"This Asian diasporic restaurant from chef Kyo Koo is a love-letter to “vintage Asian food” and Koo’s personal childhood nostalgia. On its happy hour menu, available from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., find small plates like tteokbokki, or Korean rice cake, for $6, fried shumai for $11, and loaded bulgogi fries for $13. Draft beer is $1 off, while the Cocktail of the Day — “Bartender’s mood,” reads the description — is $7." - Dianne de Guzman

This place is gross. Ordered from seamless, process was not seamless had to wait longer than quoted, kind of awkward standing area for to go orders, in an out dated lot right off the freeway which was really contested to get to during rush hour. Food: got a vegetable spring roll for $3.25- a single very small spring role for $3.25! Totally overpriced and they should clarify on the menu that it is just a single spring roll! The pan fried noodles were extremely soggy with a bunch of filler vegetables that are t very healthy. The orange chicken was kind of cold and soggy texture. A lot of sauce. Like too much, not enough chicken and not a good ratio. Pot stickers okay and dipping sauce for those was pretty good. Appreciated that they mostly used more biodegradable packaging- only one co gainer was styrofoam and they didn’t use a plastic bag- thank you! Probably won’t return but I honestly don’t know of a better Chinese restaurant in Columbus!

We had Flounder, the whole fish fried and dipped in a sauce. Sauce itself consists with a thick curry with pork in it. Love that sauce, but it would have been less sugary and more spicy. Flounder is well fried and crunchy. Lot of bones but they are well fried so can be easily consumed. Happy with the taste!!!

We originally came to this area to have Greek food but followed our noses right into this restaurant. I was skeptical to pay for a sit down Chinese restaurant because we typically do takeout only. I'm glad we chose to come here because the Triple Crown and the Sizzling Rice Soup hit the spot. I always order General Tsos or Beef with Broccoli when I go to a Chinese restaurant but I told my husband to pick anything and the Triple Crown was different and exciting. We had more authentic options I don't usually see at other restaurants. The atmosphere was great and I will be coming back to try more dishes!

My son (lol, no, not every meal is with hu. y!) and I craved Chinese and found this near our location. Great lunch combo specials and menu options. Sorry no pix of the food, tummies too rumbley! The waitstaff was very prompt and courteous. He had the sesame chicken meal and I had the combo with the hot and sour soup. The soup was so good with a good amount of heat. I also ordered a spring roll. I will let you know it did have meat in it, shrimp and chicken, not sure what else. My main p course was Buddhist Delight. It was really good with the delicate yummy sauce. Also want to add the Lotus root was a wonderful touch!!

This restaurant has been around for 30+ years. They must be doing something right. They sure do. Serving authentic Cantonese cuisine including dim sum. We truly enjoyed our dinner which consisted of both American- Chinese dishes and authentic Chinese dishes. Enjoy!

Google
Definitely stop here! These Fine people have been in this location. For many many years. The man up front said he had been there for 30 some years. My waitress. Miss May. Was very very nice and accommodating. Was very pleasant professional helpful and well spoken. With a very heavy Mandarin accent of course. Which only adds to the authenticity of the restaurant for me. She has been here for 17 years. I asked for some suggestions on what to have from some other patrons. That had been coming here for several years themselves. They told me. What I absolutely! Love to hear someone say. Everything! Is good here. They both said. So I went for the traditional. Yes! You guessed it. General Tso's. Pork fried rice hot and spicy soup with an egg roll. Dr Pepper to drink. Miss may. My waitress. Brought me some Wasabi sauce that she makes special. Along with some other pineapple tasting sauce that is made in house also. Delicious! Will definitely. Definitely! Be returning soon. Really love the decor. The tables are very elegant and classy.. the pictures do not do this place Justice. Bathrooms were very nice and clean. But the people definitely were amazing. You will not regret stopping here for sure. I will say a prayer for each and everyone of you. I hope your travel is safe. God bless you and yours. Thanks for helping me make it to the top 10% of Google reviewers. And thank you for now making me one of the top 10% of Chinese restaurant reviewers.

Google
First time ever eating here. We ordered take out. The pictures are my food, my fried rice, hot and sour soup, and Moo Goo. I ordered moo goo with no snow peapod, No water chestnuts and added extra cabbage and extra bean sprouts. I did it all online and it was ready for pick up within 15 mins. I drove 45 mins back home and it was still Hott! I love spicy food and I learned they offer their hot oil they make their selves for sale I should’ve bought it I’d add it to my moo goo. The food is delicious best I’ve had besides Bamboo House in Circleville and they closed years ago. Will be my go to even if I’m 45 s away😁

Google
Great place. They have awesome ambience. When you walk in there's a giant fish tank with a huge fish that's very fun to watch. They also have a large banquet area that can host up around 50 people maybe a little more. Apparently this is one of the few places that has dim sum as well. Haven't had the dim sum but would love to come back and try it sometime.

Yelp
This has been my families favorite restaurant my whole life. I am heart broken to hear they have closed they had the kindest workers and the best food ever!!! You will be missed so much!!

Yelp
Sunflower has such warm and homey vibes whenever I go. They offer dim sum all throughout the day so you can get it whenever you're craving! We got a few dim sum dishes as well as Chinese home style dishes as well. As for the dim sum dishes, the scallop dumplings were my favorite because of how chewy the skin was. Although the shrimp dumplings were good, they were on the soggier side. The chive dumplings were also super packed with pork and chives, and they were wonderfully crispy. The spicy pork dish was very good, with lots of thin sliced pork, squash, mushrooms, scallions, and onions. If you're into spicy food, definitely enjoy it with their pickled jalapeños and red pepper oil. Chinese stir fried veggies make it so easy to get your fiber in as well. These veggies were super flavorful with lots of garlic and they were tender too! We finished the meal with some fortune cookies and the best part of the meal was how friendly and sweet our servers were. The workers were elderly men and women and they were so nice. They made sure we had everything we needed and even gave us candy as we left. It reminded me of how much I loved seeing generations of families getting dim sum together on the weekends. Definitely will be back for more the next time my dim sum craving hits!

Yelp
My son and I hit up this spot for the first time in a long time and it was as good as I recalled. We ordered a variety of dim sum and it was all great. We got there a bit late so they were running low on some things but gave us solid substitutes. No lobster dumpling? Here's some delicious scallop dumplings! No juicy pork bun? Have some quail egg dumplings! Service was prompt and friendly.

Yelp
We had this delivered... I'll tell you this IS THE BEST food for delivery. Tasted fabulous and was delicious. MY favorite place now.

Jon A.

Yelp
Not sure why they only have 3 stars. This was our first visit. Wanted to try Dim Sum. All research says this is the best Columbus has to offer. They did not disappoint. We started with egg drop soup that was amazing. Not boxed stock for the base. The Dim Sum was fresh and flavorful. Followed by Szechuan chicken with crisp veggies. Service was attentive throughout our visit. Only one other table occupied on a Friday night. Well worth the visit.

Yelp
This is one of the few restaurants that offers congee on their menu in Columbus. The chicken feet were sweet and salty with the sauce sinked into the soft meat. The combination congee had various ingredients in it (pork, squid, etc). On the other hand, the congee with thousand egg and pork tastes plainer as compared to the other porridge. The bbq pork cheung fun was okay. Personally, I would have preferred the shrimp cheung fun instead. The service was good and the server was polite. The food was also served pretty quickly which was great.

Yelp
Had a dim sum hunger so I stopped by Sunflower for a take out. Ordered off of a sheet and waited 30 minutes for my order. I've heard all of the rumors about their dim sum being frozen but I'll tell you I really couldn't tell (and I would challenge those aunties who say it). All I care is taste and my order was just fine for the most part. Shu mai, steamed ribs in black bean, deep fried footballs, chicken feet (maybe a little more flavor), and har gow were just fine. Wish the bbq pork cheng fun had a bit more pork. The steamed rice in lotus leaf was ok but I'm not a big fan of the filling (of course every restaurant who serves this is different inside) but I liked the sticky rice. Certainly not as pricey as the dim sum place in Dublin. If I crave again, I'd go back again to sit down or take out.

Yelp
I placed an order for delivery: one egg roll, one phad thai price 29.00 I was Charged for THREE orders! I called to dispute and was told to contact Door Dash. They refused to cancel two of the orders . I was Charged 90.00 !

Yelp
Columbus doesn't have many Chinese restaurants that serve dim sum, so we are glad to have discovered Sunflower Chinese Restaurant. Even though it's outside of the city, it was worth the drive! They don't currently have push carts, but they have Chinese/English Dim Sum Menu with accompanying photos. Our dim sum spread consisted of Baby Clams (with Black Bean Sauce), 2 orders of BBQ Pork Pastry, 2 orders of Beancurd Roll, Beef Chow Fun, 2 orders of Beef Meatballs, 2 orders of Cha Shui Bun (Steamed), Chicken Feet, Chinese Sausage and Chicken Hot Pot Rice, Chive Dumpling, Deep Fried Dumpling, 2 orders of Egg Tarts, Har Kow, Shiu Mai, Shrimp Cheung Fun, Sauteed Choy Sum with Garlic, Steamed Ribs, Turnip Cake, Water Chestnut Cake. Among the things we ordered, my favorites were Baby Clams, BBQ Pork Pastry, Beef Chow Fun, Beef Meatballs, Chicken Feet, Egg Tarts, and Water Chestnut Cake. Next time, we will have to try other dim sum items, including Beef Cheung Fun, Fried Taro, Juicy Pork Dumplings, Shrimp Stuffed Trio, Sticky Rice Bowl, and Sticky Rice Dumplings.

Yelp
This place is not long for this earth. It's gone downhill for the past 6 months fast. Cashew chicken was questionable. I know when chicken has been stored improperly when I see it. My son didn't even want to finish his general tso, and that is unheard of in my house. Lastly, the salt/pepper shrimp was soggy and not really cooked well either. I'm wondering if they will be open in the next few months. Did their cooks all quit on them. It was awful.

Lina L.

Yelp
was excited to try some dim sum at this place! all in all, the dim sum was pretty good. i believe they make all of their dim sum fresh, so they were steaming hot when they came. my favorites were the lotus buns and egg tarts. they were SO GOOD. however, the other food was a little bland. we ordered kung pao chicken and spicy fried tofu, and they lacked flavor in my opinion and were not spicy at all. they did come super quick though, while the dim sum took a bit longer. so you win some you lose some i guess? the service was pretty good. i don't have much to say about the ambiance, because we came at a time that wasn't super busy. i can imagine it being chaotic when it's busier though lol. overall, i'd recommend getting the dim sum because it was really good, especially for the price. however, it will probably take a bit.

Yelp
My husband and I used to go here when we lived close. Went there again for our anniversary dinner. It was very yummy. Nice portions, too.

Yelp
I have been a takeout customer of Sunflower for many years. However post-pandemic their entrees have gone significantly downhill. Not long ago I ordered just the spring rolls and a container of hot & sour soup. I spoke with the person I'd given my order to and explained why I'd only ordered appetizers and soup stating the entrees had been undercooked, were gummy-tasting and not at all appetizing. Some months passed and I once again risked trying an entree. I got the usual 2 spring rolls, hot & sour soup and chicken with snow peas as my entree. As an afterthought, I added shimp toast to my order. The total came to a little over $28. I was really hungry and decided to eat the shrimp toast while I drove home. Upon opening I found it sitting in half an inch of undrained oil. Each piece continued drip a half-teaspoon of oil, necessitating I pull over, park and mop up the excess to the best of my ability. Any shrimp that was on the toast was completely overwhelmed by the tremendous amount of excess oil which had a strong fishy taste. The fryer oil clearly needed to be changed. The bread also soaked up all the seafood items that been previously deep-fried. On to the entree (which looked perfectly awful) On the positive side, they'd used plenty of snow peas which I love. However it was the chicken that killed the dish. The chicken was grossly undercooked and was lily-white in color. It looked like the chicken had been scraped off the bone with a fork and then heavily tenderized with a meat mallet, resembling chuck steak. There was no color to the sauce and it looked like nasal mucus. The overall taste wasn't good at all. Even the rice was a mix of overcooked (sticky and gummy) and undercooked (hard and clumpy). I refrigerated the spring rolls and soup as I was beginning to experience cramping and diarrhea. Felt like food poisoning (from the shrimp toast). All in all - the worst spent $28 EVER! I will never patronize this restaurant again.

Yelp
They have dim sum (There aren't many in this area) and that kept them busy this past Sunday morning... The bad: 1) Dirty glasses 2) server yelled at another customer (not us) for asking for water. Screamed, "can't you see we are busy! Not just in here but people waiting outside." The guy only asked for water... 3) the cashier was rude to me for trying to use Apple Pay and kept pushing my phone away as I was trying to do my Face ID. I ended up paying with a credit card. D The good: 1) did I mention it's got dim sum and I guess you have to put up with it 2) the food was hot and came out fresh 3) their system was efficient for getting food out but not if you want to order more. They did seem to struggle with all their sheets. 4) they had tofu fa but it wasn't as good as last time we were here. Bland. Overall, it was fine. We will come back for the food. I'm big on service. A mediocre meal can be made great by service or a great food can really leave a "sour taste" on the way out.

Jeff L.

Yelp
I think this place is pretty good. I used to live in southern China and have had some pretty authentic Dim Sum. This place is not quite at that level but all the dishes I had for Dim Sum on a Sunday were pretty much what I was expecting. Particularly, I would recommend the Beef Chow Fun, the Beancurd Roll, and the Har Low and Shiu Mai. Also try the soy sauce with jalapeños inside if you like some kick to your food (Cantonese food is not spicy). They also have a Chinese Sausage and Chicken Hot Pot dish which takes 45 minutes, is served in a clay pot, and is really something rare that you typically only find in Hong Kong or a city with a major Chinese population like Vancouver or SF. This restaurant definitely gets bonus points for having that on the menu. If you are craving Dim Sum, check this out on a weekend day!

Sandy W.

Yelp
Hubby and I met a friend here for lunch. My friend and I shared four-delicious dim sum's. Fried turnips, sticky rice filled with pork and shrimp, something that was stuffed in a banana leaf and one other dish. Each one was full of flavor and delicious! Hubby had chicken and broccoli with brown rice and hot and sour soup. He enjoyed his meal and actually had leftovers to eat later! Looking forward to going back soon.

Slaphappy P.

Yelp
I don't get the 4 rating. From the reviews, I think it may be from people not liking the "lack of spice." It's Cantonese. Look it up. I've reviewed this fine establishment before, but thought I'd update and add, as I am still so happy with the experience I have there with friends. I don't think I mentioned, but the place is very beautiful. It's easy, it seems, for a Chinese restaurant to sink into tacky stuff as an afterthought on bare walls. Here it is well done. It is just nice. Not new, not stylish for today. Just nice. And warm RED. The food is still outstanding. Part of the reason may be the elderly couple that owns it is still on the floor, pushing in chairs, making sure everything is perfect.....despite being bent over and barely able to walk. Dedication. Given the huge crowd coming in from the line, the scant staff really busts ass. Be kind to them! They do a great job of keeping people happy. I wanted to list the dishes I can't go without when there: -Shimp stuffed 3 ways (art. art I say!) -Fried Turnip cake. -Sticky rice (it's in a lotus leaf. 7 treasures! Order much extra to take home! ) --Fried dumplings -Taro fried dumplings (cinnamon goodness!) -Tofu skin rolls -The shrimp rolled in the wide rice noodles. forget the name. But really...for the dim sum, have had none bad. Get there early. -

Jeremy Q.

Yelp
Great dim sum! My go-to order: - shu mai - cha shui bun - chive dumpling - sticky rice dumpling - egg tart - egg custard bun Make sure to use the chili oil and soy jalapeño sauces!

Hannah B.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Saturday. They had a decent crowd. Service was pretty fast and they had a nice lunch menu to choose from that came with a soup or egg roll and a main entree. I had the eggplant dish and my mom had the Wor su Gai. I had the hot and sour soup, which was fine, but not my favorite I've had. The eggplant and chicken dishes were pretty good.

Lucin Y.

Yelp
This place is a core memory for my childhood. My family and I have gone to this restaurant for years! Their Munster green chicken soup and water crest soup is delightful. The salted crispy shrimp is one of my favorites, along with the hunan chicken or black peppered steak. My dad always gets the fried fish and has been his favorite from over the decades. Their lobster was really good too. No matter how many times I come here, it never disappoints!

Florence G.

Yelp
ONLY CANTO AND DIM SUM PLACE IN COLUMBUS APPROVE BY ME, A CANTONESE CHINESE. GO HERE. PLEASE. ITS SO GOOD. pre-covid review- indoors, weekend, early morning so not really anyone. so this place is definitely AUTHENTIC. the chowfun and dimsum, the cantonese speaking waiters, it's as authentic as one can get my DUDES. LIKE WHERE ARE YOU GONNA GET TRIPE AND HAGOW? IN THE MIDDLE OF OHIO? as a canto chinese, this flavor just tastes right. it's as dim sum and yum cha as you can get. i love this place and wished i could have supported it more. so please. if you want that chinese high tea experience, go here and eat your heart out. HECK IF YOU JUST WANT CHINESE FOOD. COME HERE. it looks like they do dinner so it also probably a vibe. i know it.

Josh H.

Yelp
This is our go to Chinese for both eat in and take out. It's authentic and very tasty. The menu is extensive and we have only scraped the surface but enjoy the egg rolls, Kung pao, chicken when cashew nuts, lo mein, herbal tso , and Mongolian beef. We do more take out than eat in and it's always ready quickly and very hot. Recommend!

Gracie C.

Yelp
Best Chinese food!! Service is great and the atmosphere is traditional Chinese. Amazing prices and the food is always delicious!

Melina V.

Yelp
Lady gave mean look, mom did not like lol Other asians got cool dim sum menu and chopsticks we did not Food blah

Becky N.

Yelp
Great War su gai. I can't find it in South Carolina and had a hankering for it. It was just like I remembered.

Greg M.

Yelp
Big fan of dim sum. However, while it was still good, it was amongst the worst dim sum that I've ever had. Service very quick. The dim sum that we ordered came out super fast and clearly had been sitting around for a while. Ordered General Tso next. Started at three stars. TSO dropped it to a two. Remind me never to return.

Spirit L.

Yelp
I've heard many people recommend this place since I moved here 8 months ago and it did not disappoint. Fresh and high quality

Ya Y.

Yelp
They serve both dim sum and regular meals. I came here on Sunday for the dim sum, and honestly I was disappointed. The experience was so-so and overall the food tasted quite plain. However, I did enjoy the "Chinese Sausage Hot Pot Rice". It is made to order and takes about 45 minutes. The rice texture was good, and was soaked in mushroom and sausage flavors.

Marina C.

Yelp
Amazing way to try many things during dim sum hours. First time we didn't know what we doing, second time was way better so I think third time we will be dim sum prose! Great food to experience.

Stephanie Z.

Yelp
The lo mein with beef is sensational. The noodles are thick and perfectly cooked. The beef is high quality and the vegetables are perfectly cooked.

JW W.

Yelp
One of our favorite Chinese food restaurants in Columbus. The triple crown dish is very flavorful. Price is reasonable for the quality of food you get. We have come here multiple times.

Orion O.

Yelp
Sunday dim sum - waited 2 hours and only received half of our order. Eight dishes never came. Had to ask for water twice. Disappointing service to say the least.

Kin C.

Yelp
If you have never been here before you can try it. The dim sum is good. Service is good. The price may be reasonable but the size of the dim sum may be smaller compared with similarly priced items in other dim sum restaurant. The dining hall are comfortable.

Anvaya N.

Yelp
Sunflower is off of sawmill road right in the stripmall by Pizzahut! The place has been here for decades and is mainly own for their dumplings. They have an extensive list of dumplings and they do the cart style dumpling dining on weekend! You so have to try the variety of options from that menu. I also truly enjoy their fried rice it's extremely cheap yet delicious. It's my go to cheap Chinese place for weekday dinners. It's family owned and the grandparents greet you when you enter. They also will recommend dishes if you do not know what you would like. The restaurant is huge and ambience is like an old Chinese buffet place. They do have several authentic Taiwanese dishes on the menu that definitely set them apart.

Edward Y.

Yelp
Food was fine given Covid restrictions. The problem came when we paid the bill and we noticed a mistake in charging of congee (which we never received). We had 25 plates (party of six adults and three kids and our total came to $180. They ended up refunding us about $1 and some change for the congee, but the issue was because they were very hesitant to show any kind of itemized bill after we noticed the billing mistake. We then found out that they are charging a service fee on top of the bill and not disclosing that fact, and we ended up tipping them 20% too. I don't mind paying fair rates for food and service and tipping wait staff appropriately. But I am really opposed to businesses practicing shady sales practices and not disclosing to the customer that service fees are already included in the final bill. Demand a full itemization of the bill before paying anything and not just the summary total or else you may get fleeced by non disclosure.

Logan P.

Yelp
Their food was trash. You are better off eating at Panda Express and Panda Express will be half the price. Don't go there

Laura K.

Yelp
The food is terrific! I've been picking up food for 20+ years and my orders were always correct, fresh and delicious. I highly recommend Sunflower.

Roumel G.

Yelp
We just ate lunch to celebrate my moms bday. Our reservation was at 12 noon. We were the only ones there. The food were all unbelievably excellent. The soup arrived so quick. Perfect celebration over all. Loved the attention from all the staffs. Mom enjoyed her birthday celebration.Surely will come back again. Glad that they are open finally.

Cool J.

Yelp
Great Chinese food here. Very authentic! Also has a great dim sum selection. I would recommend this restaurant to other picky Asians lol.

Linda R.

Yelp
First time here for dim sum. The food was excellent and service was great. As were prices! I would definitely come back here again!!

Woolie T.

Yelp
I'm shocked to see that Sunflower Chinese Restaurant only has a 3 star rating on Yelp -- we recently stopped by on a Saturday around 12:30p to pick up a takeout order and was met with an older man thanking us profusely for thinking of ordering from them during this pandemic. No doubt, the food probably would've been nicer if we were able to eat it there but it still hit the spot when we reheated it slightly at home. Would definitely come back when another craving hits!

Phillip F.

Yelp
Wonderful food. Authentic, flavorful, great service. I recommend the dim sum. Do yourself a favor and stop by.

Charles B.

Yelp
Very bland General Tso's chicken. Very disappointed with meal. This place used to be much better.

Vanessa R.

Yelp
I had been going to this restaurant for many years. I always satisfied with the food. Name a view Black Pepper Scallops, Spicy Crispy Ribs, Stuffed Fried Tofu are always my to go to choices. Danny Chung the owner always taking care of his customers well. Keep up the good work.

Sherry C.

Yelp
This place used to be one of my favorite Chinese places. My mom and I stopped for dinner one night. We were the only people in the restaurant and the service was slow. But we understood, as there did seem to be a big carryout business going on. Our food came and was very good and we were pleased. There wine selection was very small so we ordered a cocktail instead. Two other customers did dine in as well while we were there. Worth checking out if your in area.

Susan C.

Yelp
We ordered from here last night and the food was inedible. General Tso chicken was like rubber, no flavor, Orange chicken same awful consistency. One meal was ok---so $80 for 1 meh meal! Too many other places to consider. We wont be ordering from here again.

Norma O.

Yelp
Haven't been here in years but pretty much the same. They were not very busy as far as people in the restaurant but was really busy with take outs. The food was good and large potions. I had enough left over to bring home for another meal

Ebenezer's Anni L.

Yelp
I was worried about finding a place for dim sum in Columbus as good as Asia City since EBS said that it was one of the best out side of California. Got here later in the time they serve dim sum from carts. Wonderful service to help me get dishes on my list that ladies of Asia City helped me create. While I couldn't get steamed chive dumplings or the shrimp spring rolls, I had the rest. ( Risking my shell fish allergy of course, but good dim sum is worth it.) Except the fried chive dumplings, everything else was just like I was use to having in taste and quality. Asia City has them hands down on those dumplings. But when you can't get the best, average will have to do. This is much smaller than Asia City, so the cart selection is also smaller. Did hear that they do have chicken feet but if EBS would not eat them, I am not about to try. Keeping legacy alive.

Tori C.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place so bad, and I rarely leave bad reviews - but I need to warn the public. This was the worst food I've ever had. Both my "tofu" and my boyfriend's general pso were inedible. The tofu was not fried. It was so soft I almost think it wasn't cooked. It was breaking off my fork it was so mushy and watery. My boyfriend's general pso was a light brown, not a dark sauce like we expected. We were both extremely hungry and we had to throw everything away. The staff were fine - it was simply the disgusting food
