Best Rooftop Patios in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"It’s a great spot to brunch and a nice place to sit with a cocktail and watch life on Greenville Avenue pass by. The happy hour is nice and long, going from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, and offering a $12 lunch special during the week. It’s not super high off the ground, but it goes up high enough to offer a glimpse of the Downtown skyline. It’s also not the fanciest, but it is among the most affordable in the city." - Amy McCarthy

A great place to pick up a live music show. We were able to enjoy dinner on the patio and then a wonderful live concert at the venue. Very affordable for the prices free valet made the night even easier with what could’ve been very difficult parking. Really a great place. Family friendly and were able to take our kids and enjoy dinner as well.

This isn’t my first time to enjoy Sundown but it was my first; solo. I had an incredible lunch on their patio!! Michael was my server & he crushed it!! He was working alone but you never felt unattended to. I got the Mediterranean Plate. Those falafel are DELIGHTFUL!! I also enjoyed the hummus. It wasn’t too smooth & had great flavor! The patio is a fantastic post to post up, enjoy the weather & watch the street.

The food was delicious. They were super friendly. I had the chicken and waffles. Everything was good. The only thing was that the scrambled eggs were a bit salty but other than that, I would recommend this place to eat.

This is a convenient place to grab a bite before a concert at the Granada. The food was okay. The burger was decent but not remarkable. The grilled cheese had promise but not much flavor, only the jam stood out in the flavor profile of the sandwich. The bread, however was nicely done. We sat outside and that was nice and the wait staff was okay. We did not get drink refills without asking.

On March 22, 2025, Saturday, my wife and I for the first time we ate here. I ordered the Waffle Fries with Brisket and melted Cheese. Boy it was delicious. My wife ordered the Grilled Cheese Sandwich with a variety of cheeses. It was very good too. The associates and the service was great. It's a nice cozy place I recommend it.

Google
The food is alright, but a bit overpriced ($14 for three tiny brisket tacos that should be an appetizer instead of an entree). The service was good. Three stars for it being WAY too dark, even in the middle of the day.

We had an amazing time at the bar on April 27th, around 4-5 PM. The bartender was fantastic! She was super attentive and friendly. We only had drinks, but we were bummed that we had just had a late lunch after seeing how incredible the menu looked. But the drinks were amazing! We’ll definitely be back when we’re in town to check out the food. Five stars and a big thank you to the bartender!

DEAR MANAGER: This is NOT entirely a 5 star review. Visited 3/22/25 @ 5:45 I come here often, and I have never had such AWFUL SERVICE. We ordered 2 top shelf drinks. They were VERY light on alcohol....So I mentioned it to our awful server.. SERVER: "I promise you there is alcohol in there" ( we weren't trying to get more free alchohol.. she clearly doesn't know the neighborhood).. SERVER: "I can make it a double" ME: "if you have to". SERVER: "should I take it".. ME: I'll take another The second one tasted like the first, and that was supposed to be a DOUBLE...AND my friends DOUBLE was missing an ingredient.. ME: Why is mine pink and his is clear? SERVER: "it's missing the red sweet stuff" ..AND THEN she walked away...(she should have offered to have it corrected) I went inside with the drink and the bartender gave me a bottle Ruby Red Grapefruit Soda .. to add to it. 4 top shelf drinks were terrible...(they should have re-made the drink) I didn't finish either of them... Neither did my friend. $58 for 2 double and $27 for 2 singles..that's what was on the bill. This was the ONLY time the service was absolutely AWFUL. The food was AMAZING. You guys can do better.

Yelp
I returned to Sundown for the first time in several years, and had a fantastic visit. My buddy and I came for Friday lunch, and were pleased on all fronts: - nice and cool inside, shielding us from prematurely hot weather outside - $4 draft beers (all of them), best deal in town that I know of - excellent burger, packed with beef, brisket, and bacon, the holy Trinity of B food - fun and responsive service, entertaining and informative I will return soon, as this neighborhood spot has earned a spot in my regular rotation,

Yelp
My gf and I were looking for a place to visit for brunch. Since it was after 3, we figured we wouldn't have a lot of options. While searching for nearby places, we saw that brunch here didn't end until 4. So we decided to give it try. We made reservations even though I don't think they were needed as the place steady but not extremely busy. Upon arrival, the hostess was nice and asked if we wanted outside or in. Since it was such a beautiful day, we opted to sit outside on the patio. The patio is spacious with wooden high tops. There's also fans which is nice and tv just in case anyone wants to catch a game or two. And great for people watching as well. Once sat, our waiter came over after a few minutes. He was extremely nice and personable! We decided on mimosas of course; a carafe with orange and cranberry juice. The sparkling wine was actually very good alone which was a pleasant surprise. We also started with chips and white queso which was tasty. After a few mimosas we were ready to eat. We ordered the Sundown Burger and the Fried Chicken & Biscuits. The burger and waffle fries were flavorful and cooked well. The Fried Chicken was good but the biscuit a bit on the dry side. Overall, it's a solid spot that we'd definitely visit again!

Yelp
Went here with a friend for the Texas vs OU game. I opened a tab but only bought 3 drinks total, closed my tab but neither bartender asked me to sign. The next day I had a $116 charge on my card and so I called and spoke to the manager. She listed out what i "bought" listing multiple drinks and food which I didn't have. My last name isn't common and I didn't know anyone else so I don't know how that happened. They refused to fix it so wouldn't recommend a place like this unless you're ok literally throwing away money. The drinks were also the smallest pours I've ever seen in Dallas.

Yelp
Date night last night we decided to give Sundown a try. We were hoping for seating on the rooftop however we weren't allowed to go up. Perhaps there was a private event. We opted for patio seating since it was such a nice night. To start we decided to share the Kale salad which consists of Arugula. Kale, radicchio, apples, goat cheese. Chili pecans, pickled red onion, craisons, and topped with pomegranate balsamic vinegar. The salad was light and refreshing and a perfect size to share. We also ordered the Mac n cheese and for an entree the braised short ribs|Demi glaze|garlic whipped potatoes and brocolini. The short ribs were amazing so tender and flavorful, I can't wait to go back and order this again. To end the night on a sweet note we decided on the peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream.

Yelp
I went here on a really really cool day after walking in the Martin Luther King Jr. day parade with my sorority sisters, and I want to say that this is my second time at this establishment, but this time the food was so good I had some sort of egg on hollandaise and bread, and it was so good! The service was really good, and our waiter was attentive and the vibes inside it was pretty calm, and we were able to talk to each other and hear each other. No loud music here!
google avatar

Yelp
Love the food. Love the room and patio. Great music and service. We had a great time.

Yelp
Great location if you are going to a concert at the Granada. The trio with chips is great app. I had the ahi salad and it was great!! Service was very good and we got our food quickly.

Yelp
AMAZING SERVICE!!!! I was having a bad day and SHELBY was genuinely asking me about my day and made me feel welcomed. The food was good but i couldnt have met another person like my server Shelby, she gave me great suggestions and always had a positive vibe. 10/10 HARD WORKING PEOPLE

Yelp
Honestly I was slightly let down by this place after all the hype I've been hearing from local Dallas folks. It is a good spot in Lower Greenville, with some great HH and Brunch deals, but this is one of those places where I feel like you get what you paid for. The food was mediocre to me. I got the crab cake Benedict and my friend got the sundown Benedict (with brisket) and although the food was decent, it wasn't as great as I was expecting. The potatoes were hard and just blah, the benedicts were lukewarm and small compared to other places. Overall just wasn't impressed, but maybe it was my high expectations going in after the hype that people had given me for it. Now one thing they definitely had on point were the drinks, the mimosa carafe was basically a bottle with juices for you to fix as you like. We also tried the espresso and all spice old fashion, which were both pretty solid. Glad I came through to try it out, but not sure I need to rush back!

Yelp
The best part about Sundown at Granada is its location! If you are planning to go to an event at The Granada, then stop by Sundown for dinner before your show. It's just a short 2 minute walk out the door and to the venue. Sundown has free valet parking, but be prepared to tip the drivers. There are multiple entrances making entering and exiting a breeze. There are also multiple seating areas including indoor seating, patio seating, and rooftop seating. We chose to sit on the rooftop, which was really nice because it gave us a good view of our surroundings. They also had a cute photo op at the top of the restaurant! The service was okay. A little slow and not the most friendly, but there was only one server working the entire rooftop and she was staying busy! Surprisingly, they had quite a lot of healthy options on their menu. I ordered the kale harvest salad and added grilled chicken. The salad was great! Fresh ingredients with a good flavor. Just the right amount of goat cheese so that it was not overpowering. I loved the pomegranate vinaigrette dressing. I also really enjoyed my cucumber martini. It was very tasty and refreshing. The presentation was a little lacking though. Overall, this was a good experience, and I would definitely go back to Sundown at Granada.

Yelp
Great brunch experience! Sundown is a great go-to spot for a chill yet lively vibe. Even though the weather has been hot, the covered patio was nice and bearable with fans and misters. The food was really good. You can't beat $2 mimosas and $12 carafes for brunch!
google avatar

Yelp
I came here for Sunday brunch with my friend. No line! Our waitress was super sweet/personal & attentive. We ordered a mimosa carafe, chips & queso, and I ordered the Mediterranean plate. The mimosa was delicious and was more than enough for 2 people. The queso was delicious but the salsa was bland and watery. The Mediterranean plate was okay; falafel wasn't flavorful. The hummus and tzatziki sauce was bland. I don't think I'll be ordering this again, definitely don't think it's worth $15.

Yelp
Attended the Jonathan Tyler concert at Sundown at Granada last evening. We made reservations for dinner before the show and were all happy with the service and food. The Manitoba Burger was hard to beat. Beef, brisket, bacon. Very tasty. Our waitress was great and the venue was perfect for the show. Sound was great and it was nice to see a show in a smaller venue. We will be back. Thanks Sundown.

Yelp
We went for a 60th birthday party on the top level of the restaurant. It was raining and they had the plastic tarps down until the birthday boy showed up and BOOM it stoped raining the temperature dropped and a cool breeze started up and the tarps were lifted that made for a perfect evening. They had an open bar, appetizers set out that were delicious and plentiful. If your looking for a party place for an occasion, go check the place out. The staff was great and attentive.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp, and it didn't disappoint. The only thing that was a little disappointing was that the parking behind the building was valet only. Fortunately, there is parking close by that is free. As soon as we got there, we were greeted and seated. Our waitress Dani was amazing! She was attentive, patient, and answered all of our questions about the menu since it was our first time there. I was not super hungry, so I got the potatoes as a side and the tuna tacos, which is an appetizer as my entree. The tacos were amazing. They were flavorful, light, and just the perfect bite. The potatoes were good but not necessarily anything to call out. My husband got the breakfast plate and enjoyed it, but the bacon stole the show. He liked how it was cooked and the thickness. He and our friend shared a mimosa carafe of the blood orange mimosa, I had a sip and it was very tasty. The drink I got was the allspice old fashioned, it was so good, you could taste all the spices, vanilla, cinnamon, and orange. I would have gotten another if I wasn't driving. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Vegan friendly! We come here every once in a while. My experience here is usually 5 star. This latest time was a little different. They actually location is perfect, in the hot spot of Dallas, but the inside was a little warn looking than usual. Our server did not seem happy to be there was was very short with us. The portion too price ratio has changed significantly- the portions were extremely small compared to the past and prices have increased. Personally my burger fell apart instantly. We usually like coming here and don't want to stop, but may wait to come back for a while.
google avatar

Alicia D.

Yelp
Still the finest lower, Greenville Ave. dining and patio in Dallas. Varied menu that accommodates even the finicky palates. Top shelf service, even if you are not drinking top shelf. Thank you, Sundown for never letting us down!
google avatar

Terrance G.

Yelp
Came here with a friend for brunch on a Sunday. We got to sit outside which was perfect due to them having some fans to help cool you off. We got the bottle of mimosa with oj and pineapple juice, they also offer cranberry. I ordered the brisket Benedict which was delicious. The brisket paired well with the Benedict seasonings used. Our waitress was on point as well and ensured we were well taken care of and offered great recommendations, the all spice old fashioned being one of them . It wasn't very loud and the location is great for dates, grabbing a few drinks etc. definitely recommend giving this spot a try
google avatar

Yelp
It's really nice to have a yummy food option right next to the theater, good way to fuel up before a fun night out. The chicken sandwich is to die for, definitely give it a shot. A little overpriced for what you get, but the convenience helps make up for it for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
Great patio! Salad was delicious. Great server great food happy hour watermelon margarita was tasty as well !!
google avatar

Trammell K.

Yelp
I was really excited about the chance to experience a meal here. Well, service was slow.....drinks not what I'm used to but tasty. I ordered the brisket waffle fries for a starter. It was not what I expected nor wanted. I would have preferred that days brisket but seems it was leftover as in yesterday. It was dry and you could barely see the cheese then they threw an undesirable amount of flavorless jalapeños atop. Had to ask for more cheese which by then all else was cold. It was removed from the tab. On to the best part which was the burger! It was amazing! Could have been a bit larger but definitely packed flavor. They sat us by the front door when there was plenty of space in other areas and it was cold and drafty! I won't be back.
google avatar

Franki H.

Yelp
Decent spot for brunch, lots of space for large groups. I ordered the Sundown Benedict -- unfortunately the hash was cold. The eggs were perfectly poached. The table took advantage of their reasonably priced mimosa carafes.
google avatar

Callie J.

Yelp
Been here a few times and haven't really had anything I don't like. I wouldn't say there's anything SUPER special about this place but it's a good local spot with good food. Worth checking out if you're just looking for somewhere easy, chill to go. Definitely recommend during happy hour! The grilled chicken sandwich was bigger than expected, and really good. Definitely enough to have leftovers. My friend said the truffle Mac wasn't real exciting, but that didn't stop us from finishing it. I actually liked it. The quinoa salad bowl is good. The patio is nice, mostly covered with plenty of misters and fans. Like I said, this place is good for something easy.
google avatar

Anna C.

Yelp
Such good food and very accommodating. I appreciate the number of gluten free and vegetarian options on the menu. I bet the restaurant looks cool at night with live music. I will be back.
google avatar

Violet R.

Yelp
Enjoyed a vegan and gluten free burger here recently that was pretty good! Great flavor :)

Julie P.

Yelp
Robert is amazing at what he does, knows so much about the menu and just drinks in general. Very helpful and super pleasant! We love a Robert! Please go in for brunch (or any time) and try the skillet brisket hash & eggs or the Brussels salad with blue cheese. Vibes are immaculate.
google avatar

Sarah-Grace H.

Yelp
Went for brunch yesterday, really good fluffy eggs! Gluten free options and the GF bread was top notch! It's not often you can find a comfortable bar atmosphere that are allergy accessible. Only downside is valet parking only, which if parking is an issue I get it but validate for those dining at your establishment and raise rate on those just parking on your lot ‍ just my two cents.
google avatar

Mariana L.

Yelp
It's a great place to meet friends for an after work drink. They have some nice dishes and live music. On Friday they had a Dj at sunset. Overall the service was great.
google avatar

Alexei R.

Yelp
Came to eat here this past Sunday for brunch. Great prices on mimosas. We got a carafe for $9 dollars. It yields about 6 mimosas. For app we got the tuna tacos. Very delicious. Add the lime wedge that they come with. You get three tacos. They were awesome. I had the wake up tacos. Very good except the BBQ sauce is sweet. Next time I will get them with the BBQ sauce on the side. I added jalapeños for some heat and they were delicious. The breakfast potatoes were crispy and cooked well. We also had the crab cake Benny. The crab cake itself was actually so delicious. It was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Overall that dish won the dish of the day. Izzy (our waitress) was great! She was attentive, very friendly, and took good care of us. Thanks Izzy. We will be back to try out their other dishes!
google avatar

Bob E.

Yelp
I don't mind paying $12 for a shot of Patron. But I've never heard of an extra $2 if you want it on the rocks.
google avatar

Elijah L.

Yelp
Very happy with the quality of food and service at this price in Dallas. Our party wishes there would have been a DJ or entertainment on the rooftop; however, the $9 carafes of Mimosas made up for the difference (after two bottles, of course). Food was expected, not extravagant but tasty for what we ordered. The queso and salsa...MUST GET! Def recommend this for a budget-friendly brunch!

Eva C.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to get brunch when the weather is nice in Dallas! Love sitting on their patio having a mimosa and some good food. The loaded cheese fries, crab cake Benedict, and ahi tuna tacos are some of my favorite things to get here. But the ahi tuna tacos here are one of my all time favorite things to eat. Everyone that I've told to try them has loved them. They are so light and refreshing. I have never had a bad experience here!
google avatar

Jhulianna V.

Yelp
You cannot beat sundown at granada brunch. The portions are great, and the cheap carafes are a steal if you are down for boozy brunch. I have gotten the skilet hash and eggs which was yummy and filling. Last time i got the kale harvest salad which was really good and the portion large enough to share with my friend with a side of waffle fries. It is usually packed so I do recommend a reservation. But the staff is nice and has good service. I love their themed nights and happy hours, such as movie nights. ! Overall a really cute casual place to get together with friends. I love the indoor outdoor area, although I think the inside is too dark so usually choose to sit outside.

Yelp
Still haven't heard anything from the owners regarding this review from 1 month ago! So disappointed!
google avatar

Bruce W.

Yelp
I have been meaning to review this restaurant from our last and only visit to this establishment on 9/03/2023, 4 people for dinner. This facility itself looks very nice and the layout and location is also nice. The waitress was also very helpful but could not get much right on our order and overcharged us by approx 20%. The food was at best a 2.5. (Or less). Finally, the price we paid for this meal was what we would pay at a very exclusive restaurant with excellent food. Sadly Sundown at Granada has neither excellent food or service. But friendly!
google avatar

Kenya R.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch yesterday right at opening. I got the Mediterranean platter and the herb cauliflower. The best thing was the cauliflower, and it wasn't all that. What made it taste good was the feta tahini mixture you dip it in. The falafel was old, not tasty. My husband got the ahi tuna tacos and truffle Mac. He said the tacos were good, and the Mac was ok. He did enjoy the Whiskey Smash. We won't return. Our waitress was nice. It also had a strange smell in there.
google avatar

Mike R.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and music. Food is good too and service is excellent. Fun happy hour patio. So convenient to the Granada Theater making them a great 1-2 punch for a fun night out.
google avatar

Charity C.

Yelp
How am I just finding out about this place? Such a gem! This is a great unwind/girls night location. We sat on the patio, our server was fantastic, the food was cheap and hella good and they had great deals for happy hour, it was a win!! Do yourself a favor and order the Hammered Goat Flatbread with chicken and the Truffle Mac N' Cheese. Both were really good, but especially the Truffle Mac, I'm convinced there's crack in it. Lol
google avatar

Josiah C.

Yelp
Great venue and a fantastic bar! The bartender Cameron gave me the royal treatment. Even gave my mother a complimentary round when the busser accidentally took her glass before she was finished. Clad act that Cameron. Willl be back!
google avatar

Syeda H.

Yelp
Came here on a weeknight and tried out the Herb Roasted Cauliflower, the Crispy Brussels, Buddha Burger, Braised Short Rib, and Italian Flatbread. My favorites dish was the Herb Roasted Cauliflower! The mix of the tahini with the chimichurri sauce was great! A great combination of creamy balanced with fresh herbs. The cauliflower was well made and did well to hold the sauce. The Crispy Brussels was also a good dish. I enjoyed the char on the brussels with the goats cheese and balsamic glaze. The butternut squash would've been a better addition if they were grilled or roasted longer. Buddha Burger was not good. The patty was dry and im flavorful and the buns looked like they were from a fast food joint. Braised Short Ribs- I had high expectations based on the great reviews. When the dish came out, I was disappointed to see broccoli instead of broccolini as is advertised. Still I decided to try the dish and did not enjoy any aspect of it. The short rib was dry, the "garlic" potatoes had no garlic flavor, and the broccoli seemed boiled. All parts also lacked seasoning. The service was good and they did replace the Short Rib with the Italian Flatbread upon request. The flatbread was well made and a good classic. Overall some dishes are good, but some mains aren't worth coming for.

Yelp
This was my 2nd time visiting Sundown! This time I was solo and I just wanted good mimosas and something to snack on. It was packed on Saturday but room at the bar. I sat at the bar & was greeted by two awesome bartenders. Can't remember their name but one was a guy w/ a cool jean jacket & another young lady with a huge welcoming smile! I order a carafe for the amazing price of $11.. it comes with one carafe of champagne & your choice of juice on the side. I then had aha tuna tacos & sweet potato fries. Both was very yummy! Glad the bartender talked me into the tuna tacos! I def will be back.. great service, amazing mimosa special & the food was amazing!!
google avatar

Yelp
Great venue! Drinks are great and the staff is cool as hell. Convenient to restaurants and bars for after the show!
google avatar

Natalie S.

Yelp
Great spot to grab a bite to eat before a show or for patio brunch on the weekend. It can get busy so keep it in mind but a nice, casual atmosphere that makes you feel immersed in the lower Greenville vibe. I loved the sweet potato gnocchi!
google avatar

Melissa V.

Yelp
It was such a wonderful experience! My friends and I went to Church at the Granada Theater next door. We decided to come here. I'm so glad we did. My fries were tasty, the atmosphere was great and the staff was really pleasant. Let me give you the specifics. The patio is super cute and rather large. The patio has misting fans and everyone that walks by, seems to enjoy. It's a very popular atmosphere! I felt really good vibes here. I normally don't. I had a feeling, I was going to run into a famous celebrity but, I was wrong. There was just a Woody Allen look alike that dined near by. Lol. The crowd is a mixture of late 20's and mid forties. All seem to be having a pleasant experience, while having intimate conversations. We had the sweetest red headed waitress. She was slim and rocked a cute nose ring. I ordered the Gluten Free Waffle Fries! They were delicious, warm, lightly salted and small portioned. Who knew they tasted this good? Well, I can't wait to come back here! I heard they have good specials and brunch on the roof. You will definitely what to bookmark this restaurant. The ambiance is nice, the staff is great and the gluten free options are nice.
google avatar

Kiara D.

Yelp
Came here for a cute little Saturday brunch. The outdoor deck has mist which is a huge plus for the Texas summers and the carafe's are well worth the money! The Loaded fries are a must try and enough to share for the table!
google avatar

Summer S.

Yelp
Food and drinks are great. The crab cake Benedict is delicious. The mimosas are great. Service is terrible. Their not attentive and never bring water unless you flag them down to ask. Yes the servers you have to catch and wait for them. Once that mimosa or food is on the table their gone. Don't come back unless you ask. I've been here two weeks in a row and it seems as if it's the culture to have bad service. If you come here expect good food and mediocre service.
google avatar

Laurence C.

Yelp
Mike and Julie have made this a great place to grab a bite to eat, and a drink. The live music is always a bonus. They have some great up-and-coming bands.
google avatar

Eddie N.

Yelp
Overall, I was a bit disappointed and here are the reasons, and I want to provide constructive criticism: 1. Customer service. First, the host did not ask us where we wanted to sit as there were both options inside and outside. Simply just ask the guests where they would like to sit. Second, the waitress asked courteous questions about food but did not do follow up and left pretty quickly after an answer, not even asking about dessert. Just linger for about three seconds. Third, I brought up the issue of the kale in the salad (see below), and I would have liked that she ask, "Was it not what you were hoping for? Is there something that you want in its place? We want you feeling happy." Two stars. 2. Drinks. I got the Watermelon Rita, which was very good. Nice blend of sweetness and tequila with a touch of tajin. So five stars for cocktails. 3. Food. When asked about the lack of kale, it was explained the kale salad used a blend, which did not even taste nor had the texture of kale. Additionally the The apple used was bland and bruised. One star. I would say that this place is good for drinks, and not much else. Unless there are some positive changes in response to above, I won't be returning.

Yelp
One of my favorite places for brunch! The rooftop vibes are great as well as the outside patio with misters. The mimosa carafe is pretty good deal for $12. The service is pretty quick just make a reservation ahead of time if you have a bigger party. Food is really good as well, with a few different veggie options.
