! $20 valet parking. All around, definitely recommend!

Yelp
I came here on a Friday night while visiting Atlanta and am happy that I did. The cover at the door was $20 for women and $40 for men. They offered a zelle option for an additional $5 which I thought was helpful for those low on cash. The venue was spacious and everyone was dressed trendy. The drink special was $12 and the drinks were strong. My friends got rum punches and could barely finish them. The DJ was good and knew how to keep the crowd going. I would definitely add this place to my visit list next time I come back to Atlanta. They played a nice variety of new music across genres but stayed true to the Caribbean theme.

Yelp
I really loved the place. The food was yummy but the crab cakes left a lot to be desired. Everything else was absolutely delicious including the drinks. We went to the rooftop after eating. It was definitely a vibe. I will definitely return if ever in town. Our waitress Ivanna was beautiful and awesome!!

Yelp
December 2024 REVIEW FOR CRAB LEGS AND KARAOKE WEDNESDAY Service: 2/5 Service is terrible. Of course bartenders don't wanna be there, lackluster , unsmiling. there's an auto-grat (18%) but because of the price of the crab legs, they don't make much of a tip if you don't drink or buy a hookah. Prices: AMAZING 5/5 $10 for just crab legs or $13 with potato egg and corn Hookah $40 Prosecco $14 Ambiance: 3/5 They're supposed to have karaoke, but there needs to be a complete redo of the structure. Microphones are terrible quality, host never know where the mics are, songs are confusing to choose and request to sing... Why is there a text option to submit random photos to go on the big screen, but NO QR code to choose songs? It's 2025. Taste/Textures: 5/5 Delicious! Value: 5/5 Definitely worth a visit. They just need to decide if they're going to get serious about karaoke, and if not, just keep playing good music. TLDR: Amazing deal on Wednesdays for two clusters of crabs and the fixings for under $15. Karaoke night can be improved greatly with a little effort and not much financial burden.

Yelp
Jaz was incredible!! She was very kind nd and knowledgeable. She had us lit!!! I love this place

Yelp
The food and service was excellent, the server Dionne C was very professional and very helpful.

Yelp
Came for brunch to celebrate my friend's birthday and had a great time. Valet parking is 20 dollars. The service was a little slower than we liked but the staff was very nice and the food was delicious. If you're going to drink, I recommend the bottomless mimosas over the other brunch drink options to get the bang for your buck. The towers look pretty but it doesn't have that much in it if you're sharing with a large group.

Yelp
Such a fun spot for brunch on the weekend. I came here with my family for my family reunion. It is a huge place and we did not have reservations but we were seated quickly. There was a live DJ playing a mix of RB and hip Hop. Everyone was dancing in their seats and having a good time. Despite the busyness, the staff had everything under control and the service was prompt. I got the fried green tomatoes for an app and the avocado toast as my meal. I got sangria as a drink but did not opt for bottomless. Bottomless is an option here for Bellinis and Mimosas. You can also get a bottle.

Yelp
I came here to celebrate my boss's daughter's 40th birthday. It was 8 of us and we got a nice booth with a great view of the live band. We had a 7:30pm reservation and the restaurant side filled up really fast! The day party was still going on upstairs in the rooftop area. We could hear the music coming down. The service was good. I really enjoyed my meal. I got the salmon and shrimp with sweet potato mash and asparagus.

Yelp
Great food Great vibes! The DJ was real good! Staff was very friendly and helpful! My niece picked this spot and she selected well!! We attended for brunch about 8 of us and the food did not disappoint at all! I enjoyed the fried catfish and grits, the shrimp was nice and plump, the lobster tail was juicy the fried chicken was well seasoned like 10 out of 10!! I will definitely be back and try more food options from their large menu!

Yelp
I've been to this lounge many times and have a different experience based off of the day of the week that I go and I mean that in a good way. They always have different events going on and so there's a lot that you can experience here. I most recently went for their Wednesday Crab leg and karaoke night and it was definitely entertaining to say the least. We had some great singers in the house one in particular that sang amazingly and the video I took actually went viral. Lol and overall, I enjoyed myself for a Wednesday. The food is pretty good not amazing but good enough for what you would expect from a lounge and the service was decent as well. Overall, this is a good place to go for a lively karaoke experience on Wednesdays.

Yelp
One of my friends came down to Atlanta to bring in her birthday with us. Suite lounge was the place of choice. Suite lounge is in the heart of Atlanta - right on the corner of Luckie street. We had already booked ahead of time a section with 3 bottles.. We came in a party bus and I will say most of the 2 stars was the seamless back door entry to the club. This was very convenient as I've come before with reserved seating, and line bypass but this method was very convenient for guests with a large crowd. Upon seating, our section had spilled drinks on it which you couldn't see or know until you say down which I did and my thin lace dressed was soaked. The bottle girl got one of the people to help clean it up but he came back 3 xs Without napkins but a towel smh. Moving along - the hookah girl came out first. They charge $60 for hookah and $20 for refills. We got one hookah and it was so strong nobody could use it. The excuse was that "mighty freeze was their strongest flavor". It's nonsense. I get it all the time in other locations and it's not brining my throat... When our waitress came over she said she would get the hookah girl..10 mins later she finally cane back and said it was over 10 mins and she couldn't swap it out. I asked for a manager she acted like she didn't want to take me to him/her but nonetheless - the manager said they would fix it or replace it. When it came back, it was fixed but went out shortly and no one replaced the coal for the hookah! SMH. The DJ and host did a wonderful per usual. I think this is always the best part about suite. I didn't have any food but my friends did and they ordered wings and fries. Looked pretty average to me. The bottle service was great. They came out a few times refill our juices for the bottles so that was great. FYI - Waters are $6.00 a piece. I paid about $25 for 4 of them with tax.... Outside of the hookah not being right, and getting a sore throat this morning because of it, we were able to celebrate our girl in style and she above all enjoyed herself.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing atmosphere and the food was outstanding! Service was impeccable and staff was even more amazing. Especially Milly. An absolute pleasure and can't wait to come back again.
google avatar

Yelp
We dined on The Terrace and Erica was our server. She was wonderful, friendly and made sure that we had everything we needed. The inside is like a nightclub, but the Terrace is their enclosed patio that was quite lovely and felt like you were at a hotel or in Europe. We had the waffles and ordered the honey glazed fried chicken to go with it. This was fantastic and should be an option on the menu to choose between chicken wings or the honey glazed chicken (which is basically nuggets). The red velvet waffle was delish!! Free parking- look for free parking on the streets behind the restaurant.
google avatar

Renee B.

Yelp
Nicole was our amazing server, attentive and pleasant. The food was overall very good, however the crab cakes needed more seasoning. The atmosphere was interesting as we were checked for weapons upon entering. Not expected at any restaurant with high prices.
google avatar

Myisha W.

Yelp
Deja was AMAZING!! Her suggestions were perfect. I would absolutely return. The food and service is great. I enjoyed the Terrance portion of the restaurant, the lounge was a little loud, but i was in the perfect spot.

Yelp
We made a reservation, arrived on time and we still didn't have a table after 15 minutes. It was just me and a friend so we opted to sit at the bar. We get to the bar and the bartender was friendly but she was eating and drinking behind the bar, didn't refill our water, and was basically not worried about us at all. The kicker was, although 18% is already added on the bill for gratuity, she told us "if you want add some more, anything you put extra on the tip will go directly to me" -_- she barely did ANYTHING!! Even 18% was gracious. My bill came to about $60 for a seafood omelette, a side of potatoes and a drink. The omelette was full of seafood but wasn't seasoned well because the seafood taste was very overpowering. It's give it a 6/10, very underwhelming.
google avatar

Toniesha S.

Yelp
The food was BOMB! If it's 4+ in your party, i definitely recommend the unlimited mimosas, the flavors are endless. Millie was an amazing server! She got us what we needed & was very honest about the food selections! The waffle, seafood omelette, lamb chops, & cheese grits were top tier! The vibe was EVERYTHING!! The DJ's kept brunch going from 90s R&B to today's hottest hits, my friends and I had a great time!
google avatar

Kyshia M.

Yelp
A vibe! We got bottle service here and it was cool. It was lit and what I expected for a Friday night. We had a bottle of Deleon & Moet. Big Tigga was hosting. The Dream slid through. Idk about everyone else but we had a blast. Our hostess was able to get our birthday girls a shoutout throughout the night. Valet is $40
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
This place was amazing. Grass wall. Hookah and all. I was in ATL for a conference. I thought it was just brunch but so much more.... AT the club at 2pm. The food was delicious. Hookah had great taste. And the vibe was right for a vacay brunch.

Jessica M.

Yelp
I didn't like that each person at the table had to purchase bottomless mimosas even though everyone didnt drink.
google avatar

Yelp
Went on a Saturday afternoon, and sat outside. There was no wait which we loved. It was full blown litty inside- full blown DJ, club fits, bar and all. The service was great , our waitress was warm and attentive. Ordered the Lavendar Honey Latte. It was delicious !! Shrimp and grits were decent , I've had better but they were good enough. My partner ordered the seafood omelette, he described as tasty and would order again I would definitely go back for the vibe and quick service.
google avatar

Shannelle W.

Yelp
Came out for a good time and that is exactly what was had a good time. I didn't really remember to take photos but this was a nice little vibe that i got to experience on Saturday night. The music was decent and the bartender was great. The place was very roomy had a upstairs and downstairs option which downstairs had plenty dining room seating for like hanging out it was definitely still a vibe out there, but the real party was upstairs where they had sections a whole other bar and a different kind of vibe. The drinks were very good pretty high though as far as price wise , but they were not stingy with the liquor. I had wings and fries, which were kind of cold, but came out fast and my friend had fried shrimp and french fries, the shrimp was so good I'll definitely be back again. I also heard they do brunch here. I wonder what that's like.
google avatar

Stephanie P.

Yelp
The food was very good, and our waitress Brittany was fabulous. We are a picky group of women and she did everything to accommodate us with no complaints and a smile on her face! The good thing about this place is it's 2 sided! If you wanna turn up, you go to the left and if you wanna turn down and relax with a little bit of jazz and you go to the right!! Have fun!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was great. Surprisingly yummy and clear talent in its twist on traditional alternative, I like the way they reimagined Mexican street corn. I think I go back to just for the shrimp sliders. This will be my place to take friends anytime they're visiting it at the aquarium or anything down in Centennial Park area exhibit. Great happy hour from 5:00 to 8:00 with drinks and an apps. All the apps we got from the happy hour menu were DELICIOUS. Every slider was good, The hot chicken bites, the truffle fries, the street tacos... Others in our party got some entrees and everybody thought their food was really good. They get the five star on the food. But the service waitress would be five stars hostess would be two. The fun of the rest of the place made up for the crappie initial impression. It all worked out with DJ even leading a sing along with the whole place singing me happy birthday.. but it got off to a rocky start with the hostess....That young, beautiful, righteous hostess took her job very seriously. "They have rules and the cannot bend or break" We had a large party of 15 for dinner & drinks for a birthday celebration after the aquarium. Follow this logic... We cannot sit you until you are all here. So as some arrive before others and they go to the bar. Now when everyone is there, the rest can't be seated because it isn't 15 total since some are at the bar. And the people at the bar can't just pay & join you because she's like you can't carry your drinks from the bar to your table which is crazy never heard that before. Oh and she reminds us there is a 15 min grace period,.so even though we are all there, she threatens to give up our reservation because the confusion of 'can we be seated now or go to the bar because the table isn't ready,' ( after the restaurant confirmed 4 times by text & phone with me) and we have 15 min until happy hour ends & 8 of us had been there 10 min while others walked over from the aquarium. 'Can't you just seat 7 of us while the others clear out their bar tab so we can get a drink and apps on happy hour? ' NO!!!! And you have a 15 min grace period before you lose your reservation " Ugggh. (I was so close to being... I'm Karen let me talk to the manager...haha because I have been texting and talking on the phone with a manager all day about three of our group are coming out of separate but the people will be leaving the aquarium early to come over there and yes we're all going to be there and have a grand old time, so this was so surprising that this was happening and she was so inflexible... And our table wasn't even ready.) Mind you there are like 30 others in the whole bar and restaurant. She ultimately sat us, while the others made their way over. Other than that first impression the rest was great and will likely go again.

Yelp
Ambiance was great. Every single person we encountered was so kind and friendly. The food was extremely fresh and did not take long at all! The music is a vibe. We were a party of 10 and had zero issues! Highly recommend. Our server was Deja and her energy was great!

Yelp
Great spot for a girls night out! Great club music and if you like to see the "younger crowd" on a mild club scene this is a nice spot. Wait staff were attentive and the food came it hot and well seasoned. I will have to return with the hubby and a possible great couple date outing. I lucked up on this place when my daughter attended prom and we wanted to find a good dinner spot while they were at prom.

Yelp
Located right across the plaza that holds the GA Aquarium & the Coca-Cola Factory, Suite Food Lounge is in the prime spot to start a downtown Atlanta day. Reservations: I was meeting up with a large group and we had reservations. If it's a smaller party, I'm not sure if you need reservations, but I would go ahead and recommend making them if you can. Parking: I don't know if they have a dedicated parking lot, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. You can opt to park in either the Aquarium parking garage, the Coca-Cola parking garage (which I believe are both $17), or there's some other secure paid parking lots. I found one for $10 for 4 hours that was right across from the Aquarium parking garage. There is also some street parking behind the restaurant, but obviously that's not guaranteed. Food: We went for brunch and they had lots of options, including a seafood omelette, grits, and a classic egg breakfast. I opted for the chicken and waffles and it was delicious! The berries were fresh; the chicken was juicy; and the waffle was great. Everyone around me seemed to enjoy their meals as well. Drinks: They offer a variety of drinks, both alcoholic and non. We had mimosas and they have various juices for you to choose from. They were good! Vibe: When you walk in, prepare to be wanded by security and you'll have to open your bag for inspection. There are various cute backdrops throughout the space for pictures/videos. I heard they have a great rooftop area, but it was raining when we went so I didn't get to see it. The music was a whole vibe and I would catch myself dancing along while eating. It did get a bit loud, so not a place to be if having conversations is important. But if you're looking for a good time with laughs and dancing, the DJ has got you covered!

Yelp
With large party reservations, there is a $40 minimum for each person. The first thing I noticed was the price difference between the menu online and the menu at the restaurant. Upon arrival, all entrees were $10 to $12 more than the online menu. Hookah was $60 and $20 for refill. That was a bit more than what I'm used to for hookah. I feel like this place upcharges everything during the weekend brunch crowd. The service was great though and the sweet mix flavor was tasty and smooth. Mimosas were weak. If you want "unlimited" mimosas, you might as well buy the $50 bottle of champagne and pour your own. Food was decent. Waffles were kind of hard and just warm, not hot. Chicken was fried good. Our waiter did his absolute best. No complains about his level of service. The wait for food and drinks was not extensive considering our large party. It pretty much turns into a day party after 1 or 2pm. DJ was ok, 3.5/5. What I did not like at all was the table we were seated at. It was more of a drink and hookah table. Very difficult to eat as you pretty much have to bend over to eat your food because the table is so low. I would go back just to party or sit at an actual table if I wanted to eat.

Yelp
The ambiance was everything. With music selections dating back to a time when love songs were truly about love, and R and B was everyone's genre of choice. The customer service that I received from the server extraordinaire Tray, was nothing short of impeccable. He was patient, professional, and very knowledgeable of the menu. What an absolute delight. The food had my palates exploding. The berries were fresh and the entree divine. I only frowned upon the $1.00 up charge for any dish with eggs. It was absurd. Why not just add it to the price or take them off of the menu. I travel the world visiting restaurants and different venues, and I must say the up charge for the eggs for an omelette was of poor taste on the owners part. The four stars are for the food (Excluding the egg up charge.), server, greeter, security, door man, and even the bus man. The prices are remarkably reasonable.

Yelp
The service was awesome , I really appreciate everything that our server Jordan did for us. She was extremely patient with our group. She made sure that our food was good and went above and beyond to make sure that any issues were resolved.

Yelp
The idiots who were at the door checking eventbrite tickets did not have anything to read the QR code, so they made up this foolish system to check tickets. Anyways, I attended a party upstairs on the rooftop area. The view from the rooftop is nice, and the area is open to the night air. Which is great on a hot or crowded night.

Yelp
The food is superb, the service is great, and the ambience is okay. Do make a reservation and be prepared to valet for $20.

Yelp
My go to spot in Atlanta! You can't miss on the menu no matter what you order. Had brunch at the Terrace, ordered the seafood omelette and red velvet waffles. Amazing and can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
I visited Suite Food Lounge yesterday for an event and I was pleased as always! On a raining day, it was nice to be inside for brunch at Suite Food Lounge. When I ordered my food, it didn't take much time for it to come out in which I was surprised as I with 50 people! And we had bottle service for mimosas in which the waitresses constantly kept us filled up! As for the food and mimosas! All delish! I absolutely loved how the chicken is flavored! Seasoned to perfection and tender! And I love the variety of mimosas flavors! They don't just have orange juice, but they have pomegranate, pineapple and strawberry which were all great mixes with champagne. Lastly the DJ played some great music! Very well mixed! The music did tend to get louder and louder over time which had us struggling to talk and hear for part of the visit. But other than that, I will be back as always!

Yelp
Was waiting for the host for 10 minutes and I had to go inside to find out if anyone was working. Looks understaffed. Great indicator that the service will be slow so I left for the place next door. Seated immediately.
