"There’s this excellent place called Sulga House of Bone Broth that does amazing food in such an intimate way. They’re also elevating some of the more traditional dishes that I grew up with, like a cold buckwheat noodle where they add a hint of beet in it that makes the broth pink." - Jean Trinh

Love the brisket soup and how hot it stayed during the entire meal. You can tell this is a special restaurant because even each side dish was distinctive (for example, fish cakes were slightly Smokey). Seafood pancake is very crispy and surprisingly “light” with a lot of crispy veggies inside. I loved it though it is a little bland and benefits from some salt. Service is a great. Wonderful restaurant.

I came here feeling under the weather. The ladies were super sweet and attentive and kept filling my banchan, paying attention to what I liked. I blind ordered the knee cap broth not knowing what it was, and it was a bit of a surprise but I ate it anyway! Super rich in collagen at least. Come here when you need some healing. ❤️‍🩹

Loved this little restaurant and the sweet lady who took care of us. Even though we were not regulars, nor did we speak Korean, we got the same banchan as everyone else 😉🙌 It wasn't very busy when we arrived around 11am but it soon got bustling. The side dishes were all delicious! The kimchi was just how I liked it, not super fresh but not sour, just the right amount of kimchii funk 😁 I was a little disappointed that they didn't have their Mul Nengmyung availble (it's a summer diah) but I was happy with my Galbi Tang with light and tasty clear broth. The brisket seolleongtang which was on special, seemed to have a thicker, richer broth than the oxtail seolleongtang. At almost a third of the price, it was the winning dish with fantasic cospa and amazing taste! Will definitely visit again the next time I'm in town 😋

Food at this restaurant was delightful. On a busy Sunday, we sampled an array of items from their renowned bone soup to their refreshingly cold noodles. Each dish spoke volumes about the owner's dedication and elegance, lighting up our table with both aesthetics and flavors. The dishes were harmoniously balanced, a welcome contrast to other restaurants that rely heavily on sauces. Here, each ingredient had room to shine and express its true flavor. The soup was a standout with its well-seasoned profile. There was no need for extra flavorings, a testament to its innate richness.  Yet, despite its depth, it was pleasingly light with every spoonful. I recommend this gem in Koreatown, it's no wonder there's already a high 5-star review from other reviewers

Google
I was super excited to try Sulga after seeing several recommendations on social media and the reviews. Presentation was very good, along with the service. Why the 3 star rating? The meat was underwhelming and tough. I’ve had Korean soups all my life and it’s one of my favourite meals. The meat at Sulga was chewy and tough. On the kalbi soup, we had to ask for scissors to cut it since we couldn’t but off the meat. The brisket was also very thin and dry…which is surprising given it’s in the soup. Maybe the other dishes are better.

The food here is authentic and amazing. I especially recommend the Spicy Pork. I love how all the food and banchan tastes homemade. They have tiny servings for the banchan and rice but they’ll gladly give you free refills if you ask. That’s another reason why you know the food is homemade because they really don’t want to waste any good food. The galbi tang is good, but there is a slight kick at the back… the knee cap soup is rich and yummy, and the spicy pork is really juicy. I loved the food and I liked how it came with butter lettuce wraps, but my only disappointment was that they didn’t give any refills for the wraps. I understand that the butter lettuce is more pricey, but I was hoping that for at least refills, we could’ve gotten regular lettuce or something… Anyway, the food was authentic, great, and truly homemade style. Also, parking was easy in the small lot adjacent to the restaurant so that is a major plus.

This is my first time here. Attention was very good, the person in charge is super sweet and nice. No more than 10 tables, cute place to be attended with warmth. Food was great I ordered the prime broth with 5 small side dishes and steamed rice. Everything was really fresh. Less than $30 for one person. I’ll come back soon.

Very welcoming and polite staff. Banchan was minimal and tasty. I ordered the clear soup with meat on the bone and it was very filling and tasty. My friend ordered the traditional milky soup (#1 on the menu) and it had a rich flavor to it. Will definitely be visiting again to try their other soups. Yelp
Friends took me here whilst I was visiting LA because they have an amazing deal for their seolleongtang - right now, you can get a piping hot bowl for only $9.99! In this economy, you just don't see that price anymore. Despite the budget friendly price, they did not skimp on the portions or quality! In addition to the seolleongtang, we ordered the fried beef covered in egg. We expected it to be crispy but it was quite tender and soft. A great protein-forward choice if that's what you're looking for. Sulga also offers a nice variety of banchan - kimchi, pickled radish, potato, and japchae. I'm not sure how long they'll have this deal going on for, but definitely worth a stop if you're in need of a clean, healing broth. I am definitely curious to try out the rest of their menu as well!

Yelp
$9.99 brisket soup so good!!! Get another thing so you can get the bomb af banchan!! the potato and japchae are so good. This place had all these elderly Korean grandpas it was legit. Also the male server was really nice. AYCE rice and banchan and tea. Kimchi stew was delicious! I usually don't like the sourness of kimchi but it was so yummy and I ate it with the rice Seafood pancake is also packed with seafood and yummy

Yelp
As a Korean-American I'm always looking for new Korean spots to try in one of the biggest Koreatowns in the world. However, in the last couple years I've stopped trying new places because I felt jaded by all the disappointing Korean restaurants that spring up that rely more on marketing via social media or gimmicks/flash like setting things on fire or adding cheese to every possible dish. That being said, I was a little hesitant when my mom asked me if I wanted to try this place off of Beverly--there are already a handful of sullungtang spots I frequent and I was on the fence about driving to the other end of Koreatown. But she mentioned it was $9.99 and that was enough for my cheap ass. We parked in the private lot and walked in--the space isn't huge, but definitely not cramped. We were welcomed by two older Korean ladies and were immediately asked if we prefer cold or hot water. We ordered, they promptly brought out kimchi, the dip for the meats, and rice. The soups came out in like five minutes. The food: Kimchi: I don't know if it's because I've been spending a lot of time in OC eating Vietnamese food but the kimchi was pretty good. A lot of places will take the easy route and just season cabbage and serve it immediately and it will taste like just that: cabbage and some spices. Some places try to overcompensate with too many spices and it ends up being too spicy or salty. But when kimchi is seasoned and prepared the right way and it's allowed to ferment, the deep umami flavors are clearly evident. This kimchi is good. The radish kimchi was also nice and fermented. The rice has quinoa in it which gives it a nice, earthly taste. It was a nice touch. The sullungtang was pretty flavorful--I like to taste it before adding anything and they definitely made it an effort to skim the fat so the soup tasted very clean. They give you a sweet soy with Jalapeno that you can dip your brisket in but I'm not much of a sweets guy so I just ate my soup with kimchi. Overall, I would come back, especially at their price point. 9.99 for a bowl of chadol sullungtang is great

Yelp
A little on the pricey side but I really love this spot for their cold noodles (as found from instagram, thank you instagram). I thought it was so cool they use a beet-based soup to give it that beautiful pink color and the noodles themselves are chef's kiss with both taste and texture! I believe they're acorn noodles in contrast to the usual buckwheat noodles used for naengmyun, and I prefer these tbh because they're thicker and easier to chew. I will say though, my personal favorite dish was their salted pork (mini) ribs because they were absolutely amazing!! They're so simple and clean yet so savory and perfectly tender to eat as a small bite, so I'd def recommend adding that to your order! The restaurant is tucked away and cozy inside + service is nice so would love to come by again^^

Yelp
I can easily see Sulga House as my go-to spot for their seafood pancake. The texture of the seafood pancake is SPOT ON - crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. And best of all it's thick and packed with seafood. Their beef brisket soup is solid and even better is their current promotion for $10 (dine in) and $11 (take out) as of August 2024. And can we talk about their kimchi and kkakdugi?! Perfectly fermented and super addicting that I can just eat it on its own. Parking is limited to a few spots in the shared lot with liquor store but there is plenty of street parking available right around the corner. Service was great and friendly both times I've been. I'll be back to try their kalbijjim.

Yelp
My favorite naengmyeon! Sulga is the spot I now recommend to all my friends visiting K-town because of the attentive service, varied banchan, and tasty entrees. I loooove naengmyeon (cold noodles) that I will almost always like them whenever and wherever I order them, but the beets that make the broth uniquely red and the radishes cut into flowers push this particular bowl of naengmyeon to the top of my list. I also really the knee cap soup, short rib soup, and ox tail soup; all of them have such hearty and flavorful yet clean broths and well-cooked vegetables that make even my most vegetable-averse friends satisfied. You can tell that Sulga is a product of passion because the authenticity of the food and the environment makes the whole experience worthwhile. I will continue to stop by whenever I'm in the area!
google avatar

Brad N.

Yelp
Naengmyun is certainly different than traditional naengmyuns that you see or get. The acorn noodles are much softer (almost mushy) and thicker than the arrowroot or buckwheat noodles you often get. The broth was pretty good though. I didn't love how they serve the white vinegar in individual souffle cups half filled. It's annoying to have to keep asking for more, wastes plastic, wastes everyone's time, and is more steps between you and enjoying your meal. Just give people the mini bottle / pour dispenser like normal. For the people who love a strong sour noodles. Sullungtang with brisket was on sale for $10 and was milky, deep with flavor after you add your own salt, and satisfying. Banchan were all pretty good too. Kimchi has a strong seafood/fish taste, very nice
google avatar

Carlo G.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with $10 sul lung tang. The green onion seafood pancake was also good too, but $30 for it is a bit too pricy. A hidden gem, when we got there we were the only ones there. Ambiance was homey. They have a parking lot which is clutch. Service was decent. I felt like our waiter was shy haha.
google avatar

Sammy B.

Yelp
Food was great! Service was good. Ambiance was homey. The broth tasted clean and the meat was tender. The pork ribs was seasoned with just the right amount of salt. For the price, portions can be a bit more generous.
google avatar

Glory A.

Yelp
Going to give them a three stars because the customer service was superb and place was super clean. The meat pancakes were $35 bucks and it wasn't all that special and not to mention they took forever to get it to us, we were already done with our food by the time we got it and not to mention 8 pieces of meat for $35 bucks, not worth it. The beef broth soup was good, con the beef was too tough. Hard to chew, price was good for it. The side dishes were better than the main dishes.
google avatar

Yossi G.

Yelp
Best place EVER! 100/10. The nicest staff, such authentic and great food. Nothing to add. One of the best Korean places Ive ever been to, loved everything we ordered and it was absolutely delicious! What a hidden gem! Best broth in Ktown!
google avatar

Kristy K.

Yelp
Everything here is made fresh and very healthy! I went with my family and ordered the cold noodles, rice and soup and everything was delicious. I appreciate how they give small portions of the banchans and give you plenty of refills to prevent food waste. They restaurant is located in a small lot so parking is there but can be difficult to find parking if you come during a busy time. Service can be a bit slow when there's a lot of people, but still great food!
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
I guess I know why they have such a good reviews - clean, friendly service, and they certainly know the authentic taste of Korean food. I didn't order their signature items, but tasting non-famous menus, I still can imagine their famous dishes must be good I will definitely try their signature menus next time, different kind of soups.

Yelp
The sweetest lady took my order today and I absolutely loved it. I am happy I decided to take the 30 mins drive to Sulga house of beef bone soup. I got the brisket dish which the sweet lady recommended when I told her I was looking for something healthy. Yum yum !!! Wish I had food like this in North Hollywood.

Yelp
So after a morning walking in Santa Monica and enjoying the pacific ocean, we decided to grab some comfort food before heading to a wedding later that night. Did a quick search and found this spot with high reviews and realized I had never heard of it despite being in ktown often. This place has a private lot but its not massive but it wasn't a problem given we showed up right at opening time. The service here was absolutely stellar.... The sweetest folks working and there was a child in our party to which they were also extremely sweet (bringing extra banchan, etc.). After a quick scan, we went with the cold noodles, the knee cap, and a bottle of saero soju. The food came out in fast fashion. The banchans are simple but tasted real high quality. Loved the potato banchan that wasn't oversalted but just seasoned perfectly. The broth of the knee cap beef bone soup was complete comfort food and went perfectly with the kkaduki (radish kimchi). The portions were good and again tasted super pure. The cold noodle was absolutely delicious. Loved the beet that they dropped in it and it just the most refreshing bowl of noodles I have had in a while. Honestly there isint much more to say about this place.. all the food was phenomenal and the service was great. I'll definitely be back as the only regret is that I didn't come with more people to order more food

Yelp
I came with my family on a Thursday night and it wasn't crowded. They have their own parking lot in front of the restaurant. It's your typical mom and pop Korean restaurant in K-Town. Interior isn't pretentious and the focus is selling good food. All of us got the Brisket Soup ($20) and it really hit the spot. It was packed with flavor and they clearly put a lot of love in the soup. It doesn't leave you feeling heavy but it's very filling. We also ordered the Seafood Green Onion Pancakes ($25) and they don't certainly don't skimp on the ingredients. The pancakes were thick and it was more than enough food for the five of us. TLDR: This place will hit the spot if you're looking for a good, flavorful broth.
google avatar

Shelley P.

Yelp
I was instantly hooked by seeing a picture of the pink beet-tinted naengmyun! It was the most *pretty girl era* dish I've ever had, and delightfully tasty and refreshing. Paired with the hearty brisket sullungtang (a worthy rival to Hanbat's) and fluffy eggy jeon, it was the perfect summer (I say that in mid-November because LA is the land of endless summer) lunch. Also worthy of note are the unique banchan which include potato slivers as well as a seasoned braised meat (which I've not seen before as banchan specifically). Relaxed inside even on a Saturday afternoon, I would take advantage of this restaurant before all the hype catches up!

Daveena B.

Yelp
10/10 Broth is really rich, and taste amazing. Most spots charge 16-20 for just a bowl of sul lung tang. This spot charges $10 for such good quality

Yelp
Great service with great food. All the bahn Chan was being filled without ask. The brisket beef soup was delicious. Can't wait to go back especially on the cold days. Seafood pancake was delicious.

Yelp
Wow what a wonderful restaurant! I am so glad I arrived here early because they fill up quickly. The food at Sulga is so delicious. I love the sides they give you with your meal. I tried the spicy noodles and fell in love. I can't wait to go back to eat them again. The broth in their soups is so delicious and healing. The employees are so kind and work so hard. 10/10 restaurant.
google avatar

Julie K.

Yelp
This was my favorite meal of our trip. The Short Rib Soup was hearty, clean and balanced in terms of flavor. Loved the extra mushrooms included. However, the Cold Noodles were the star. It's different from other Naengmyeons I had previously or during this trip where the broth had the perfect tartness and tinged with beet juice, giving it that beautiful reddish color. The acorn noodles were fresh and springy. Thoroughly enjoyed this meal and looking forward to coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
Their seafood pancake is sooooo good. Parking lot is on the smaller side but it's free. There is also ample street parking (check those signs though)! Service was good, banchon was amazing, and their soups were clean and light. You can tell they use quality ingredients.
google avatar

Shirley W.

Yelp
The cold noodle is soooo good and refreshing!! It's so pretty too and I like the little touches of presentation like the flower pear and rose radish! I also really liked how it wasn't so vinegary, usually it can be sour tasting and the noodles are way too long for me, but I actually really liked this one a lot. Each person also gets a little banchan set kind of deal too. We also tried the seafood pancake, which although it's a bit pricier than it should be, this was also really good too. It's definitely very thick and fills you up. Meals come with free rice! The staff here was super accommodating to our large team and they were all so nice! It's a very cozy intimate restaurant, so you will definitely feel very welcome here. Parking lot is very small, but there are plenty of street parking available.

Yelp
Really great authentic Korean food at what seems to be a good mom-and-pop shop! We all definitely left stuffed.

Yelp
What a wholesome family business that serves authentic Korean cuisine! Upon entering, I was greeted by a young lady who I'm assuming to be the daughter of the owner. She sat me down right away and offered me hot tea or iced water. Later on, the mom came out and she was friendly and hospitable. I decided to try one of their organic beef bone soups. At first, I was concerned about how filling the soup was going to be, but I was happy to find out that all the soups came with rice and 5 side dishes! I chose the Knee Cap ($22) which came with pieces of the knee cap in a light, but creamy bone broth. There was a sauce on the side to dip the meat and salt and pepper on the table to season the broth to your taste. I also tossed in all the chopped green onions. The bone broth was so homey and soothing to the soul and the pieces of knee cap were gelatinous but were balanced out by the sauce. Overall, I had a satisfying and comforting meal. The rice and the sides were the perfect compliment to the soup. I appreciate that they had spicy and non spicy sides. Everything was so good that I devoured the whole thing. I would definitely come back to try other soups and dishes.
google avatar

Yelp
This women-owned business is known for their beef bone soups. We ordered the Assorted Meat Plate soup which came with different varieties of I believe oxtail, knee cap and short ribs. The soup is serving is a stone bowl and comes out piping hot. The broth is clean. The meat was tender, minimal chewing needed as it's fall-off-the-bone. The spinach wilted quickly and gave a nice taste to the soup as well. Don't expect this to be a punch of flavor as it let's the ingredients just shine as is. Definitely soothes the soul and I could see this being perfect for when feeling a little under the weather. The banchan options were selected, but all of them tasted good and again, just clean and homemade. No added frills and pretty yummy.
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
Don't let the simplicity of the word "broth" fool you. The broth served here is homemade, and like no other broth I have had or made before. It was both complex and comforting. I got it with the acorn noodles and brisket + knee cap. It was incredible umami goodness and I'm so glad I ordered it, even though it was a hot day. My partner got the bibimbap, also delicious, as was the banchan. This is a family-run business, with just 2 family members running the whole thing when we were there. So they were very busy and somewhat rushed, but also very much cared about customers enjoying their food and their experience. Will definitely return the next time I am in LA
google avatar

Bryan S.

Yelp
Ok. First off, very awkward on 6PM dinner time nobodys there and walk in with no greetings until you step in front of them Place itself is pretty clean and prepped except restrooms dont have paper towel with dirty soap. Well I sat, and started looking at the menu, placed an order. Usually Korean Soup place serves super fast. But here I had wait. The server forgets our order comes and ask what we ordered after like 10 mins we order when there was noone lol Then she comes again confirming if its the right order which was wrong... so had to tell her right one, and I see her rushing in to kitchen. I think that was the slowest serve speed Ive seen at Korean Beef Soup place. Food itself was good. Nothing special but nothing bad either. Banchans were good too except they give you small portion of green onion as if they dont want to see those Koreans pouring green onions in their soup. Price is pretty high for the quality and service. Probably wont come back unless I hear from others that this place is really good. + 1 star for the food but other than that, nope
google avatar

Cynthia M.

Yelp
Wow great ban chan. It wasn't your typically ban chan. It felt like I was eating a grandmother's recipe that she took her life time to perfect. The pancake had octopus AND shrimp! The soup was alright. I would love to come back with more ppl to try their larger soup with more meat cuts.
google avatar

Ann L.

Yelp
Small quiet hole in the wall dine in restaurant that serves authentic Korean cuisine. Had the assorted meat hot pot served with additional creamy white beef broth. Of course couldn't leave without trying their Wild Yam/Beet colored cold noodle dish...Delicious! Service was also great and private parking available.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is THE BEST! Their galbi tang tasted exactly like my favorite restaurant in Seoul that closed!
google avatar

Elle C.

Yelp
The food here is great, the service is great, and it's a cute little mom and pop shop. My go to soup is the galbi tang with cabbage. The soup is flavorful with just a hint of spice, and the meat is fall off the bone tender. All around high quality. If short ribs in the soup isn't want you're looking for they can also substitute it with knee cap for a boost of collagen. Other people in my party ordered the knee cap soup and the regular galbi tang and Sulga is now their go to spot. There's a small free parking lot in front and street parking available.

Yelp
I drive by this place constantly on Beverly Blvd. Looked them up on Yelp a few weeks ago and see they have a solid 5 star rating. Any restaurant with 5 stars and 300 plus reviews piques my interest. This afternoon we got to stop by for lunch. Nice contemporary decor, lovely array of plants on the counter by the kitchen. We got a very comfortable table near the wall. The folks working here were outgoing, very friendly. Probably the best welcoming I've seen in a Korean restaurant in Los Angeles. I felt like a regular customer despite the fact this was my first-time walking in. Lunch began with an ice-cold Terra beer. Huge bottle, plenty for the two of us for 10 bucks. It was delicious and the perfect way to kick off a delicious lunch. BRISKET SOUP Tender buttery and thin slices of flawlessly cooked brisket in a thick beefy broth made from kneecaps and beef bones. It was clean yet delicate. The noodles were light and flavorful. Plenty of brisket sliced paper thin, easy to eat. SHORT RIB SOUP While my soup was amazing Dan's short rib soup was one notch better. His broth had more to it and there were wonderful chunks of cabbage. His soup was amazing. The mushrooms (Shitake?) were especially delightful. The array of Korean appetizers which came with our lunch were delightful. I loved the fish cakes and 2 varieties of kimchi. There was one dipping sauce with white radish (daikon), soy and jalapenos that was incredible. I added it to my soup which brought the flavor up a notch. This was a lovely lunch. It was priced well for Korean food of this caliber. The Brisket Soup was $18. while the Short Rib Soup was $22. Very fair for Koreatown today. We had a clean, healthy and delicious lunch at a place we plan to return to often. Honored to add to their array of 5 star reviews. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
The best beef soup in Town! Try it out whenever you are in the area. Service is very friendly and fast. My Kimchi side dish was always refilled to full

Yelp
Food tasted pretty good but it's honestly a one time deal for me, personally. I think social media def built up the hype and I wasn't fulfilled as the service was lacking on a busy day. Took my dad to eat some good old bone broth and the prices were pretty dang high! If you want the type of bone broth mom or grandma cooks for you, this is probably not the spot. The aesthetics of the noodles were definitely pretty and photo worthy though.

Yelp
What a great place and find! It's chilly here in Los Angeles! This past weekend, I was craving something warm and delicious. I saw Sulga on a list and decided to give this place a try. Sulga is slightly outside of the main area of Ktown, so I got lucky and it was not that busy on Saturday night. There is small parking lot and I was able to snag a spot, but it looks like there are plenty of street parking around. I got seat pretty quickly and looked over the menu. I knew I wanted the beef bone broth. I also decided on the cold noodles and pork stir fry. The location is pretty small and it looks like it is owned by a family. It had a very homey feeling. They provided some side dishes, which were clearly homemade, which I loved! As I munched on the banchan, the food came out pretty quickly. What can I say? The food was delicious. The beef bone broth was tasty. I also liked the fact that it was not gamey (which some places are). The cold noodles were delicious. I actually liked the cold noodles a little more than the broth (surprisingly, since I wanted some warm soup). The pork was also seasoned perfectly and came with some veggies to make a wrap. The owner was also super nice, asking if I wanted anything else. I am definitely going to come back here again. If you are looking for a homey restaurant a little bit away from the busy areas of Ktown, I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Ambiance: small family style restaurant for comfort food, parking lot shared with other merchants in the same plaza Service: super friendly and very patient with requests and questions Food: simple menu items, specialized in beef bone soup Ban Chan - *** limited kinds, but all made in house, the beef side dish tasted really good Brisket Beef Bone Soup - **** organic beef bone and knee cap soup, thin sliced brisket and glass noodles, light flavors, you need to adjust with green onions, black pepper and salt, recommend Spice Pork with Lettuce Wrap - **** marinated pork bulgogi, served with assorted vegetables, lettuce and cucumber, bean paste and pickled radish slices, bold taste, recommend Price: moderate portions and decent quality, about $25~$30 per person for a fulfilling meal

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Korean food, this is your place! They serve some of the best Korean soup you'll ever taste. Try the brisket soup or the Angus cabbage soup for starters. But if you're feeling adventurous, try the oxtail stone hot pot soup, which I think is amazing! If you're craving some more soup, you could always ask for more soup to be added at only six dollars more. The service here is quite nice. They treat you like family and always serve you with a smile. The ambience is excellent, gives you a sense of high quality dining, but not the high-quality pricing. I would highly recommend coming here for delicious Korean food and one of the best soup places out there.

Yelp
Overall: 4.6/5 (dine in) We came in around 3 PM and there was nobody in the restaurant and we found parking right next to the restaurant. There are two server ladies, one young and one old. Shortly after we came in, a big party of 8 Korean ajummas came in then multiple smaller parties. It already took them awhile to bring out the banchans so the wait for other things took longer. Our older waitress became preoccupied with the large party so we had to flag down the other server to grab our check. Our waitress also forgot one of the sauce we requested so we didn't get it until we were halfway through our meal and caught her attention. Banchans: They give 3 banchans on 3 compartment plate so everyone gets their own plate. It came with fish cakes, mash potatoes, & I think green onion pancake. The mash potato was my favorite and really unique. It came with cucumbers so it was refreshing. They also gave kimchi & spicy radish for the table. Seafood Korean Pancake ($25): At first, we were hesitant to order this due to the price but a lot of Yelpers raved about it so we decided to try it. The pancake was huge and different from other Korean restaurant's version. It wasn't like a flat pan fried pancake but was fluffy, thicker, and had an omelette-like texture. The pancake doesn't have any seafood smell/taste which is how I like it. The pancake is soft and pairs well with the dipping sauce. I would recommend it for sure! Grilled Pork Belly ($25): They gave a pretty good amount of pork belly but it didn't come out sizzling on the sizzling plate. The gochujang sauce was very interesting. It looked like a thick paste that was just dumped on top of the pork belly but the pork belly was marinated well enough to hold flavor on it's on. The sauce itself was pretty good and went well with everything (rice, soup, meat). The spiciness didn't kick in for me until after the meal but my husband got the kick during the meal so it depends on your spice tolerance. Short Rib Soup ($20): We added extra brisket for about $6 or 8 more and they delivered. There was so much meat in the soup but barely any glass noodles. They give you 2 big short ribs which was enough for the soup alone so you don't need the extra brisket. The clear brisket broth was very pure/filtered well. My husband said it was one of the best he's had. This is perfect to eat for hangovers or colds.

Yelp
This place is authentic and its good. The yukhoe blew my mind - it had the umami flavor and the pears were perfect with the tartar. The side dishes were all super flavorful as well. Its simple but delicious. Their famous nangmeon had quite a bit of a wait for it to come out but nevertheless very delicious. The broth was my favorite and the noodle texture is so interesting and chewy. The service can take a while especially on the weekends but i'd definitely recommend.

Yelp
For Korean bone soup they are damned good and very affordable. Ban chan are great too, and service during lunch (they were unexpectedly empty) was very fast. Do remember to ask for scissors to cut the meat off the bone, and be ready for quite an experience as a bowl of very much boiling soup is brought to your table. (how they manage to get a bowl THAT boiling safely still impresses me!) The pancake is also substantial and quite good-- one order of the prime rib beef bone soup and one order of pancake was enough for two people, although I can imagine if you are hungry (or are feeding teenagers) that might not be enough. Looking at other comments as I write this makes me think we seriously missed out not ordering cold noodles too. Interior is mid-range K-town, a bit worn but not too bad, and even though they were empty, the tiny parking lot was full.

Yelp
I'm so glad I finally tried this place! The food and side dishes are amazing! We ordered the Galbitang Rib Soup and Angus Rib Galbi. Both were tasty and well cooked! The side dishes were great and fresh. Highly recommended!

Yelp
What a Welcome, Pleasant and Exciting Surprise !! Sulga House of Beef Bone Soup is a Korean restaurant located in Los Angeles, California. The restaurant has a rich history, dating back to the 1970s when the founder, Jung Man Kim, first opened a small eatery in South Korea specializing in beef bone soup. Kim's beef bone soup quickly became popular among locals and gained a reputation for its rich flavor and health benefits. In the 1980s, Kim decided to expand his business and opened a restaurant in Los Angeles, which he named "Sulga," meaning "bone broth" in Korean. Sulga House of Beef Bone Soup quickly became a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. Kim's dedication to using high-quality ingredients and traditional Korean cooking methods set Sulga House of Beef Bone Soup apart from other Korean restaurants in the area. Over the years, Sulga House of Beef Bone Soup has continued to innovate and expand its menu, while still maintaining its focus on traditional Korean dishes. The restaurant has received numerous awards and recognition for its food, including a feature on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives." Honestly, after spending 3 months in Korea and eating Korean food every day for those 3 months, I'm now a diehard Korean food fanatic and if there is bimbimbap or kimchi or anything related to this in various recipes I've tried... its always been a spectacular taste extravaganza and I actively seek restaurants that embody healthy living and authentic traditional Korean cooking. This restaurant lives up to its traditional roots but has raised the bar very very high in term of quality, potential health benefits and taste. This restaurant has now become a part of the Top 30 restaurants in Los Angeles (in my book).

Yelp
I haven't dined at Sulga in a really long time due to moving away from this area but I remember loving the food especially the bone broth soups, banchans, and how nice the owner was. I'm sad that the change in ownership also changed the quality of the food. The bone broth soup now seems artificially milky/creamy and the brisket meat in the broth was so dried out and not pleasant to eat. My fiancé and mom ordered the short rib soup and they complained that the meat no longer falls off the bone easily. The banchans were still pretty decent but thats not enough for me to want to dine here again. :(

Yelp
This is unassuming as are most ktown restaurants but Sulga House of Beef Bone Soup is just absolutely, wonderfully delicious and healthy. So the cold noodle is a must, as is everything else on the menu but there's something so refreshing about YAM cold noodle soup. The yam isn't overpowering but it complements the cold soup well, making it a bit unique compared to what you may be used to. The angus rib soup was rich yet light. I kinda just kept eating and before I knew it, my bowl was empty, soup included. And if you know me, I don't usually drink ALL the soup (bad habit of mine I know). But that's how you know this place is so good. So there you go, Sulga is bomb korean food and they have a small lot in front that's free but... well, it's small. So expect to do some typical ktown parking space hunting.

Yelp
Found this place through an IG recommendation and I gotta say, it lives up to the hype. We came on a Saturday night and there was no wait, but shortly after we sat down, the place started to fill up. We ordered their cold noodles which was perfect for hot weather. The yam-based noodles were great texture, not too chewy, whereas the traditional buckwheat noodles can be a lot. The broth was refreshing and crisp. The ambiance was modest and cute. Not a lot of tables, which I kinda liked. Service was great and food was delicious. Highly recommend!

Yelp
***3.5 stars*** Sulga House of Beef Bone Soup had been on my list of restaurants to try for a while. I love a good Korean bone soup, so I was pretty excited to finally get a chance to try this place. We came at an off hour, so maybe that was our mistake. While I still found our meal here enjoyable, I'll admit I was a little disappointed. To eat, I ordered the Brisket Organic Beef Bone Soup, priced at $16. Service was quick and friendly. Overall, I thought the soup was good, but not great. The brisket was a bit dry/chewy, and the noodles didn't have the best texture, either. The broth wasn't too noteworthy, even after adding a generous amount of salt and pepper. The banchan was actually the highlight. All of the side dishes were very fresh, and seemed to be put together with a lot of care. It makes me think that we got a little unlucky with our soup. Will I be back? Not sure. There's a lot of great restaurants in Koreatown, and while I suspect we caught Sulga on an off day, our first experience here wasn't particularly memorable.
