Yelp
I've heard so many great things about this place from friends and Yelpies, so I've been itching to check out this place for awhile now....and I finally did, and this was my experience.
First of all, the place has its charms. It was minimalistic, but had this rustic leaf-motif...and a nice, open, relaxing vibe. It had a good amount of space, and a nice variety of seatings. I also loved its overhead music...very cool!
Now, sadly, must mention some disappointments. Their pastry selection just didn't appeal to me at all...but I thought I'd try their Ham & Cheese Pastry, as well as their Panka Pesto Sandwich. I also ordered Matcha Latte. Overall, I thought their menu was a bit too skimpy...a bit incomplete.
Although their plump Ham & Cheese Pastry looked appealing enough, it was bland and tasteless...almost shockingly so?? The Panka Pesto Sandwich was very nicely presented, but I can't say it was delicious...'cuz it just wasn't what I had hoped. For some reason, I thought Chicken was included, but it was basically Prosciutto, Cheese and Arugula. It was really my bad since I didn't thoroughly check the ingredients before ordering.
The most disappointing part for me was the Matcha Latte. Given that this is a coffee bar, I expected this to be stellar. The Matcha flavor wasn't as great as I had hoped. Also, the latte usually comes sugared...but not this one. I'm surprised the staff member didn't even ask for my preference. Anyway, I was able to fix it by adding sugar myself...but only after destroying the "Latte Art". Also, since this was a coffee bar, I expected better Latte Art (as seen in other Yelp pics!)...but mine wasn't all quite there. BTW, initially, they didn't even add any "Latte Art"...so I actually had to ask for it. *SIGH* Maybe I'm being too harsh, but the last Matcha Latte I had was at Renaissance Patisserie just last week, and theirs was much better (and I didn't have to ask for "art' or sugar!)...though I expected a better version here, given their name.
Overall, I was more impressed with the ambiance than the foods and the Latte. Maybe it was an off day?? In any case, am glad I checked it out.
