The Best Dim Sum In Seattle

"This popular Vancouver-based spot has a Bellevue location where people often line up well before opening, even on weekdays. It’s not all hype—Sun Sui Wah serves some great dim sum dishes with flair. Inside the grand chandelier-filled dining room with a live fish tank, big groups gather around lazy susan-topped tables and ponder a picture menu that’s about the length of a car parts catalog. While the famed har gow is a bit of a letdown, you’re in good hands with dishes like the shatteringly crispy shrimp-stuffed egg roll, meaty shui mai, and the deep-fried taro dumpling with a rich ground pork center that's like breaking open a Lindor truffle." - kayla sager riley, carlo mantuano

Sun Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant Review - Bellevue - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This popular Vancouver-based dim sum restaurant has a Bellevue location where people are lining up well before opening, even on weekdays. It’s not all hype—Sun Sui Wah serves some great dim sum dishes with flair. Inside the grand chandelier-filled dining room with a live fish tank, big groups gather around lazy susan-topped tables and ponder a picture menu that’s about the length of a car parts catalog. It’s easy to be overwhelmed, but you’re in good hands with dishes like the shatteringly crispy shrimp-stuffed egg roll, meaty shui mai, and the deep-fried taro dumpling with a rich ground pork center that's like breaking open a Lindor truffle (you can avoid the bland har gow). While Seattleites have a couple of superior dim sum options in Harbor City and Jade Garden, Sun Sui Wah fills a void on the Eastside admirably. Plus, after 5pm they have a dinner service that involves squab—which we look forward to checking out." - Kayla Sager-Riley

Came here as we have visiting family and wanted a nice restaurant with a private room. To book a private room, you'll need to order a minimum $ amount. We ordered their top set menu and 2 other dishes and it was more than enough to cover for the private room. All I can say was this is one of the most memorable meals in a long time. The food and service was top notch. We had a dedicated server for our room who was very attentive. Each food item was a "wow" experience. The best dish that everyone loved was the "Chef Special Slow Cook Braised Beef Ribs". The beef ribs was fall off the bone and juicy. It was interesting as it had small potatoes with other veggies that made it feel like a western dish. High praise to the chefs and server that day. Will definitely be coming back here in the future. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

This name has been here for years. In the past it was definitely considered one of the top best places to go. We scroll through the years to now and well… the dim sum has suffered in my opinion. But their dinner is definitely worthy as a heavyweight contender of Vancouver. Banquet style dishes. Quality service. Quality food. Dinner is amazing and I highly recommend this place for anyone. They host special occasions and events as well. I’ve been to this location many times for wedding events and birthdays, dinner service of course. Just wish their dim sum felt more premium…

At first, I was a bit worried when I saw how old and run-down the entrance looked, but once inside, the decor was actually quite nice. We came for dim sum and were pleasantly surprised by how tasty everything was! The honey and garlic spareribs were super crispy, and the deep-fried squid was fresh and perfectly chewy. For dessert, we ordered the mango pudding, which came shaped like a corn cob—definitely unexpected! It looked fun, but the taste was a bit disappointing. It didn’t really have any mango flavor—actually, it didn’t have much flavor at all. Still, it was an interesting presentation!

Food: 4/5. Really enjoyed the pork congee with pork and century egg, pan fried taro cake, pan fried shrimp and chive dumpling, tofu pudding. The other items were decent. Service: 3/5. Could be friendly and faster but I understand that they are busy. Atmosphere: 4/5. Very lively and bustling.

Google
Great spot with thoughtful service. They provide both communal and personal chopsticks, which is a nice touch. The servers were friendly and kept changing our plates, which we appreciated. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the Dungeness Crab Combo ($80) was the best deal—flavorful and fairly priced. It came with a sauteed crab hotpot, two additional full dishes from the list, and a special dessert. We also got BBQ pork, duck, and soy sauce chicken, all cooked just right. Such a great meal!

Google
I really like the good customer service from this place, they are very attentive and food is ready in a few minutes after placing your order. There is a large variety of dishes and options I highly recommend. If you are on a gluten free diet this is not probably your best option.

Google
Best Pigeon on the West Coast – A Must-Try for Authentic Dim Sum Lovers If you’re looking for authentic Chinese dim sum and cuisine, this place is a must-visit. Their roasted pigeon is hands-down the best I’ve had on the entire West Coast of North America — juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It’s a standout dish that keeps me coming back. The dim sum here is consistently high quality, with a wide variety of traditional favorites that are both delicious and well-executed. The staff is attentive and really tries their best to follow up with any special requests or additional orders, even during busy hours. Pro tip: Make a reservation at least a day in advance. This place is extremely popular, and even if you’re willing to wait an hour as a walk-in, there’s still no guarantee you’ll get a seat. The demand speaks volumes about the quality. Whether you’re a dim sum enthusiast or just looking to explore authentic Chinese food, this restaurant is definitely worth the trip.

The Morel Fish Maw Big Snail Silky Chicken Broth was excellent, the young pigeon was delicious, Snow Crab was fresh and yummy. The Crab was tasty. 😋😋😋 Coconut milk glutinous cane sugar rice cake which aroma is delicious and moderate sweetness. Daikon, sausage & dry shrimps rice cake is yummy.😋😋😋

Yelp
Definitely a solid place for dim sum. My favorites were the siu mai and the ham sul guk. The siu mai was perfectly cooked so that the meat was still juicy and the shrimp was still tender. The ham sul guk was super savory and rich without being heavy. The glutinous rice wrapper of it was super crispy without being soaked in oil. We also got some of the other typical dishes: har gow, zong zi, cheung fun and egg tarts. I would say that these dishes were pretty standard. Overall a great lunch for sharing with friends.

Yelp
I came here during a trip to Vancouver, BC after hearing raving reviews about it from family. In fact, I came here twice during my trip--once for their dim sum service, and another time for their dinner service. The inside of their restaurant is VERY spacious and can be used for big events, such as weddings. It's bright, clean, and very nice. Everything is very clean, and service is quick. When I came here for their dim sum service, it was surprisingly not busy at all. Their menu for their dim sum service is huge and they have so much variety. We (over) ordered so many of their dim sum items and everything was very good quality, delicious, and you can tell that it was made with more care than you would normally expect from a casual dim sum restaurant. For their dinner service, I felt as if their menu was a bit smaller than what I was used to. We ordered a couple of their fried items (where the crisp to juiciness ratio was perfect), their stir-fried beef, and a seafood dish and everything was delicious. Overall, their dim sum service was one of the best I've ever had and I would definitely come back to this restaurant.

Yelp
Sun Sun Wah dim sum offers a spacious and inviting atmosphere, making it perfect for large groups. Their menu includes lots of variety of tasty dumplings and other classic dishes. Even tho we came 20 mins before opening since we have a big group there was already a line forming! Big group = more food to try! One of my favorite things that we order was the #52 egg tofu stuffed with shrimps paste!!! Order this during your visit! The service was quick, allowing us to enjoy a variety of dishes without a long wait. Prices are reasonable, allowing everyone to enjoy good food without overspending. Whether you're celebrating with friends or family, this restaurant is a great choice for a satisfying and enjoyable dim sum experience. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Great dimsum in Vancouver! The flavors of all the dishes we got were packed full of flavor and everything was cooked well. Some of my favorite things were the footballs (love the Chinese five spice in the meat), the baked bbq pork buns, and the egg tarts. The servers were helpful when you waved them down. I appreciated how often servers came back to pick up empty dishes/steamers and to make sure there was enough tea. I recommend making a reservation though, especially if you have a big party (they only have certain times for reservations but all reasonable).

Yelp
Above average dim sum spot. They do take reservations (we were able to call in and get one for a party of four on a Saturday). One recently opened in Washington but isn't at the level or consistency of the YVR area yet so we had to try here. They have a parking garage underneath, accessible in the back alley. Spots are pretty tight but there's ample room which is very convenient especially since it's all street parking around this area. Rice rolls were above average with a silkier texture than normal. Har gow (shrimp dumplings) and siu mai were pretty average. I'd say the fu pi juan (bean curd roll) was better than others, there was a fair amount of filling.

Yelp
Everything was good! Came here with some friends, one of whom recommended this place as being great. The space is very large, which made it great for our group of 8. The menu is equally sizeable and the classic dishes are great. Taking a star off for the characteristically poor service -- I wouldn't but I almost feel like people expect to see it for a Chinese restaurant. Even my Chinese speaking friend who ordered for us couldn't flag the waitress down multiple times.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday at 12PM for lunch with a group of 6. It was really busy but the restaurant is pretty big. They were able to seat us at a table meant for 10 people. Service was fast and attentive. I appreciated the servers coming by to change out our plates about halfway through! All the food came out very fast as well. All the dim sum tasted good and the quality was there. No complaints on the dishes! There is also underground parking available. I'd recommend this place if you're craving dim sum in the area.

Yelp
One of the best meals we had during our trip. My boyfriend and I came here for a late lunch on a Thursday and were able to be seated immediately. We quickly discovered that this dim sum spot is not like the usual spots with the ladies pushing around the carts that you order from. Rather, an employee will hand you a tri-fold pamphlet that has photos and names/short descriptions of items in which you mark the quantity of specific dishes you wish to order. Once you are finished, you hand it back to an employee and they will input your order into the computer. A little later, an employee pushes out a small cart of some of our items that we ordered, and they came back two more times to deliver our remaining dishes. All dishes came out fresh and hot. What we ordered: -Har Gow: Skin was not too thick. I believe the description said it had asparagus mixed into the shrimp, but it was not discernible so it did not affect the taste. Tasted like a typical har gow. -Siu Mai: Great bounce to the chew. The wrapper was also very thin here and great flavor. I liked the tiny pops of texture with the roe topping. Large size as well. -Shrimp Rice Roll: Probably the best rice roll I've ever had. Like the other items offered here, the skin was much thinner than the many spots I've had in the past, and it had a lovely chew/stretchiness that allowed it to remain intact rather than quickly falling apart in small chunks. The shrimp was cooked perfectly as well. Excellent. -Chicken Feet: The sauce was the usual black bean, savory sauce. It was good in flavor but maybe slightly lighter than other ones I've had. It also was not spicy as some spots make it, but I still enjoyed it. -Shrimp and Crab Fried Balls: I'm not sure what these were exactly called on the menu but it was basically a small crab claw with shrimp paste on the outside that has been crusted in panko and deep fried. The size of each ball was generous. The texture of the shrimp portion was good, and the crab claw had a briny taste. Each order comes with a side of bright red, sweet and sour sauce. -Salted Egg Yolk Buns: The faces on the buns were adorable, and there was a pretty generous amount of filling in each of the buns. They came out piping hot so we had to wait a little bit for them to cool down. The filling was strong in flavor but not too salty. Fluffy exterior. Heated up well the next day. -Egg Tarts: The egg tarts seemed smaller compared to some I've seen from other dim sum spots, you can easily eat the entire thing in one bite, but they were done really well. The flakiness was perfect, and there was enough egg flavor to balance out the butter notes in the pastry crust. Very good. The restaurant and parking: The restaurant is located on the corner of a few businesses. Once you walk in, there's a fountain/pond with double staircase on both the left and right side. You will walk upstairs and see the large restaurant on the left and a small hallway that leads to the bathrooms on the right. The restaurant has many tables so the host will jump back and forth between greeting/seating and answering phone calls for orders and inquiries. Service was fairly quick though we had to ask two different employees for soy sauce and chili sauce for the siu mai and har gow as none was provided on the tables. Restrooms are very clean and the sinks are really fancy. Parking is paid as with all other areas within the city. We parked along a street near the residential area, about a 1 minute walk from the restaurant. Overall: Really great dim sum. I would say the price is higher than other spots I have been to, but I'm glad the quality meets the cost. I would come back here if I'm back in town, but due to the cost, I don't think I would frequent this spot if I lived here. More for special occasions.

Yelp
Some absolutely delicious dim sum in Vancouver! We ordered way to much for what we could eat, but it was all so delicious. Service was fast and efficient, and we had all the items quickly. Our spread included the cheung fun, dumplings, lo mai gai, xo sauce radish cake, bean curd roll, and chinese broccoli in oyster sauce. I loved the bean curd roll and dumplings. Everything was so good though, it was hard to pick a favorite. The portion of the radish cake is super generous too. They recently opened one of these in Seattle, so I'll have to give it a try!

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday morning expecting it to be busy, but there was no wait! We were immediately seated and ordered like the olden days via paper and pen checklist. We got 11 dishes in total, but didn't look at the prices beforehand, so we didn't realize Chinese broccoli ($16) would cost more until it was too late. Our favorites were by far the su mai and the egg custard dessert buns. The dessert buns were sweet and creamy, and their faces were so cute! The waiters were super attentive about removing empty trays/plates and the chrysanthemum tea was delicious as well. It's definetly on the pricier side here. We're ordered 11 items across 3 people and the total came out to be $150 CAD pre-tax. That's okay though One of us is particularly disappointed in how expensive it was. He is from Vancouver and he has been to places where he usually pays $25 CAD max. His father gave us this recommendation so he'll be having a chat with him later tonight. Overall, it was good but there are a lot of other places that are just as good but for a cheaper place Washroom: Pretty nice for a Chinese restaurant! Comfortable enough to do business Tips: - Order in rounds! We ordered the dessert with everything else and so it came out way too early and we were forced to eat the buns before they cooled down. Ngl it messed with our flow - Look at the prices beforehand, vegetables cost decently more - They provide chili oil if you ask for it :) - The signature fried squid was not what we expected. It came out looking like fries, and tasted more like calamari. We thought it would be crispy and come with chili peppers - Parking lot is a bit tight so be careful of the cement columns. They get you when you least expect it

Yelp
I've been here a few times and I can only advice to be prepared for bad service. The food is good though. The fried rice is perfectly salty and it's not too oily. The sweet and sour pork is pretty good too. The fried rice is the best dish from this place. I've tried some of the dim sum too, but it's pretty standard for the price.
google avatar

Yelp
This review is for dinner. When I grew up in Hong Kong, my family would go to SSW in Shatin or North Point to have dinner. The squab was always a favorite. Fast forward to tonight...the squab was still as good as it was some 30 years ago. The price tag was not cheap, but it made me very happy. Please reserve the squab ahead of time. We also ordered winter melon seafood soup...it was heavenly. The garlic snow pea leaves, and Peking pork chops were also very very good. The pan fried noodles was really traditional. If I ever had time to visit Vancouver again, I will try the dim sum. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Service was great for a dim sum restaurant. Ambiance was good, the tables were spread apart and the seating was not cramped. You can see that they are catering to a western clientele. For that, you are really paying a premium. The dim sum is good overall but it is quite pricey. You can get similar quality for less farther east. Tea/hot water is 2.25 per person. Your regular dim sum fare is $10.50. The desserts are at least 8.50 to 9.50. They have some innovative items. I would say the deep fried tofu was our favourite as well as the sesame ball with black sesame. The egg tarts were good. The rest was fine. Not much to write home about. I am used to dim sum coming out piping hot but sadly it was not at Sun Sui Wah. I wouldn't go out of my way for this place but a good choice in the area.
google avatar

Olivia C.

Yelp
Sun Sui Wah is a constant restaurant my family comes back to for both dim sum and dinners. Some dishes on the menu can lean on the pricey side but I definitely think it's worth the quality and service you get here. We stopped by for a weekday dim sum and the tables were still quite full so I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you plan on coming by, especially if you plan on coming during peak times on weekends! P.S. There is free parking in their underground lot but the spots are very tight.

Yelp
Sun Sui Wah Main Street is our go to dim sum place. Especially for New Year's Day. Their cute little buns and corn mango pudding is absolutely delicious. All their dishes are always tasty and comes out quickly. For a group of ten we always have ample food and are attended to promptly. The line up is always long so make sure you book reservation. We're always satisfied with dim sum here.

Yelp
sun sui wah is a popular dim sum staple in vancouver and richmond, this award winning, upscale, authentic cantonese cuisine spot has real staying power. known for their handcrafted dim sum made fresh daily, they have become a local favourite go to spot for gatherings. underground parking is available for two hours--simply scan the qr code and enter your license plate number. we were a party of three and met up on a monday at 12:30 pm and were seated promptly, without any issues or reservations. the place was loud and bustling with activity. we took turns looking at the menu, and ordered the following: steamed crystal prawn dumplings ($10.50): the skin of the wrapper was a little thick, but the prawn inside was fresh and snappy. the texture was pleasant and the flavour of the prawn really stood out. steamed spareribs in black bean sauce ($10.50): the sauce was incredibly delicious, rich, and savoury, enhancing the overall taste. however, the spare ribs themselves were quite fatty, and chewy, which might not appeal to everyone. rice roll with scallop and pea tips ($12.40): this dish featured a delicate and smooth rice roll wrapped around tender pea tips. the combination was light and flavourful. pan fried shrimp, pork & chive dumplings ($10.50): these dumplings were perfectly pan-fried, offering a crispy exterior with a savoury blend of shrimp, pork, and chives inside. the flavours melded well together, making it a satisfying choice. deep fried eggplant with shrimp paste ($10.50): this was my favourite dish. the eggplant was nicely deep fried to a golden brown, remaining tender and flavourful. the shrimp paste filling added a lovely, savoury touch. baked bbq pork buns ($10.50): these buns were warm and soft on the outside, with a sweet and savoury bbq pork filling. they reminded me of a melon pan cross and mochi, with their slightly chewy, soft texture exterior. deep fried taro dumplings with dried shrimp and minced pork ($11.60): this dish isn't commonly found at many dim sum places. sun sui wah makes the flaky crust perfectly, but i found the filling to be a bit dry. the dried shrimp and minced pork combination didn't quite hit the mark for me. overall, it was a delightful dining experience with a mix of traditional and unique dim sum offerings. they had a few carts, more to bring specific orders to and a server that walked around with special featured menu items. each dish had its own highlights, and the bustling atmosphere added to the charm of the meal.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite (if not actually the favorite) dim sum places in the world. Everything is fresh made, fillings are full and not too greasy or salty, and the execution is just wonderful. The you tiao is gigantic--crispy but also has a lot of nice chew. The sesame balls are gigantic, perfectly round, and filled w a wonderful mochi center. Their special shumai and shrimp dumplings are a MUST. We don't go back to many restaurants twice, but we will be back at this one every time we are in Vancouver!

Yelp
First things first: the wait. We went early on Friday (around 10:25) and didn't wait long with the other 30 people already there. That being said, whenever I looked outside from our table, the line was out the door the entire time. Food was great and service was attentive. The menu is easy to follow and their ordering system is great with the laminated picture menus and dry erase pens. Will definitely come back and bring family.

Yelp
The egg tart was really good, 2nd favorite is the beef tendon and stripe. Lotus sticky rice is a bit thin on ingredients, pretty much only mince pork inside. Everything else is solid and good. good old fashion dim sum place. Got underground parking.

Decent dim-sum, pretty spacious, typical Chinese staff. Love their salted egg yolk buns, tasty an for the kids

Yelp
This might be my new favorite dim sum place. Just look at all the food photos I posted. Very clean and modern decor, all the food is not only delicious but I feel made with just a tiny bit extra quality and touch over regular places. Only one dish didn't turn out well - the asparagus was bitter. However after pointing out to the staff they apologized, took it away and offered to cancel from our order, which was good. Some highlights - - the Dan tart was small but really well done. - the seaweed with pea sprouts was really good. Unusual take. - fried tofu was done really well. Extra something added to breading for extra flavour. - the Lau Sa Bao (egg lava bun) had really cute faces on them and the flavour was up to par too - crispy fish with small eggs - sorry I forgot exact name - really really good. I would say it's not quite as good as Chef Tony's but it's much more accessible for me.

Yelp
We tried to get a table for lunch on Family Day and was turned away, the restaurant was so crowded. Thankfully we got reservations the next day at 11:00 and the place had plenty of room, though it did fill up by noon. Honestly, I'm not really a dim sum person; I don't care for shrimp and I try to avoid white flour/refined grains as much as possible. It seems to be that dim sum is almost entirely shrimp wrapped in white flour or white rice, so I inevitably leave feeling unsatisfied. My dining partner was very interested in going though, so we gave it a shot. We had stuffed tofu skin which was great. We had the soup dumplings xiao long bao, which were decent but not amazing. We ordered a curry fried rice noodle for the kids that was nothing special, and then on top of it the kids didn't want to eat it. hah! There were a couple of other shrimp-y little dishes we ordered that slip my mind, that were more to the taste of my dining partners than me. In retrospect we should have ordered fried tofu skin and xiao long bao and skipped the rest. The service was perfunctory and not particularly warm. The restaurant and washrooms were satisfactorily clean.

Yelp
We came in for dinner thinking they served dim sum all day. Unfortunately, they do not. However, they have a few dim sum items on their dinner menu. Chicken and Salty fish fried rice 4/5 - tasty and not greasy, but not enough salty fish Egg Plant, Tofu & Scallop Sizzling Plate 5/5. The best item of the night. The texture of everything was spot on. Lots of flavor! Chicken feet 5/5 - soft and flavorful BBQ Pork Buns 4/5 - soft and sweet subtleness outside Shrimp and Pork Xíu Mai 5/5 - they didn't skimp out on the shrimp Har Gow 5/5 - not too chewy and lots of shrimp flavor Dim Sum was really good, maybe because it was made fresh... It took the longest to come out. The end, we were surprised with cookies and black sesame dessert! Service was also top notch. Lots of tables and room to bring a big party or your family.

Yelp
Came for dinner on a Sunday. It was pretty empty so I don't think there's a need for reservations unless you want to reserve a particular dish like we did. The highlight of the night was definitely the pigeon, the melon soup and the sweet and sour pork. The pigeon was really crispy and juicy at the same time. Perfectly salted and delicious (no Pic as it was grabbed at quickly) The melon soup was so full of goods that I don't think it should be called a soup and instead it should be considered a meal. There was craband scallops inside. The soup was so sweet not in a fake sugary kind of way but a savory and seafood kind of way. Would recommend if money is of no object The sweet and sour pork was surprisingly good. Crispy on the outside. Perfect balance of sweet and salty. The meat wasn't dry but instead very crisp in a good way. Overall the food here was pretty good. Not overly salty and didn't make me drink loads of water afterwards. The service was friendly and fast. My dirty plates were switched out every time a shell landed on it. The prices are appropriate for the amount of food and quality of food. Would definitely recommend the pigeon and sweet and sour pork. The atmosphere was nice because only half the restaurant was full. People were well spaced out and lots of wait staff to help.

Yelp
This is an old mainstay and standard in the Chinese community. Sun Sui Wah has lasted a very long time because of the quality of their food. Sure it may be a tiny bit pricier than other Chinese restaurants but you would be hard pressed to find another restaurant taste as good for the price point. There is street parking outside the restaurant and somewhere in the building (I have always parked on the street but there is a sign for parking in the building if you can find it.) I come here for the food. The ambiance is also nicer than many Chinese restaurants and certainly the bathrooms cleaner. Service is prompt. There is always a server close by and yes there are multiple dish set menus for various price points depending on the size of your budget.

Yelp
Was in town for my friend's birthday and we were craving dim sum. This was the first to pop up in our search and we just went for it. This place is SO GOOD! All dim sum and other items made fresh in house to order--no carts, servers bring it out. To order you select what you want on the paper menu and someone will pick it up to send to the kitchen. Honestly, I was feeling ravenous and ate everything before taking all the pictures... each dish we had was great! My personal fave were the rice rolls with the Chinese donut in the middle and topped with sung pork. On top of the amazing food, the ambiance of the restaurant was cool. Nice and formal area that seems like it would be a great event space. We got there right at open and it got packed when we left an hour later. Despite the crowd, it wasn't too crazy or loud which is always a plus.

Yelp
We hadn't been to Sun Sui Wah for a while so my parents decided to pay a visit for Sunday dim sum there yesterday. We had the typical dishes: 1. Steamed beef balls 2. Steamed tofu wraps with pork and mushrooms 3. Steamed tripe 4. Pan fried rice rolls 5. Pan fried taro cakes 6. Fried pumpkin with salted duck egg coating 7. Chow fun with beef and scrambled eggs #1 - #4 are ok as expected. #5 was rather dry. #6 was too al dente fir what the dish would call for. #7 though ... it was just salty. We could taste the beef or the wok flavour from the chow fun. It was our go-to place for a good dim sum and dinner. I think it would be a while before we return given there are many other options.

Yelp
We came for late (1ish) dimsum. Service was slow. Slow to take our order, slow to have anyone look at you to get the bill. The food was OK. We ordered the usual dishes we get at other dimsum restaurants: baked bbq pork, rice noodle wrapped chinese donuts, deep fried shredded pork and shrimp dumpling, chicken feet, har gow, beef tendon and tripe. Every dish had a better version of it done at other dimsum restaurants. The prices (not mentioned in the menu) were at $7.95 (M), $8.95 (L), $9.95 (SP) and tea seating cost of $2.25 per adult. At least the restaurant is pretty clean. And they have large projection screen and TVs to keep the kids entertained, even if it's just showing golf.

Yelp
Food was good, service was quick and the restaurant had classic dim sum atmosphere. We came on a week day so it wasn't too busy and we were seated quickly.

Yelp
Great service, great food and good value. We usually go to the Richmond Barnch but we were fortunate to come here for dinner. They had good space and ample parking. We decided to go a la carte so we could choose the exact dishes that we wanted. It was the best meal ever. I particularly like the eggplant and tofu. The flavor blended together and was such a delight to enjoy with the chicken with salted egg fried rice.

Yelp
Food is not even hot, very bad taste. NO Services. Waitress never check on you or even u raise hands , no one notice you. And price is very expensive. Not worth it. ! Terrible!!! will never come again and will suggest my friends and families if they visit vancouver , DONT come this place. even the lady who pick up the phone for reservation is rude.

Yelp
Where to start, each dish we ordered was so incredibly good. From the flavor profiles to the textures, it all felt so fresh. I would highly recommend the clams. Service was okay but you know if it's okay, it's going to be good.

Yelp
Sun Sui Wah is OG for good reason; still excellent dim sum decade over decade. Ordered all the traditional favorites: steamed hau gow, siu mai, chicken feet, pea shoots, xlb, soy sauce rice rolls, and my absolute favorite coconut and osmanthus jelly with lychee and goji berries - not too many places do this anymore but it's so light, elegant, and refreshing!

Yelp
Haven't been to Sun Sui Wah in years but after winning a gift certificate from there and craving dim sum, my sister and I decided to go for lunch for my Birthday. As part of their special menu, we noticed a lobster lotus sticky rice dish for $35.98 and decided to give it a try along with an order of truffle mushroom dumplings, black bean steamed spare ribs, and chicken feet. We were given wet napkins and a speciality seafood fork to prep for our lobster dish, which came in handy. The lobster sticky dish is a smaller size of the big dinner sized one, which usually costs at least $150 in most Chinese seafood restaurants. The one we got was perfect for two people to share. The sticky rice was perfectly cooked - bouncy, sticky, infused with the beloved lobster cream sauce, and with chopped onion and corn niblets throughout. The lobster was a tiny one that was probably slightly under a pound in weight but there was a decent amount of meat given the price point. All in all, I would definitely order this dish again. The truffle mushroom dumplings were also great - mushrooms were not mushy and there was just enough truffle taste without it being overwhelming. Spareribs were steamed perfectly with big chunks of meat. This is usually one of my staple dim sum dishes to order and Sun Sui Wah did not disappoint. Chicken feet were also solid - good texture, great flavours, and a good size. Including tea ($2 per person), the lunch worked out to be around $86 including tip. While pricey for a dim sum lunch for two, we did leave with leftovers and we both enjoyed the meal. Would definitely go again, especially for the lotus leaf lobster sticky rice dish.

Yelp
The 2 of us came here for dim sum lunch on a weekday and it was still busy. We ordered a couple of our all time favourites - steamed shrimp dumpling with asparagus (something different and tastier than plain old shrimp haw gao) & bean curd wrap with port & enoki mushroom. We also had the sticky rice with dried scallop and shrimp plus spinach dumpling with pork. For dessert we had the coconut jello with wolfberry fruit. All dishes were delish. The problem was there was only 2 of us. Tip: must bring at least 4 people so you can try more dim sum dishes! The prices were reasonable considering it was good quality. If you don't mind paying for good quality and tasty food, this is the place. For 5 dishes, it came to less than $50. Tip: make reservations way ahead of time especially on weekends. There's complimentary parking downstairs or out front. There's an elevator near the parkade that will take you directly up to the restaurant for those with mobility challenges. I'll be back with more hungry friends.

Yelp
Came for dimsum on Sunday around noon with 3 others. I called a couple days earlier to make a reservation, so we were seated immediately when we arrived. I saw on IG that they have a giant deep fried sesame bun that you can pre-order, but sadly when I called I was told that they currently aren't offering this. Too bad, since it looked really cool. Sun Sui Wah has their own parking underground, but I completely missed the signs and parked on a residential street one block away. We tried a variety of dishes (12 total) and most things were decent but not amazing. My favorites were the fried taro dumpling (wu gok) and the pan fried fish pancake with green onion, which is a dimsum item unique to Sun Sui Wah. I didn't like the beef meatballs, as they were much smaller than usual and on the bland side, and the steamed chicken feet, which were also bland and not as puffy as they should be. The steamed pork rib pieces were good in flavor but had more bone and fat than meat. The mango pudding comes in the shape of corn and was a fun dish for the gram. We also tried the tofu pudding and it was pretty fresh, though the ginger sauce was a little bit too ginger-y for my taste. At the end of the meal, they also gave us some complimentary dessert in the form of fried dough topped with shredded coconut. I've never had this before anywhere but it was pretty good; unfortunately we were all way too full to eat much of it... Here's some of what we ordered, with prices: $7.25: beef meatballs, ham sui gok, tofu pudding $8.25: ha gow, pork shrimp shu mai, steamed spare ribs, chicken feet, eggplant with shrimp, wu gok $9.25: shrimp cheung fan, fried fish pancake

Yelp
We love Sun Sui Wah for dim sum! They are consistent and the food always slaps. We're afraid to try any other place so we always come here when we're in BC Canada. We go to both locations depending on where we are in the city (Vancouver and Richmond). Both are good. Just make sure you don't come at 245p bc they'll turn you away (in Richmond they did). It's not a push cart dim sum and everything comes from the kitchen. I'm okay with that. Must get items: -crystal shrimp dumplings (hargow) -shu mai -beef and shrimp rice noodle rolls -stuffed bean curd -chrysanthemum tea -salted egg yolk buns -egg tarts Do not get the spicy pork and shrimp wontons. They are not good and the sauce is too vinegary. Stick to DTF iykyk same with the hot and sour soup. DTF makes it the best. I wish they had baked BBQ pork buns bc those are my kids favorites. It's okay bc we can get those in Seattle where we are. Overall, I'd recommend SSW to all da homies who ask for dim sum recs :)

Yelp
After all these years, still good! If you're looking for yummy dimsum at a good price in Vancouver, SSW is where it's at. Second floor on Main street with plenty of free underground parking or metered parking out front, you will find a classic Chinese dimsum restaurant that has been a staple of this community for decades. Although the building is obviously a little dated now, the food is consistently good and affordable. When restaurants in this city come and go, it's nice to know tasty dimsum can always be found here.

Yelp
Sun Sui Wah has two locations in Metro Vancouver. This location and the Richmond one have been around for a long time. Dinner and banquet are very popular. Dim sum at lunch was one of the favourite spots of many. I went for dim sum in a party of four - perfect number as this is usually the number of pieces in each dim sum dish! With some expectations as I heard good comments on their dim sum, I have to say that it was not as good as I thought it would be. The dim sum and the fry beef rice noodle were ordinary, and nothing really stood out. They were OK for their flavour. The best were Ha Gao and Siu Mai. The mango pudding surprised me by its shape in the corn on the cob. The flavour was not bad. It came with condensed milk on the side. The fried squid was a little disappointing as they were not tentacles, not even one piece of tentacle. We had the following: - Rice roll fry with soy sauce - Fried squid - Shrimp dumplings (Ha gao) - Pork dumplings (Siu mai) - Stir fry rice noodles with beef and soy sauce - Steamed rice roll with shrimps - BBQ pork pastry - Mango pudding (in the shape of corn on the cob) At the entrance they would admit you and check your vaccine card with the scanner and match with your photo ID. On top of that, they will ask you to check temperature on a scanning device on the wall which you put your hand against it. Plenty of hand sanitizer was at the entrance. It was a weekday, and they took reservation. It's nice that they have free underground parking.

Yelp
Great service, food and dining experience. Order/Reserve your king crab in advance. Everything is good.

Yelp
I am a regular consumer at Sun Sui Wah and the tea fee is $2. The overall experience is more for the ambiance than the food. The space is spacious, with an open concept, bright, and has big windows. It feels like there are a lot of employees, but at the same time, not enough employees for the number of tables present. There are definitely more tables for big groups (5+) than small groups (2-4). The crowd is usually diverse and multicultural, and there is usually a line on the weekends. There is a free underground parking lot, but be mindful that the parking spots are small, and the route down is very narrow. The elevator wait can be long - once it took 5 minutes to come after we called it. There is both pay and free street parking available around the restaurant. FOOD In terms of the food, the portion sizes are generally smaller, and prices are more expensive compared to other dimsum places, as well as past visits to Sun Sui Wah. Here are the ratings for some of the dishes we tried: Glutinous Rice $15.75 - Rating 7.5/10 - It's salty, but has a very aromatic wok smell and taste. BBQ Duck Spaghetti Soup $13.95 - Rating 7.5/10 - The duck is salty, and the veggies are not fresh, but old and hard to chew. Prawn Dumpling with Asparagus (HarGow) $9.95 - Rating 7.5/10 - It's very small, but we enjoyed the touch of asparagus in the prawn dumpling. Chicken Feet Black Bean Sauce $8.95 - Rating 6/10 - They no longer serve the whole chicken feet, only the claws, which is a bummer! It feels like you're getting less for your buck, and the whole chicken feet taste so much better than just the claws. Beef Balls $7.95 - Rating 6.5/10 - They forgot to serve our dish, and we had to ask for it. By the time they brought it out to us, it was cold, and the balls were very small. Beef Tendons & Tripe $8.95 - Rating 7/10 - There were not a lot of tendons but lots of tripe, which is unfortunate because tendons complete the dish. Overall, it was very soft and had a good flavor. Shrimp and Chive Dumpling $8.95 - Rating 5/10 - Once again, the portion was very small, and the dumplings were small. The bottom was obviously fried too much and was dark. Unfortunately, the dumpling did not hold its shape and was falling apart as we picked it up. Deep Fried Eggplant with Shrimp $8.95 - Rating 7/10 - It was okay, but there was some inconsistency with the sauce. Last time, there was a lot of sauce, but today, there was little to no sauce. Baked BBQ Pork Bun $9.95 - Rating 8/10 - It was good, and the ratio of bun vs pork was good.

Yelp
Came by mid week in the COVID summer of 2021 for dim sum. First off, I love the room with the high ceilings and large windows with so much natural light. The tables were adequate distanced from one another that our party of 3 felt comfortable dining there during COVID. The service was quite good and the items we ordered came out relatively quick. I loved all the items were ordered and I liked they way they used quinoa in the sticky rice. The exception would be the deep fried spicy squid. It was bland and not great presentation. It was a positive food experience and happy to recommend Sun Sui Wah for dim sum.

Yelp
This was a recommendation from a waitress from another restaurant. We felt the food here was average. On the night we came it was not busy at all but service was just ok. On the plus side we did get green bean soup as a dessert on the house. Not sure if I would come back as there are so many other options in this city.

Yelp
Heard a lot of good things about this dimsum place, but for me and my family it was okay. Nothing special imo, the dimsum is better in toronto. The service is so slow, because the place is big, the server didn't notice us and it tooks a while to give us menu, and we have to wait to order as well. It is really disappointing as I expect more and I saw this spot in Instagram as well and have a lot of reviews. The ambiance is good tho. Overall, it is a decent dimsum spot. But I won't be back when I visit Vancouver.

Yelp
Went there for the Moon Festival special. Only restaurant we called that had space for 6 at 5 pm. When we arrived, to my surprise, the restaurant was nearly empty, only maybe 20% full. Maybe the price too expensive or too early for most big spenders? The waiter said it will be full later. But when we left at around 6:30 pm, the restaurant was still 70% empty! The food is ok and rather expensive. Maybe that's why.

Yelp
Had the king crab 4 ways ( steamed with garlic, deep fried with fries, fried rice, noodles). Also ordered duck and some veggies and shrimp dish. It was enough for 8 people. Everything was tasty

Yelp
One of my favorite dim sum places in Vancouver. The prices are average to on the high end, but the quality is as good as you can get in any major city with lots of Asians. The restaurant can get pretty busy during peak hours at opening and around noon. There is also free parking underground, and if you do, walk up to the restaurant using the stairs, the elevator is horribly slow and seems to stop at every floor. As for the food, it was pretty good. I've been coming here for years now and the quality has not changed. We got your usual dim sum fare, like the dumplings, steam rice rolls, congee, and of course the egg tarts. I suggest order several of the mini egg tarts, they are so good, you might not want to share!
