"A creative Latin American vegan stall within the Bowery Market had its last day on Sunday, March 30; owner Christian Torres is looking to open his own restaurant space in the summer." - Nadia Chaudhury
"A highly regarded vegan spot at 348 Bowery (at Great Jones Street in Noho), it will close with its last day on Sunday, March 30. Owner Christian Torres said in an Instagram announcement that he is looking to open his own restaurant space somewhere in the early summer. The operation, whose tagline is “pretty decent vegan food,” serves Latin American vegan dishes that change often, such as chickpea cakes and the Crispy Chick’n sandwich (which made the New York Times’ list of the best 100 sandwiches); Torres started the concept as a food stand at Smorgasburg." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Sunday C&C is located in the Bowery Market, a permanent home for this concept first launched at Smorgasburg. Owner Christian Torres is a one-man operation serving up Latin American vegan food with a rotating menu. A current menu lists chickpea cakes with kimchi jam, arroz pegado (scorched rice) with maitake, and crispy mushrooms with garlic rice — but the menu regularly changes. The market is technically open-air, but it’s heated during the winter, and there are several tables for dine-in." - Eater Staff
"At The Bowery Market, there’s a roughly eight-by-five-foot outdoor stall serving some of the city’s most stylish vegan food. Miami transplant Sunday C&C does a shiitake-stuffed papa relleno dressed up in kataifi, a fried chicken sandwich accessorized with huacatay gribiche, and rotating daily specials like mushroom gumbo and baby potatoes blanketed in Alabama white sauce. Swing by for a quick lunch, grab a stool by the register, and chat with the chef/owner while he dunks some lion’s mane mushrooms in the deep fryer." - neha talreja, bryan kim, kenny yang, willa moore
"Big things, small packages. Sunday C&C Eatery started as a food truck in Miami before popping up at Smorgasburg, eventually finding a permanent home in a snug little kiosk at the outdoor The Bowery Market. It’s a shack, essentially, but this shack produces some very good plant-based food. Grab one of the stools arranged in front of the register, and eat a sprawling plate of fried lion’s mane mushrooms served escabeche-style with a vinegar-soaked pile of leeks, bokchoy, and bell pepper. Other options include crispy yuca bites served over a pool of mojo verde, a papa rellena with crispy kataifi, and rotating specials like a chicken parm sandwich dripping with cashew mozz and parsley bechamel. Keep this place in mind for a quick, vegan lunch, and don’t skip dessert. photo credit: Bryan Kim photo credit: Bryan Kim photo credit: Bryan Kim Pause Unmute" - Bryan Kim
