With a fusion of Japanese baking techniques and local Taiwanese flavors, Sunmerry has become a household name in the city. As a family-owned company, Sunmerry values growth measured by the quality of its products and customer satisfaction, rather than by store count or sales figures. The bakery takes pride in its baking expertise and innovation in creating new products that cater to local tastes, qualities it aims to bring to the US market. Specializing in fresh Asian pastries and desserts, Sunmerry offers a diverse range of over 80 bread and cake varieties. Some popular items include the Green Tea Croissant, Taro Milk Cake, BBQ Pork Chashu Bolo Buns, and freshly baked 6" and 8" birthday cakes. Their drink menu features Salted Cream Tea, Fresh Lemon Green Tea, Grapefruit Green Tea, Oreo Milk Tea, Brown Sugar Milk, Dalgona Coffee, Thai Milk Tea, and Cold Brew Coffee. Boba, Pudding or Lychee Jelly can be added to any drink for an extra treat.

This is my first time trying their breads, I’ve heard a lot of good things about them. The store looks bright and clean, and the displayed breads look so yummy. I chose a Hokkaido Cream Puff and an egg bread. Both of them are delicious, the cream puff is full of cream. I asked the staff, they only use whipped cream for this puff, which is a healthier option. I’ll probably go back to try other products.

We came in early morning and the savory breads are already cold. The taste was fine, nothing exemptionally good. The cake selection however is something I would comeback and try, maybe that will redeem this place for me. The place has no inside seating, outside seating is available that shares with other business in the area. Outside seating during winter though without any heater is not so enticing. So we order, left and ate at home. We also ordered seems like a cronut with filling, a bit heavy for me but it taste good. Hokkaido cream is good.

Fairly new Sunmerry location - the first in San Diego. They have a great mix of sweet and savory items, including larger cakes, and also drinks. When we went it was very crowded since it was a Saturday and they're pretty new, but the staff were really efficient and friendly so it wasn't chaotic at all. Everything we picked up was good, and I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with any of it. Their cake designs are also really fun and I'm looking forward to getting one for my next birthday! There is a restroom available and some outside seating.

Poor customer service, 2nd time now. Avoid Server named Anthony. We came here for the BOGO drink promotion over the weekend. We asked for no ice and paid, but drinks came out with ice and the staff named Anthony said promotion requires at least 30% Ice? This is a totally a LIE, or at least no where in the promotion terms state this, and why didn't our server tell us this before we paid? I am guessing he/they didn’t want to remake our drink due to high volume, and this is just unacceptable.

Google
Delicious bakery that is a step above the place across the street. Beautiful cakes. Nice tea. The walnut cookie was ginormous and fun. Vanilla cake (cookie like) was not too sweet. But the upside down cream puff was outstanding. Caramelized sugar on top. Perfect.

The bakery is on the smaller side but they have a nice collection of yummy baked goods. Their prices are just right. Will definitely come back.

Weekdays: no lines. Weekends: long lines. Cake can be pre-ordered for pick up at a specific date. Our favorite: BBQ pork bolo They also have milk tea and smoothie with toppings. Get on the frequent customer program and get discount for the next purchase.

Google
They have many Taiwanese classics like green onion, pork floss, bolo with sweet milk fillings, custard pudding bun, taro, azuki bean and coconut braids to choose from. There is this brioche-donut thing which looks like malassada. There are also a few contemporary options with Asian flavors like black sesame, mochi, ube and taro. Many of their sweet pastries are very sweet. If you prefer something not-too-sweet, I recommend going for savory options or something more plain like the shokupan seasalt roll. I love how they carry black ball’s grass jelly and some Seasole (芝初) black sesame item.

Yelp
Good bakery. They offer a lot of sweet baked goods and desserts, so if you are into those types of baked goods, this place is for you. I, on the other hand, not so sweet. As a result, I picked up some wheat toast and coffee walnut concha. The wheat bread was a lot better than I thought. It was quite wholesome and tasted great. I used it for sandwiches, avocado toast, and grilled cheese. I would definitely make this purchase again when I visit. The coffee walnut concha was very good, too, and quite the treat. I loved the smattering of crushed walnuts, and the coffee flavor the concha offered was really good, especially the cream. Good stuff. The service was subdued but friendly. They offer a lot of good parking.

Yelp
The bread is a cross between 85c and Paris bakery. It's good, but the customer service sucks. I came across a smart mouth cashier. The place is small. I ordered boba tea. My first time there so I asked where to pick up the drinks. Cashier rolled his eyes and said "like any coffee shop" and pointed to his right. Bad attitude. I wanted to slap him. I spent $25 there and had to hear his rude comment. Why? Because I'm a little brown on the outside? Was I not welcomed? Um...there's plenty of boba shops and bakeries I can waste my money at. 1 star because the bread and drinks were good. Minus 4 stars for hiring a racist jerk.

Yelp
This location is smaller compared to their other one. I think they had a good array of pastries. I went in once with my cousin and they had lots of options for savory and sweet. And an hour later, we came in with my mom and a few shelves were empty of the pastries! They were loading it up again as we were looking through what was left. We ate and enjoyed the: - Dirty Bun - Coconut Raisin Twist - 2 Pork Sung Bun I also ordered the Nutella Bowl Bun, I think it's called. The Nutella was very minimal and a little burnt. While it looked big and light... it was actually empty..?? And dense and dry. The base of the bun stuck to the paper too. I wouldn't recommend this. Next time, I hope to try one of their savory breads or cake. The prices were really good!

Yelp
A few updates: They are now charging for bags if you buy less than 6. If you buy more, then they will pack it in a plastic or paper bag free of charge. I never have to worry about this because I always leave with the tray full. They also have a punch card for their drinks (1 free for every 10 drinks) plus still have their loyalty number (linked with your card) which gives cash credit. Right now from June 1-16, 2024, they have a BOGO 50% off on their new mango series (mango green tea, mango milk tea, mango matcha, mango grapefruit with salted cream). It is only on these drinks and you cannot change the sweetness level on these drinks. Their brioche donuts are still the best and the new biscotti flavor is amazing. They usually have them still around 2pm on weekdays. But weekends they sell out quite fast.

Yelp
Sorry to report, it's not as good as I had hoped. Firstly, the boba drinks were a definite NO. Tapioca pearls are supposed to be soft and chewy, these were too firm to even chew. Had to spit out most of it before giving up and tossing. The tea itself was nothing special, tasted powdery. Purchased several pastry items to review (see photo), nothing is worth returning for. They're good enough to eat if you're in the neighborhood but for the price and quality, I suggest driving elsewhere if you have time. I'm not the only one who thinks this. Shared several items with family members, one of whom lives in Taiwan, and we all agree that it was a let down. The place seems clean and organized, service was prompt, but pastries looked better than they tasted. As for cake slices, which someone had suggested I come here for, none were available on this day. Only whole cakes were available, and they're pricey. I'd rather spend a bit more and get it elsewhere. Not as well decorated as other bakeries.

Yelp
I finally had a chance to try this bakery and came back the next day with my mom to try it again because it was so good! It was pretty empty around mid-morning and we were able to browse their selections before making our choices without having to wait in line. I also tried their dalgona coffee and vietnamese iced coffee (not pictured) and they were both tasty and strong. The workers were very friendly and the drinks came out quickly. I was most surprised that 4 pastries and a coffee only cost $12 with tip. I'll be coming back to try their other baked goods soon!

Kysa T.

Yelp
I've been to this location a handful of times now. The line is usually out the door but it moves at a good pace as the place is a little small inside. I've tried a variety of their baked goods and my favorites are the bbq bolo, shredded pork and green onion bread. The green onion bread is so good, I wish I could bring home a tray full! I've also bought a full strawberry cake for a party once and it was received pretty well. It wasn't too sweet, which is a plus for a lot of older generation Asians. Great texture and tasted great overall. It also comes packed with a cake cutter, candles and a match. I've ordered a couple drinks there as well. I normally go for Thai teas and the one here is pretty good. The taste was more on the tea side but very flavorful. The wait for drinks wasn't too bad either. There's definitely a lot more to try, so I'll definitely be coming back again.

Yelp
I heard of this newly opened bakery from instagram. Its located across mall of 85degree. This bakery is similar to 85 - varieties of bakeries, drinks - good price - nice services - big free parking spaces - outside open tables and chairs - small store - restaurants (kbbq, hotpot, dim sum) nearby. I tried milk tea and black sesame milk tea. It was okay but boba was good. I recommend to try hokaido cream cake!

Yelp
I'm a fan of any business competing against 85 degrees (who's located right across the street). I've never been to a Sunmerry so was curious to try them. I've visited twice now. The location is small (next to Mo Mo Paradise and Bafang). They seem to have plenty of staff and usually there are two cashiers to move the line along. They had some fun soft opening specials (10% off and a free mini cake). My last visit we tried: Nutella Cookie Bun $2.75: - great price for a large bun. There wasn't as much nutella inside the bun as our first visit. The bun was wonderfully soft. Chocolate concha $2.75 - smaller bun and not much chocolate. Dirty Bun $2.55 - this was the size and shape of a chocolate covered croissant. This bun was more dense and not as airy as the others Walnut Cookie $3.5 - this was surprisingly my favorite item of the bunch. Not sure why it's called a cookie as it's a bun. The chunky pieces of walnuts on top tasted so fresh and yummy. The inside of the bun was ridiculously soft, bouncy, and delicious Garlic Parsley $2.00 - nice price for the large 'breadstick' but nothing special The prices for quite a few items are pretty competitive. I'd come here to pick up a box of random items to make an affordable gift box for friends. I'd recommend stopping by to see what this place is all about and trying out their menu.

Yelp
Very good pastries and cakes very similar to 85 degrees. Everything tastes good Plenty of parking. A little small bit is but to grab and go.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for Asian bakeries and I'm sooo excited to have Sunmerry in San Diego ! Stopped by their grand opening weekend and waited in line for about 40 minutes to purchase all the baked goods and some milk teas-- let me tell ya about it ! Grand opening weekend for any new shop is always a little chaotic . This bakery is located in the parking lot shared with Michael's, Sprouts, and BevMo . I saw a lot of cars circling the lot, but we got lucky right as we pulled in-- a car backed out right in front of us ! When we arrived, there were about 10 groups ahead of us . It's set up like 85 degree bakery where you grab a tray, tongs, and grab the baked goods a la carte . Only thing was for us, there were no trays left; so we held all of our baked goods in our hands . They finally restocked the trays about 20 minutes later... without even asking if we wanted one as she saw us struggling to hold our pasteries-- i actually dropped one of my pasteries because it slipped lol . But, at least the cashier was nice . I got a $5 off coupon for spending over $25.. HOOORAY ! Here's what we got-- BRIOCHE BUN was freshly put out so it was still warm . It was fluffy and I loved the outter crisp exterior . Semi sweet and delicious ! 10/10 CHICKEN CHEDDAR BUN was like an Asian style chicken bake . This bread was well seasoned on the outside and sooo chewy . There were chunks of chicken on the inside . I would recommend eating this one warmed up. 7.5/10 BBQ PORK BOLO was my absolute fav . I took a bite in the car and decided to not judge it fully untill I warmed it up in the Airfryer at home -- and wow ! The char sui pork on the inside was sweet and savory, but nothing extraordinary. The bread itself tho-- was extraordinary . Baked perfect, pillowy, and the outside has this crisp baked sugar that gave it a nice crunchy texture . Sooo good ! 10/10 TARO MOCHI BREAD was surprising . When I took a bite initially, I felt like there was nothing too special . Once I ate it again later that day I realized it was sooo much chewier than the other buns ! The bun was light and reminded me of a beignet, but chewier and filled with taro . The taro filling was semi sweet and savory . Another one I really enjoyed. 10/10 SESAME BRIOCHE was sooo tasty . At first I didn't taste the sesame, but the second bite was lit . The exterior was crisp, flakey, and looks like a spiral croissant-- It was almost like a hybrid; it was more on the donut side with a spiral crisp . The inside was doughy and filled with the black sesame custard . The black sesame custard flavor was light, the nuttiness comes in faintly . Delicious, but I wish the sesame was stronger . 8.99/10 APPLE BRIOCHE was really good too, but on the sweeter side . It has chunks of apple, cinnamon-ey, and remind me of an apple pie . I would share this one if you're not too fond of anything intensely sweet . 7/10 The RED BEAN BUN was beautiful . Great baked bun and the red bean filling was soo delicious and not overly sweet ! 8/10 OREO MILK TEA w/ added boba is a treat . Salty, sweet, and heavenly . Boba was cooked perfectly-- Bouncy, chewy, and fun to eat ! 7.5/10 BLACK SESAME MILK TEA w/ added pudding . Sooo scrumptious ! I loved the nuttiness and the pudding gave it nice texture . Would order again, but less sweet . 9/10 Overall, I would probably stop by again if I'm in the area and craving a bbq bolo, sesame brioche, or sesame milk tea ! But... I would wait until the hype dies down first, then I'll go back to try everything else ! The Hokkaido cream cake and creme brûlée puff looked bomb . I honestly would've gotten more pasteries, but I ran out of hand-space lol .

Yelp
I heard a new bakery was opening up in Mira Mesa via friends and social media, and I couldn't wait to check it out! It's located next to Mo-Mo Paradise in the Village at Mira Mesa on Mira Mesa Blvd in Mira Mesa. There is a huge parking lot with ample stalls. The selections that they had at this bakery were crazy! I was surprised at all the selection they had and for a really good price of either $2 or $3. They also had brioche donuts with four flavors: black sesame, custard, matcha, or apple. And if you know me, I'm a huge sucker for black sesame items! They also had another black sesame pastry (can't remember what), but I had to stop myself from buying too many especially since I could come whenever as I lived nearby LOL. They also had a very cute selection of cakes and cold pastry items (located above the cakes). There was an upside down crème brulee cream puff. My friend and I got one to share, but I ended up not being able to try it out as we forgot about it sad. I got their custard and black sesame brioche donuts, and also a parsley garlic bread ($2 for a huge bread!). They were all very good! I definitely enjoyed the brioche donuts and am looking forward to getting more. There was a huge selection of items to choose for, and I definitely couldn't try everything. Even the cakes were beautifully presented (peep at pic) and irresistible to buy! Maybe in the future. Overall, this was a very cute bakery with a lot of different pastries. I feel that this bakery and 85 Degrees are comparable as they're both Chinese/Taiwanese bakeries but thankfully, their options are much different! Will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
I did like the bread but somehow I was not that impressed. I really don't know, I just cannot put my finger on this but that's how I feel. I tried this ace 2 times so far and both times, I was like Meh.

Tina D.

Yelp
Very similar layout to 85 degrees, with super delicious pastries: Pastries I've had: mochi taro, bbq bolo, pork sung bun, hokkaido cream, mochi sesame. I enjoyed all of them except for the mochi sesame, but this is also where I found out I don't really like sesame. My friend who tried it really enjoyed it though! They sell cakes, cake slices, sesame paste, and drinks. I'll definitely have to try the drinks next time as they all look tasty. Service is also super quick as well. I always stop by after work or walk from my house and I've never had to wait in line! If it's ur first time, I recommend the mochi taro!

Yamand P.

Yelp
Food is great and varieties of choices! Service is fast. Ambiance is okay. You can't eat inside, but there are chairs beside the store if you'd prefer to eat at the location.

Jessica S.

Yelp
When I walked in I instantly was hit with a buttery scent that permeated through the whole building... I didn't hate that! It's clean and tbh it's the exact same setup as 85 C Bakery. I think this place is a lot smaller but the different variations of baked goods were still plentiful. I got a lot of assorted pastries. I have 1 gripe: the Nutella "filled" bread was lacking in the FILLED part. I wanted something that was bursting with Nutella when I read that it was filled, alas it was lacking majorly. I got a cream puff that I thought was the classic Asian level of not-too-sweet (IYKYK) and I shared the cronut-looking things with my mom. As a Filipino, my mom likes a bread item (think Pandesal) in the AM with her coffee so she was happy to have a few pastries to nosh on... Favorite: Egg custard, it was so good, I was highly pleased by the flavor and consistency and I recommend it. It remind me of Avatar the Last Air Bender and that episode they cross through the big cavern (again IYKYK)

Yelp
We went during Soft Opening and also 10% off your order. This little location is next to Spectrum in the small shopping center with Sprouts and Michael's. You can see it from the Main Street- Mira Mesa Blvd. There is ample and free parking. The place is real small. At the time of our afternoon visit, there was about 20+ people inside and it was somewhat hard to maneuver to really see that various goods they have. They have a big open freezer but if people are standing in line, they will block your view and access. There are a couple cases full of baked goods. Some of the shelves were empty but the descriptions sounded good. When it was our turn to pay, I asked whether they will refill the shelves and the chick said no. So you are SOL if they are out of what you want. I ordered: -large iced taro milk tea $5.50 good and flavorful drink. This lasted for a couple servings, which was nice. -large taro smoothie $6.30 fave between the 2 drinks. -rainbow roll cake slice $5.50 light and fluffy. I really liked the different colors and wasn't too sweet. My daughter loved it. -Nutella roll cake slice $4 cake from the freezer area. This was ok. Maybe leave out until room temp or warm it up so it's not so hard. -dirty bun $2.55 I'm a chocolate lover so was pleasantly surprised how big and delicious this was. My fave and would get this again. Inside there's a small amount of chocolate and it's covered in chocolate. If you nuke it for a few seconds it is divine! -mochi taro $2.60 this was ok. Too gooey but the pastry was light and fluffy. -free pastry for signing up for rewards. Not as big as 85 across the street and doesn't refill the goodies as often but they do have some solid items that I'd come back for. Welcome to Mira Mesa!

Emmett T.

Yelp
The southwest corner of the Village at Mira Mesa has undergone a significant transformation. Several businesses are scheduled to debut next year in the vacant new suites. The latest to open was Sunmerry Bakery which is another Asian chain that has expanded into the San Diego area from their OC/LA footprint. They are currently in a soft opening period in which a promotional 10% discount is being applied to all orders. The inside had a familiar setup for this type of bakery. The foyer was lined with all kinds of baked goods that were individually wrapped in plastic and displayed on shelves. You grab a plastic tray and tongs and then start picking which products you want to purchase. There was a healthy mix of sweet and savory breads and buns, some of which had fillings. In a refrigerated display case next to the service counter were cream puffs and whole cakes. Cold drinks were also available, but you couldn't see the menu card until you reached the counter. I selected the following and added a large Boba Thai Iced Tea. * BBQ Pork Bolo * Custard Brioche Donut * Chicken Cheddar * Ham & Egg * Pudding Brioche The dough quality was soft and very good. The chicken and ham varieties were my two favorites. On the other hand, the Thai iced tea was a disappointment. First off, you could not make any adjustments. Of their drinks, only a few could be modified in terms of ice and sweetness. This needs to change because if you want to remain competitive with nearby boba tea shops, modifications are a must. My drink was diluted from the amount of ice. Pricewise, the baked goods here were on par with the chain competitor across the other side of Mira Mesa Blvd. With the deduction for the drink quality, I rated my experience at Sunmerry Bakery between 3.5 and 4 stars.

Yelp
Fun Fact: Taiwanese bakery... yes but started in Japan! ---- "Like 85 degrees" is what you will hear as its mirrors that of its rival 85 degrees. This Taiwanese bakery is a chain across California, with the first location in San Diego here. They serve everything from breads like brioches to bolos, to cakes like pineapple cake, whole cakes like tiramisu or matcha or mixed fruit cakes to refrigerated goodies like cream puffs. I got the brioche filled with apple and was pleasantly surprised how light and fluffy it was. The apple filling was not overly sweet. I also got the cream puff + upside down cream brule puff. The creme brulee version was superior to the cream puff! Great textures all the way around. Since it is new, it can be expected as I experienced for lines to be long. There was only one person working the cashier and at least 12-14 people in line. The place is also small, so don't expect much walking around room. Once you are in, expect to grab a tray and keep it moving. There are a few tables and chairs outside, but definitely did not get the vibe its a hang out spot. Its worth checking out for sure - needs more cashiers here to speed things up.

Daniel D.

Yelp
Located in a shopping center near below 5 and manna KBBQ, there is plenty of parking. Workers are friendly and everything is set up like 85 degree bakery where you grab a tray and pick what you want and pay at the end. No frills. Pricing is about the same as 85 degrees with more variety of drinks, but slightly less variety of baked goods. No seating for dine in. The drinks were ok, boba had flavor, but was too firm. The milk tea was not very strong. Definitely better than 85 degrees. The pastries were mediocre even after we reheated them slightly in the oven. Good texture but mild in flavor. The black sesame bun was the best thing we had. The egg tart was more like an egg white omelette on pie crust than a dessert. Worth a try, but I recommend 85 degrees bakery

Yelp
Recently opened Taiwanese bakery in the Mira Mesa Mall, near Cotixans and Crumbl Cookies. I was so excited to hear they finally opened! In my opinion, they have more unique and traditional asian bun options than a nearby competitor. Sunmerry bread is also chewier and less dense than others. My fave are their bolo series of buns. The crust on top of the bun is perfectly crisp and flakey when fresh. Staff here are super sweet and nice. Wish the store was a lil bigger as it's pretty cramped. But there are at least tables outside to sit and eat. I've only had their tea drinks and I like them! You can adjust sugar and ice levels. My fave is the kumquat lemon.

Yelp
I've been anticipating the arrival of this bakery, as it's my favorite when I lived in the Temple City area. This was my third time coming here. The first time I had arrived 5 minutes after they closed. The second time I came on a Wednesday late morning but there was a sign on the door saying they were closed. I was determined and came again. Third time's a charm! Because it's still a Soft Opening, they did not have a large variety of pastries to choose from. I'll have to come back when they're opened full speed. For this visit, we tried their cream puff. It's light and not too sweet, with a whipped cream filling. You can taste the freshness (way better than Beard Papa's). We ordered the black sesame milk tea, one with boba and one with pudding, both 50% sweet. The drinks were soooooooooo good! This was the first time we tried a black sesame milk tea and it was love at first sip! The boba was really soft and the pudding not too sweet. This is a new favorite! When you sign up for a rewards account with your phone number, you get a free soufflé cupcake filled with cream. The soufflé cupcake was very light and airy and the whipped cream was fluffy. Careful biting into it because the cream will ooze out! During the Soft Opening, they offer 10% off your full purchase, anything in the store (pastries, cakes, drinks, and other goodies). Take advantage of the deal and load up! If you're a fan of black sesame like we are, they sell black sesame spread that you can put on your toast. They also have black sesame powder that's really great with oatmeal or you can make your own black sesame milk tea. We also got the mochi black sesame bun and flaky butter cake and will try them later. No doubt they will be yummy like everything else we tried! The bakery itself is a bit small and they only had a few folding chairs. I'm really hoping they can squeeze in a few small coffee tables. The staff were all very friendly. The arrival of Sunmerry will for sure be a threat to 85 Degrees Bakery, as they offer some similar pastries and cakes.Without a doubt the drinks are better at Sunmerry. The pastries are comparable. We look forward to coming back soon!

Yelp
I made ittttttttttttt! I've been seeing a lot of excitement about Sunmerry Bakery on here, so I had to try it. Guys......I HAD TO TRY IT!!! There is a wide variety of pastries that are similar to the assortment you might see on a given day at 85 degrees with wine classic favorites and some different twists. The prices seemed a little high but heyyyyooooooo inflation. GUESS WHAT THOUGH????? I'm about to make your day because there is a 10% off the entire store Soft Opening Sale. We went nuts because no point in not trying it all! I am most excited about the Nutella Chocolate Roll. Omgggggggggg they did not scrimp on the chocolate! They also have a good assortment of drinks, including 7 Milk Tea options!!! We got the Classic Milk Tea Boba and it was strong but not too sweet. The boba was perfect in terms of consistency. I can't wait to come back and try some other options. My only complaint is that this location is really tight. There isn't a lot of room for people to move around or for additional displays so I'm afraid that this small location might be overrun with lines out the door. Don't forget to sign up for their rewards and you will get a free Hokkaido Cream Cake.

Yelp
Came on a Friday around 4pm. The shelves weren't full and they were out of most of the pastries. Black sesame milk tea- it was okay but I wouldn't order it again. Could use little more sweetness and black sesame flavor. Hokkaido cream cake- 5/5 this one was really good. Spongey cake filled with cream inside. Wasn't overly sweet which was perfect for me. Egg tarts- 5/5 I looooove egg tarts , so I didn't find anything wrong with these ones! Tasted good the next day as well, warmed it up in the air fryer. Black sesame brioche donut 4/5 - this was pretty good as well! Def didn't skimp out on the creme inside. Was hoping to try the green tea croissant next time and the strawberry Hokkaido cream cake.

Yelp
While my wife was picking up our Lunch I wandered around the plaza and found this new Bakery. Just a small Bakery, I bought a few baked goods for my Son. I bought a BRIOCHE DONUT MACHA, RAINBOW ROLL CAKE, and WALNUT COOKIE. Among the 3 my Son and I only like the WALNUT COOKIE. Soft with crunch from the Walnut and not overly sweet. Plenty of Parking around and it's near a lot of small eatery and department stores.

Yelp
Always a sucker for trying new bakeries! I think I wanted to get one of each! I think I might have. Lol When we got here, there was a line, but it wasn't too bad. The place is pretty small, but packed with different baked goods to try! Definitely check it out if you are in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Didn't feel too 'merry' about being inside such a small space and touching shoulders with the other customers. I also felt super bad because workers had to squeeze past customers to refill bread on the line. This bakery's concept is similar to 85C with the tray and tongs next to the door. They sell breads, drinks, cake, and more. I liked how many different flavor bread's they had however, when we went, they didn't have much variety to choose from. Service was pretty standard. They had two people on the register. I decided to buy the custard bread, pork bun, and caramel pudding. The custard bread was delicious!! I would come back to just get that. It's soft, fluffy, and the cream is delicious. Layered on top, is sugar crystals and it made the bread have more flavor and a bit of a crunch. Pork bun has always been my go-to at 85C and I wanted to compare and honestly I really like SunMerry's the most. Although it was just a little bit too salty. it has an even amount of bread + topping ratio and the bread is so soft!! At 85C, I feel like their quality has gone down and their bread is more on the thicker/chewy side. I would probably come back again during a slow hour and try their other breads and desserts!

Yelp
This new bakery is a great option when in Mira Mesa. Similar to 85 Degrees, expect all the popular baked goods. It's clean, reasonably priced and very organized. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Parking is easy too! Visit them and sign up for their rewards program. You'll receive a gift while supplies last. Thank me later.

Yelp
Came here for the grand opening and what a treat this place is. They have a lot of yummy pastries and we also received a free complimentary bag since we were first 50 people in the store. The staff was really nice and the girl behind the counter was very quick to ring us up so there was hardly any wait time. My favorite so far is the BBQ bun, egg tarts and the pineapple cake. I can't wait to come back and try more pastries.

Yelp
Solid new pastry shop in San Diego. Ordered a pineapple cake, butter pastry, tuna pie, and egg tart. The butter cake was nice and flaky, not too sweet -- just the way I like my pastries. The tuna pie is well textured and has a nice has a nice savory tuna flavor. Definitely would recommend stopping by if you're in the area. The staff are friendly, line is not too long, and the pastries are fresh... all pluses in my book.

Yelp
Very poor customer service. Made us wait for our order , apparently they gave our drinks to a different customer and it was even more difficult for them to remake our drinks that they gave to someone else. Tried to reach out to their customer service but they never even responded.

Yelp
I had some time in the middle of the week to come visit this place so I gave it a try! The place is very clean and neat, there was hardly anyone there when I went but the workers said the weekends get pretty busy. The workers I saw were quickly restocking items and the person who rung me up was very nice. Here are the items I decided to give a try: BROWN SUGAR BOBA WITH MILK - the boba was well made, no hard pieces and just the right amount of chewiness. Also the perfect amount of brown sugar, i could taste the sweetness the entire drink GREEN ONION - this was heavenly. It looked like a lot of green onion, but it had just the right amount of flavor, and the bread was super soft and tasty APPLE BRIOCHE DONUT - not my absolute favorite, there were parts that had too much filling (making it too tart) and the dough was okay GARLIC PARSLEY - tasted just like garlic bread that would perfectly pair with pasta! The bread was soft and not too hard to bite through UBE CONCHA - this tasted more like taro than ube, and there was too much filling for my taste. The outside part was delicious though! Over all, I would go again and try more delicious items they offer!

Yelp
My first recommendation for bakery is come early! We were in the area getting a late lunch around 3, and we saw Sunmerry had a huge line of people waiting outside, mistake number one lol because we didn't know any better BUT had we known we would've just gotten one person to wait in line at that point lol by the time we were done eating a few doors down most of the bakery was nothing but empty shelves. I did however thought about ordering online while we ate lunch but turns out this location is newer so it's not listed on their website yet to do online orders. Bummer! Either way we were still able to get plenty of baked goodies! Dont ask what because I don't remember the specifics though everything is good! Ok ok maybe I do remember the name of one of the pastries and that was the pineapple cakes!!! These sat right by the entrance in individual packaging, and boxes and bags. It's not a real cake but more of a stuffed cookie, so super delicious! I tried their milk tea and it was on point! Totally redommend! I want to come back hopefully it won't be as busy and there are more options available too!

Yelp
The place is small and cute. There's so many cute cakes!! Service is excellent! I tried the creme brulee creme puff, and that was delicious. I also tried walnut cookies, but it's more like a big bread. I don't mind it. It's huge, and there's so many nuts that I love. This is my first time at the San Diego location, and I went at night, so everything was pretty much gone. The cakes caught my attention because it's so cute, and there's so much variety. I would definitely visit during the day again so I can see all the selection.

Yelp
Cute little bakery! pick your own items and check out type of set up, so pretty quick service. Gotta go early before they run out of a lot of things! Tried the Hokkaido cream bread thing and the cream was so rich and had a great roasted and nutty flavor! The cream puff was pretty standard The chocolate chip cookie bread thing had the interesting layer on top and Nutella inside so it's also a can't go wrong with it but also wasn't super interesting Also tried a Portuguese egg tart that had very milky and sweet custard Tried a mushroom savory bread too and that was really yummy And finally tried the matcha brioche donut! The donut part was so soft and layered and great. I hoped that the matcha filling would have a stronger matcha flavor But overall there's a fun selection of things and it's definitely worth trying a few!

Yelp
Really want to give this place a 5 star because some pastries are great, but some miss the mark. We liked some of the pastries so much that we came back a second time just a couple days later. Will probably head back for a third soon. So far, we've tried their bolo bbq bun, pork sung bun, shiitake cheese bread, garlic bread, black sesame brioche donut, green scallion bread, and their strawberry black tea. I was really excited to try their bolo bbq bun, as that's what many people were reviewing. But the first time I got it, there was barely any bbq pork inside, only a small dollop in the middle. I got it a second time to see if I just picked the wrong bun, and I had better luck. The pork sung was one of our favorites. Came back and got 5 more to sustain us for the next couple days. It's an addiction. The shiitake cheese bread is better than it looks, not much flavor. Garlic bread was top notch, just tastes like a breadstick! I thought the green scallion bread was a little too oily for my liking. Gave the brioche donut to some friends and they said it was amazing. Their strawberry black tea was just okay. We asked to sub lychee jelly for boba and paid extra for it, but I think they forgot so we had to ask for a remake. They were really kind about it. Can't believe this is just their soft opening, and can't wait to try more here!

Yelp
Was super excited to try this place after seeing the good reviews! I love 85 degree bakery, so coming here I definitely see all the similarities. It is self-serve/you pick up the bread and pastries you want. They sell drinks as well as cakes, which we didn't try this time but they look really good so I will be back! Overall, the bread we got tasted really similar to 85. They did have some more variety and pastries I haven't had before- the green tea croissant was definitely one of my favorites as well as the conchas, and Hokkaido cream puff. Those 3 stood out the most to me. Everything is pretty reasonably priced! I would skip on the flaky butter cookies though, it wasn't my favorite. I'll definitely be back to try out their cakes and drinks next time :)

Yelp
This is my first time trying their breads, I've heard a lot of good things about them. The store looks bright and clean, and the displayed breads look so yummy. I chose a Hokkaido Cream Puff and an egg bread. Both of them are delicious, the cream puff is full of cream. I asked the staff, they only use whipped cream for this puff, which is a healthier option. I'll probably go back to try other products.

Yelp
Had dinner with some friends last night and Sunmerry was literally the topic of discussion for at least 10 minutes. Two of us has been there already and we were just rattling off all the good things that we've tried from there. My kids love the mocha concha and the nutella bread. I can say that I their tuna pastry is my favorite so far! I've tried their strawberry cake and it was great. Can't wait to try out all the items to figure out everything I like.

Yelp
This was my second time at Sunmerry and I managed to get most of what I wanted this time! The first time I went around 3pm and all of the donuts, egg tarts, and creme brulee cream puffs were sold out. I went around 1:30 today and the donuts were all there and the creme brulee cream puffs had a few left. I also ordered a black sesame milk tea drink and this is where the chaos began. A man in front of me had ordered a coffee and was complaining quite loudly about how the people before him got their drinks before him. Not sure what happened but he ended up grabbing a cake and taking it with him as compensation before grabbing his drink LOL. There was a couple who came in 15 minutes after me (I watched them get in line and pay for their drinks/bread). The girl grabbed a drink for her boyfriend which at this point I was confused because I had paid way before them. The next drink was a black sesame milk tea which I assumed was mine since I ordered before them. I grabbed the drink and the girl put her hand on the drink I was grabbing and said it was hers because she also ordered one. I had to explain I had already been there for 15-20 minutes and paid before them, so my drink would come out first. I showed the cashier my receipt as proof (MAKE SURE TO GET A RECEIPT IF YOU ORDER A DRINK). The cashier had helped both me and the couple so I explained the situation and reminded her I paid first. She told the couple the drink was mine and that's when I took it and left. The whole drink section is quite unorganized and there was no real system. The drinks were made in no particular order it seemed like, and were put out with no one checking to see who/what/when was ordered and people were just grabbing drinks left and right. This was a major issue as it was based on honor system and I can see a common issue with people's drinks being taken. The bread and desserts were good, but I would beware when ordering drinks. Make sure to keep your receipt as proof and expect around a 15 minute wait if it's somewhat busy.

Yelp
A new bakery spot has opened in Mira Mesa! This bakery sits across the plaza from 85 Degree Bakery with a pretty big parking lot area. I came for the grand opening which meant 10% off your items, and decided to stop by around the afternoon. Most of the savory and breakfast/lunch items were already sold out but they still had a good assortment of everything else. Their price is a little bit higher than 85 Degree Bakery, and different assortments of pastries. My favorite by far were the Matcha Almond Croissant, Upside Down Creme Brulee Cream Puff, and the Matcha Brioche Donut. Everything else was okay in flavor, we got one of each brioche donut and the rest were not as flavorful as the matcha one. The egg tart was not too bad, pretty similar to 85's. My least favorite was the Rainbow Hokaido Roll (just felt like there was too much food coloring and it was definitely too sweet). No seats inside for dine-in unfortunately, so we had to sit outside and enjoy some pastries. I ordered 2 boba drinks, one being the Ube Taro cold brew and the other one being the Strawberry cold brew; one with boba and one without. I really loved the cold brew series! They both were excellent in flavor, but the Ube Taro one was the winner by far. I would come back again for the Matcha pastries such as the Matcha Almond Croissant and the Matcha Brioche Donut but I wouldn't be making pastry runs here often.

Yelp
So excited for this bakery to finally open! We picked up some for lunch at the park and some for later. the green onion was fragrant and tender fluffy bread! the chicken cheddar is not too rich/salty and has a good amount of filling Egg and ham is also a decent choice. The black sesame MT is very unique and I actually quite like it. Strawberry milk is just sweet enough at 30% sweet with 70% ice. Service was quick. Can't wait to return for their cakes!

Cathee C.

Yelp
I will officially never come back. This is the second time they've forgotten to add boba to my drink. When you pay extra for something and you don't get it, it's disappointing to say the least. It takes forever for them to make your drinks too. Something's always wrong when I order drinks from here. The pastries are good but I can get the same quality at 85 degrees but with better service.

Yelp
Got a cake for my birthday! Employees are nice. Interior is super clean and organized. Lots of baked goods to choose from. Huge parking lot.

Angie H.

Yelp
I came here around 4 and there was nothing left on the shelves. However, we were able to buy some brioches as they were bringing it out. The matcha and custard brioches were both delicious and not overly sweet. There was a sprinkle of sugar on the sides of the bread. It was like biting into a pillow of cream. Definitely would buy again. We also got the black sesame milk tea and the Dalgona coffee. Both were good too! My favorite was the Dalgona because it was nutty.

Yelp
I was here for their BOGO! I got brown sugar milk tea. they didn't adjust sweetness at the time so I was scared it was gonna be too sweet but it was actually not sweet enough! the only sweetness was coming from my boba. staff was obviously overwhelmed so I understood if they weren't as cheery, still nice! im so amazed by the cakes theyre so cute! and they have 8 inch cakes which are hard to find. this place is almost like 85 they have alot of savory and sweet pastries! place is super small, no seating, only seating outside.
