I visited this restaurant back in May and had an amazing experience. It’s a peaceful and welcoming spot perfect for sitting down to enjoy a meal without feeling rushed. I ordered the chow mein with pork and shrimp, along with dumplings, jasmine tea, and apple juice. One thing to note: while many Chinese restaurants offer a “House Special” chow mein (with a mix of meats), this place doesn’t list it on the menu. However, I was able to request it, and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. It was a thoughtful gesture that made the experience even better. I chose this restaurant over others in Chinatown after doing some detailed research, and I’m glad I did. I’ll definitely return the next time I’m in San Francisco.

Google
Sum Dim Sum was a straightforward and quick place to eat. I ordered the barbecue pork noodles, and I had no complaints. The ordering process was speedy, and I was surprised by how fast the food arrived. The service was fine. If you visit with modest expectations, the food should satisfy you. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here, especially since I could eat something quickly and then continue exploring Chinatown.

Google
First time here. I figured when in Chinatown…. Although the service was excellent the food was just good. I’ve actually had better Chinese in Inner Richmond! I ordered the shrimp dumplings and garlic noodles. I hate to be honest but I expected a little better.

Brianna M

Google
The food was delicious! I had the spicey Dan Dan noodles and highly recommend. My friend had the vegetable dim sum and loved it.

Kate Sikora

Google
The chicken garlic noodle was bomb, super garlicky and the chicken was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. Our server was super attentive, great and fast service, highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back again.

Google
Got soup dumplings, pork buns, and scallion pancakes. They were all a decent 7/10, nothing spectacular, but all reasonably good. $35 out the door including tax, so a little pricy but not bad.

Google
The server at the counter was helpful in choosing a couple of dishes. The runner from the kitchen dropped the food with a look of frustration and turned around quickly. The food was tasty (scallion pancakes and some dumplings) and just the right amount for my snack/meal. The large size of the dining room and the industrial decor make me wonder if the locals eat here, or is it mainly for groups of tourists?

Google
Decent spot for some no frills dim sum. Place your order at the counter and then take a number sign to your seat and they will bring it out to you. The food came out really quick. So if you're looking for good dim sum quick then this is the spot. Ps: the chili Sriracha on the table is super spicy... I love spicy, but this made me cry.

Yelp
Went to the SF for the China Town Festival and NBA All Star events. Stopped here for a quick bite. Had the Shrimp and Pork Sui Mui. Come 3 in a box. Guy at counter was welcoming. The menu was very clear and easy to read. Good quick bite. Plan to go back to try more items on the menu. Easy walk from the Montgomery Street BART station.

Yelp
I gave this spot two chances and was very disappointed both times. Walking around Chinatown, this spot catches your eye as the outside seems fairly more established than other spots, it's big and open, and seems more tourist friendly. You order at the counter here, sit down at one of their many tables, and they bring out the food for you. The first time I went here, it was crowded and there was barely any seats. I figured it must've been a pretty decent spot for so many people to come. So, my friends and I ordered a couple dumplings to share. Although they weren't the best, they were something to eat (because we were starving). Until I bit into one that was ICE cold--like, still was solid ice in the middle. It was disgusting. The second time I went here, I came with my partner and the place was fairly empty as it was a weekday (like there were only 3-4 tables out of their 15+). We waited at the counter to order for about 5 minutes before anyone came up. And, somehow the food coming out seemed even slower than last time (when it was super busy). This time, the quality seemed even worse. The taste wasn't bad, but it didn't look very appealing. In addition, they forgot one of the items we ordered. Overall, they've messed up so many times that I don't think I would ever try it again.

Yelp
Came in on Sunday at lunch so a little busy but filled up quick after I got here. Food I got a couple dim sum favorites. Pork shu mai and shrimp dumplings. Took a little while after I ordered but not too bad. The service was pretty quick. Nothing spectacular but no frills. Just getting stuff done Looked like one cook, one serv Ambiance felt like a cafeteria or a quick shuffle in and eat and out. I think this place would have been better if they just pushed around traditional dim sum Cart to choose and eat. Probably make more and sell more but who knows. Cool wall mural and bao pop art.

Yelp
Convenient location just a bit before you hit China Town in the Bay Area! Great menu and the food came out sequentially rather than bombarding all at once.
google avatar

Yelp
I want so badly to like/enjoy this place since I work so close but 20+ mins for one order while no one is here is a little ridiculous. (See photo for order. Yes, it was ONLY shrimp dumplings. Edit: Shrimp tastes absolutely frozen and the dumpling are cold. I actually threw it out. The times on the door on inaccurate and I can never really tell when the place is open. There are plenty of other places on Chinatown. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
google avatar

Myrtle D.

Yelp
They took a very long time to give me a quick bun order. Not a good place if you're in a hurry.

Rob B.

Yelp
Convenient and inexpensive dim sum place in Chinatown. Not the best but not bad. I tried the pork shiu mai, BBQ pork bun, and some garlic noodles (forgot what they were called). Service was mediocre but the food was adequate. For that, three stars.
google avatar

Ambar R.

Yelp
Very easy to order, the spicy wontons were juicy, amazing and flavorful. Also had the popcorn chicken which was equally yummy. I ordered the BBQ steamed buns but found them to be too doughy tasting. Food was fairly priced.
google avatar

Corina Q.

Yelp
Stopped by to grab some xiao long bao for dinner. I got two orders (3 pcs $6 for one order) and it was ready in about 15 minutes. The skin was a little thicker than I would've liked, and by the time I brought it home, the soup from sone of them had seeped out which was a bummer. The overall taste was very good - meaty, perfectly salted and was a nice portion for the price.

Yelp
Review based on my dumplings, staff friendliness, and potential. I stopped here on my way to the Westfield mall. I was super hungry and needed a snack. I ordered the shrimp dumplings which were $5.95. The dumplings were delicious, elegant, and sumptuous. The staff was friendly. The ambience was lack luster (I was there at 12 pm. It may be better in the evenings) and a pigeon walked in, strutted around, then relaxed while I was waiting for my food which made me question their cleanliness in general.

T H.

Yelp
Nice clean spot. The person that helped order was very patient & gave good advice. Food came out fast as we were in a rush. Would come again.

Yelp
I can't remember last time I've been so disappointed . I was holding back on leaving a bad review but I just had to. It hurt real bad spending $90 on some bad food. I should have known when I saw them serving on paper trays. I swear they must have bought this food from the local grocery store in the frozen section, microwaved it and served it to us. My fried shrimp was cold! I was so close to asking for my money back but I will take my loss. Is this what people spend money on mannnnnn.

Yelp
We stopped in at Dim Sum Corner after the Warriors Championship Parade in SF today. We really enjoyed the food and the casual environment. We ordered the chow mein, wagyu beef bao, pork soup dumplings and pork and shrimp shui mai. Everything we ate was delicious but our favorite was the soup dumplings with a little kick of ginger in them. The chow mein was a great addition to our dim sum and was light but filling. Our service was pretty slow but I'm guessing that was due to the after-parade rush. The staff was really nice and apologized for the wait. Overall, I would recommend stopping in and I would go here again!

Yelp
We stopped by for lunch after an event in Chinatown on Saturday. The place is fairly modern, but we didn't have a lot of drink options that day: hot green tea (and we got the last one) and cans of soda. As it was San Francisco, it's a bit overpriced for the quantity, but expected. The fried rice was good, hot and flavorful. The wagyu beef bao was definitely unique, with a heavy pepper flavor. The siu mai was fresh and tender. The shrimp dumpling was just ok. The skin was already breaking when you try to lift it up. And the xiaolong bao was not soupy or memorable. Not a bad place to stop by for a bite if in the area, but nothing I would search for.

Yelp
Came here right after 2022 Chinese New Year parade. Pretty busy at the time but definitely worth the wait. Get in line and order immediately; cashier will give you a table number then find a table. I recommend to have someone in your group to scope out a table while you order. Prices was a bit high; maybe it was jacked up during the parade. Food came out pretty quickly and was served mostly to go style w paper plates and plastic utensils. I had requested for chopsticks and was told they did not have any but I clearly saw plenty on the service counter. So I had to walk up to the counter and requested again. They have a sign on the counter that said not self service for customers but waiter said to help my self!? ...that includes soy sauce packets and chopsticks. Also self service for water. Food however was pretty tasty especially the wonton noodle soup; my favorite. Also ordered several other dim sum which were ok but definitely satisfied our cravings to celebrate Chinese New Year. Staff were friendly and hard working to make sure all customers were happy and satisfied. Servers were diligently hurrying to serve orders and clearing tables for new customers.

Yelp
I was going to give this place a 3.5 but went to 4 because no halfsies. Place is kept clean for the amount of people always in and out of here. Bathrooms available for customers. Food was fast and good for the price, the service was so friendly and people were kind. It's a good place to get in and out quickly. Ambiance has pop art and service is cafeteria style. The bao buns were okay.. if they were any better they'd get a 5 star
google avatar

Yelp
Grabbed some dim sum at the corner! They had both indoor and outdoor seating available. The cashier in front seemed a little confused when we asked him if we needed to order first or if they'll be taking it at the table. We ordered: - Wagyu Beef Bao - Classic Shiu Mai - Har Gow - Classic Chicken Potstickers - Chicken and Pork XLB The food was ok, had to wait awhile for everything to come out. Was excited for the Wagyu Baos but it didn't really taste like anything. I did enjoy the Potstickers because of the thick crust. Everything else wasn't really memorable. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back to this place since there are cheaper alternatives if you keep walking down the street. Our total came out to be $70, which I thought was too overpriced for the amount of food we got.

Yelp
Clean, modern dim sum joint. I stopped here today and had a mango passion iced tea, an order of pork soup dumplings and pork bao. Everything was great. They checked my ID & vaccination information, gave me a number & brought the food. The iced tea was great and was in a to-go cup so I was able to walk around the festival with it. I thoroughly enjoyed everything. They had bright, clean bathrooms, too. I appreciated that.
google avatar

Yelp
No frills and pretty affordable..The food we ordered in the picture was under $60 with tip. The dumplings are tasty and come out quick. But, this is like a picnic place with soy sauce and crystal louisiana hot sauce packets for condiments, plastic forks, etc.

Patricia G.

Yelp
It was great to have a place to sit in China Town. The ambiance was ok. The food was not NEARLY as good as the most of the other dim sum in the area.
google avatar

Donna L.

Yelp
We got the Chinese bbq pork with cabbage. I was pleasantly surprised. The Cha sui was flavorful and the cabbage crunchy.
google avatar

Trevor S.

Yelp
We waited a really long time, paid $20 each for the combo meal, and it was some of the worst food I have ever eaten in my entire life. The chow mein was cold and bland and the portions were tiny. We had to go eat somewhere else immediately after leaving here. I wish I'd taken a picture of it for proof. Don't let the long line out the door fool you, it's not worth the wait.
google avatar

Andrew D.

Yelp
Everything was served on disposable cafeteria trays with plastic utensils and they gave us only 1 packet of soy sauce and 2 packets of TAPATIO to split between 4 people. First off, who tf eats dim sum with tapatio. Second, why was the food surprisingly good.

Mae G.

Yelp
I can not believe we paid $30 for some shitty noodles and potstickers. We waited in line for almost twenty minutes which i dont mind if the food is at least decent. After ordering we sat at our table for an hour and watched as people who ordered after us received their food first. Noodles were dry, potstickers were soggy and bland. Overall not a good experience - would not recommend.

Yelp
Looking for a quick bite after a Noontime Concert at Old St Mary's and this place did not disappoint. Super fresh tasty dumplings, baos and noodles, delish and reasonably priced im definitely coming back!

Waelyn L.

Yelp
This place is okay but its not great. I got the pork bun which was good and I also got the deep fried tofu which was pretty good. The food was really quick. Finally the inside of the restaurant has some cool pictures.

Yelp
Good dim sum [Chinatown in San Francisco] We had (takeout) dinner plans at another restaurant but we wanted to snack on something while in Chinatown. Many restaurants were closed for the day but we found this place open located on the corner of Grant Avenue and California Street across from the Old St Mary's Cathedral in the Chinatown neighborhood of San Francisco. While COVID restrictions were in place we were only able to do takeout. The menu board had a variety of dumplings and baos to choose from. That's it. We ordered 2 orders of the Classic Shiu Mai, $5.95/4-pcs... they were tiny pieces but filled with deliciousness which included pork, shrimps, and shiitake mushrooms. And like the 2000 Nicolas Cage film it was Gone in 60 Seconds. These delectable bite-size cooked-to-order dim sums were pricey for something so small a serving. Inside of the restaurant has a modern look with mural accents. Contrary to what their Yelp page states I didn't see a place for outdoor dining. We ate at the steps of the Old St Mary's Cathedral. There was only one employee working at the time of our visit. He was pleasant and friendly. Review #2084

Declined P.

Yelp
This is the kind of place which is only for tourist. Frozen product which they can't even reheat properly.

Yelp
DELICIOUS!! Unfortunately I'm not sure exactly what we had other than an amazing plate of Mongolian beef - we were starving and hadn't had dim sum before so had the cashier pick some items for us. I do know we had an order of steamed pork(?) buns, 3 different types of steamed dumplings, and another dumpling that looked different - and fantastic!! Everything was straight from the kitchen to our table. The atmosphere is uber casual - almost cafeteria style- comfortable and unassuming and perfect during a hustle day of sightseeing. And, maybe the best jasmine green tea I've ever had!

Yelp
Good food. Nice place to sit, eat and relax. Would definitely eat here again. The workers we not overly friendly but NOT rude.
google avatar

Spencer Q.

Yelp
Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: It's definitely more modern than most of the other places in Chinatown which of course comes with a price. It's a good location since it's one of the first ones you will encounter as you walk through the Grant Avenue Gates. Food was decent but a little overpriced. The extended review... Food: Shui Mai - 3.5/5 - Good flavor and texture on this. They are a little on the smaller side compared to what I've eaten at other placed but definitely on par with taste. Har Gow - 3/5 - Again good flavor but the wrappings were basically falling off as we were eating them, Service: 4/5 - Good and friendly people at the registers. Ambiance: 4/5 - The inside definitely looks nice and pleasant, The outdoor seating is small but there are a few seats to enjoy your meal.

Yelp
Beautiful building, great location, excellent service!! 5/5 stars!! Delicious and casual dim sum spot that will satisfy all your cravings. Workers are very sweet. Also got an amazing egg custard bun for dessert that isn't pictured.

Gerard V.

Yelp
I went there for a quick bite and ended up waiting for 35min for only one course. There was another customer who left after waiting for too long. Initially, I was thinking to put one star, but the waitress was apologetic and offered me a dessert. The food was ok but nothing extraordinary.
google avatar

Cherylyn A.

Yelp
I was looking forward to some dim sum since we barely have any good places back home and was a little disappointed with the vibe of the restaurant. It's definitely more of a take-out place than a sit down restaurant. The plates and utensils were probably cheaper than what I wouldn't actually use at a party.
google avatar

Olive R.

Yelp
Time for an update. I have come here a couple more times just to give them a few more chances, and I have gotten more impressed with the food. The shrimping steamed dumplings are my favorite now. and The pork/shrimp open faced dumplings are also a good second choice. I also get them to go and head to the bus after work. The ONLY issue I currently have with this establishment is the lack of employees. I really wish they would hire more people. I feel horrible for the one gentleman who's trying to accomplish so many things at once. They make the dumplings: made-to-order, there's usually a line, the distance to the kitchen to the cash register is not short and the menu is not short but I know that it does take some time to register/process everything at once. Man, the owner needs to hire at least 2 more people!!
google avatar

Waverley H.

Yelp
We stopped by for a mid-afternoon snack between errands. Business was slow and quiet, and nobody was at the front register when we came in. After placing our order and taking a number, we were told to seat ourselves anywhere- but we noticed that the tables had not been wiped down. After a 15 minute wait, we shared a few orders of the pork XLB, shrimp dumplings, and shiu mai. The food came in a paper tray with various sauce packets but everything was solid and hit the spot. The wall murals were nice too!
google avatar

joanne c.

Yelp
Excited to come because of these reviews. But the place is sterile. You order at the counter and they bring your your items. All food served on paper plates and plastic forks. And yea out of a paper cup. And who knows if dim sum is made on site? It appears to be one of those places where food is made in a different kitchen and then heated up on site. For a genuine dim sum experience go elsewhere, esp where the Chinese seniors and families are
google avatar

Keith B.

Yelp
What a shame. Each offering is average at best. Served in a paper dish with plastic forks, soy sauce packets and MEXICAN hot sauce packets. Service is well...they bring the food. Very disappointed after looking forward to a great experience in Chinatown in San Francisco.
google avatar

Jason N.

Yelp
Okay, so the wagyu bao definitely doesn't taste like wagyu at all. Like grounded beef more like, it wasn't bad, the bread bao is fluffy which is a plus. The egg custard bao wasn't bad either. The presentation from outside was nice, that's what drew me in; as for as the food, I wouldn't come here again.
google avatar

D J.

Yelp
food has absolutely no flavor. they give you soy sauce that tastes like water & packets of crystal louisiana hot sauce in a sad attempt to give you some flavor.. service was fast and the people were nice, but the bathrooms were dirty and out of paper towels. my chow mein had no substance, no flavor, and was ice cold!! it felt like it had come out of a freezer and wasn't microwaved long enough. don't even get me started on the rice.
google avatar

Christina O.

Yelp
The food comes out in cheap cardboard trays. Everything sticks to it. The pictures on here are not what you get. No flavor.

Alpana S.

Yelp
Total tourist trap. Overpriced. Not great dumplings at all. A little misleading. $7 gets you 3 xlb. Outrageous. $7 gets you two tiny steamed pork buns. When we asked for spicy sauce, they gave us packets of Crystal hot sauce. Would not recommend.

Yelp
Thanks to yelp friends, I was able to find this new dim sum fast casual restaurant at the corner of Grant and California. It's at the bottom of the old Cathay House and right at the edge of Chinatown. They offer classic dim sum fare, noodles and rice plates, a nice combo option (basically like a bento box) and boba. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and ordered the XLB deluxe and their super combo (Siu mai, sesame beef, salmon pastry puff and pork slider). The food was good value for money (it's not the best dim sum in town but definitely hits the spot when you are craving some Chinese food). It's not greasy either. With tax and tip, this was $25. It's a counter service situation and the decor is nice and modern. I would definitely come back here if I'm in the area.
google avatar

Steven P.

Yelp
Stopped in on a mid afternoon weekday. It's near the Chinatown Gate, so we decided to give it a try versus walking further into Chinatown. From the outside it would appear to possibly be an older, traditional establishment. However, inside it is quite modern. Almost had a "fast food" type of vibe. Menu is on the wall and you order at the counter and take your seat. We ordered beef shumai, egg drop soup, orange chicken, beef chow fun, and salt and pepper wings. Beef shumai was good - generous beef portion with good flavor. Orange chicken was just not great. Small pieces which seems like more skin than meat. Beef chow fun was decent - meat was tender and noodles were cooked correctly. Wings were okay - crispy and hot, but maybe too much salt. Self serve stations exist for water and soy sauce and other condiments. Not what I was looking for in a traditional Chinatown place, but maybe I let the modern look distort my overall impression.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Reasonable small dim sum plates for $5-6 per plate. Small portions tastes ok. Took some condiments at the countertop accessible to customers as I was looking for soy sauce and got a lecture... fun.
google avatar

Carolyn T.

Yelp
So happy we ran into this new place. The quality of their dimsum is excellent . A different take to the usual dimsum sold in Chinatown . Limited take out menu due to Covid . I hope they survive because the location is great and so is the food . They took over what used to be Macdonalds on the corner of Grant and Powell.

Cheese B.

Yelp
Great food and nice place. Service was fast I think the waiter needs a raise. The surrounding was filled with pictures of history of Japan tons of TVs to.a true 5 star restaurant.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of fast/fine casual and think it's high time that format came to dim sum. Because prior to this joint, you either had to commit to a sit-down pushcart experience or grab-and-go from places where the it's quite unknown how long ago things were made. Judging by the time it took to get my order, it seems like they make some of the items to order. XLB Deluxe Trio (Crab Roe/Truffle/Juicy Pork): A very rare item to find at a dim sum to-go place, so happy that they're offering a snack-sized version in a fast casual setting. It's got some soup inside, but not as a juicy as Yank Sing. The juicy pork was pretty much the standard; tasty as expected. Wasn't a fan of the crab roe since it had a grainy texture without adding much unique flavor. The truffle was very good though. Not sure exactly how much truffle vs. other fungi they used, but it sure had a nice umami kick. Classic Shiu Mai: Standard ground pork and shrimp. Didn't have any gristly pork chunks like cheaper dim sum to go places like to use. Macau Egg Tart: Ew, this is definitely no Gold Gate Bakery. Probably the most disappointing item I tried. The egg custard was dense and lukewarm instead of being airy and piping hot. Sesame Beef: Kinda like something you'd get at Panda Express. Breaded, fried crispy and slathered in a sweet and sticky sauce. Still indulgently tasty though, as Americanized Chinese food tends to be. Smoked Pork Belly Bao Slider: A do-it-yourself situation with three pork belly pieces on a skewer, a side of sauce and a bao. The pork belly was indeed smoky and just the right mix and firm yet tender. The bao was fine, nothing remarkable. The sauce was ok, would have liked it to be thicker. Kinda wish it wasn't separated, since I love when the pork belly has been lacquered in sauce for a long time.

Yelp
My first time here! I ordered mostly your regular dimsum (shiumai, etc). The dimsum is flavorful and really good but the price is a bit high for a dimsum . The staff were really nice and service is awesome. Covid-19 protocols being followed at this place with inside and outside dining. This place will cost at least 20 dollars per person that's with food and drinks. Will be back here coz the place is clean and organize.
