Had a nice experience on a date night at Sukeban, on late November 2024! Despite the small place being a little packed that day, we got attentive service. The restaurant has a nice, cozy atmosphere. The pork gyoza appetizer was good and crispy. I went for their Philadelphia Roll, and they were accommodating when I asked to remove the avocado. Using goat cheese instead of cream cheese on the roll is a great switch-up on a classic, and I really enjoyed it. I would've liked a little more fish inside the roll, but at the same time, I appreciate the size of the pieces as they are on point. My partner thought he didn't like sushi but was surprised after trying a piece of my roll and actually liking it! He ordered the chicken teriyaki, which was a generous portion. For dessert we shared the fried ice cream, an interesting warm and cold treat. All in all, everything was nice and we would probably go back. Their happy hour sounds like a good deal.

5/5 — A Hidden Gem in San Antonio! I stopped by Sukeban Sushi during happy hour, and wow—what an experience! I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and fried dumplings, and both were absolutely amazing. The shrimp tempura roll had the perfect balance of crispy texture and fresh flavor, and the dumplings were hot, crispy, and bursting with flavor. Everything was so good that I ended up ordering another roll to go—I just couldn’t leave without taking more with me. Happy hour pricing was a huge bonus. I think I paid around $6 for the roll, which is an incredible deal for sushi of this quality. Happy hour runs from 3 PM to 6 PM, so it’s the perfect time to swing by if you want great food at a great price. The vibe inside the restaurant is super fun and relaxed, with anime art on the walls that adds a cool, playful atmosphere. It’s a cozy little spot—not too loud, not too fancy, just right for a chill meal with friends or even solo. The only downside was parking, which was a bit of a challenge. I had to circle a few times before finding a spot. But honestly, the food and experience were so good, it was totally worth it. I’ll definitely be back. If you’re in San Antonio and craving sushi, Sukeban is a must-visit. Great vibe, delicious food, awesome prices—can’t beat it.

We headed downtown for some Fiesta medal hunt @sanantoniomarriott and @goodwillsa. After the successful purchases, we went to @sukebansushi for dinner. Hubby and I had Kirin Light and Dad had Sprite. We started with the Edamame and Tempura (shrimp and vegetables). We shared the Caterpillar Roll, Kabuki Roll (escolar, avocado, cucumber, smoked salmon, lime bonito), and Kareshi Roll (yellowtail, tuna, avocado, cucumber, mango, tempura flakes). Everything was fresh and delicious. Cecilia was our attentive server. 5 stars for the food quality and service! If you’re in the Blue Star area and looking for sushi, look no further.

I've been homesick and really missing good fresh sashimi (I'm from Vancouver BC where we have some of the best seafood in the world). I found this place online and it's super cute and clean inside. I love the dark moody ambiance mixed with the colorful murals. I ordered three types of nigiri: fatty salmon, scallop, and yellowtail. They came out quickly and were decent, although I know that I have high expectations because of the seafood we get back home. The raw seafood here has a different texture than what I'm used to, it was really mushy and warm. I have never had sashimi like that! I also ordered the miso soup which was nice and hot, but it was a little too salty for my liking. Big sized portion though. The staff were super nice and attentive. I saw the chef scratch his nose with his fingers though, and not wash his hands, which made me a little grossed out!

Andre was our waiter tonight! He was great, attentive, and very helpful with our questions. I ordered the gyoza, yellowtail collar, fatty yellowtail nigiri and smoked salmon nigiri. I also ordered the spicy tuna tacos. Everything was deliciousssss but those spicy tuna tacos were just so good it was my fav! For dessert we got fried matcha ice cream and that was also so good! Would deff come back when in town

Pretty decent sushi place for downtown San Antonio. The food was ok, and Sashimi was good. The appetizers were a little off. It is a good Mid Sushi spot. My complaints are that the place is too small, and the service is kinda non exsistant unless you are with the LGBTTVXQ generation, which I am not. So if you're not into that, dont expect to get proper normal service. 😅 they have most of the standard sake. However, the hot sake was kinda bitter tasting compared to most of them. I usually try at other establishments. I try to leave an honest opinion for others and give my 100% honest opinions. If this place was a little bigger or had bigger tables and the service was a little better, I would give a 4 star. Like I said for downtown and a quick bite super. For relaxing afternoon no thank you.

The sushi was SO FRESH! Probably the best sushi I’ve had in a while. This place though somewhat hidden has a great atmosphere inside. And it’s practically on the Riverwalk! Overall a great break from all the heavy Mexican food 🤣🤣

We had a great experience. Honestly, we did not expect the food to be this delicious. The spicy tuna roll was first class, tuna was fresh and high grade as well as the avocado and cucumber. One of the best I’ve had. The pork gyoza was crunchy and tasty. The noodles were the best plate, the vegetables were crispy and tender, the entire plate just flowed with authentic asian flavors. Highly recommended for a quaint, date night. A modern, contemporary place with a blast from the past. Hard to explain but with a nice, classy atmosphere.
